Have said nothing inappropriate anywhere. If I had I assume HQ would have taken action. Have just checked the info on the thing I went to - yep the Jewish angle was highlighted in the billing. The speaker/host was jewish and highlighted this - which was entirely natural in the light of the subject/matter under discussion. If you want to adopt an attitude of mock outrage as some sort of keyboard war at the word "theme" that's up to you. The event was interesting if not as interesting as I had hoped.

Your wording was inappropriate

I get you don't see that because you literally have not seen that about your wording or posts in the past

Sorry but that is how I see it and despite non Jewish people thinking they can tell Jewish people what does and doesn't offend Jews. You don't actually get to do that, ever!

I have my own opinion and feelings about what is appropriate and what is not. Also every Jewish person will have different tolerance to what they find offensive or appropriate. However I think most of us don't think of ourselves as a theme

No main protest today. This will provide some respite.

x.com/metpoliceuk/status/1730647068190888151?s=20

It may end up being more problematic to the police

They will have to spread officers about and not be able to monitor behaviour as well as protests in central London. The big protests have always been on routes with good cctv

Not sure why you're all focusing negatively on the 'Jewish theme' and not praising Ford for this detail.

"at a recent event I told a young woman of mixed race descent (not sure of exact mix) who had a jewish granny that she gave me faith in the future of London."

I know

It would take more energy than I care to give this one of my stalkers to break that down and comment on it

Seriously life is to short

Good point. 👍

Yeah, that was just bizarre. Found time during a “Jewish themed” event that sadly wasn’t as interesting as anticipated (do better, Jews!) for a spot of light racial/ethnic profiling and approval for ideological soundness.

Well, to be fair, Ford probably considers Israel to be a Jewish-themed country.

Hopefully it will go well for them and they will get media coverage

Media coverage is a bit iffy these days

Lots of small pro p ones in London and elsewhere. It is colder plus people are now busy with certain TV shows and Xmas things so they probably won't get the numbers if big one every weekend

Antisemitism march or peace vigils tend to happen every 2 or 3 weeks. We all have jobs and other commitments, so it is harder for people to free up time and travel. Plus better to have a more meaningful peaceful event less often than something that is rushed and doesn't get the point across.

London braced for pro-Palestine rallies in 13 boroughs today

Scotland Yard says it has a 'locally led police plan' in place across the capital, with assemblies expected in 13 boroughs - but none on the scale of the mass gatherings seen in central London in recent weeks.

Totally thick.
Attention seeking and not a clue. There's a lot of idiots like this.

quiteoldad · 02/12/2023 15:58

Headline from the Daily Mail
London braced for pro-Palestine rallies in 13 boroughs today:

Actually that headline is remarkably tame, I would have expected nothing less than;

London braced for mayhem as violent hordes of swivel-eyed, terrorist loving, Jew-hating, socialists plan to rampage through the capital city of our sceptred isle.

Is the DM becoming more liberal?

Depdawg · 02/12/2023 16:11

More from those 'peaceful' protests.

https://x.com/metpoliceuk/status/1730971016233451596?s=20

As usual, other 'protestors' tried to obstruct police in the arrest.

But writing shit like that is really fucking unhelpful.

Edited

As a die hard fan of Jeremy Corbyn not sure this thread is the place for you honey

Nothing you say on this thread can be taken as anything other than a Jez fan having yet another dig at people that dare to call him out for being a terrorist fetish fuckwit

(Yep the Daily Mail are genuinely awful but currently most media outlet are staying quiet if a story doesn't suit their chosen narrative. So the DM and some fairly unknown sources it will have to be for now)

“The Jews of France are afraid. What can we do?” a caller who identified herself only as Martine pleaded on a breakfast-time news programme this week. Yonathan Arfi, president of the Jewish Representative Council in France, says he hears from parents who have told their children not to wear kippah skullcaps or Star of David chains in the street or on public transport for fear of being attacked. Some Jews have taken their names off letterboxes and doorbells or changed the name on their Uber account for safety.

One of the country’s most popular radio and television entertainers, who uses the stage name Arthur (real name Jacques Essebag), shocked many fans when he revealed that he had been living under guard since the day after the Hamas attacks. “This is France in 2023. I live in Paris and I have agents protecting me and my family because I’m Jewish. It’s crazy, no?” he said.

The interior ministry recorded more than 1,500 incidents in the six weeks following 7 October, ranging from the desecration of cemeteries to antisemitic graffiti and banners, social media attacks, vandalism against Jewish property, threats against Jews and a handful of assaults. This is more than three times as many as during the Palestinian uprising against Israeli occupation in the early 2000s – the previous high-water mark for anti-Jewish hate offences.

As antisemitism soars, for many Jews in France nowhere feels safe | Paul Taylor

Macron is calling for unity, but the Israel-Hamas war has sparked a rise in hate crime that threatens a fragile social peace, says Paul Taylor of the Friends of Europe thinktank

As a die hard fan of Jeremy Corbyn not sure this thread is the place for you honey.

Don't worry, I'm happy to be here and have been happy since the thread started, as, despite what you may choose to believe, I oppose antisemitism.

It's interesting that no one noticed anything about the picture I posted of the Protest in Paris.

Which sometimes fall on barren ground or go over peoples' heads or perhaps are not funny. Each to their own.

I was going to make a remark about them being dad jokes then I realised I’d read your user name wrong 😂

Don't tell me you think of yourself as a 'anti-racist'

Do you also know lots of Jewish people with similar views to you that also adore Jez

😂

(Haven't noticed any other posts from you on this thread. However I don't tend to scoll back much for ones I miss if not on here for a day or two)

Read onwards from page 2. I have at least a dozen contributions. The first ones questioned the wisdom of people flying Israeli flags at what was ostensibly a march against antisemitism. I won't repeat my arguments, you can go back and read them ( if you can be bothered) but it seem like the French, with their demonstration were not so crass and lacking in awareness as those who marched in London. .

You opposed anti-Semitism, yet have no problem telling anti-Semitic jokes. 🤔

In what way was the joke anti-semitic ?
