Honestly, why are you here? On this thread? What drew you to come here and start ranting and raving about the war? This march and this discussion wasn’t open for anybody to come in and what-about the situation happening here.

All things regarding the conflict and antisemitism in the U.K. can be true.

I really never use this word in regards to criticism of israel and I’m wary of even saying it; but YOU? … you’re clearly just a Jew hater, and you have some real nerve coming into a group to discuss legitimate fears of British Jews who are marching for their security, totally disparate from what is happening 2500 miles away. You clearly just cannot help yourself, and I hope you have more self control in your day to day life than you have behind a keyboard.

lastly, countries aren’t all alike, the situation in Gaza is not apples for apples with the U.K. in the same way the US and the U.K. are not the ‘same.’ Nobody in 2023 should be feeling threatened in a ‘tolerant’ and ‘peaceful’ country like Britain. It is precisely people like you who contribute to the problem.
*A NOTE TO ADD

If you want to be ‘left alone’ and for people to ‘stop tagging’ you in comments, then stop wading into other people’s business with your sinister opinions

Edited

I came on this thread out of interest and to get some perspective on the march. What ‘sinister’ opinions have I expressed’? Which of my posts here expresses ‘Jew hate’? That’s a sweeping and serious insult to throw at someone. I responded to a specific poster, who I stopped engaging with once they resorted to name calling and insults. It’s people who try and smear others just to shut them up that are the sinister ones.

Perspective on the march? You came to discuss the war and let everyone know that you didn’t have any solidarity and that it was unnecessary because there was no comparison in suffering.

If you’re not a Jew hater then you are very very seriously misguided as to how serious the issue is in the U.K. and if you are that misguided, you have no business commenting on whether or not you think that a march against antisemitism is necessary.

I don’t think anybody else has had to evacuate a nursery school in this country due to an ongoing terror threat against it and the children. I don’t think that other groups have had plots by foreign regimes to KIDNAP them or carry out directed large scale attacks against them. I don’t think many other group’s children have to attend Fort Knox schools with multiple security guards and barbed wire (that’s not even mentioning those who attend synagogue). Children are attacked on their ways home from school to the point that parents have been keeping their kids at home and schools have advised that children don’t wear their uniform. People with Palestinian flags drive around waiting for kids to walk of out the school gates and shout abuse and hurl things at them. A very large group of Asian youths planned to arrive in Golders Green to attack the Jewish community last month, and during last war another group thought it was a good idea to drive through our areas calling for Jewish women to be raped.

These are just a HANDFUL of things that have been happening, and if none of that seems to make you aware that there are serious problems here, then I revert back to the term I used previously.

And yet no arrests? No calls for jihad? No removal of a country or a whole people? No one with their faces covered or expressions of violence? No separate breakaway groups setting off flairs or Charging on Whitehall? No desecration of public monuments?

Looks like people were able to put their views to one side for the common good. Lots of faiths and diversity. No exclusionary behaviour.

I thought it was amazing.

No faces covered. Nothing to hide just solidarity.

People that hide their faces on any march behind coverings merely there to disguise to avoid later arrest indicate potential intent to cause harm at some point.

Instead of showing decorum, you raged about my words. Your reaction was

They certainly do hide their faces for this reason. They need not bother as the police have shown hesitation in arresting most of them.
There is the the fear of a backlash which
Is wrong.
It is one of the reasons I am more irritated when others try to minimise
antisemitism when another group is
Coseted.

On this and other threads you have said the following about me:

that a poster I don’t know is my “mate” and “sidekick”
that I need to “sort my temper out”
that I showed up like a “bad penny”
that I have “raged”.

I’ve tried ignoring you by not responding. I’ve told you let’s agree to disagree. Now you’re literally shouting at me through your keyboard and apparently I’m the one who is OTT.

I get that emotions are running high and everyone is stressed, including myself. MN is a discussion forum where people will sometimes have opposing views. I’d like to end this interaction respectfully so please just ignore me if I trigger you that much and I will do the same from now on. 👍

It appears most peculiar that two posters - Jupiter and DepDawg have had their innocuous posts reported by Pro Pals and deleted yet if one looks at certain posters' activities on other threads, one can certainly detect more than a whiff of anti- Semitism yet they remain.

Hi DesertRose,

Please don't take this the wrong way but don't you think that some of your posts are potentially quite upsetting to a people who have suffered greatly throughout history and are suffering still?

not that it matters but, for the record, I haven’t reported any posts by either of those two posters. And please don’t refer to those who support Palestinians as ‘Pro Pals’. If you’re trying to accuse others of hate speech it undermines your point if you also refer to them in a derogatory way.

It wasn't my intention to be derogatory - it was an abbreviation that I have seen on Pro Palestinian threads. However, I apologise if you feel I was being derogatory.

I do think though that anybody who posts in a whataboutery manner on a thread like this has their own agenda.

Hi @Jupitersstorm it’s never been my intention to upset people so if I’ve upset you then I apologise. i do feel strongly about the current conflict and perhaps that depth of emotion comes off too strong.
I came on this thread out of curiosity and I wasn’t planning to comment on it until i saw some posts that I found insensitive to the suffering of others.
anyway it’s clear I’m not welcome and I don’t have the energy to keep fighting with people. It personally makes me feel like shit to be called a ‘Jew hater’ when that couldn’t be further from reality.

Thereissomelight · 29/11/2023 12:01

Of course he is. Anyone who reveals anything uncomfortable is an anti-semite

Pro Israeli posters get absolutely pilloried on Pro Palestinian threads . I know you know this.

No one group has a monopoly on suffering.

Noone sensible on any side has ever suggested they do. This situation is desperate for everyone, but in different ways & with different dynamics. The trouble with 'both sides' arguments is they often ignore the cold reality of responsibility, accountability & how realistically to move forward.

There is very strong challenge yes (including by me) but in all honesty I feel some of that is because the pro Israeli posters (at least on the threads I’ve seen) mainly come across as lacking any sort of empathy at all to the plight of Palestinians. Their suffering and casualties are either ignored, dismissed as collateral damage, or blamed wholly on Hamas. There’s reference to Jewish suffering and persecution but those posters dont acknowledge Palestinians are suffering. Even before this conflict they led miserable lives and that has also been multi generational. Is that partly to blame on the corruption and incompetence of their leaders, yes, but the root cause is also living under occupation. I hear what you say about Jewish suffering both past and present and I understand why it feels like a very scary time for British Jews. Can you see though that it can appear some pro-Israeli posters reference Jewish suffering almost like a kind of trump card to justify behaviour that is causing phenomenal carnage and devastation to another group of people ? In my view that’s what triggers many people.

Some just hate it that Sunday's event took place; it's actually begrudged.
Jews don't matter. Now who said that?
This thread was hijacked, as was the
You Tube video on Sunday's March thread.
Then these people tell us they are not
Antisemitic.
Pro Palestinian flags flying = wonderful
Israel flags flying = outrage
Some posts being removed
Some posts staying.

No wonder there was a need for last Sunday's March.

I wrote into MN to ask why my post had been deleted and they replied:
"We don't allow threads to be referenced on other threads in this way (it's something that has always been against our talk guidelines). The reason for this, is that it invites disagreements from other threads and often derails the thread it has been posted on. We're working really hard to try and keep this discussion civil and moderate the threads, and so we're requesting that you please bear this in mind and avoid posting in this way in future."

Right, so the Pro Palestinian threads (over 300 of them) can carry on with impunity unless we go on them, have to read some very upsetting things in order to report them. So I cannot link to these threads so we can challenge certain posts either. No criticism of Mumsnet at all - it's just frustrating that certain Pro Palestinian posters swoop down within minutes and get posts deleted whenever they can - especially links to their threads.

Yet they've allowed a thread to stand that references other posts/quotes from another thread. 🤔

Thats such bullshit. Just because a thread is focused on Israelis and jewish people, that does not mean that people contributing don't have empathy to Palestinian suffering. Posters don't have to mention Palestinian's every time they mention Israelis, and vice versa. This is exactly the kind of thinking that leads to conflict. You are essentially angry that posters won't take sides- your side. It reminds me of my warring parents, they constantly, and still, want to be validated and for their children to side with them, every time there is a problem. There's no sympathy allowed for the other side, or you're betraying them. Did it occur to you that people might just think theres a lot of threads dedicated to Palestinian suffering already and that they contribute more to threads like this because they don;t want jews to feel like the world hates them still?
