They did, Tommy Robinson and Co were there but were quickly arrested.

We are fighting against human animals”. - Israeli Defence Minister Yoav Gallant.
There is plenty of dehumanising going on towards Palestinians too, the above quote is actually very tame in comparison to others.

Perhaps we can all agree that both marches are relevant and acceptable? And be glad that we are able to safely attend them if we wish (especially now Suella has been sacked).

How is that dehumanising? If anything it's an insult to animals.
Anyone who read about the atrocities committed by Hamas on Oct 7 should be embarrassed that those animals are part of the human race.

If they were talking specifically about Hamas then yes but the worry is that all Palestinians will be guilty by association. On other threads there have been discussions of the people held under administrative detention which seems to show how quick the Israel authorities are to assume Palestinians are guilty of something and how little they think of them.

The police have set up a Web page to help identify all the people they need identifying

Keep scolling down to see all the people they are currently still looking for. The EDL lot are on their too somewhere in the middle.

That vigil sounds like a really good thing. Hopefully people from both “sides” can come together.

And hopefully no yobos.

Stomacharmeleon · 27/11/2023 13:07

@FordAnglia did you bring that banner to the organisers attention as is the advice on the pro Palestinian marches? If you were so offended by the petrol pouring?

No I didn't. I thought it clear that my petrol comment referred to a post upthread referring to a march poster I didn't see. With regards to the one I did see I would possibly have had polite words with the folks carrying it, asking what it meant. But this would have been at the end of the march. Would have been entirely reasonable of me I think. But I left at the top of Whitehall.

Primarina · 27/11/2023 21:18

‘Not sure why the people who were in the demonstration the day before didn't join in this march against anti-Semitism’

Shame those for the anti-semitism march couldn’t have got there a day earlier.

Yep on the face of it looks like a good thing. I trust both starmer and boris will find that they have an attractive reception to go to instead.

Stomacharmeleon · 27/11/2023 21:24

@Primarina I am not sure they would be welcome unless toeing the party line on what's 'good' and 'bad'
@FordAnglia do you mean starmer and sunak? Or do you mean Boris?

Primarina · 27/11/2023 21:29

@Stomacharmeleon What makes you think that? More diversity at the pro pal march than the anti-Semitic one that’s for sure!

Stomacharmeleon · 27/11/2023 21:33

@Primarina pardon?

Sunak aint called boris as far as I know. Not christened as such (tho neither was THE boris) not sure how there could be any confusion about the great charlatan/opportunist. Tho feel free to chuck sunak into the reception trough. Doubt he will be there anyway. Might spoil his shoes.

Jupitersstorm · 27/11/2023 22:02

What exactly do you mean by more diversity?

Exactly why the antisemitism march was needed

Talk about missing the point!

I mean, I'm assuming this poster is someone who agrees with the previous poster who seems to think all Jews and Israelis are white 🤦🏻‍♀️

I mentioned that comment to my in laws earlier and they burst out laughing - they spent the first 10-50 years (depending on which generation we're talking about) of their lives in Iraq not being Arab enough, the next 40 years in the UK not being white enough and now they're apparently white 😂

These threads keep revealing how little people know about region, and the place of Jews in it! I'm glad your in laws can laugh about it

You seriously need to explain what you mean as this sounds racist.

Yes I know and was partly mucking with them

However one reason of the antisemitism march was that the Jewish community feels alone and unprotected. That other communities are not standing up and saying no to antisemitism. Therefore the poster and others saying this did completely miss the point.

(The other reason for the march was so a group of kid arse Jews and their supporters could let everyone know we won't lie down and take the hate aimed at us)

FromEden · 28/11/2023 00:56

If we were going to see a March against hate though I’d have personally liked to see something more inclusive where people came together to protest against all forms of hatred and racism which have increased since the conflict started, but hey ho.

Why can't Jewish people have a march just for them when they've been witnessing people calling for their death week after week? Would you have have told the BLM marchers that all lives matter and they need to be more inclusive? Highly doubtful
