How disgusting to address another poster like that

etmoiandme · 27/11/2023 18:21

@Rachna83 I stopped reading the Morning Star more than 20 years ago for a reason. But even so I could pretty guarantee what the article says without even opening it to read it. But the gist will be a massive mental stretch to find a way a way to accommodate [tolerate actually] the good Jews as being a welcome part of their international and domestic socialism (with conditions) as well as the pro-Palestine movement. Probably also something about the bad Jews (sorry "Zionists") who betrayed them because of their boy that couldn't win an election. Something about how Tommy Robinson turned up and isn't that just so telling. And probably a warped redefinition of antisemitism thrown in for good measure. Maybe a quote or two from Chris Williamson or big Len (or whoever the latest poster boy is) and probably some shaming of some Jewish celebrities or Jewish Labour Party MPs (mostly likely female). Amirite?!

Depdawg · 27/11/2023 18:25

Are there anymore plans for another march?
Does anybody know?

ChickHenLittle · 27/11/2023 18:26

We are fighting against human animals”. - Israeli Defence Minister Yoav Gallant.
There is plenty of dehumanising going on towards Palestinians too, the above quote is actually very tame in comparison to others.

Perhaps we can all agree that both marches are relevant and acceptable? And be glad that we are able to safely attend them if we wish (especially now Suella has been sacked).

Dishwasher, I take my hat off to you.
Such perception, such mind reading, such clairvoyance and so many psychic powers to know what is really in the minds of all those who currently see the Israeli flag as a symbol of injustice.

You deffo read it didn't you? Spooky.

Margaret Hodge, by the way.

beachcitygirl · 27/11/2023 18:30

Actually @Comedycook for @SharonEllis to speak to a person of the Roma community about the dangers of fascism is what's disgusting.

Desertrose2023 · 27/11/2023 18:31

SharonEllis · 27/11/2023 18:17

Nobody equates 'hurt feelings" with being a victim of violence. However, what the march was about was standing up against antisemitism. Racism lurks and grows if it isn't challenged. By dehumanising Jews who are the victims of racism & prejudice here (what the march was about - British Jews) and saying their feelings don't matter you are laying the groundwork for violence against them. History shows us what happens. People are safe here - until they are not and then it's too late

We've also seen it in Hamas's attack. Face to face brutal violence and mutilation of Jews by people who have been brought up to hate. And then here, in this country, people celebrating those acts because they too have dehumanised Jews to the point where that obscene level of torture was considered acceptable and even more.

It doesn't wash to pretend you don't understand. We see you.

Oh give it a rest with “we see you”. no one is belittling or dehumanizing Jews. My post says that I feel sorry for anyone experiencing racism and hatred at this time. that includes Jews. It also includes Muslims who have seen incidents of Islamophobia rise exponentially as well. If we were going to see a March against hate though I’d have personally liked to see something more inclusive where people came together to protest against all forms of hatred and racism which have increased since the conflict started, but hey ho.

etmoiandme · 27/11/2023 18:32

@noblegiraffe Full disclosure - read the headline and first sentence. Then closed it.

So in all this horrendous situation and suffering you are outraged by a flag. That kind of negates what your mate @Desertrose2023 was saying about privilege.
A flag offends you while people are dying.
Whichever way you feel you have been arrogant enough to suggest you know more about victimisation than anyone else.

Demonising the Jewish homeland relentlessly? Demonising its symbols? Trying to have it boycotted? And all to the exclusion of active interest in any other cause elsewhere in the world?

Sure, you have to be psychic to see antisemitism there. 🙄

I do find it very disturbing that people can express hatred for Israel so strongly without any self-awareness or embarrassment. But then I suppose Jew haters aren’t the brightest.

Mdg247 · 27/11/2023 18:37

OuiOuiKitty · 27/11/2023 18:03

Like I've said twice now, I'm entitled to my opinion on this march and how the imagery of the Israeli flag being flown in the UK whist Israel are killing 1 in every 200 children, killing aid workers, killing medics etc made me feel just as the 100s of posts about other marches are entitled to express how they feel. Again, like I said if people are happy with their choice to drape themselves in the Israeli flag then good for them but you cannot control the opinions others may form about you if you do so. I wouldn't presume to dictate to British Jews how they should feel about Palestinian flags, I'm not sure why you think I should?

I have said nothing about Nazis, nothing about white supremacists etc. So I'm not sure if that is directed at me? All I have done is said that people are free to fly whatever flag they want and feel whatever way they want about doing so and I am free to feel whatever way I want about it. I don't think that that is controversial.

That’s fine, if it’s your opinion and your feelings which nobody can change.

Unless you are actually entrenched in this war (by that I mean you have friends and or family on either side) it is very hard to explain to you why, and how you could make better sense of your feelings in regards to this. I say that with respect but it probably doesn’t come across well on message here.

Furthermore life isn’t black and white which Israelis and Palestinians know all too well. Those not physically or directly affected have not seemed to grasp this or can’t. Therefore things like flags evoke many different meanings to those that carry them, it’s not simply a case of ‘government right’ ‘government wrong’

I see. You think Israel is like a fascist state from history or like ISIS. (I’ll leave out “the butchers apron” because you’ve clearly got some personal issues with the union flag.)

And you don’t mind Jews gathering together. Just not in their own country. And defending themselves.

WTAF?

Stomacharmeleon · 27/11/2023 18:43

@etmoiandme ooooh that's spooky.

basculin · 27/11/2023 18:56

beachcitygirl · 27/11/2023 18:18

@basculin because I don't talk about my hurt feelings. I don't march about them, I don't deny my privilege.

I use my family's background as a spur to oppose genocide.

Children are being killed in their thousands.
Stand up for them.

So when Jewish people talk about racism against them it's hurt feelings but when you talk about racism against travellers it's not?

Jupitersstorm · 27/11/2023 19:08

beachcitygirl · 27/11/2023 17:01

I couldn't imagine why any decent human being would attend a March full of Israeli flags.

I also can't imagine why any decent human being would attend a March full of the butchers apron flag either.

Nationalism at its bloody warmongering worst.

Call out antisemitism and Islamophobia in real
Life & online. Live decently. Oppose slaughter of innocents, vote accordingly.

So it's OK for a march with thousands of Palestinian flags and placards but none that have the Union Flag UK flag or the Israeli flag?
Hamas is the democratically voted for government in Gaza(part of Palestine?) and they have proved themselves to be butchers but you feel it is OK for a march for wall to wall Palestinian flags.

My goodness, that's bizarre.

Reallifelurker · 27/11/2023 19:11

FFS of course it's building up to this little "test". Even on a thread about anti-Semitism everyone has to be put through it. Yes. Happy? Am I acceptable to you now?

Well it’s also quite frustrating to be constantly accused of being antisemitic for being critical of Israel. It’s especially annoying when you consider that it’s government are loons and most Israelis will admit that. But NOPE, we’ve seen it on this very thread, “oh we just KNOW you’re antisemitic because of reasons”. I mean you think we don’t get tired of that?

Lamelie · 27/11/2023 19:14

@beachcitygirl Flowers

Reallifelurker · 27/11/2023 19:17

Hamas is the democratically voted for government in Gaza

Lol. Voted in every time huh?

I agree about the flags though. Palestinian flags at pro Palestine marches and Israeli flags at a march for the Jewish. Makes sense to me.
Not sure where the Union Jack comes into it though. Were there tag-along yobo’s waving it?

Edited

Those British Jews who were waving the union jack were demonstrating their allegiance to Britain and British values. This was articlated from the platform too. The march was completely devoid of yobbos.

Sorry @beachcitygirl posted too early- it really wasn’t wall to wall flags. There were probably
1 in 50 people with them. I’m trying to link to a brilliant traveler and Roma group on Twitter but it won’t let me because it starts with @ and it thinks I’m inventing a poster travellermovementM
