Whilst you might say that bearing Israel's national flag does not necessarily signal your approval of that country's military policy and that your support is limited to the other, more acceptable aspects of the nation, this is blindly ignoring what is going on.
At present, Israel is conducting a campaign more viscious and more inhumane than any it has carried out before. So grotesque is its retaliation that one cannot help but define Israel by these actions for as long as they continue. Hence the Israeli flag cannot be seen as anything but an approval for its current campaign.
And no matter how much you would argue, most people would see it as such.
If you want to show support for loved ones in that land, hold up their picture, write them a letter, have a placard that shows your empathy with them, but don't feed the Israeli politicians.
