@Rammer remember how you mentioned about aid. Sky news military correspondent has done a piece on it.
He mentions that the humanatarian effort should have been together with the Al shifa raid and that Israel had weeks to plan it. The blame is more on the Israeli government for lack of direction than on the military though

You can say like you dismissed some other lies yesterday that it was just a small mistake

Readingallnight · 15/11/2023 18:29

So today the IDF have
blown up the flour silos…..no food
blown up the solar panels on the hospital….last chance at energy
trashed the hospital and medical equipment.

My my they are desperate, it seems, to get everyone to go South.
Without any food, infrastructure, or medical aid the Palestinians have nothing.
Just waiting for the bulldozers to move in now for the final clean sweep.

These are some parts of the article on sky

As the soldiers moved in, the humanitarian operation should have moved in right behind them," he said.
"And they’ve had a long time to think about what they were going to do when they actually got hold of the al Shifa hospital.
"And here they are, local commanders doing the best they can, bringing bits and pieces in as and when they think it can make some difference
"The Israeli army has been really poor at this. They've had weeks to think about it and because the government in Tel Aviv has been completely confused about what this operation is really trying to achieve, they've given the military no explicit instructions."

This is another strike(from Friday). Not the one you’re referring to. (Which it wa never 100% proof and since then anyway Israel has attacked nearly 20 hospitals)

EasterIssland · 15/11/2023 18:40

France is the latest country to criticise Israels operation in Al shifa hospital. I always thought France was very pro-Israel so quite suprised by their recent statements. I think the first sentence is something we all resonate with.

“The Palestinian population should not be made to pay for Hamas’s crimes, even less so the vulnerable, injured or sick and the humanitarian workers who courageously continue their work in extremely dangerous conditions,” the French foreign ministry said in a statement, reported by AFP.
France “expresses its very serious concern about Israeli military operations in [the] al-Shifa hospital,” the ministry added.

. I think the first sentence is something we all resonate with.

This does not resonate with me - curious use of 1st person plural as if you think all posters think the same way as you...

Incredible people.

Christ, that makes me feel quite emotional. You have to be quite a special kind of person to go from a place of relative safety to one of extreme danger to help other people.

ChickHenLittle · 15/11/2023 19:03

@Jupitersstorm So you think the Palestinian population SHOULD be made to pay for Hamas' crimes?

Not sure where else to put this but Malta have been working on a UN Security Council resolution for the last week. I believe the vote is at 8pm GMT today. I'm really hoping the US don't use their veto again. If accepted the resolution will be legally binding but I have no idea what sanctions are available to the UNSC for non compliance.

Israel have said they do not recognise any UN resolution.
No idea how that would pan out.

I don’t think it means anything. In the kibbutz’s (people’s homes) they had weapons. In hospitals they have weapons. So what!

Unless they are using those weapons then I don’t care. Both areas are practically a war zone. Of course they have fucking weapons!

To me it’s very clear. Gaza/Hamas were wrong to go into Israel. Isreal is wrong to go into Gaza. Who’s currently where? Who’s in the wrong. Clearly Israel at this moment in time.

Readingallnight · 15/11/2023 19:27

No
Any report without independent verification is worthless.
They had the chance to take an Al Jazeera journalist in with them
They didn’t
They have too much history of lying about this don’t of thing.

Scholars and much of the international community and aid agencies are in agreement.

For me :

  1. Even if it’s true that Hamas had left several guns in there it doesn’t justify the way they have handled the raid and also if true some of the news seems like some people have died and some hospital equipment has been targeted
  2. As you know by now I don’t believe anything that idf says. If this was coming from independent sources then I’d believe it. But Israel doesn’t allow any journalists to go into Gaza (unless cnn who won’t report anything that Israel has done)

so basically , I really don’t care what idf says. They’re killing innocent people and that’s and what I care about

Wow, I didn't know that.

How will nation states who do recognise UN resolutions deal with diplomatic relations if the resolution passes. You can hardly vote in favour of it and then do nothing if Israel refuses to comply.

From Oct 2023 when there was a similar vote

It certainly makes clear that Israel has an imperative duty in international law to ensure civilians are not deprived of objects indispensable to their survival.
But the resolution is non-binding, more a snapshot of world opinion. The security council, which can pass binding resolutions, has been unable to pass a motion on the crisis without either Russia or the US wielding its veto.

11,000 Palestinians killed so far with 40% children, that's almost 5,000 children killed, so sad.
