I don't think the arrest came as a surprise, it was on the script. Indonesian hospital hospital has been told to evacuate, I'm sure it's director and senior staff will be arrested in due course. Whoever isn't dead will be imprisoned.

So is the Indonesian hospital also being sited by the IDF as a Hamas Base

Incontrovertible evidence now why Israel had to deal with the terrorist threat here:

Incontrovertible and Daily Mail cannot feature in the same sentence ☺️

Agree lots of unanswered questions and lack of clarity

To my mind not much evidence of a 'command centre' and no 'extensive network of tunnels' yet - just the underground bedsit/laptop and 2 tunnels

The weapons and ammunition do however suggest to me a Hamas presence on site but not of the extent/sophistication suggested by the cgi presentation - US have already downgraded it to a 'command and control node' in their intelligence report

And there seem to have been hostages around the hospital/compound but not on the scale that was anticipated

It's really hard to know

I’m not even convinced the weapons presented by the IDF are proof.
Why would Hamas leave then behind so conveniently.
Were there reporters around filming whilst the IDF made their first incursion. No

All government property including hospitals is considered a Hamas asset as they are the elected government

So destroying Hamas infra-structure means no hospitals?

Indonesia have been very angry about what is happening to the hospital which they built and paid for - don't know if it is now considered government property

The footage is of tunnels, entry points and a kitchen area.
We know there are tunnels, Israel built them.
This is the DM stuck for anything better to write about.
The headline is sensationalist but the text clearly notes ‘the IDF say’.

Exactly this
This will render Gaza in many ways uninhabitable as this can then be applied on most necessary infrastructure.

And by default one could also say as Netanyahu his far right Government also consider, as they have stated, all Palestinians are Hamas that gives them carte blanche to bomb everyone and everything in Gaza and arrest everyone there.

@Efacsen I think anything of worth to Palestinians will be branded Hamas. So hospitals, they've already demolished schools, solar panels, water tanks, mosques. Universities will be next.

Efacsen · 23/11/2023 15:37

@feralunderclass think 2 universities have gone already Sad one quite early on

Was wondering about roads too - embedded journalists in northern gaza have said the roads have all been destroyed by military bull-dozers

Parkingt111 · 23/11/2023 15:37

@Readingallnight although some comments by politicians does not differentiate between Hamas and ordinary Gazans I don't think they have stated that all are Hamas.
Unfortunately the civilian death toll despite that is still very high
I'm really hoping that this all ends very soon

I wasn't aware of that 😔. Judging by the scenes on the news, 'craters' is more apt than roads.

Readingallnight · 23/11/2023 16:13

@Parkingt111
perhaps I am reading between the lines too much but I’m not expecting Netanyahu to actually come out and say it anyway.

Netanyahu has said he will not allow a Palestinian led government in Gaza after they have killed all of Hamas

Netanyahu has said He will not allow a Palestinian Government that teach their children to hate Israel.etc etc.

If all of Hamas have been killed why then would he say this.

The Palestinians are not Hamas, but I’m not convinced by his and his Governments words and the IDFs actions so far that they only seek to eliminate Hamas.

Israel has bombed the front of a hospital / 2

As a part of the deal which has been agreed - Hamas are releasing some of the Israeli hostages from last month and Israel will release some of the Palestinians they have been holding.
There has been word wide condemnation of Hamas for holding the Israeli hostages (totally agree) but why doesn’t the world hold Israel to account of hostages they hold?

Stomacharmeleon · 23/11/2023 18:58

@Parker231 the clue is in the word. Hostage.

Why also does no one seek for the Red Criss to check on their condition.
After all, I’m guessing they would be easier to find.

I also am bemused by the numbers being let go.
Israel holds well over 10000 Palestinians with more than half taken after October 7th
So if the release was going to be proportional there should be in the region of 2000 Palestinians released.
We should be thankful for small mercies at this stage I know, but nothing in this war has been proportional…..not even this

@Readingallnight they had over 1,000 for Gilad Shalit so I think hamas have had their 'proportion'. One went on to orchestrate the massacre of Israelis.

You can't argue about the value of life when you are talking about 3 year old orphans. Hamas are getting three times as many people back.

An Israeli life isn’t worth more than a Palestinian and vice versa.

I’m responding to the posters issues raised.
Im not referring to the age of hostages.

Im an pointing out a mathematical disparity in the proportion of those to be released.
One which cannot be denied

An emotive post about children to in an attempt dismiss this undeniable truth is pointless.

I suppose the entire population of Gaza is being held hostage - they will suffer and be denied sufficient aid until Hamas complies with Israel, apparently.

Good point !
Lets hope those 300 trucks a day as promised will keep rolling in for the forceable future and the people of Gaza are not denied food and medicine any more.

We ll wait and see how long it lasts

OP posts:
Stomacharmeleon · 23/11/2023 19:23

@stormy4319trevor or they put the people first and leave. Well those that aren't in Qatar.

stormy4319trevor · 23/11/2023 19:24

Is 300 trucks enough, though? I suppose, again, better than nothing. I was trying to imagine surviving on 3L of water today - it must be hell. Not even clean, safe water either.

Stomacharmeleon · 23/11/2023 19:24

@Readingallnight so let me get this right.... your moaning because Hamas are getting three times as many hostages back as Israel. Is that right? Oh ok.

I looked at the Daily Mail article and their photographs and it even said the underground kitchen and bathroom space with two cots they found was disused. You can see the space is small. It does not seem to show a power base centre of command.
