More medical personnel in trouble with the IDF

Al Jazeera are reporting this morning that the director of Al Shifa and other senior doctors have been arrested - if true I'm sort of surprised that it's not happened before now in the hunt for Hamas HQ

Embedded reporters from a variety of news organisations were given a tour of the hospital yesterday and I'm sure you've seen the latest tunnel photos of a white tiled kitchenette, living area, air con unit and toilet

Perhaps they have moved to arrest them now as most/nearly all of patients were evacuated yesterday

[I'm not at all sure how many are still left and with these arrests how many staff remain to look after them]

Parkingt111 · 23/11/2023 07:43

@Efacsen that's terrible where has that been reported?

And have you seen the cnn interview where Israel's former PM says that Israel were the ones who built bunkers under Al shifa hospital
The interviewer was so shocked she asked him again to double check she heard right

Efacsen · 23/11/2023 07:46

@Parkingt111 it's on the Al Jazeera live feed

And yes the CNN journalists shock is almost comic

Parkingt111 · 23/11/2023 07:51

Although it still hasn't been proven that Hamas HQ is under Alshifa hospital as Israel alleged. Its interesting that all this time they failed to mention that they themselves built the bunkers

During an interview, Barak said bunkers being used by Hamas for terror activity were originally “built by Israeli constructors.”
A surprised Amanpour responded: “When you said it was built by Israeli engineers did you misspeak?

Barak answered: “No no, you know, some decades ago we were running the place… so we helped them… we helped them to build these bunkers in order to enable more space for the operation of the hospital.”

Parkingt111 · 23/11/2023 07:52

@Efacsen yes she was like you have thrown me off there. She really had to compose herself

Efacsen · 23/11/2023 08:00

Guardian are reporting arrests now, as well as Al J

The more visibility the videos of these racist attacks can get, the better. Show the world how they behave.

Stomacharmeleon · 23/11/2023 09:07

@greatsatsuma what makes them 'racist' they are at war?

Parkingt111 · 23/11/2023 09:24

@greatsatsuma the video wasn't previously mentioned on this thread that's why I think there was the confusion on what you were referring to in your post

greatsatsuma · 23/11/2023 09:31

@Parkingt111 @Stomacharmeleon I'm sorry my mistake. I may have posted on the wrong thread!

Stomacharmeleon · 23/11/2023 09:31

@greatsatsuma I didn't know what you were referring to hence me asking why it was racist?
The irony of telling me to educate myself whilst not providing a link Confused

greatsatsuma · 23/11/2023 09:34

@Stomacharmeleon I think our posts crossed, I apologise as I posted on the wrong thread and got confused.

Stomacharmeleon · 23/11/2023 09:35

Sorry I see. Apology accepted.

Efacsen · 23/11/2023 10:19

Can't see how this will help anyone

Gaza Health Ministry to stop coordinating with WHO over evacuations

they're blaming the WHO for not protecting medics from arrest

CNN need to inform their interviewers a little more, I can’t believe she didn’t know that. Or is the US filtering their news.
It reminds me of an interview on a local channel in the US some years ago. They asked a British person who was on holiday how it felt to have a Queen running the country !😳

The director of Al Shifas days were numbered as soon as they closed in on the hospital.
He has been very outspoken of the realities of the bombardment.

No sign of Israeli Government attempting to find justification for bombing under all the other hospitals, schools and other infrastructure then. So are we supposed to be satisfied that the levelling of Gaza was so they could just get to the tunnels under Al Shifa.

Has this passed them by I wonder as it seems to have been missed by many Governments that still see fit to support this ‘war’.

Stomacharmeleon · 23/11/2023 12:12

@Readingallnight or you could say his days were numbered as soon as it became obvious that hostages had been in the hospital and he had failed to mention it. Hamas have confirmed they were there.

Efacsen · 23/11/2023 12:21

Agree he's been a dead man walking for a while now and probably won't see the light of day again

Hamas are trying to drum up international support for his release but personally can't see that happening

ATM it seems unclear whether the evidence presented so far is sufficient to justify the destruction of the cornerstone of Gazas healthcare and contravenes the Geneva Convention. Not seen a good legal analysis for a while - maybe it's too soon to say

Anyone who is outspoken against the Israelis Govn position has their days numbered so I would have to agree to disagree on this.
I wasn’t aware Hamas had confirmed hostages were being held at Al Shifa.
I am aware Israel has said this though.

@Readingallnight

Agree @Efacsen
we haven’t even seen any evidence for all the other bombed buildings.
In fact, so far, we haven’t seen any independent verification for anything so far.
Perhaps Israel should allow the press back, to report as they see fit.
If any are brave enough. 48 killed so far along with many many family members.

I haven't either and the assertion is never presented with any evidence

Stomacharmeleon · 23/11/2023 12:55

@Readingallnight they can even tell what hostages it is and your still doubting it?

Stomacharmeleon · 23/11/2023 12:55

@Efacsen video footage?
