Khan Younis along with the South is also being bombed.
The Jordanian field hospitals location puts pressure on Israel not to bomb that area. After all, no one can claim Hamas are under it.
Having a hospital means Palestinians can be treated in their own country which is not what the Israeli Govn want.
So obviously they want it gone and with it goes any ability to treat injured Palestinian civilians

This is really isn’t a surprise

An attack on Al awda hospital has led to the deaths of three doctors
Doctors without Borders and Action aid have released a statement

This is terrible terrible news. Especially on the eve of a hostage negotiation

Parkingt111 · 21/11/2023 17:49

From MSF (doctors without borders)

We condemn this strike in the strongest terms and yet again call for the respect and protection of medical facilities, staff and patients.Attacks on medical facilities are a “serious violation of international humanitarian law”, it said, adding that such attacks have become “systematic” in the past weeks.
This is yet another incident that MSF staff have been subject to in the last few days. Our colleagues who are assisting hundreds of patients in Gaza are facing extremely difficult times in providing the little medical care they can. Seeing doctors killed next to hospital beds is beyond tragic, and this must stop now.

I wouldn't be so sure about that! If they can present "Hamas tunnels" that to the whole world look like a lift shaft, I'm sure discovering a "new Hamas command centre" under the field hospital is not unthinkable.

Parkingt111 · 21/11/2023 17:52

The systematic attack on health care workers and the total health care infrastructure in a war zone needs to stop.
This is not acceptable
There needs to be an intervention as this cannot continue

Good point
It does seem to be the modus operandi

Absolutely tragic 💔. Israel have wiped their rear ends with the international laws. It's absolutely farcical 😭

Parkingt111 · 21/11/2023 18:49

This young UN worker with her 6 month old baby was killed in a strike 😔

Know her name. Not just another statistic
Our young colleague Dima Alhaj was tragically killed alongside her six-month-old baby, her husband and two brothers,"

Alongside 55 other people who were taking refuge

The US are refusing support for Israel in their bombing of southern Gaza where thousands are now sheltering.
The US said just because you tell the Palestinians to leave their country or an area does not justify killing them if they don’t.

Seems tame to be honest, better than nothing from the US, but still very tame.
Surely better to condemn bombing the whole of Gaza not just pick on ‘parts’ of it. Better still to stop all financial support and just come out and condemn this attack for what it is…..a genocide.

@Readingallnight it's nowhere near enough. Words won't do anything. Only if action is taken to prevent this

Absolutely and of course Biden knows this. He merely seeks to keep favour in the US.
Actions speak louder than words

@Parkingt111 what would you like him to do in light of a possible 'truce'?

Parkingt111 · 21/11/2023 20:24

I've been seeing on social media people are calling Biden "Genocide Joe".

I hope he is starting to feel some pressure.

Also saw this on Twitter / Reddit.

It begins. Biden & Netanyahu to discuss "Potential economic plans for Gaza centred around offshore natural gas fields"

Clearly not all hostages are equal in the eyes of the Israeli government.

Could it be because their governments might be trying to get them released ?
I know that Hamas said that if there was a pause they’d release the non Israel ones and if the Palestinian were released from prisiones then they’d release Israel ones as well? There is nobody from Spain taken hostage so my government isn’t doing anything but I know that the Thai one was

Stomacharmeleon · 21/11/2023 22:13

@Readingallnight I think that's a bit harsh under the circumstances and shows little insight. I imagine they will have a 'price' on their heads and value.

Wasn’t aware what Hamas said re non Israelis.
Thats good news.

this was a while back so unsure it still stands the case
also , some countries might prefer to do their negotiating rather than relying on Israel specially if you’re not keen on their government. So whilst I do want all hostages released I also understand Israel’s position about this

Readingallnight · 22/11/2023 02:17

Good news reported that a hostage release deal has been agreed.
50 Israeli and 150 Palestinian women and children are to be released over a period of 4 days during a ‘pause ‘ in fighting
Not exactly sure what pause in this situation means but as Israel has agreed to not fly over Gaza ( ie for surveillance ) during a six hour period each day I’m assuming the pause is for that duration.

The first release could happen on Thursday. There is a 24 hour delay to allow Israelis an opportunity to prevent the release of certain Palestinians after their names have been published by Israel today.

As part of the deal 300 aid trucks per day will be allowed to enter Gaza. Including fuel.
I have no idea if this is just for the duration of the hostage release period. I can’t find any more details on that.

The Israeli Govn has noted that any break in the ceasefire/ pause will be down to Hamas, whether it’s them or not, and then the deal is off.

It’s certainly something positive for once, not only hostage release but also aid for the Palestinians and let’s hope medical supplies get to all the hospitals that so desperately need it.
Lets hope also that everyone sticks to their side of this deal, if not I’m not sure people have time to wait for another.
