On the news: thousands of people sheltering in Al Shifa have been forced to leave the hospital, displaced YET AGAIN. Doctors refused to leave without their patients and were forced at gunpoint. Approx 150 patients who could not be removed have been left behind 💔💔💔

Ohlalalalala · 18/11/2023 08:59

😡
No words! Every time you think they can't go lower they sink even deeper. 😡

Dulra · 18/11/2023 09:01

Why are they evacuating them? They've control of the hospital why can't they leave the patients where they are? Are they planning to bomb it out of existence to get at the "tunnels" underneath

feralunderclass · 18/11/2023 09:02

I feel the world isn't going to be the same after this. How can a supposedly civil, democratic state be acting in this way?

feralunderclass · 18/11/2023 09:05

IDF have ordered them to move further south. They'll be in the Sinai before they know it.

ChickHenLittle · 18/11/2023 09:05

Three days after Israel dropped leaflets to warn people to leave Khan Younis, another warning to evacuate the city has been issued.
Khan Younis is the largest city in southern Gaza - where hundreds of thousands of people fled to after being told to evacuate the north.
As the humanitarian crisis is worsening in the packed city, Israel’s warnings suggested military operations there were imminent.
Mark Regev, an advisor to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, told US media while Israeli troops would have to go into the city to destroy Hamas tunnels and bunkers, people in Khan Younis could move west, “Where hopefully there will be tents and a field hospital”.
“I’m pretty sure that they won’t have to move again” if they moved west, he said.

From BBC News live updates.

Go south, it's the only safe place!
No, wait, it's not safe anymore - go west!

As long as he's "pretty sure" they won't have to move again, eh.

The IDF disgust me. Who is going to look after those patients. If they can't be moved they are in no position to meet their own basic needs.

If the IDF don't kill them they will die from dehydration or untreated medical problems. What a horrible way to die.

Presumably this is to allow the IDF to go in and manufacture more "evidence".

I hope the people issuing these inhumane orders never have another peaceful nights sleep, they don't deserve it.

Quite possibly. IDF now positing that the tunnels are very deep beneath the hospital

But as I said earlier as a Hamas government asset the hospital is fair game even without Hamas fighters/tunnels

feralunderclass · 18/11/2023 09:07

Israeli army have now taken over the hospital. 150 patients, including the babies, have been left behind. God help them 💔

feralunderclass · 18/11/2023 09:09

Israel are denying they have evacuated the hospital 😡

There are 4 doctors the hospital director and a team of nurses looking after them - and UN is sending help according to Al Jazeera [see above]

Yes they refused to leave. Israel have said all the doctors are lying, and that they are the humanitarian source for Al-Shifa. There are literally no words to describe this twisted, gaslighting, narcisstic, murderous government. I will be flying a 🇵🇸 today at the protest. The situation is simply unbelievable.

TokyoSushi · 18/11/2023 09:13

Morning. Not RTFT as have been really busy for a few days at work. A couple of questions if anybody has time to answer:

  • Any sign of the tunnels under the hospital? Do we think they're actually there?
  • If they're planning to obliterate Khan Younis (where they told people to go) where on Earth are people supposed to go then? I get the impression your choices are pretty much Gaza City, or Khan Younis? One is basically gone, the other seems about to go the same way...
  • The really tricky one, apparently there will be no ceasefire until the hostages are released. Where are the hostages? I'm not sure that they're being kept in a safe place fed and well... what if they, to use a euphemism 'can't return' - what then?

Good try

Have they forgotten that the internet/mobiles are back on?

And there's an AP journalist actually at the scene

Plus it's being reported in Israel by Israeli media

TokyoSushi · 18/11/2023 09:18

Just reading back a bit, they've given the hospital 1 hour to evacuate, and then what? They're going to bomb it? Oh my

Dulra · 18/11/2023 09:18

I currently have a family member extremely ill in ICU, if he was in Al Shifa he would not be able to survive an evacuation they would have to just let him die. It is beyond comprehension that they can even begin to believe an evacuation of all patients is possible they must know they are signing the death warrant for some

Dulra · 18/11/2023 09:23

Xenia · 18/11/2023 09:20

TokyoSushi, on the hostages sadly Israel found the bodies of 2 near the hospital. Presumably any others near by had been moved or were kept in a different part of the 300 miles of tunnels. https://www.telegraph.co.uk/world-news/2023/11/17/noa-marciano-hamas-hostage-body-idf-al-shifa-hospital-gaza/

On the tunnels they are still exploring them I think but they found this one -

https://www.timesofisrael.com/liveblog_entry/idf-reveals-entrance-to-hamas-tunnel-found-in-shifa-hospital-complex/

Not much use to them dead. At least they get to recover their bodies but there can be no doubt that the actions of IDF were never about rescuing hostages.

@Xenia was posted yesterday (late afternoon)

Doctors are reporting that there is no transport to take people anywhere, people either carried the injured out, pushed them on beds or in wheelchairs. There's nowhere to go and Israel have blocked ambulances, UN officials or any other humanitarian workers from entering the hospital reports a journalist who is near the complex.

Efacsen · 18/11/2023 09:39

Red Cross evacuating the prem babies and some of the critically ill patients remaining in the hospital to Egypt is being raised again

Communication with the hospital [along with a whole host of other difficulties] was a problem yesterday which has now improved

Egypt was offering to send ambulances for the evacuation if their safety could be assured

PeasfullPerson · 18/11/2023 10:13

This is so sad 😞 Thank you to the medical staff who tried their best 💔

There is another post in the ‘Conflict in the Middle East’ section about how to stop the rise of anti-semitism. Well I think the Israeli government have a lot to answer for on that one. Well done to them for spreading hate and anger and cruelty throughout the world. Well done to them for setting an example of how to behave. Well fucking done 👏 The pain and suffering they have caused is echoing through the universe. They don’t want peace. They want control. Stop murdering people. Shame on you. Shame on our government and the US government for being more concerned about politics and the words we use than the murder of innocent children. All people deserve dignity and respect. The more they ignore the suffering of the Palestinian people the more people will speak out for them. It is not that the horrors of the 7th October have been forgotten, it is that you have used that as justification for the murder of innocent civilians. Deescalate the violence before it spreads even further.

That’s one hell of a journey. Even with specialised equipment and proper medical support it will be a massive stress on their bodies.

Parkingt111 · 18/11/2023 10:16

The Israeli government have alot to answer for that's all I have to say
