@Efacsen I haven't seen any update on hospitals either.
Netanyahu said in an interview today that although they had tried to minimise civilian casualties, they hadn't been successful.
Understatement isn't the word.

The IDF overnight raided a hospital in the Jenin refugee camp in the occupied West bank. Three people have been killed and another 10 injured.

The staff were ordered to leave but they refused to leave their patients. The PRCS members left after being ordered to do so with their hands helps up

The situation in the west bank is reaching boiling point. It cannot continue like this

What reason are they giving for this? Are they saying Hamas are in the hospitals in the West Bank now too?

Parkingt111 · 17/11/2023 09:20

@PurpleCrocs3 I don't actually know. The news reports do not state a reason for the raid

Dulra · 17/11/2023 09:25

Video of the Irish Tánaiste (Deputy Prime minister) in a press conference with the Mayor of Sderot in Israel. Sticking to his guns for a humanitarian ceasefire despite the criticism from the mayor. We need more like this, Ireland is too small to have as much influence as the bigger States. From this video though you can see that they are angry with the marches and changing opinion in Europe

'I’m begging you - I ask you to support Israel' – tension boils over as Tánaiste confronted by Israeli mayor

Tánaiste Micheál Martin has warned the Israeli government that its war in Gaza risks more young people being radicalised and pushed into the arms of jihadist groups such as Hamas.

@PurpleCrocs3 IDK either but 2 or 3 days ago there was a bombing raid on Jenin and 13 Hamas fighters were killed - big funeral with armed Hamas fighters openly parading thro' the streets of Jenin

Maybe maybe the IDF had gone to the hospital to find the surviving fighters who were wounded in that attack?

UN warns of ‘immediate possibility of starvation’ in Gaza

The UN World Food Programme (WFP) has warned that the Gaza Strip now faces a “massive” food gap and widespread hunger while nearly the entire population of the Palestinian enclave is in “desperate” need of food assistance.

In a statement on Thursday, WFP executive director Cindy McCain said food and water supplies are “practically non-existent” in Gaza that “civilians are facing the immediate possibility of starvation.”

From the Guardian.

Absolutely inexcusable.

Parkingt111 · 17/11/2023 10:28

@greatsatsuma it is unacceptable to allow this to happen. I hope there is an intervention and somehow this is avoided and food can continue to be distributed. Is it not bad enough that that they are displaced and living in unsanitary conditions whilst still being bombed that now they face starvation too?
They were already many who were surviving on only one piece of bread a day

On the news: Al-Shifa hospital - many of the babies have died

  • 7000 are being held hostage
  • there is a supply of necessary medicine in hospital pharmacy but Israel denying access
  • no food, water, electricity or fuel

Director of Al-Shifa

feralunderclass · 17/11/2023 12:23

More than 55 killed during the 3 day hospital siege

feralunderclass · 17/11/2023 12:24

Israel have exhumed bodies from the mass grave and have confiscated them.

feralunderclass · 17/11/2023 12:34

Another baby dead in last few minutes

Parkingt111 · 17/11/2023 12:35

@feralunderclass where did you see about the babies? I really hope it's not true somehow

feralunderclass · 17/11/2023 12:36

@Parkingt111 Im watching Al Jazeera live.

feralunderclass · 17/11/2023 12:40

230 amputees with open wounds, some of them have lost all 4 limbs, most recent one is 4 year old boy. They are "inevitably going to die", infection has set it. - Dr Faisal, orthopaedic surgeon Al Shifa

Parkingt111 · 17/11/2023 12:43

@feralunderclass No words. These were preventable deaths that will be brushed under the carpet as collateral damage.
We can see how little value the lives of palestininan babies hold

Parker231 · 17/11/2023 13:20

Sky news article below.

It’s getting worse. The world is quite rightly critical of Hamas holding Israelis as hostages but what about the thousands of Palestinians being held hostage by Israel in an open air prison in Gaza?

I don't even know what to say anymore. It's heartbreaking, completely heartbreaking. One of my children is 4 and I don't know how I'd even begin to handle that.
May the Israeli government be held to account and never forgiven for this. May the world never forgive or forget. Condemnation and punishment, through official channels, for their crimes don't seem to be forthcoming but I can only hope they do at some point.

This is appalling. I shouldn't be shocked by anything the IDF do now but why?

The missing hostages is the only reason I can think Sad they sounded so sure they'd find at least some of them at the hospital

Artwhatttt · 17/11/2023 17:52

It’s not the hostages. How can they say they care about the hostages when they have been indiscriminately bombing everywhere for weeks. They are probably all blown up by now.

That video between Ireland and the Israel mayor is incredible. How can they talk of dead babies when they too are killing babies. It’s really making me angry now. Really fucking angry. They are too traumatised to have any rational thinking. The world absolutely needs to step in and say no. Enough is fucking enough! US are absolute bloody cowards and so are we for going along with this. And we aren’t even cowards because Israel isn’t going to do anything to us. So what is it? Spineless indifference. I have no fucking idea.

And I am not just angry at Israel and our govs. I am angry FOR Israel. For all the normal civilians. They will never be safe again. How can you possibly expect to be safe and have peace when you have done this. Their government have absolutely fucked it. And so have we.

And goes without saying I am angry for Gaza.

Fucking fuming

Well they're doing what we have done too, and we don't want to start telling other countries what tactics they can employ against terrorists otherwise we may be restricted by that in future. I'm not defending it, I am just saying why I think they are not doing what you want them to.

Parkingt111 · 17/11/2023 18:05

@Iwantcakeeveryday except for the billions given by the US to Israel in military aid which directly affects the abilities of how this war can be carried out.
And to some extent they are telling them what to do. It's just Netanyahu doesn't always listen
Like today Israel said they will allow in some fuel for the UN trucks (although what they are saying they will allow is literally crumbs) but ended with because Washington has asked us too.
And yes Biden is most certainly spineless.

Parkingt111 · 17/11/2023 18:10

@Iwantcakeeveryday in all honesty I don't think Biden realised what a crazy lunatic Netanyahu would have turned out to be at the start of this war. He keeps distancing himself now but its abit late after giving the green light to him to do whatever he wanted at the start
