This is how the report was concluded, they are seeing first hand the absolute destruction to get to Al shifa hospital and all for what?

After almost 24 hours securing and searching the hospital, Israel says it has found weapons and other equipment that could help provide information on both Hamas fighters and the hostages. But it has its hands on neither.

We leave the hospital, and rumble down the wide avenue that leads to Gaza's coastal road. Gaza City is now ruled by tanks. The ghostly avenues look in places like an earthquake zone, the destruction is so severe.
It is clear what it took for Israel to get control of these streets.

"One former defence official, who couldn't be named due to his active reserve duty service, was even blunter, saying: 'They have turned huge swathes of the Strip into legitimate military targets. These sons of b have intentionally put their tunnels under houses, mosques and hospitals to maximise civilian casualties. It's not just cynical, it's pure evil.'
An important question remains: how is Hamas able to spend millions of pounds acquiring the concrete, electricity and litres of fuel and oxygen needed to build all this when Gaza is supposedly under total lockdown by Israel?
The answer is as simple as it is depressing. 'For years the international community has been sending cement into Gaza for housing, and Hamas has stolen it,' says the senior Israeli official. 'No one can stop them because they are the only people in Gaza with guns.'
He continues: 'They need the fuel for their rockets but also to keep the oxygen and lights on in the tunnels. This is why they steal fuel from Gazan civilians and humanitarian aid deliveries — whether it is desalination materials for water or, most terribly, fuel to power generators for hospitals.' "

Israeli soldiers prepare to storm Hamas tunnels beneath Gaza

As the battle intensifies around the al-Shifa Hospital in Gaza City - and the grim tally of dead civilians continues to rise - the Israel Defence Forces are determined to root out their enemy.

3 babies that were in incubators have died as there is hardly any fuel left in Gaza. IDF could have let them have fuel - they did not. One ICU patient has died.

Wards are being evacuated and filled with poisonous dust from bombings. Bodies are piling up in the hospital compound.

All of this spreads illness and disease and stops medical staff from being able to do their jobs, leading to more suffering and death.

There will be a lot more deaths as a result of the lack of medical supplies and the grotesque conditions that staff and patients are being put in.

OpenLanes · 15/11/2023 10:07

What should the Israeli government do?
Obviously the current solution isn't good. But I've yet to hear of an actual solution.
If it was your family members butchered and tortured in that way, and then being held by the "people" who did it, what solution would you want?

And I'm not saying what they're doing is right. But clearly doing nothing isn't an option, and I've yet to see an alternative suggested.
Should they just stop and leave hamas to continue?
How can they fully clear the area of civilians when Egypt won't allow it?

Use intelligence and Mossad to carry out targeted raids and arrests, like in the West Bank. There is absolutely no need for them to be enforcing horrific collective punishment, killing babies, kids, pregnant women, women, men - all innocent life.

This is deliberate. This is genocide and it is a symptom of the Israeli apartheid regime.

The bunker and tunnels under the hospital were built by Israel. Stop reading a gossip rag for news.

Right, so your reaction to babies in incubators being taken out and dying is “oh well, could have been worse.”

Did you not read the rest of my post? Every single Palestinian death was preventable. They are doing this intentionally.

It's easy to say that when they're just numbers, but they're all someone's child and will leave behind devastated relatives. The babies barely had a chance at life before they died unnecessarily.

It isn't as easy as just moving them out of Gaza either. Moving a baby from one NICU to another in the UK is a very complex process, still very risky and only done if necessary here. Now imagine that in a war zone... moving them may kill them too.

There should be no forgiveness for this. It's barbaric.

Parkingt111 · 16/11/2023 13:28

@Rammer the doctors have said there has been many other very preventable sad deaths due to no fuel to run the equipment needed aswell as not enough medical supplies. Unfortunately as no fuel has still been allowed in the hospital despite the IDF presence there, the deaths are likely to increase.
There are currently around 50 dialysis patients who have been unable to have dialysis for the last 5 days. If this continues they will also likely die
The situation at the hospital is extremely dire

Readingallnight · 16/11/2023 13:30

Lapid is calling for Netanyahu to resign and the removal of the far right
He is in favour of a Palestinian state.
Articles in ( for example ) The Times of Israel and Al Jazeera.

After just returning from Israel I can confirm support is waning. People are embarrassed that they previously ‘celebrated’ and fully supported Israel’s attack on Gaza, the civilian population and the settlers incursions, demolitions and taking of Palestinians properties. There is obvious support and people are blatant in this, but underneath there is an increasing silence with many no longer able to even discuss it.

@Rammer regardless of who one chooses to blame it cannot be denied that the situation across all remaining hospital including Al Shifa is catastrophic. It is unfathomable how this is being allowed to happen when it can easily be prevented now that the IDF are present there. This is today from sky

"The reports I'm getting are of a devastating scenario where people are rapidly dying," he added.
Inside al Shifa, which is the biggest hospital in the region, Prof Maynard said there were around 60 patients in need of regular dialysis who would be "slowly dying of kidney failure".
He explained patients in the renal department need dialysis every two to three days but have been left without treatment for at least five.
"The contacts I have been speaking to assume, with some justification, that they will all die," he said.
Yesterday, Israeli forces claimed to have delivered incubators, medical supplies and baby food to the hospital, but Prof Maynard said his contacts had reported the provisions were not being released for "use by doctors or patients".
"None of the aid has got to where it is actually needed," he said.
It is also worth pointing out that hospitals are not necessarily short of medical equipment, but the power and fuel to use them.

Question is how much support does Lapid have in Israel? Again not very familiar with Israeli politics so is it likely to happen

Everyone involved in this are individuals and there is probably only. A. Small number that one could say are purely evil (please don't use this as an invition to list those you think are)

What is the need for rudeness like this? I wasn't planning on replying as you seem intent on grouping people according to your perception of why they feel the way they do.
Do bear in mind some people have personal reasons for being 'invested' and such posts are in poor taste. That's all I have to say.

It would, but as you say, depends on level of support. I suppose it's the same as in the UK, polls sometimes suggest a clear win for one party and the other just scrapes ahead.
I do think Netanyahu needs to go, but hope he isn't replaced by someone worse.

If only this was true and not that they had been disconnecting babies from incubators and hadn’t brought anything with them …. “”

idf aren’t heroes whilst they continue targeting innocent people”

You really believe the idf would turn up and disconnect babies from incubators?!

Yes.

The incubators need electricity from generators run on petrol which IDF will not allow into Gaza.

The few litres offered Al Shifa which they made a promo film about the other day were not enough for an hour or two’s worth.

Celebrations in the streets every time the number of Palastinian deaths was announced and the truly disgusting reaction as everyone waited for the IDF to enter al-Shifa was something I hope I will never have to see or hear again.

There is an obvious, outward support for Netanyahu’s campaign.
There is an obvious hate for the Palestinian people.
Those with this view are outspoken and have no shame in the killing of civilians.
However. As it has become fairly obvious the ‘evidence’ from al-Shifa is fake and support across the world is waning there is a growing silence.

Less people are talking about what is going on in a positive way.
There is a silence, embarrassment I think.

Anyone who speaks out now is very brave to do so and some definitely are.

In terms of what happens to Netanyahu, I have no idea. Personally I think with support waning he will go, maybe just not in time to save the Palestinian people.

From the Guardian 13 Nov:
“Dozens of corpses lay on the courtyard outside Gaza’s largest hospital, covering the ground next to a blue refrigerated truck that had long ceased to be able to keep the bodies cool. Most of the bodies were shrouded in colourful blankets originally meant for the living, after the hospital ran out of white bodybags. A severely burnt arm protruded from one of the blankets. Elsewhere, according to video footage seen by the Guardian, the charred body of a child was visible among the soft folds of the material.

“We are under siege,” said Munir al-Boursh, a doctor who is also a Palestinian health ministry undersecretary, speaking from inside Dar al-Shifa hospital. The facility had intended to dig a mass grave until Israeli tanks and snipers encircled the the complex on Friday, making movement around it impossible…..”
