Shocked by the racist signs at marches

Maybe I’m just severely naive but I’m honestly just shocked at the levels of racism of some of the signs at these marches. It’s just caught me really, really off guard.

I saw that - he abused the vendor over a period of 2 weeks. The islamophobic hate speech that came out of his mouth is disgusting. Apparently police were notified multiple times but said they couldn’t do anything as it was “free speech”. If he had targeted another religion with his bile I very much doubt that would have been the response.

Fyi his name is Stuart Seldowitz. apparently he was a US State Department official for more than 30 years. A former deputy director of the Office of Israel and Palestinian affairs. In one video he actually says “if we killed 4000 Palestinian kids, it wasn’t enough”.

This the type of bias that Palestinians are up against.

🤮🤮🤮🤮

Just seen this. " In the video he is seen calling pro-Palestinian protesters 'terrorists'.

How many Pro-Palestinian marchers were charged for shouting racist abuse like Israel is a terrorist state?

None.

2 tier policing and fear of dealing with the marchers.

"PC Andrew Dobson from the Metropolitan Police said: “Criminal damage and offensive comments of this nature are completely unacceptable and our team are doing all we can to identify those responsible. "
So the Met that comments like Israel is a terrorist state is offensive, so why aren't they arresting the thousands screaming this at marches?

I know. It is just me pondering out loud. You will have to forgive me, I do that from time to time.

Did you know that the poster you are asking for forgiveness for has stated in another thread that Israel is committing a definite genocide and that "It seems many in the Israeli government are nothing more than state sanctioned terrorists"?

Sugaristheenemy · 22/11/2023 12:50

That poster is quite level headed on the whole. As I’m sure Truly is aware.

Stomacharmeleon · 22/11/2023 12:56

@tobeinthemaldives I think we have all noticed... but I agree with @Sugaristheenemy

Parkingt111 · 22/11/2023 12:57

@tobeinthemaldives do I believe Israel is committing a genocide? Yes I do and If you read the full threads you will see i have stated the reasons why I believe so and it's not a unique view that only I hold but many who are experts on the issue.
Do I think people like Itamir ben gvir who was convicted of supporting a terrorist group as a state sanctioned terrorist? Yes I do. I have yet to come across a single person on this thread who has anything good to say about him.

I see this is the second or third time you have referenced towards me but I don't understand why you can't just bring it up with me directly if you disagree. I can say my points and if you disagree you can say yours. Maybe we will see each others points or maybe we will have to agree to disagree

I don't see why it has to be done like this instead.
Myself and @Trulywonderful have had many discussions. Someone who I have learnt alot from. If she objected to my points i would be more than happy to listen to what she has to say even if I did disagree

Well he seems to have a mental illness or something doesn't he

Oh the nutters are coming out of the woodwork in general

Despite whatever different religious text may say and most have some really dodgy verses, people don't need to harass others in the street over them. Though mostly it is just a way to be nasty to each other in these cases.

Parkingt111 · 22/11/2023 13:07

And thank you for calling me level headed but I can say myself i haven't always been and there might be times in future that I do err. Just point it out to me directly
None of us can claim to be perfect here. This war is clearly one that has strong opinions on both sides.

Trulywonderful · 22/11/2023 13:08

3and2ready · 22/11/2023 09:51

the evil in this Zionist’s eyes. Kicked up a storm on most social platforms overnight. Disgusting.

Sod off with your Zionist talk. This is just someone with poor mental heath as you can see in his eyes. Looks like he needs medication. Especially as he went back again. Regular people don't do that.

Trulywonderful · 22/11/2023 13:11

etmoiandme · 22/11/2023 09:54

@Trulywonderful Yes, and the thing is they've been around for ages just waiting for something like this to happen, enabling them to be more explicit and visible with their hatred because they believe they have an audience now that are more willing to listen to them. They are positively relishing in this war which they are using as a vehicle to mainstream their hatred, and certainly don't give two hoots about Palestinian lives, just their own white, middle class tribal politics.

It's really distressing because it's just a matter of time before their methods become more akin to the far right's (I suppose they are already) and then - what does that mean for us, as British Jews? Hide? Change names? I was just thinking this morning that I'm glad myself and kids have DH's Irish surname, and I'm not really a great believer in women taking their husband's name. It just makes things easier, sadly.

Yes I hear you

Trulywonderful · 22/11/2023 13:16

etmoiandme · 22/11/2023 10:43

@Stomacharmeleon Thing is, I don't think they're actually threatened by them. They're doing it specifically to make others feel threatened and intimidated.

This

Some of them like their mind games and this is something they are enjoying. Look at how many photos of people smiling and laughing I as they ripped down hostage posters I put on the call out thread.

Yes it doesn't suit the narrative they are pushing for people to be reminded of the hostages Nd how things started this time around. However they are actually really having fun and enjoying all this too. Look at the conversation I posted about two women at work. They were talking like the marches were a good giggle and saying what fun they had.

etmoiandme · 22/11/2023 13:23

@Trulywonderful Yes, it's performative - you can see it in the way some of them relish being filmed taking down the posters. But what they're also doing is reminding Jewish communities in their own neighbourhoods in the West just how small (and defenseless) they are and effectively telling them to stay in their lane. Pure crowing and intimidation.

I was addressing the fact my own post was me pondering about something rather than having hard facts in that case. The poster was right to say it was a bit on the edge and not like myself. I could have challenged that poster with evidence to back myself up but overall I believe they had a point about my post.

If I am wrong I say I am wrong. It doesn't matter if the other poster has different views from myself or sometimes posts disturbing things. That is just how I tick.

Parkingt111 · 22/11/2023 13:36

@Trulywonderful thank you
Also in regards to the post about the man shouting islamophobic abuse I don't think this was the right place for the poster to post it.

and he might have issues as you say but the man in the video is actually Stuart Seldowitz, who was Deputy Director in the US State Department's Office of Israel and Palestinian Affairs from 1999 to 2003
I think that's one of the reasons it has gone viral and attracted widespread attention to see such conduct from a man who had such direct involvement in palestinian affairs

But this is my last post on this thread
We will hopefully speak again some other time on different threads

In London it is making them look like they did in 2021 on those protests. They may have got pre designed and printed sign now unlike in 2021, so they stay on message and don't let the mask slip. However the protesters that are only there because of Jew hate are not fooling many here. Every time they rip posters, start a convoy, protest in a tube station or harass a Jewish person on a bus they are doing the Gazens a disservice. The general public just see them as the same people waving antisemitic signs in 2021.

Sod off with your support for this racists vile vermin of a man. Have you actually watched the videos? His eyes show evil not a mental illness. You do know it’s been investigated and this racist scumbag worked for the UN state department? Nothing mentally wrong with him. Ffs. He’s currently regretting his decisions to abuse and terrorise the vendor as his videos have spread like wildfire and was trending on every social platform.
your reaction reminds me of when a Muslim commits attacks on innocents he is labelled as a terrorist and extremist. When a non Muslim does exactly the same or worse he has mental health issue. Wow. Thank god ignorant people like you in real life are rare. As you know you’re convincing no one really. And those like you that do exist, wouldn’t dare show their true colours in open to others.

@Parkingt111 i saw the title: racist signs and assumed it was about racism. All racism involving the conflict. Didn’t realise it was for posts that were about racism against Jews only and not about Islamophobia.

If you posted that on here just to show Islamophobia then I would have been the first to agree with you

However once you add the Zionist crap you lost any credibility

I an not defending him. I am saying him being a Zionist or not is beside the point. The man is obviously mentally ill to be doing that. Don't you think people that stalk others of a different race or religion must be mentally ill to act this way? 🙄

In his case he literally looks like he escaped from a mental health hospital with his eyes and facial expression. That is my genuine thought on this.

If you look on these threads and others before I and others have posted about Islamophobic incidents too. I added lots of links and information about arrests for this on the last thread

You literally are talking rubbish again

It is and we posted about islamophobic on that one and I posted about arrests on both sides etc too. Even though the thread wasn't about both.

Dear Parkingt111,

Sorry - you are right. I should have brought this up with you directly. I do apologise. It was cowardly of me.

However, I note that the comment "It seems many in the Israeli government are nothing more than state sanctioned terrorists"?" has been deleted in that thread.
You said "many" not one person. That's not acceptable and it appears Mumsnet agrees with me.

Those marchers in the UK have been screaming "Israel is a terrorist state" and "PC Andrew Dobson from the Metropolitan Police said: “Criminal damage and offensive comments of this nature are completely unacceptable and our team are doing all we can to identify those responsible. " He was referring to graffiti on a statue stating precisely this:"Israel is a terrorist state".

Additionally, "state sanctioned" to me implies that the whole state including the people are allowing it. To me - and I state to me - it sounds anti-Semitic.
Just my opinion. .
