Maybe I’m just severely naive but I’m honestly just shocked at the levels of racism of some of the signs at these marches. It’s just caught me really, really off guard.

@Trulywonderful not again....

Sugaristheenemy · 22/11/2023 14:33

And thank you for calling me level headed but I can say myself i haven't always been and there might be times in future that I do err.
Well..comparatively speaking you are one more level headed people here imo 😉

Just point it out to me directly
It wasn’t actually me who was complaining about you.

Parkingt111 · 22/11/2023 14:38

@tobeinthemaldives that's because there are many in the government who hold extremist views. Its been pointed out by many others on here from people of all different stances.

I didn't intend for it to mean the whole state is behind it. It was just this morning that another pro Israeli poster said they don't agree with many of these politicians and called them nut jobs which I agree to.

But yes i concede i could have worded that better. Just to clarify by state sanctioned my intention was sanctioned by the head of state I.e Netanyahu

Parkingt111 · 22/11/2023 14:40

@Sugaristheenemy that last sentence wasn't directed to you just a general statement
Thank you once again 😊

Parkingt111 · 22/11/2023 14:53

@tobeinthemaldives i couldn't edit the post but wanted to add thank you for the apology and it's ok no hard feelings

I'm sorry but this is pure opinion. I don't happen to agree at all and in my opinion, Israel needs to be protected so the diaspora have somewhere to live. Your opinions often sound as though they are rooted in fact.

Parkingt111 · 22/11/2023 15:03

@tobeinthemaldives we will have to agree to disagree then as I stand by that. In my opinion there are many who do and have said some horrible vile comments that should not be said by members of a democratic state

Trulywonderful · 22/11/2023 15:07

I agree with both of you.

Firstly Israel does need to protect itself. That has become blatantly clear for anyone not aware of this over the past few weeks

Secondly yes there are some right wing vile politicians in their government at the moment. However that is not the case for everyone running the show or every politician. It is much like here in that sense. A right mixture across all parties.

I was there too and being Jewish was with many male Jewish protesters who were wearing their kippah. I also saw a few Orthodox Jews and a few rabbis as well. I didn’t experience any antiSemitism and saw only one antisemitic placard which a group of four of us did challenge, the person didn’t realise and binned it. It was one that showed the Star of David with blood dripping off it. They intended it to represent the flag of Israel & Israel’s war crimes. We gently said the star is a universal symbol of the Jewish faith, so not really the best way to express Israel’s war crimes. It was a friendly and peaceful exchange to educate someone who didn’t have hateful intent.

It wasn’t widespread at all. It was Braverman’s prejudiced narrative to call these hate marches and mobs and proHamas- it’s what got her the sack.

Interesting that many orthodox Jews were present as it was a Saturday -unless hey were very local, they would not have taken transport...

Sod off with your Zionist talk. This is just someone with poor mental heath as you can see in his eyes. Looks like he needs medication. Especially as he went back again. Regular people don't do that.

He says he’s a Zionist himself. He says he’s proud to support the Zionist movement and hates Islam and Muslims. He has been very vocal about it on his personal social media accounts that have been exposed.
Even in that small video he can clearly be heard saying if we killed 4k babies of Palestine, it wasn’t enough!? He’s an advocate of Islamophobia . Why would you say poor mental health? He’s sane. More intelligent than the you and I. Has a powerful position within the UN, so clearly feels he’s untouchable. Worked for the UN in various roles and also is an advisor as well as does some journalism. Since his videos have been leaked and more about him exposed, no one has felt sorry for him or excused his racism as being of ill mental health. Even daily mail readers are disgusted at this vile racist vermin and that’s saying something. He’s conducted interviews in response to his videos and he is in shock that he has been exposed this way. The public response is of disgust and disbelief. He is feeling very concerned now and that will probably affect his mental health and good, it should. The impact of his racist and sadistic videos will destroy him and that’s what should happen.

@Trulywonderful isn't saying he isn't zionist. Its your language thats the problem. 'Evil zionist'? Him being zionist has nothing to do with him being evil. If someone said 'evil muslim' or 'evil jew' it would be called out, quite rightly. I am sick and tired of this board and its double standards. You don't need to convince anyone he is an awful man. Singling out someones identity and pairing it with the word, 'evil' is deliberate to me.

Stomacharmeleon · 22/11/2023 16:34

@3and2ready I hope that's the same for all who feel it's ok to publicise radical views.

@RebekaTuwin I am glad it was 'gentle' and taken well. That is not the general consensus for those on the marches who have antisemitic banners. Would you really say that banner had no hateful intent? I suggest your somewhat naive or perhaps.....

Yes so it does seem a little naïve. Now, I am not of course, suggesting of course, that the poster is not genuine or Jewish but I am a little dubious at "I was there too and being Jewish was with many male Jewish protesters who were wearing their kippah. I also saw a few Orthodox Jews and a few rabbis as well."

See - I really don't think that there would have been Rabbis and orthodox Jews out on Shabbat for obvious reasons and obviously presenting as Jewish in crowds like this. I haven't seen any photos of Saturday marches with Orthodox Jews and not saying there aren't any and this didn't happen.

I have also read a few posts on other boards with "I am Jewish...but" and then follow up with some rather surprising anti-Semitic sounding comments. I haven't seen many posts where posters say " I am Muslim" for example, but I am sure there are...

Sorry but I don’t think you’re being fair. Zionism is a political ideology not a religion. There are plenty of Zionists who are not Jewish (Joe Biden - a self declared Zionist - being just one example). There are also Jews who are not Zionist. A number have been bravely protesting Israel’s actions very publically.

People can criticize political ideologies they don’t support without racist intentions even if a proportion of those who follow that ideology are of a particular religion. Would you have had an issue if @3and2ready said the man was an ‘evil’ EDL member or an ‘evil’ Socialist ? The double standard here is the constant conflation between Zionism and Judaism to censor any type of criticism about Zionism on the grounds that it’s automatically anti-Semitic.

The vast majority of jewish people in Israel are zionist. Do you know what the word means? It doesn't seem like many people actually do.

John Aziz is a British Palestinian, btw, who is very anti Hamas and supportive of Israel.
