Conflict in the Middle East

To think Israel won't exist much longer?

sergeantsalt · 28/10/2023 07:56

Support in the west is declining, and when Israel doesn't have weapons and defense funding they won't be able to defend against their neighbouring countries on their own. AIBU to wonder how much longer it can exist given they are losing support?

It's looking more and more like there won't be any Palestinians anymore.

The majority of Palestinians do not live in Gaza so they will still exist in name where they can use the name safely. Without a state, their dispersement will solely lead to their extinction and will be a heritage but not a nationality. There are over 3 million Palestinians in the West Bank (not under Hamas control but still a major point of conflict), 3 million in Jordan, over half a million in each of Syria, Chile, Saudi Arabia, over a quarter million in each of Qatar, USA, UAE, and Lebanon and about 2.5 million in Israel (although as mentioned earlier they can not call themselves Palestinians there but rather are identified as Israeli Arabs).

I would imagine taking back the remaining settlements in the West Bank will be Isreal's next goal once Gaza is gone.

Also, where are all the videos of Israeli’s being attacked/bombed? I haven’t seen a single one.

In literally every mainstream newspaper every day. There was something in the Times this morning, as a starter for ten. I have parents in tlv and wider family in a suburb an hour away - would you like one of their phone numbers so they can tell you how many times they and their kids decamped to a safe room or bomb shelter last night? Because Hamas is still firing rockets over.

FloweryName · 28/10/2023 08:58

Unfortunately they seem to have the full support of some of the richest governments in the world no matter how disgusting their actions are so I can’t see Israel being stopped any time soon.

They have no idea what they look like to the rest of the world.

grayhairdontcare · 28/10/2023 08:58

@TwilightSkies you seriously have not seen any pictures or videos of the Hammas attacks? Wow!

FromEden · 28/10/2023 08:59

YABU. The only Jewish state in the world has a right to exist and will continue to. But weird how you think it is or should be in jeopardy?

Biden has long stated that America would have created an Israel if there wasn't one. So he will never let it cease to exist.

https://www.haaretz.com/israel-news/2020-12-28/ty-article/rare-1986-document-reveals-bidens-views-on-israel-and-saudi-arabia/0000017f-f2ca-d8a1-a5ff-f2ca769b0000

I mean after Biden. This next generation is very anti Israel. Many US reps are anti Israel. One covered Israel on her office map with a Palestine sticker and wore a shirt with Israel covered in Palestinian flags. Once that is the majority opinion how can it survive?

So Israel are seeming being given carte blanche to virtually wipe out The Gaza Strip and we just say get on with it , do you need anymore bombs or rockets ? We can do you a good deal .

That doesn't sit well with me i'm afraid

It's not the majority opinion. Those US reps will be voted out. Hate to break it you but, the "majority opinion" doesn't support children being slaughtered and burnt alive in their own homes. The next generation will grow up and see sense, like we all did

AluckyEllie · 28/10/2023 09:08

Its the US only ally in an area of the world they distrust so I think they will support it for a long time.

I don’t think there will be no Palestinians in Gaza either. I think Gaza will suffer from horrific destruction until israel feels that Hamas and it’s infrastructure is destroyed and then they will create a DMZ between Gaza and Israel and leave them to their own devices. No healthcare aid, no electricity and no water.

At which point the international community will step in to provide aid and re-build.

TintinHadToBeMale · 28/10/2023 09:11

A concerning op while attacks on Jews in Britain are apparently on the rise. Many people were, I think, more sympathetic to Palestine before they launched their massacre.

Don't assume that purple haired people with Palestine flags in their twitter bios represent the majority of public opinion.

👍🏻. Or that they have the slightest clue about global history/politics aside from what they've gleaned from TikTok over the last 3 weeks.

There’s a few people on this thread that don’t understand the difference between anti semitism and anti zionism.

There is a worldwide problem with Islamic extremist terrorism. Israel Is an important ally in that fight. Palestinians are not really welcome as refugees in other Muslim countries. Other Muslim countries may pay lip service to the cause but have enough issues of their own. Israel has been normalising relations with many Muslim neighbours. Israel is a big power and many countries rely on its technology.

You don’t want them to wipe out hamas. They have no choice israel didn’t ask for this was. Now they have it they have to win it.

Do you actually know any Muslims? The ones i know would agree that extremists do not represent Islam any more than you do.

What is your view on the existence of Israel?

Exist or not

Support in the west is declining? OK you've stated your position...

Nice bit of casual islamaphobia here. Most Palestinians are not terrorists funnily enough 🙄

AdrianaLaCerva · 28/10/2023 09:22

That’s what Hamas want OP, but thankfully it will never happen.

Wiping out an entire population isn't really the answer is it .

They are not only targeting Hamas by carpet bombing an entire country
