Something I keep coming back to.. for the people whose sympathies lie with the Palestinians and think an eye for an eye and that Hamas have been pushed to act the way they have, how do you justify the brutal rape of women by Hamas?

I meant to also say that I am sorry you felt it was implied that you are a rape denier, especially as a rape survivor. People shouldn’t throw terms like that around at individuals they don’t really know, and without proper evidence. I think it all got sorted out from the sounds of things, and hopefully it wasn’t aimed at you anyway.

@ScrollingLeaves I literally emailed Mumsnet straight away and explained where it was meant to be. Hence them being happy to withdraw it.
It wasn't meant as a personal dig even on the thread it was supposed to be on.

And I'm sorry that people go out of their way to come on to a thread about Israeli rape victims to deny they were raped. But it looks like MNHQ have sorted that out too.

From your article:

"Reported rape crimes against Palestinian women come a few days after a new forensic analysis by Al Jazeera debunked Israel’s rape claims against Hamas."

...?!?!?

"Reported rape crimes against Palestinian women come a few days after a new forensic analysis by Al Jazeera debunked Israel’s rape claims against Hamas."

A balanced, neutral source then I see.

What happened to "I believe women"?

EasterIssland · 24/03/2024 16:45

It was the first source that was in google. It’s strange how you prefer to say something about it when it’s been spoken about 7-O already and there is a thread about al jazeeras report without saying a single word about the actual news : women have been raped in the hospital in the last few days by IDF. I’m not even surprised about the actual news being ignored by some posters.

Sadly, many people have an unspoken "except for Muslim/Palestinian women" at the end of that.

There are eyewitness accounts, first hand accounts coming out from Gaza of women experiencing sexual harassment, sexual assault and rape.

Just as our starting point for reports of sexual violence and harm from the events of 7/10 should be to believe women, our starting point for these emerging accounts should be the same. Rape and other sexual violence is a frequent occurrence in conflicts, and we need to investigate and condemn it wherever it occurs.

Scirocco · 24/03/2024 17:12

And, significantly, that article reports an allegation of systematic sexual abuse. Systematic being very relevant in legal processes.

SomeCatFromJapan · 24/03/2024 17:14

It was the first source that was in google.

Might have been better to find a less rape-deniery one under the circumstances.

Please don't imply that the rape of women is any kind of gotcha moment for anyone, what an unnecessary and ill judged comment

Title of this thread
“Justifying the rape of women”

Can you let me know how the rape of Palestinian women have got no space on this thread ? Thanks

Dulra · 24/03/2024 19:08

@EasterIssland didn't even notice that, yes why would you have to discuss the rape of women on a different thread to the thread that is titled justifying the rape of women?

What happened to "I believe women"?

It is one person's testimony, reported in an extremely biased publication. What else can we do at this stage but keep an open mind?
