Justifying the rape of women

Something I keep coming back to.. for the people whose sympathies lie with the Palestinians and think an eye for an eye and that Hamas have been pushed to act the way they have, how do you justify the brutal rape of women by Hamas?

@stomachamelon What she's saying is hearsay though. No actual evidence in the report.

The report says that not a single victim of sexual assault has been positively identified either living or dead.

I agree that we should believe all women but not a single woman has been identified so far.

Yes quite. I will listen to women, when they speak about their experiences.

I won't listen to projection and speculation from people who have no idea. Interestingly the UN report implied the media behaviour was counterproductive because it could be stopping victims coming forward for fear they would not remain anonymous.

Norman Finkelstein, the David Icke of political history 🤷🏾‍♀️

Your opinion. I don't agree with every thing he says but he has made some very interesting points. I also find it interesting that he is barred from entering Israel.
Why are they afraid of him? I thought freedom of speech was a corner stone of a democracy.

Did you not see any of the Nova Festival survivor testimonies on YouTube (etc) in the immediate aftermath? Or did you think people could fake that level of visible trauma?

I don't think they're afraid of him, so much as feeling he doesn't belong in Israel since making a living out of claims that the Holocaust is basically a money-spinner for them.

Thank you for your post. Any minimising of the atrocities committed by Hamas on October 7th is awful to see.

Yes, and unfortunately there is so much of it here on MN, together with dismissing Israel's response as "disproportionate" and "unnecessary."

I think that you are referring to his views on how the survivors of the Holocaust barely received any compensation ( his mother received £3500) while some organisations received millions, which were not passed down to the victims of this evil. This is documented, by the way.
This is not the thread to discuss this and I am fully aware that this is controversial but I still think that freedom of speech is essential in any democracy.

stomachamelon · 13/03/2024 09:42

If only more countries stopped people entering them who do them irreparable damage. Why would Israel want him there? It's not being scared it's being sensible.

I take you don't support of freedom of speech, a right you are exercising right now. I also fail to understand how he has caused irreparable damage. I would welcome your explanation on this.

I see my post has been deleted. At some point, the truth is going to be so overwhelming obvious that it will be impossible to suppress it.

Mine was deleted yesterday too. Censorship is strong.

Israel's response is disproportionate there is nothing unfortunate about pointing that out on mumsnet it is important we do

Not just people on Mumsnet I hate to tell you. But of course everyone else's opinion is dismissed too. 7th march 2024 Geneva
" Israeli armed forces are reported to have repeatedly violated the duties of distinction, proportionality and precaution, as well as the prohibition of indiscriminate and disproportionate attacks under international humanitarian law, and to have failed in their duty to respect, protect and fulfil the right to life of the population of Gaza and the West Bank, resulting in the deaths of tens of thousands of protected persons, including a large number of children, women and the elderly, which may amount to grave breaches of international humanitarian law and international human rights law, including war crimes and crimes against humanity."
UN experts urge the international community to step up pressure to end crimes, uphold international law and save lives in Gaza | OHCHR

It is always disproportionate (regardless of provocation) to starve a population of 2.5 million people, knowing half of them are children and more at risk of malnutrition.

I doubt very much any of the rape victims think thousands of children deserve to die in retaliation for their trauma. In fact, if that were me I think it would make me feel even more traumatised to have my rape used in such a way.

It wasn't on this thread and if you are calling me, a rape denier you are attacking me personally, which is against Mumsnet rules. Furthermore, I am a rape survivor. Your unfounded accusation is highly offensive. I hope you will apologise.

I didn't call you a rape denier. I said some of the deleted posts involved denial. If your deleted post was on another thread I don't see what relevance it has to this one.

Auvergne63 · 13/03/2024 14:34

You said," apparently, rape denial is against them" therefore you assumed that my post was deleted because it fell in that category. In conclusion, you implied I was a rape denier.

answered this time. Sorry it annoys you. Just following etiquette.
It's not all about you... strangely.
Wrong thread. Have sent a message to Mumsnet. Am too embarrassed to say which one it's supposed to be on!
Nothing related! :)

Do you mean to be so condescending in your reply and to make sly digs? You posted straight under my post. I think it is logical conclusion to think that it was meant for me.

I had thought this too.

To be fair, Stomachameleon, your post may have been accidentally there under Auvergne’s post, but no one could have known it was accidental at the time. I had certainly thought it was aimed at Auvergne63, and can see why they were upset.

Anyway, it’s good to know it wasn’t meant for Auvergne.

Why did mnhq delete the post - Do you know?
