Conflict in the Middle East

How effective is Israeli bombing, anyway?

According to Hamas figures, Israel has dropped 12,000 tonnes of explosives on Gaza. 6000 people have died.

Hamas terrorists killed 1400 Jews with just what they could carry on trucks and motorbikes.

It almost looks like Israel is trying to minimize casualties, doesn't it?

A completely impossible situation Bibi has put the country in.
You have pressure from the families of the hostages, pressure from Hamas, pressure from your enemies as well as your allies. As soon as the coffins come home of Israeli solders there will be no support at home.

His policies of alienating moderate Palestinian authority and unofficially supporting Hamas has backfired so dramatically that I can not understand why on earth he is not thrown out.

Yes I was on another thread but it's just gone crazy out of control. As much anger and hurt I feel for the innocent palestinians I also feel for the poor hostages. What must their families be going through right now. Up till this afternoon there was some hope of negotiation but I think that's all gone now. There must be the families of the hostages who must be watching the bombing tonight in despair that one of their loved ones may end up being killed. It is a terrible terrible situation

Wow, it’s lucky Israel has nuclear weapons to use against 2.5million civilians and 30,000 Hamas? Honestly, that’s sick. I suspect that regardless of what Israel do, you’ll support them.

The reality is that Israel has walked into a trap of its own making. Netanyahu has used Hamas as an excuse not to negotiate. His military have missed the build up to a mass terrorist attack and now under his watch he has let 1400 people die.

He’s in a position now where if he goes in he’s going to slaughter thousands of innocent people and if he doesn’t, he looks weak and his people will finish his career.

There will be no winners in this one. Israel will inflict damage on Hamas but not destroy them and for the next 10 years they’ll be holding up pictures of dead babies to recruit more people into the cause. In 5 years, the 30,000 strong Hamas will be twice the size it is now.

hamas can’t lose, if Israel attacks it will rally people to the cause, if they hold fast, Hamas will claim victory and people will flock to the cause.

Israel is hailed as the only democracy in the Middle East so you could use your vote to change things.
If you didn't vote for him then maybe have sympathy for those in Gaza who only had the opportunity to vote in 2005.
