hi,i have been wondering this for the last week especially when you see the pictures of complete blitzing of buildings and amenities.Im no expert but im guessing more buildings etc in the coming weeks will be destroyed just how will Gaza be rebuilt how can they afford it.

Gaza is very poor i think, could it be a way to get better facilities and have control over their own utilities etc rather than Israel deciding or will Israel move in and take it for their own people, what happens to the palestinian's ??

Like i said i dont have a great knowledge but every time i see the buildings bombed i wonder

By all accounts Israel is planning on incorporating it in to Israel. Apparently it’s a prime sea front location!

Palestinians can only have control or even greater control IF Israel lets them.

I always wonder this too. There have been so many disasters this year - such as Turkey, Morocco, and Ukraine, of course. I wonder what they do with all the rubble? Also, the dispersed communities where all those friends and neighbours lose touch is a tragedy too.

They won’t. Israel won’t stop until it is destroyed and then they’ll just move in and turn it into another city.

Horrific, genocidal but hey at least they can build a nice shopping centre.

NotSuchASmugMarried · 21/10/2023 21:11

I don't think it will be rebuilt either.

However, I don't think Israel will take it. They'll just leave it.

Ostryga · 21/10/2023 21:12

So these millions of people dying and suffering all so they can have a big pile of rocks. To do what with? Use it as a deterrent? Look what will happen to you if you go up against us?

Completely vile.

Huwipulotu · 21/10/2023 21:14

Israel will take it over. They are trying to squeeze the Palestinians who currently exist in Gaza into the Sinai.

then they keep building settlements in the West Bank and soon Palestinians are no more. They are not viewed as humans by the current Israeli government.

and the world watches and does fuck all. Because if we speak out we’re anti-Semitic.

I don’t think so, 2 million odd people live there, most will survive and Isreal doesn’t want to deal with them.

They’ll just set up a buffer zone and leave it.

I often wonder what Hamas thought would happen after they committed those atrocities. Do you think they knew Israel would retaliate as they have? And if so, why do what they did in the first place? It just doesn't make sense.

catskittens · 21/10/2023 21:23

i was amazed to learn that 50% of the population is children What an unsure future they have

It is kind of a never ending cycle. Did Israel think they could keep Gaza under their control and hold all the Palestinians captive without them ever rising up against their captors?

I absolutely hate how there is no recognition from the Israeli government and their supporters that children who have grown up in the conditions in Gaza are going to grow up as traumatised individuals with PTSD and they will be hell bent on revenge as the have NOTHING. Absolutely NOTHING.

when you have nothing to lose, when you lose all hope then you are going to make different decisions.

Toothyfruity · 21/10/2023 21:34

Israel has refused to allow Gaza to rebuild the last countless number of times they've bombed them. They won't allow building materials in.

Unfortunately I have to agree with the previous posters who've said that the plan is to level Gaza and anyone in it who's in the way in order to steal the land and plant yet more illegal settlers and make it part of Israel.

Outrageous war crimes happening before our very eyes and supported by UK, US and the EU.

at a guess large corporations

Judging my the handshaking of various leaders that have been meeting and speeches that have been made I think:

The PO will be in charge to start with and govern. As Palestinians have rioted and objected to any Taliban style laws that Hamas tried to bring in eg forced hijab and modest dress, the PO bea national party rather than a Islamic one will probably suit them better for now. Eventually elections need to be held. However rebuilding and establishing normality is the most serious thing at the moment.

The UN and aid agencies will build utility facilities as quick as possible. Plus make sure the food chain is robust. Saudi will help rebuild and develop greatly. Possibly eventually business opportunities via Saudi will build Gazans own economy. You never know they may even have a tourist industry of their own in the future like a lot of Arab countries

If Egypt still refuse to police things the UN may have too. Jordan or Saudi could get involved in that but I think like Egypt they probably won't.

Lebanon will still continue to fire rockets at Israel and will become worse than Gaza. The Arabs world will be even more fed up with them than they are now. Similar to there feelings about Hamas the violence in the middle east is not good for economy or tourism etc.

I have mentioned on a different thread that the children in Gaza will need trauma therapy centres build as part of any rebuild plans. It isn't something mist people can bounce back from. I have a friend that fled a war zone and came to the UK as a little girl. She is in her 30s and still has theory occasionally now.

EsmaCannonball · 21/10/2023 21:50

Maybe those Hamas leaders who are billionaires and millionaires could actually invest some of their suspiciously-gained wealth in Gazan infrastructure.

There are Gazans in Gaza providing trauma help right now to children.

That's not to diminish the trauma experienced, at all, but just to say it's not something that needs to be "started", because it's been going for years. Sadly.
