hi,i have been wondering this for the last week especially when you see the pictures of complete blitzing of buildings and amenities.Im no expert but im guessing more buildings etc in the coming weeks will be destroyed just how will Gaza be rebuilt how can they afford it.

Gaza is very poor i think, could it be a way to get better facilities and have control over their own utilities etc rather than Israel deciding or will Israel move in and take it for their own people, what happens to the palestinian's ??

Like i said i dont have a great knowledge but every time i see the buildings bombed i wonder

I think Gaza will be razed to the ground and rendered uninhabitable. Israel will find a use for it.

What a fucking disgusting thing to say. "Rubbing their hands in glee" after a devastating terrorist attacker. Wtf.

Israel have stated that they intend to have no further responsibility for Gaza. They won't be annexing it, they won't in future supply its electricity and other needs.

This has been in the news for a couple of days now so I'm not sure why people are speculating otherwise.

I absolutely hate how there is no recognition from the Israeli government and their supporters that children who have grown up in the conditions in Gaza are going to grow up as traumatised individuals with PTSD and they will be hell bent on revenge as the have NOTHING. Absolutely NOTHING.

when you have nothing to lose, when you lose all hope then you are going to make different decisions.

And this is Hamas in a nutshell

Hamas won’t be defeated until everyone living there is obliterated or escape. They will need to then take over the land because otherwise it’ll be a ground for new terrorists (because anyone who tries to rebuild it will obviously hate Israel).

TheWayTheLightFalls · 22/10/2023 07:56

I don’t think there’s much point @SomeCatFromJapan - this isn’t the sort of thread where reputable links and reasoned conversation will find a happy home.

Everyone else - I heard first hand from my rabbi’s sister that Israel plans to build a sacrificial altar on the Gaza strip, so that it’s got a good supply of children’s blood to drink for the next millennia. Happy now?

Syndulla · 22/10/2023 07:57

Far easier for Israel to level Gaza and displace a couple of million people than it is for them to tackle the actual Hamas leadership in Qatar I guess.

https://www.timesofisrael.com/far-from-gaza-hardships-hamas-chief-and-family-enjoy-easy-life-in-qatar/

I'd be surprised if Israel wanted the Gaza land. Suspect it will be too much of a clean up job to be of use to anyone. Besides, they seem to be doing well out of stealing Palestinian land in the West Bank so they probably don't need Gaza:

https://www.theguardian.com/world/2023/oct/21/the-most-successful-land-grab-strategy-since-1967-as-settlers-push-bedouins-off-west-bank-territory

Israel has a right to defend itself against terrorism. Hamas are evil and depraved. But I can't help feeling that Israel will use this latest atrocity as an excuse to achieve their goal of eradication of the the Palestinian state. The current government are a bunch of hard right nutters desperate to cling to power after the controversy over their judicial changes. As long as they are in power, there's no chance of Gaza being rebuilt.

Far from Gaza hardships, Hamas chief and family enjoy easy life in Qatar

Thanks to Doha's sponsorship and the wealth he accumulated as Hamas leader, Ismail Haniyeh and his children today live a life of wealth and privileges denied to other Gazans

Such a young population.

I’ve had my arse handed to me on a plate previously on here for wondering why people living in such conditions choose to have so many children.

Because they have nothing. They won’t have education, fancy careers, travel, all the nice things we have. All they have is family and why should Israel take that from them too?

Most of us aren’t that ridiculous.

Efacsen · 22/10/2023 09:12

There were satellite photos online yesterday of an area in northern Gaza that had previously been a heavily populated 'suburb' - there was absolutely nothing left standing just acres and acres of rubble

Looked ripe for siting a tent city for internally displaced people

And presumably that will be the fate of large parts of Gaza - acres and acres of refugee tent cities administered by the UN most likely to remain for decades

As a government I don't think they'll care much in terms of the greater 'good'. The cost/benefit will be worth it.

@SomeCatFromJapan if there is no further responsibility or connection to Gaza is this also an aim for Gaza? To sever all ties

Ive mentioned this on threads, environments like this breed terrorists and people that want to fight.

I dont know why it seems difficult for people to understand both that Israel created this environment but also that the Palestinians if not openly support Hamas, believe in Hamas's aims as well, its what they will have been brought up with. Even if only 50% of the population believe in the offensive and the methods Hamas employ, thats enough to prevent Hamas being removed.

Seems rather ironic to me that Hamas will achieve what it seems to expressly be fighting against, the complete loss of Gaza to Israel. All caused by its own hand, because I agree with you, the Israeli political objective cant be anything other than what you've described given what happened.

Really?

It can't be anything but the complete annihilation of Gaza, its buildings and people? Because that's what is happening.

You're justifying war crimes and genocide.

SomeCatFromJapan · 22/10/2023 14:51

Would it be unrealistic to hope that once there is a ceasefire, the territory is put under some sort of neutral control, possibly shared, not including Israel, and that a lot of aid is then put in to rebuild infrastructure? With a longer-term goal of democratic elections, properly monitored?

Here we go again, apparently now Im 'justifying war crimes and genocide'

Im simply setting out that Israel wont tolerate the ground being left in Palestinian hands as a political objective, thats what Israel will do, it doesnt matter if you agree or disagree with it, thats what will happen for the exact reasons the poster set out.

Its not justifying anything to make that political observation of what the trajectory will be or how Israel will see that.

But please carry on putting words into others mouths.
