This is running on Al Jazeera and others - apparently Israel refused to take back two hostages.

@Efacsen I am watching the channel 4 news. It's so hard to think Hamas don't have all of them. Crime families, other groups, fundamentalists... hostages must be terrified.

That Don't even know who is there. They need to let the Red Cross in and they need to be accounted for.

Looks like your wish is coming true 😊
That must have been a very sincere prayer

EasterIssland · 21/11/2023 20:00

Hopefully it’ll happen soon

StarbucksSmarterSister · 21/11/2023 21:09

I just read that Hamas are saying they don't know where 10 of the children are.

Plus PIJ apparently announced one hostage death.

This hostage exchange deal is dragging on for too long and taking away more innocents lives than what it should.

has there been those 3-4h block pauses that they were talking about last week?

Stomacharmeleon · 21/11/2023 21:41

@StarbucksSmarterSister I don't know what to say... regarding the children. I think more deaths will come out over the next couple of days and that's why it's imperative the Red Cross are allowed in. I do not believe it's just Hamas with hostages and it shows how entrenched terrorism is and why it needs to be eradicated.

The other group has got hostages as well.

just curious how do you eradicate them tho. I’ve little faith on that and believe there will be new Hamas once there is a ceasefire even if you have killed or Hamas members from nowadays. I think there has to be a proper independent organisation taking care of the area and that will punish whoever attacks the opponent and takes hostages / prisoners without any proven reason

StarbucksSmarterSister · 21/11/2023 21:51

BTW Hanna Katzir, who is said to have died "due to medical complications ", was the lady in one of the hostage videos released 2 weeks ago.

Stomacharmeleon · 21/11/2023 21:54

@EasterIssland I don't disagree with that.

Yes, the former. There's videos of it on Twitter - I would have posted it but kind of feels a bit wrong to now given the outcome.

etmoiandme · 21/11/2023 22:10

Gosh and I posted it! I genuinely didn't mean to, sorry.

Stomacharmeleon · 21/11/2023 22:11

I think her son is missing presumed kidnapped too. Elad.
Forever hopeful.
Does it matter which one she is? Or are you trying to make a point? Hostages gonna hostage.

Parkingt111 · 21/11/2023 22:17

@StarbucksSmarterSister That's terrible about the children. Has that been confirmed?

OhHelloTheres · 21/11/2023 22:18

I just watched that hostage video for the first time. It's so sad. It's so obviously rehearsed 😔 Why anyone would take their words at face value is astonishing.

etmoiandme · 21/11/2023 22:21

@OhHelloTheres Yup. People hear what they want to hear though.

No. Just wanted to know who she was. I’ve not watched videos but read about them. I thought the lady from the one with the child was ill hence wanted to know whether she was this person(I might be wrong about this) . Nothing else. Apologies if it sounded anything different.

Stomacharmeleon · 21/11/2023 22:37

It just seems insurmountably cruel to keep someone captive and watch them slowly die. An elderly lady.

I haven't seen an official source but it was posted by somebody who I think normally gets it right.

EasterIssland · 22/11/2023 07:00

From bbc
Israel has just released of a list of 300 Palestinians that could be released under the deal struck between Israel and Hamas.
The list, posted on Israel's justice ministry website, includes the names, ages and offences of those eligible.
As a reminder, only 150 detainees are expected to be released at first. We'll have more details soon.

Thailand has been holding separate talks with Hamas about the release of its nationals. Last week, Bangkok's negotiators said they received assurances that Thai hostages were "safe".

Efacsen · 22/11/2023 07:33

Does anyone know who has drawn up this list? Did Israel and Hamas compile it together as part of the negotiations?

Or are the names solely Israels? Or Hamas suggestions?

BBC have done an analysis - the vast majority are male 274 only 26 women

And the males are largely 17-18 yrs old - with a range of 14-59

The reasons for incarceration vary markedly ''They include attempted murder, throwing a bomb, creating an explosive or incendiary object, throwing stones, contact with a hostile organisation, grievous bodily harm and arson on nationalist grounds.''

Expected there to be a lot of teenage boys but so few women??

From what I've read, the women are held for more serious crimes than the teenagers, mostly attempted stabbings. So presumably more difficult for Israel to justify their release than those who have been throwing rocks at Israelis and soldiers.

That's interesting thank you

Different figures from HRW and Al Jazeera so maybe it will become clearer down the line

Parkingt111 · 22/11/2023 08:08

Has the list of the names of the 50 hostages been released? Is there a list?

Parkingt111 · 22/11/2023 08:10

The list is interesting. I expected there to be lots of teenage boys too but I'm surprised by the imbalance and that there aren't more younger teenagers.

It's odd how many of them are 18 - surely they aren't legally classed as children? I wonder if it's because they were underage when the crimes were committed. (I know 18-year-olds are still immature in many ways! But there has to be a cut-off and I couldn't see any 19-year-old males listed.)
