The 'rules'

Maintain a relaxed attitude at all times - drink if you want too, especially on your birthday. Thread precedent dictates if you drink to excess you will get a BFP (but not recommended)

Covet thy husband and enjoy every minute. Shag at ever opportunity - shag-capes and awesome superpowers optional.

Resist the lure of ovulation predictor kits, Taking Control of Your Fertility and the dreaded First Repsonse. Knowing where you are in your cycle is entirely permissible though!

Going to the doctor is permitted if you've had a stupidly long cycle but beware of the dildo-cam-scan.

Keep acronmyage to a minimum! EWCM is now to be referred to as 'pant snot'.

Keep us up to date with gossip!

Shagging is clearly the best pelvic floor exercise there is.

Vallinna I am forbidding you from going!

Congrats sfb

prettyvacant looking forward to your answers to takethat's quiz

takethat - geographical dislocation = bad for JS efforts, but top marks for trying anyway. Maybe there will be one sticky sperm that managed?

vallinnapod · 14/07/2010 12:39

Thanks JKS. From my completely non-medical, a-level science, Google-inspired research (phew!) I believe Metformin is often used to treat PCOS (polycystic Ovary syndrome) as it sorts out insulin issues which can occur. I don't have PCOS but PCO (polycystic ovaries) which is where my only symptom/s is/are the spotty ovaries and lack of periods. Therfore I think this is why Clomid is the course of action

awh TakeThat and Vida! Don't worry I'd like to think I am here to stay until a huge BFP arrives! I just found out the waiting time is due to the consultant being on holiday! How very dare she

Had some very small cramping end of last week, beginning of this (after last dildocam) so mmmmmmmmaaaaayyyyyybbbbeeeeee the lazy buggers are waking up?? Would be nice as I have my eye on a nice little dress if we 'save' on any treatment

JustKeepSwimming · 14/07/2010 12:54

Ah Vallinna, i didn't have PCOS either, just PCO (but most people tend not to understand the difference so i just say pcos), i wasn't overweight, hairy, etc.
Just had non-stop periods/bleeding with no OV, was very draining, iron levels through the floor.
I was unaware of having any insulin issues, no diabetes, etc. but the research i did (again just google stuff) suggested that the main difference was you could keep taking Metformin for longer if pg didn't happen asap.
Either way, good luck!

Think AF is on the way out, starting to get excited about ttcing JSing

Miffles · 14/07/2010 18:44

Popping back in to say howdee! [waves]

vallinna - glad to hear that you have a diagnosis but also an appointment. That's great. I hadn't really considered going privately, but the waiting is flipping loooong!! Can I ask how much it is costing? I've got my PCOS diagnosis. DH had to do a SA, which came back low, so they are saying it has to be repeated in 4 weeks before even referring - and then there's the 18 week wait. So...maybe we'll start saving!

I reckon I'll be given clomid too. Which area are you in?

CoraBear · 14/07/2010 21:14

Hi ladies, can I join? We decided to ttc after my 30th birthday, I was determined I was going to get hammered on my birthday and throughly enjoy myself. I did, so now we're down to business. Pant snot has not been an issue for me, my vag has not sneezed for as long as I can remember.

I may have two symptoms, let me know what you think:
1- In the evening I have to open the button in my jeans despite having lost weight.
2- The dog farted this morning and I threw up!!!!
That should probably been the first one but I knew you wouldn't read the second one.

I'm a total newbie with all of this stuff so advise please.

vallinnapod · 15/07/2010 10:48

Cora - PMSL at the thought of a sneezing vag! Welcome!

miffles - helpfully she didn't have her price list on her but we are talking hundreds rather than thousands. Clomid is really cheap (about a fiver for a course) but you need several scans and bloods which is where the pounds start to pile up! I am going to the Centre for Genetics and Reproductive Health in Kings X/Holborn, London. I am north London and this is actually where I would have been referred to had I chosed the NHS route. She also seems happy with giving clomid a whirl before DH gets intimate with a plastic cup and I have my bits tie-dyed! I guess you can look at it two ways...the clomid will be a complete waste of money if it turns out DH's swimmers are drowning not waving or I have fallopian tubes resembling a curly wurly but on the other hand if it works on cycle 1 or 2 then we have saved money on those tests...ho hum.

Just gonna JS with super intent and hope for a BFP before 3rd August!

JustKeepSwimming · 15/07/2010 11:39

Cora - any other symptoms?

Well JSing is under way - not at this exact moment obv [bush]

Only CD8 or something but best to get the practice in i feel.

ViveLaFrak · 15/07/2010 12:20

Vallinna sweetie you crack me up!

vallinnapod · 15/07/2010 15:14

I am a total rule breaker as far as this thread goes...just booked a reflexology session for tomorrow...

Off to flog myself with used PG tests as a punishment
Vallinna-REBEL-pod

PS this is so that when something FINALLY happens I won't have a clue what mumbojumbo/chemically enhanced process actually worked!

PrettyVacant1 · 15/07/2010 17:41

Ta La for the welcome.

Here is my initiation quiz as requested

  1. What is your favourite activity beginning with S? (hint: it rhymes with blagging)

Erm, lemme think.....
Gagging? Bragging! Hagging? Nagging
Dragging my lagging,sagging bag?
Whilst fagging and tagging??
No?
Leave that one with me...

  1. Do you have any stories associated with the, ahem, blagging with which to embarrass yourself? And are you willing to embarrass yourself repeatedly in the cause?

Not just yet, I need to see evidence of other "incidents" before I reveal anything.

  1. Do you have a dirty turn of phrase with which you can turn otherwise horrible/obsessive procedures into something fun (a la pant snot, shag-cape, dildo-cam, etc...)?

Gimmee time, I'll get thinking...
When I get updiffed I will have to be on lots of drucks like 'roids and stuff and have fortnightly snatch snaps with Dildo-cam.

I have already had many a Dildo-cam up my foof though, does that count?
I'm yet to pur-chase my shag cape (not seen one I like)

Pant snot has been lacking this month

  1. What is your favourite activity beginning with S? (really, this is the only one that counts so I'm giving you a second chance

Easypeasy. Sleeping
Although a good shag first is a must.

Did I pass?
I still have Cider

cowboylover · 15/07/2010 19:16

Hey all!!

Nice to catch up with all the posts from the last few weeks when I was off line.

After my coil removal I had my first period and I have got to say it was horrible; I cant belive some women have to feel that bad every month for years so going to take a while to get used to it again but fingers crossed it wont take me long so get that BFP of my own.

Congratulations to all those now expected so keep in touch x

takethatlady · 15/07/2010 22:31

Prettyvacant PMSL. You're in!

PrettyVacant1 · 15/07/2010 22:45

Phew!

TTLaydee have you heard the news?
Assuming you likey TT and your moniker isn't what your DH shouts during norty bidness.

NoMoreChocBiscuits · 16/07/2010 08:34

PMSL at thought that TTL's DH yelling that out.

I shouldn't be on here right after breakfast. My brain is never awake enough to take things seriously.

takethatlady · 16/07/2010 12:39

Ha ha prettyvacant. Once someone on here asked me if I was angry when I chose the name! And yes I have heard the news. Unfortunately I have been in love with Mark Owen since I was 11 and he turns out to be a love rat. DH stuck a plaster over his face on my TT mug when that news broke. But I might be peeling it off now ...

Wooohoooooooo!!! Maybe at the next concert I'll be ready to pump out more than just Relight my Fire!

CoraBear · 16/07/2010 19:27

JKS, I threw up this afternoon, I seem to feel crappier as the day progresses. Really tired too. Don't have sore boobs though which is supposed to be the holy grail of symptoms. I thought I had food poisoning but I don't think it is.

I think I might toddle off to Tesco to get a First Response tomorrow. Period not due for about 10 days but I can't bear feeling sick. If not preggy, definately gonna head to the doc's. I can't cope with random acts of vomiting.

JustKeepSwimming · 16/07/2010 19:45

Cora - 'random acts of vomiting' certainly sounds good, iykwim?
Good luck with testing.

I'm so pleased i bought a hundred 20 cheapie tests to play with when the time comes.

Meantime i'm wishing away the next week or so to get to OV....but JSing is fun

CoraBear · 16/07/2010 21:21

The puking isn't good, I had to leave work early and drive home with a plastic bag on my lap. Not fun. I have never been so frightened of going around a roundabout in my life for fear of a puke-spilled- on-crotch incident.

cowboylover · 16/07/2010 21:45

Oh Corabear! I hope you feel better soon and let us know how you get on x

NoMoreChocBiscuits · 16/07/2010 21:49

I'm living vicariously through other peoples POAS at the moment. What has my life come to?

Cora you poor thing! hope you're feeling better soon and that it's the right sickness ((ie preggerssick not sicksick)

BrassicaBabe · 16/07/2010 21:52

Hiya Lovelies

I've been gone a while, I hope not forgotten. (Work hellish busy)

Hello newbies Although some of you are old hands in the time I've been AWOL.

DH is busy too so not to many shag stories either. Although CD10 for me, so we might make a bit more of an effort. Me? Peeing on Ov-sticks?! No. Not me guv

takethatlady · 16/07/2010 22:32

Hey brassica, missed you! How's the shagging?

CD10 for you! It's CD16 for me - I'm nearly a whole cycle behind you since the test-fest we shared (sob sob!)

Think I OV'd Tuesday. DH in China. Going to South Africa on my tod on 11th August til 29th. We're never gonna get proper shag time at this rate!

Thinking the £700 for his flight, despite £4k of credit card debt, might be worth it just for the shag-time. What do you think?

takethatlady · 16/07/2010 22:34

PS Corabear you poor thing! I hope it's baby-vomit and not just general vomit! Otherwise we're gonna be calling you vomit-crotch from now on!

CoraBear · 16/07/2010 23:45

Hee hee hee, vomit crotch. Not quite the cool nickname I've always hankered after.

Takethatlady-for £700 it'd want to be the best shag ever!
Having said that, years ago I paid £40 taxi fare on a cross town drunken booty call to see my DP, forgetting he was at a stag weekend in Frankfurt. £80 round trip, no nookie. Sad times.

BrassicaBabe · 17/07/2010 10:57

"Having said that, years ago I paid £40 taxi fare on a cross town drunken booty call to see my DP, forgetting he was at a stag weekend in Frankfurt. £80 round trip, no nookie. Sad times."

Sounds like a credit card advert gone wrong. Priceless
