The 'rules'

Maintain a relaxed attitude at all times - drink if you want too, especially on your birthday. Thread precedent dictates if you drink to excess you will get a BFP (but not recommended)

Covet thy husband and enjoy every minute. Shag at ever opportunity - shag-capes and awesome superpowers optional.

Resist the lure of ovulation predictor kits, Taking Control of Your Fertility and the dreaded First Repsonse. Knowing where you are in your cycle is entirely permissible though!

Going to the doctor is permitted if you've had a stupidly long cycle but beware of the dildo-cam-scan.

Keep acronmyage to a minimum! EWCM is now to be referred to as 'pant snot'.

Keep us up to date with gossip!

30 Imagine trying to clean that shag cape! I'd be to scared to wear it got 'dirty'!

I was rather pleased to realise my 3inch heels make my legs look rather slim, the other day. They are now essential seducing kit Grin

milanomum · 25/08/2010 20:21

WOW 30 those are most definitely FMBs if i ever saw them (for a high-class lay-dee like myself of course - ONLY (splutters) ?800...!! (Does quick calculations involving selling a kidney etc)

I'd actually quite like them if they had a slightly smaller heel and weren't quite so thigh length. I can't see myself singing and dancing with kids in those at work though. Maybe keep them for parents' day.

nomorechoc i agree - a shag cape really needs to get dirty, doesn't it ;)

takethatlady · 26/08/2010 00:37

I am LOVING the thigh-high killer heels. If only they were £50 I'd be buying them. £1200 originally?!! But then again, I reckon they'd go very well with knickers and otherwise naked ttcers ... [ponders desperate credit card debt and wishes it were worth it]

Loving the shag-cape too. Wondering if it should just be considered a disposable. The little pom-pom shoes are a bit like those 1950s-style slippers you'd get in a dressing-up box. The boots and the shag cape, however ... now that's a combination.

SnowpeaWithEnthusiasm · 26/08/2010 07:34

Hello ladies, can I join? (Please say yes, I?ve had so much fun reading through 34 pages of banter!)
I?m an Aussie, living in Australia, but I found mumsnet when I was pregnant with DS, and even though I have no clue about Boots or the NHS, I think this is such a great site, especially because of chats like this one!
DP and I have finally just casually decided to do away with the pill and hop on the ttc bandwagon. This will be his first child, although he?s doing a cracking job with DS (from ex-H) who is 3! He?s very nervous, I?m worried at any moment I?ll scare the horse and he?ll dash in the other direction again.
Anyway, I?d like to take it all as fun, and JS to my heart?s content! Does this qualify me?

BrassicaBabe · 26/08/2010 08:34

Just a quick "Hi" as I'm passing though. Been stuck in busy offices all week. Not much time to read posts. Will catch up properly tomorrow when I'm working from home. It's CD24 in the BB house!

Prepare the thread kipper (maybe it can be frozen for extra effect?!) I'm feeling the need to PIAR!!

Welcome snowpea Smile

NoMoreChocBiscuits · 26/08/2010 09:15

Hello SnowPea. Boots is a chain of pharmacies (but are often huge) and the NHS is the National Health Service (often rubbish, but hey free Dr visits compared to $40+ a pop isn't to be sneezed at). Sounds like you'll fit right in here Smile.

Am officially on the 2WW in the Biscuit House. I want to remain cool and casual about it, esp aftr last month, but I KNOW I'll be bouncing off the walls by tonight the weekend. Viriods, prepare that kipper and hold me down!!!

Gave a good day all.

JosieSmith1 · 26/08/2010 10:16

Good luck NoMoreChoc

Welcome SnowPea [wave emoticon]

Brassica, step away from the ramekin! Grin. I'm one to talk though considering how nuts dignified I was last month! You've got a while yet before it's my turn again (luckily for you lot).

I am back to JSing stage. DH said he didn't like to JS when it was planned so I responded with 'I don't like doing the dishes but the house won't be tidy if I don't' and told him if we don't JS we won't make a baby! Honestly, sometimes I really do have to spell it out for him Grin

I'm off work this afternoon looking after poorly doggy so probably won't get back on today, will catch up tomorrow

baby2b · 26/08/2010 11:05

Hi SnowPea :) You definately qualify (an addiction to peeing on sticks and googling expensive shag capes is optional).

I'm going away for a couple of days to have lots of much missed swi jsing, could do with that shag cape 30andmerkin!

Good luck nomorechoc and Brassica - stay strong and avoid the evil early response sticks! Though I am happily piar again for opk tests.

Hope everyone has a good weekend Grin Wink

vallinnapod · 26/08/2010 11:50

Hey viroids,

Welcome Snowpea - I am desperately trying to get back to Oz - lots of friends have returned so holidayed there this year to catch up and fell completely in love with Sydney, def my spiritual home - beach and city, what more could I ask for!

Love, love, LOVE the fashion picks!

josie - DH and I had similar row rational discussion about shagging on demand. I could at least further guilt him rationalise it with "We're spending stupid money on this process now!"

Went to the GP yesterday as it had been, ohhhhh five days since my last medical appointment and I was starting to get withdrawal symptoms. Sat there prepared to talk him into prescribing me Metformin for fertility issues the PCOS. He'd just been on a course relating to it so was quite happy too! Yay for not having to pay through the nose for a private prescritption! Baby steps, if you'll pardon the pun.

Went and collected a copy of my notes from the current fertility clinic yesterday. Resisted the urge to stand in the waiting room and tell them all to f* themselves (the staff not the other ladies!)! Off to new fertility clinic next Tuesday with a positive attitude! GAH!

Hope you all have horizontal (or vertical Wink) planes for the w/e!

milanomum · 26/08/2010 14:16

Hurrah vallinna good news, positive steps!

welcome snowpea :)

Waves kipper threateningly at brassica and nomorechoc

BrassicaBabe · 26/08/2010 20:07

Love those boots 30, I'm not sure I could pull off that particular shag cape though. Grin To be honest at 37, I don't think I can pull those boots off either! Wink

Loving the idea of you telling them off to feck off in the clinic vallinna! I can just see you flinging an extra "2 fingers up" as you flounch out "from my JSing friends"!!

I am feeling particularly daft this month. I'm already in the pit of doom about not being pg this month when I'm only on CD24 and I'm not due on until Tuesday coming. Stoopid, stoopid, stoopid. And I swore I'd never be one of those women who cried when AF arrived! Idiot! Already sulking cos I think I ought to lay off the wine, but don't think I'm pg so it doesn't bloody matter. Oh, and I'm not on a work pc sooooo.....fuck, fuck, fuckity, fucking fuck!!!

kat2504 · 26/08/2010 20:54

brassica a ramekin, what a brilliant idea! Much easier than my attempts with tupperware!

2ww for me now i think. When I was pg (mc recently) I developed a poas addiction so will have to be very self disciplined.
Did lots of JS at beginning of week but sod's law suggests I have missed the best day. Oh well, bf has to be allowed to go to work after all!

All the extra JS is rather nice but feeling the strain of pretending to have turning into an insatiable addict. Really would rather not update the bf of every detail of my cycle though - trying to preserve a bit of dignity.

Hope everyone has good bank hol. It's our anniversary so lots of Just-For-Fun on the menu!

NervousNelly · 26/08/2010 23:15

takethat your earlier post nearly had me spitting out my tea at work earlier. I was reading this on my phone, and your pom-pom shoes looked like it said porn-porn in the tiny text!

Just as well I had a laugh, as my ERTD has turned up pretty much; not just annoying as clearly it means not pg, but also it's a couple of days earlier than I expected, which probably means I'm going to have a period when on holiday next month. Grrrr

Oh and just for laughs I decided to rear-end another car on the motorway this morning. Didn't happen six months ago when I had a crappy 10 year old car; oh no, first accident in 17 years just after I've bought my first shiny lovely one :(

Hmmm, I wonder if anyone else will notice I have PMT - it's quite subtle Wink

Hope everyone else has had a better day than me!

NervousNelly · 26/08/2010 23:17

Oh and sorry for being rude, hello to snowpea and kat . I'm normally less angry than this Blush

takethatlady · 27/08/2010 00:05

That's what it did say nervousnelly. Haven't you heard of 1950s porn-porn slippers? They were all the rage in Happy Days (hence the name ...)

Sorry to hear about your car. If it's any consolation we got a new car last year (and sold our old one for £20 Grin - which was a rip-off, really, for the person who bought it) and since then we've had it scratched and broken by the people we paid to look after it at the airport, vandalised so it needed a new roof and bonnet, chipped the windscreen twice, and put unleaded in it (it is diesel). And we haven't even JSed in it! [Goes off to put that right].

Went to my new job today to take my books and stuff to my office. DH helped me, tried to jump him, but he was too much of a scaredy-cat to go for it. I'll get him later ...

SnowpeaWithEnthusiasm · 27/08/2010 07:45

Thanks for the welcome girls, I?m not sure if I?m more excited about this thread or the ttc. Admittedly, I?m a little peeved at DP right now. Two weeks ago, during my natural pill break, he wasn?t ready to attempt the kids thing yet. Just this weekend he?s thrown his hat in the ring, so it?s out with the pills, but means I?m in 2nd AF in two weeks. Grrr. Still, I know he?ll make up for it with lots of JSing? I hope :)

Baby2b ? I?m going into this with the best of intentions, I really really really do not want to become addicted to PIAR. I say this on CD3, I?m pretty sure I won?t have the will power. Not too mention that I already have a take-away plastic gelato bowl stashed away for such purposes. I?ll be calling for my own kippers by CD20 probably!

Then again, in honour of Vallinna?s love of my home town, BB and NoMoreChoc get a very authentic frozen barramundi instead of a kipper! Just let me know when you need it viroids!

takethatlady I think you?ve just explained DPs current obsession with convincing me to buy a new car? hmm, I think that could win prizes for highest single cost in pursuit of JSing.

BrassicaBabe · 27/08/2010 08:58

BFN today on CD25. You can hit with with a frozen great white snowpea

takethatlady · 27/08/2010 10:04

Sorry about your BFN brassica. It ain't over til it's over, though. I would hit you with a great white, if I had one, and if I didn't know you'd just hit me back (I deserve it!)

And congrats on sorting out your wayward docs vallinna. Let's hope the new ones have a proper supply of baby dust, this time.

JSing like a good 'un over here, though it's only CD10 (I suppose) and I haven't ovulated the last 2 months until well into the CD30s :(

Let's hope the agnus castus is doing something to me!

JosieSmith1 · 27/08/2010 10:20

Aw Brassica, sorry to hear you?re a bit down at the moment. I manage the 2ww ok until the last few days, then I turn into an obsessive wreck! Sorry you got BFN but as you told me last month, it?s way too early, there?s hope for you yet.

Nervous that?s poo! Sorry for ERTD too Sad. Next month will be our month! Grin. I get unbelievably angry when I?ve got PMT! Can always tell but at that point in time I don?t really care if anyone notices Grin.

Takethat good try at jumping DH Grin. Better luck next time.

Snowpea DH definitely owes you for that! Grin

Well I had yesterday afternoon off and it was great. Doggy was none the worse for wear after her ordeal yesterday so I left her sleeping and went for a ride instead! She?s a little bruised this morning but happy as larry!

Off to pick up some baby stuff from SiL early next week, she?s got a cot and bouncer, so I better get pg soon or it?ll go to waste in the loft!

JessieOg · 27/08/2010 11:50

Ooh - can I join in? Am a complete virgin when it comes to both message boards and the whole trying for a baby thing so you'll have to bear with me (although rest assured am not at all virginal when it comes to practising for trying for a baby...) Just come off the pill 3 weeks ago. Scared bloody stiff about the prospect of becoming a parent. Struggling with the concept of not being able to drink alcohol for god knows how long as apparently I'm not supposed to drink even when trying to get pregnant (that was a hideous shock) and could do with some sharing with likeminded individuals!!

vallinnapod · 27/08/2010 12:22

Happy weekend-to-be all! And a 3-dayer at that. If that doesn't cheer you up then...errrr...drink?!

I like the influx of newbies (hiya Jessica) although you all remind me of the sane, carefree person I used to be. It won't take long until we pull you down to our obsessive ways [evil, cackly emoticon]

Jessica I think you'll find that us ladies are all flagrant alcoholics relaxed in our attitude towards drinking while TTC. Believe me, if I had given up when we started I wouldn't have had a drink for 6 months Shock. I need wine just to contemplate that thought Wink Everybody seems to have a different opinion on this. I am of the school that as long as it doesn't bother you (and you don't carry on with a pint of vodka a day when actually confirmed PG) then it's fine!

My computer at home is now as unproductive as my ovaries so may be iPhone-ing MN over the weekend!

BrassicaBabe · 27/08/2010 12:51

Welcome Jessie and kat

Isn't it just evil that utter misery of imminent AF ends up being coupled with misery of PMT?! Sad I recognise this pit of gloom as being PMT for me. Add that to the realisation of BFN means I'm as far down the pit as a Chilean miner! Wink

NoMoreChocBiscuits · 27/08/2010 13:02

Ah but Brassica you don't have to wait til Christmas for your next SWI JSing session, and you can go down to the pub tonight and get rotten drunk enjoy a glass of wine.

Hello too to Jessie and Kat, hope you have your supply of pee sticks and ramekins kippers at the ready!

I can't believe it's already Friday again! Nothing to drink other than ribena, in the house and not even a shag to look forward too. (Why did I promise DH a couple of days off now that the SWI is over for another month?) Roll on Monday!

BrassicaBabe · 27/08/2010 13:06

Grin nomore you are quite right. Def on for "rotten drunk" tonight. Smile

NoMoreChocBiscuits · 27/08/2010 13:07

PS. slapping self with kipper, barramundi and a tarakihi (while we're bringing in forgein fish from home). Will keep the great white for this time next week though.
