The 'rules'

Maintain a relaxed attitude at all times - drink if you want too, especially on your birthday. Thread precedent dictates if you drink to excess you will get a BFP (but not recommended)

Covet thy husband and enjoy every minute. Shag at ever opportunity - shag-capes and awesome superpowers optional.

Resist the lure of ovulation predictor kits, Taking Control of Your Fertility and the dreaded First Repsonse. Knowing where you are in your cycle is entirely permissible though!

Going to the doctor is permitted if you've had a stupidly long cycle but beware of the dildo-cam-scan.

Keep acronmyage to a minimum! EWCM is now to be referred to as 'pant snot'.

Keep us up to date with gossip!

Thanks NMCB :)

Enjoy your wine - am allowing myself a small glass of white tonight:)

takethatlady · 13/08/2010 08:55

brassica pimms and champagne sounds absolutely delicious! I might try me some!

11/12 dpo I think (God really knows but I'm reckoning on Monday for AF). No symptoms or anything, but PIAR. A faint blue line so faint it's imaginary. I really mean imaginary. I have to squint to see it. Took the test apart and on the reverse the blue line is visibly there - but that doesn't mean anything, I'm sure.

Definitely not getting excited. The first cycle ttc I had a vanishing positive (I think, actually, I just looked at the test too soon Grin). Second cycle ttc I used an internet cheapie, fiddled with the test at the wrong time, causing residual dye to travel up the stick and 'stick' around the positive line. Told people I was pg. I wasn't - I was just, in vallinna's words, a twat Blush. So I am certain that this is nothing but wishful thinking. Honestly, I'm not even sure I can see the line.

Why do ramekins have this effect on me? Maybe I should turn to bottles, so I can carry the pee around with me, take it to work, and dip a load of other brands in the same pee. Might be embarrassing if my bag falls open.

I don't even know why I'm telling you girls this, as I'm going to be Blush on Monday when AF comes ...

takethatlady · 13/08/2010 08:56

Oh yeah - I remember why I'm telling you this. I'm going out tonight, and I would be tempted to drink unless I told somebody there was the weeniest bit of a chance. Now i've told you I can abstain!

takethatlady · 13/08/2010 09:16

I have put the test back together and the blue line is definitely visible now. DH is ill in bed but I have woken him up twice and he thinks it is there. But as a serial test-tamperer I am not trusting it. It might not have been there if I hadn't taken the test apart.

Why oh why did I throw away my pee? If DH was testing he wouldn't have thrown it away - he's a bit of a hoarder Grin

I am not pregnant I am not pregnant I am not pregnant I am not pregnant I am not pregnant ....

I actually am not pregnant, but now I'm excited (like the other two bloody times).

My education was wasted on me.

takethatlady · 13/08/2010 09:23

Right - just read up on taking tests apart on peeonastick.com (they need a name change - they're so behind the times with that one). It can cause dye to dry where it shouldn't, making evap lines look like positives. So I expect this is what I have done.

Going to buy a first response, and going to hold in my pee until I'm bursting ...

JosieSmith1 · 13/08/2010 09:38

Good luck takethatlady, hope it's not an evap line (I didn't even know they existed till I joined here!)

I am in a foul mood today - work was terrible yesterday (I work in admin and in a team meeting they said admin don't do enough! the cheek of it!) and then last night horsey went lame so I had a bit of a cry in the shower and added 'didn't get pg first try' to my list of woes.

The terrible weather today reflects my mood I think!

BrassicaBabe · 13/08/2010 09:41

PMLS @ takethat Poor you; you are having a mental moment. Really laughing at you taking the test apart. Laughing more that someone has thought to address the issue people taking tests apart on POAS.com Grin

Embrace the madness and fingers crossed for you!

vallinnapod · 13/08/2010 09:58

Takethat - lady do you ever learn. Pee, dip, wait, fret, read result. The only thing gained from dismantling the test is madness (and lots of giggles from me!) Grin

I want you to promise us all, upon the holy cocktail making bible, that the POAS stick will look like it did when it left the packet by the time you have finished with it, bar a splash of your bladder's finest!

Seriously though, I hope you don't mind that your morning has bought a smile to my face Smile I do think it is only because we all have our little insanities we can relate so well!

josie sorry for the shitty day. Hope the pony is OK. I used to have one of my own - I think a baby will be a breeze compared to the mad equine I had!

Not much going on with me. 'CD13', temps still the same. No pant snot whatsoever, to the point where JSing on Wednesday wasn't actually much fun (sorry TMI! Dryness is a Clomid side effect, the only one I have had!) Got some Preseed so will have to discreetly shove some of that up before the w/e antics! and who said babymaking wasn't fun?!

BrassicaBabe · 13/08/2010 10:05

I'm not sure evap lines exisit Josie. When I've PIAR before there has been absoluetly no line, nadda. So I think any kind of line at all is a BFP. Sorry you had a grotty day. Hope horsey is on the mend.

What other side effects to the clomid are there vallinna? My consulatant mentioned upset tummy and the risk of twins - that was it.

CD11 for me. Some serious JSing over the weekend for me hopefully Grin

JosieSmith1 · 13/08/2010 10:30

Oh, well I've only ever had the BFN line so any other line I will be looking for with a magnifying glass if necessary! Grin

I know the time is coming to retire horsey but I didn't think it'd be anywhere near the horizon yet! But on the plus side, I want to start a family and she's very low maintenance i.e. doesn't need riding every night so she makes it possible for me to have a horse and a family.

Enough self pitying from me, feeling a tad better now, partly because my mysteriously blocked nose that has kept me up every night this week has cleared for all of 5 mins!

takethatlady · 13/08/2010 10:33

He he you ladies always bring me back to reality. DH is STILL lounging about in bed so I'm going a leetle beet craaaazzzyy on my tod in the living room, alone with the test. Supposed to be writing about John Ruskin (paedo, art critic, geologist, writer ...). Do not care about John Ruskin.

Thinking of writing a Beckett-esque play about a woman, trapped all alone with an inconclusive pregnancy test, who very quickly slowly goes out of her mind ...

After googling it seems the Clear Blue + - are notorious for giving shitty results, too.

So I am not pregnant, and I am going to wait until tomorrow morning to do a different brand.

vallinna and brassica clomid sounds mental! PMSL at the casual use of 'upset tummy and the risk of twins'. Upset tummy is one thing ... !

Sorry about your crappy day Josie. But don't worry you didn't succeed at the first time of asking. You've got plenty more chances left in you yet!

takethatlady · 13/08/2010 10:36

PS - I, takethatlady, swear on the holycocktailmakingbible, to take the test, the whole test, and nothing but the test, so help me God.

BrassicaBabe · 13/08/2010 10:50

What a bonkers morning on this thread.

It's peeing down with rain here.

That John Ruskin sounds like an interesting dinner guest Hmm

The consultant said something like there were 5 side effects. He counted them off on his fingers. It went something like (and they were mild so I can't really remember them):

  1. Headache
  2. Nausea
  3. Upset tummy
4 & 5. Twins

Everyone is a bloody comic!

JosieSmith1 · 13/08/2010 11:10

It's peeing down here too Brassica! Has been since I got up and was really dark this morning, has only just lightened up slightly but is still spitting.

My grandad was a twin (which I didn't find out until his funeral, cue some scary moments at the wake!) and apparently it runs in the family but skips a generation, so it's my turn, much to everyone else's delight!

Though when I think about it, I'm that terrified of labour, if I had twins, one after the other, I wouldn't need to do it anymore cos I only want two, then it'd all be over within 1 labour Grin.

At the risk of sounding pathetic, how many of you have eaten a huge meal, then when your stomach is bulging, looked at yourself sideways in the mirror and pushed it out a little more to see what you would look like pg?

Can you tell I haven't got much to do at work today!

takethatlady · 13/08/2010 11:16

Lol brassica and josie. That doctor sounds like a barrel of laughs Hmm

Love the greedy dinner bump :) I've actually shoved a cushion up my jumper before, and waddled about the house like the cushion is really heavy.

Unfortunately the corners spoil the illusion ... Grin

vallinnapod · 13/08/2010 11:28

Brassica - I had NOTHING mentioned to me about side effects and I didn't get an info leaflet with the pills either!! All my medical knowledge comes from the web!! As I mentioned I have not noticed anything really (other than sahara vag Grin). Some people go a bit mental on it in terms of hormones all over the shot - I think that may be the case if your hormone levels aren't THAT bad so you end up with loads of oestorgen sending you cuckoo. Other than those I read bloating, headaches, insomnia, hot flushes. Sounds awful but like I say - unscathed here!

Well done with the pledge takethat - you realise it is legally binding!

Funny story from yesterday! I chose to tell my Dad all the details! Ha ha ha! He is going away for 6 weeks and if anything particularly good/bad happened I didn't want the first he heard of it all was over the phone.

As you can imagine, I am still about 10 in his eyes but it was actually a really sweet conversation! He ended by saying he was too young to be a grandparent (he isn't Wink) I told him I felt like I would be adding to teen pregnancy statistics (which at 29, I'm clearly not!)

crowette · 13/08/2010 11:53

sticks head in and waves timidly

Hello lovely ladies, can I join in? :)

After initially deciding that we didn't want anymore children - we both have daughters from previous relationships, youngest being ten - OH and I have decided we would love one of our own, so have decided to TTC asap :S We're both 38 and don't want to waste anytime in case it takes a while!

So, have registered at the docs (recently moved to the area) just awaiting the letter to say I've been accepted with my registration appointment, then I can talk to him about whipping out my coil!

In the meantime I'm on the folic acid, vits and omega3 oil tablets, and OH is 'trying' to give up smoking.

Eeeeeekk!!!

BrassicaBabe · 13/08/2010 11:55

While I'm a normal weight, I carry my weight on my tummy. So I'd have to eat quite a lot for a bump to show Hmm

I had heard whisperings of clomid side effects, but unusually for the google-queen I've steered clear of the net.

Grin for vallinnas converstation with her dad

BrassicaBabe · 13/08/2010 11:57

Hiya crowette. Welcome

It's not normally this busy here, but there are a few of us skiving with nothing else to do this morning.

crowette · 13/08/2010 12:03

Thanks for the welcome :)

I'm on holiday from work at the moment, so have time to kill - recovering from a day out with my girls and the OH yesterday, feeling like I need another week off to get over this one!

JosieSmith1 · 13/08/2010 12:53

I'm at work but I'm quick fingered so can flick to something important looking before boss notices I'm on here Grin

takethatlady · 13/08/2010 13:07

hello crowette [waves a pee-soaked stick in greeting]

You have come to the right place. Don't listen to me, I've lost it.

vallinna your dad sounds lovely Smile

HarderToKidnap · 13/08/2010 13:20

Hi, just catching up, haven't been on the thread for aaaages.

"Official" JS (i.e. shags where DH doesn't withdraw before the final moment....) commence on 1st September. Since having coil removed I have had a 19 day cycle and a 37 day cycle - RTOD has just arrived today. Of course I POAS three times last week convinced I was pregnant despite the fact we haven't actually had sex without withdrawing. The conviction was based on a slightly horrid tasts in my mouth and a brief dizzy spell. I hope these cycles sort themselves out into nice 28 day jobbies, which is what I have had ALL MY LIFE except for the last two months. I have also convinced myself I have PCOS.

Roll on 1st Sep!!

BrassicaBabe · 13/08/2010 13:42

Josie when I'm at work in the office (at home today) I sometimes write my post into word or notepad and then paste it into MN. It makes the time with MN on screen much shorter Wink Sneaky eh?!
