Just to start us off.

May this be a happy and lucky thread for all of us.

Beattiebow · 07/09/2010 08:15

peak on monitor this morning!! will I resist swi?

(problem is of course, that if I dtd and then have a mc, I will feel that it is all my fault. But my other thought is that if I do have too little blood, i won't get pg anyway, so i may as well go ahead anyway....)

Hello Gum, i have a ds with the same name as yours btw. Mine is 11 though! Good luck with SMEP!

Hello everyone else, off to work now, so will catch up later be very busy working

hippychick66 · 07/09/2010 09:33

jolls hello there Mrs. Sorry to hear your feeling sad, but of course I totally understand why. I hope Bouquet of Barbed wire and a glass of wine have helped to momentarily lift your spirits. I vaguely remember that programme the first time around. i seem to remember being allowed to stay up to watch it despite it being a bit fruity - but I think I always fell asleep - nothing new there then!!

I cannot imagine what life is like for you right now. Being in a small house with all those cats and one of them needing it's own bedroom - cheeky thing Grin.

gum Your chemist must love you!!! I am impressed at your HPT collection Smile. good luck for this month.

beattie a hard decision whether to wait or not. I guess that's why I don't like the fact that she said you would MC if you got preg again. If you were to get pregnant again now before she says you can Angry - you'll be so bloody paranoid. thinking of you and hoping it all works out ok.

italian Yes - you could stand up on the stage and say "Who are you?" to Natalie Imbrulia !!!! Grin

As for me - I am very confused. I am starting to suspect that I am not pregnant. My boobs still feel very tingly and my temp is still up but I just have a bad feeling. I have mild period pains and back ache today. Also I find that if you stare at your CM on a piece of tissue for long enough it starts to look faintly pink - arrgghgh.

Did another test this morning (internet cheepie FYI gum) and that said 'bog off your not preggers' too.

Nothing to do now but wait for AF or a better answer from the sticks. My temp has been up for 13 days now and it never usually stays up that long - Confused Hmm Confused I would love to be preggers this month cos it would mean i conceived around the time my little one was due and that would be so nice.

hippychick66 · 07/09/2010 10:58

we can tell i'm the only stay at home mum around here, i'm the only bugger on here...

hello, hello, hello - echoes back.

Beattiebow · 07/09/2010 10:59

I'm at work, so obviously far too dedicated and important to lurk around on here half an hour after I got here!

mslucy · 07/09/2010 11:00

I know this is from the Daily Hate (boo! hiss!) but it outlines medical thinking that you shouldn't wait.
I am pg straight after a mc at the beginning of Aug - very early days so not counting my chickens, so maybe there is some truth.

My mum conceived me straight after a mc - sure she was only 30 - and I know other people who have done this, including my neighbour who had her daughter at the age of 47!!!

randomimposter · 07/09/2010 11:28

hippy hello!! I'm here too, avoiding cleaning whenever I can. Supposed to be maximising DS at nursery time but frankly can't be arsed. The cats get a bit freaked by the Dyson (well 3 of them do) and one also goes all pathetic when the washing machine's on. To be fair it's in the bathroom, and about 57 years old so does shake the entire terrace when on spin cycle....

gum loving your little big stash Grin

you know the whole do you don't you wait thing.... I think as absolutely noone can give you any guarantees of what may/might/could/will happen, you have to choose your own path and feel happy with it. Yes, one might get pg right away, and it go fine, or it might MC.... And/but external factors may have everything/something/nothing to do with it. Of course your body needs to be as healthy as poss, but your mind has to be also...

OP posts:
AlbaDeTamble · 07/09/2010 12:03

Oh Jolls, huge big hug, it's really awful and rotten luck that you're even having to think about whether to wait or not and I think in all fairness your summary is probably spot on. Sorry if I sounded a bit smug with my what worked for me splurge yesterday, but I just so want you all to be happily pregnant now too and wish there was a magic wand that could be waved to make it happen

hippychick66 · 07/09/2010 12:18

mslucy Thanks for that article. I agree with you and with Jolls that it is a personal decision. I wanted to take advantage of the 'so called' hightened fertility after an MC and I got pregnant 3 months after my MMC but it ended in an early spontaneous MC -which goes against what they say will happen in the majority of cases. Of course there are always those of us in the unlucky percentage. And I guess they are not talking about an old bird like me!

jolls I have just seen something interesting on This Morning - please note I was also cleaning the kitchen whilst watching - please don't slate me for being a lazy SAHM Grin

Anyway, where was I? (Hippy sits back on the sofa enjoying her tea and the peace and quiet!)

Ahh yes, there was a woman on This Morning who had a condition called Killer Cells - she had 2 MC's then a healthy pregnancy followed by 2 more MC's. She then had a test for hightened Killer cells (please note you have to have not been preg for 3 months to have the test), they found that she had high numbers of these killer cells, which we all have in our bodies (to kill off germs etc) but hers were reacting to the pregnancy and becoming so high they were killing off her pregnancies (she said she had a very good immune system and never got sick).

They gave her prednisolone (steroids)in her next pregnancy and she had another healthy baby.

The reason I thought of you jolls rather than GG was because she said she lost all her pregs around the 12 week mark (and I think yours were later losses than hers). Having said that GG she did say that she fell pregnant very very easily every time.

Anyway, I am rubbish at linking stuff on her (technophobe) but it might be worth just googling killer cells and miscarriage and see more about it. Apparently the test costs about £100. Worth a mention when you see someone jolls???

By the way jolly - don't think your saucy comment about beattie having her tongue out when the au pair walked in went un-noticed!!! I thought I was the one who lowered the tone around here Wink.

hippychick66 · 07/09/2010 12:20

Big wave to alba. I am waiting to see if I get to join you all on the preg after MC thread. As you can probably see from my recent posts I am Confused

I am on day 25 today and temps still up but no BFP - so it could go either way. Hope you are well my love.

Beattiebow · 07/09/2010 12:42

Yes jolls I saw that too. my tongue was one part of me not on display Blush. let's say, if she saw anything, it would have been a rather gynaecological view Blush Blush [cringe]. Suspect she saw rather more of dh though! [cringe more]

I had my mc more than 6 months ago which according to that article isn't good news either. Oh well. Will just trust (or not) my body.

Hippy CD25 is still pretty early to get a positive - I would continue to test every day wait a few more days. Everything crossed for you!

oh, and possibly tmi, coinciding with my peak, and ewcm, I have having spotting too. never had that before at ovulation. Just to ensure that I don't miss this happening this month.

Diege · 07/09/2010 12:42

Hello! Just a quick one from work. Still hopefully for you Hippy - if af was imminent your temps would surely have dropped? Now if that EWM pink streak was linked to implantation (which can go on for weeks I've read) you wouldn't necessarily get a pos for a few days yet?
Jollster totally agree with what you say about the mind/body thing and trying again.
Also liking your cat-friendly housework avoidance techniques Grin
Beattie I think I'd get SWI if I were you - while I do like 'complementary' medicine I really don't see there are any grounds from meeting you once is saying the next pregnancy would result in miscarriage - how odd Hmm.
Hi Alba, don't think your 'splurge' was smug at all, v. helpful x
Hi mslucy interesting article (though agree quite surprising from the Daily Hate/Fail)I also got pregnant straight after my mc - I spoke to the miscarriage association who said as far as they knew (from research) even the one mth wait was only for dating purposes- my hosp had said 6-12 mths, as if that was ever going to happen..
Right best go,e-mail box pinging again!

Beattiebow · 07/09/2010 12:59

actually just got your reference jolls too slow today. am cringing at my desk. (about au pair more than my slowness).

hippychick66 · 07/09/2010 13:07

Thanks for the encouragement diege. I will not test again until friday (provided AF hasn't turned up and spoilt the party before then). I did look back at one of my charts and I had a high temp in the morning and a period by the evening - so must not count my chicken!!

beattie I know day 25 is early to test it's just that my cycles never get beyond about 23 days - so I just thought no AF by 25 = preggers - but who the feck knows!!! Grin

beattie Defo get shagging (unless you are waiting). I had spotting once at the time of ovulation (the 1st month we tried after MMC) according to Toni it is a secondary sign of fertility and only happens in the very fertile - whoop whoop - you go girl!!

mslucy · 07/09/2010 13:49

hippy sit on your hands - no tests til day 28 at least Wink

chek this out
www.peeonastick.com/

a must read for anyone tempted to test too early!

djinnie · 07/09/2010 14:00

Sat here chuckling at you lot.

Trying to sort myself and my team out at work. Not feeling very motivated. I too am a lecturer (HE in FE). Really just bouncing emails allocating work to everyone.

Very bloated today. Feel like a balloon. Somebody prick me.

I think we should have a lava lamp in The Snug too. I find them really relaxing Grin

Diege · 07/09/2010 16:12

Hey Djinnie I too have been sending e-mails to colleagues trying to sort of teaching allocations...I'm in HE but have been sending to colleagues who teach the degree in FE places - spooky...And yes, lava lamp for our snug. Have I said how pleased I am that the title 'snug' got accepted? Grin
Fingers crossed for temps etc tomorrow Hippy!

Italiangreyhound · 07/09/2010 18:22

Hi all

Hope the boobs are OK Hippy.

Sorry to hear not much going on Gum.

Jolly Hope you will feel better soon. I can't believe one cat gets their own room!

SOOO Tempted to buy a dog at the moment, DH would go spare!

Sassy are you still decorating? Try this I am sad I love Larva lamps!

I am not sure I understand all this needing to wait before TTC, is it that something will change in the next few months? Don't worry about answering if everyone else knows what it is about!

DH and I made up after a row! There was something at work about situations in another country and it was so traumatic and sad I thought why waste time on petty rows!

I had a BFN today. I didn't bother posting that I was late as I know it was HIGHLY unlikely anything was up! Anyway, after about 6 days I caved in and brought a test from my local store. It was sealed so tight in a plastic case that I had to rip the thing open with my teeth while sitting on the loo trying very hard not to pee!

Anyway, I finally got it open, and peed and of course, BFN. Sad

I think the whole waiting for donor eggs thing is good but everyone now and again I think how nice it would be to not pay £6K for treatment and also that the baby (if there were one) would be just like my DD! But really there might be a baby who looked nothing like my lovely DD. I do kind of feel she is the best of me and the best of hubby. Anyway, Rosemary Conley tomorrow! Grin

Sorry it's all me, me, me!

mslucy · 07/09/2010 19:17

can we have some candles in the snug as well.
and a big bowl of crisps.
Any kind will do (except prawn cocktail as those are VOM

hippychick66 · 07/09/2010 19:40

Sorry to hear about the BFN italian Sad. I know you say it was a long shot but it still would have been lovely and think what you could have bought with the 6k you saved (many many lava lamps).

I think I will defo be joining you in the not pregnant stakes this month. I had a bit of pink spotting earlierand now have a very 'my period is coming' feeling. Back pain and cramps etc. Weirdly my bloody boobs keep twinging and tweaking which is giving me a little bit of hope but i think best not to get my hopes up any more.

It is odd for me to have such a long LP - good in a way I suppose. I will temp again tomorrow and see what's occuring and report back but I very much fear I will be doing the old egg meets sperm method (along with the rest of you) in about 10 days time Sad.

Totally agree - prawn cocktail crisps = a big yuck.

Diege · 07/09/2010 19:43

Smokey bacon gets my vote (agree about the prawn cocktail, though my mouth is strangely watering thinking about the latter).

Italian sorry for the bfn, though you did make me smile with your account of ripping off the plastic while trying not to wee Grin. I totally understand where you're coming from with the donar eggs (or not) scenario- I feel sure that you will get your baby whatever way fate decides x

Big day at work for me tomorrow - have to persuade the big boss that I know best about staffing and he should just say yes to my plans Hmm. As extra insurance have just put out my swishy shirt dress and hurridly applied fake tan over dry-shaved legs (ouch!).Please God may it not streak! It really is a case of desperate measures!

I think the snug is coming along nicely.Maybe a big American fridge to put our beveridges and choc in?

Diege · 07/09/2010 19:46

Oh no HippySadThere's still hope of course, but can see where you're coming from. That would be a good LP though if af did arrive.I won't be doing the sperm egg plan - just the good old every other day - don't think dh couldhack it if I'm honest Blush

hippychick66 · 07/09/2010 20:20

Good luck diege - I hope the bristtly, streaked legs work their magic Wink

I am quite pissed off actually cos a couple of days ago i was bloody convinced I was preg and now I'm bloody convinced I'm not {angry].

Darn these misleading boobs!!!

randomimposter · 07/09/2010 20:41

I like good old ready salted FWIW. I vote for a neverending supply of G&B choc - partic butterscotch... LOVE the fridge idea Diege - though you know you should never chill choc don't you.... ruins the melting point on your tongue...

anyway meant to post earlier that I was quietly polishing off the pompoms for Hippy.... sorry you think signs not now looking promising, but you never know...?

italian sorry about BFN... it's pants that our bodies mislead us so much. Just a idle thought on donor eggs... my friend has 2 sons from donor eggs with her new husband, and the middle one looks so like her eldest son (from a previous relationship, so no genetic link at all). I think the theory is linked to epigenics, that the time spent in the womb has a massive influence on development?

must go - cats fighting Angry

OP posts:
SassySusan · 07/09/2010 20:45

CD8 - I really, really don't feel like it. Have looked at the EMSplan, and I know I am meant to... but tbh, there is no way I am about to ov - so it all seems a bit of a waste of time...

I've brought some hula hoops and some Smarties.. Nigel Slater (the one man on earth I would shag other than my DH) says "No one can resist a smartie".

randomimposter · 07/09/2010 20:47

but sassy, he's called Nigel...?
