Just to start us off.

May this be a happy and lucky thread for all of us.

OP posts:
hippychick66 · 06/09/2010 11:04

italian It wasn't the charting thread that got heated Grin. Basically someone on there had a second MC and was very upset. I think it took her a long time to get pregnant each time and she was, understandably, very angry and bitter about her situation.

She started a thread in AIBU - probably something like Am I being unreasonable to feel angry at all pregnant women. (she started another one about people who put scan pictures on facebook at the same time). Anyway, from what I gather it all got out of hand and someone said something to her about her not even being a mum so shouldn't be on MN Shock.
She is still very upset and I can empathise.

I know partly how she feels, having had 2 losses as well. But the difference for her is that she doesn't have 2 lovely DC's already and she does take a long time to get preg. So I totally understand why she is so upset.

beattie what has Toni been upto then?

djinnie I think you should ask for a blood test from the docs. You can't be left in this limbo!

Ok to those of you who wanted me to test - i have caved and done it - BFN!!!

I have these symptoms:-

  1. Dolly Partons boobs

  2. Temps went up to a 3rd level 9 days after ov and have stayed up.

  3. No spotting (only times i've got to day 24 without spotting I have turned out to be preg).

  4. had a nose bleed the other day.

  5. Opened tin of anchovies and they smelt odd to me but not anyone else.

So I am hoping that I've just tested too early. It was FMU and it was a first response.

So who knows if I am or not???? Confused

I will keep you informed .....

mslucy · 06/09/2010 11:32

Hi there.
Can I join this thread as I'm 40 and just discovered I'm pg again - mc at beginning of Aug. No period in between - just pg again.
All very weird as I had to have IUI to conceive my DS2 and now this is happening.
Had a small weird bleed on Fri night - all gone apart from tiny bit of spotting first thing this morning.
Did tests on Sat and this morning - both +ve, though feel scared to even admit to myself that I'm pg again and have no idea whether it will last at all.
My emotions are all over the place - I'd love another baby, but am not totally desperate because I have 2 already and consider myself to be a very lucky person.

I feel my hormones have gone crazy - like I'm having some massive surge as I enter my 40s.

I am going to the EPU for a scan next Wed - who knows if it will even last that long Confused

hippychick66 · 06/09/2010 11:50

Welcome mslucy . Good luck with the EPU. You are very welcome to join us. I understand exactly what your saying about already having 2 but still wanting a baby. I'm the same. I think it's possible to still appreciate what we have and be darn grateful for them but wish for more. We are all hormonal mad women over 40 on here so settle right in lovie.

I forgot to say, yes italian i watched that X factor. My DS1 and i were Shock when she smacked her friend!!!!! It was not Danni Minogue it was Natalie Imbrulia who she asked, "Who are you?" - for goodness sake keep up with us trendy young things woman! Wink

Beattiebow · 06/09/2010 11:50

wow hippy I would say that you tested too early myself. the signs all look pretty good otherwise!

Hello mslucy sorry about your mc, but fingers crossed for you!

jolls have just come back from seeing Elaine. She is pretty good I think - very impressive and really seems to know what she is talking about. She told me that I am have very very low blood levels and need to push for natural progesterone from the drs too as I probably have low progesterone. She said I need to wait a couple of cycles so she can boost my blood levels (didn't like to hear that), and that I should take agnus castus. I'm not to happy to wait really, but will try and resist trying for a few weeks now maybe. Have you gone back to her yet? (btw, I didn't say that you, had recommended her so just said I had googled her!).

mslucy · 06/09/2010 12:03

hippychick

lol at "hormonal mad women"

just about sums me up at the moment, so I am glad there are others out there.

fingers crossed for everyone testing - if you can wait until at least AF is due (or ideally late) it's much better as most home tests are pretty unreliable until then.

hippychick66 · 06/09/2010 12:19

I just tried to add a message but it isn't there Hmm.

It went something like:-

I hear you mslucy but this lot are so bossy and they made me do it Wink.

Then i said something about the acupuncturist telling you to wait beattie She does seem to like telling people to wait - does she not know how old we are ?? Wink

How does she know you are low on progesterone?? I'd say only wait if it's what you really want to do. I am a firm believer in alternative meds though.

i hope you're right about me testing early - i will wait a few days now.

Last thing I said was mslucy not sure how much of this thread you've read but hope you like the snug???

Now will try to post this one and hope it works.

Beattiebow · 06/09/2010 12:47

Hippy she also told me to stop temping Shock. I'm far too addicted to that to stop!

i did say to her that I would find it very difficult to wait, but she said that I would be likely to have another mc if I did get pg. We'll see, if I get ewcm or a positive opk will I have the willpower not to dtd just in case?

I am eating lots of soup now to boost my blood supply.

Seeing unsympathetic dr on fri to try and get some progesterone.

djinnie · 06/09/2010 12:48

Hi mslucy

Beattie and Hippy went to GP last Weds he wanted me to test on Sat and then come back this week, so guess he will run a blood test this week some time. My appt is Weds evening - don't know if they can test in the evening. Going to struggle to get in during the day till next week now... [hmmm]

Tbh Sat morning was quite upset it was BFN. Had a little cry. But think I do accept now that I'm not pregnant. Massive absence of symptoms.

hippychick66 · 06/09/2010 14:04

djinnie I hope you get some answers soon. xxx

beattie I do not mean to disrespect this woman as I know that both you and jolly use her and as I say i am all for acu & reflexology. But, how the flippin' heck can she say that to you (about you having another MC if you don't wait). She has no way of knowing if you would have another MC. that does make me a bit Angry. How does she know you are low on progesterone is it based on blood tests from the doc or from just doing acu???

I know you are nowhere near as old as me Envy Grin but I wouldn't be able to resist SWI if I got a pos OPK.

Sorry, if I've offended you at all, I'm just on your side and I wonder why she keeps telling people to wait. She told jolly to wait before and unfortunately it didn't make any difference to the outcome of her last preg and she's told her to wait again.

Do you have a history of low progesterone, were you told that was why you mc'd before??

In my humble opinion once over 40 it seems to be a lucky dip - whether a good egg comes out or a bad one and unless this lady can ensure that by waiting you will raise the odds of a good egg - then I don't see the point in waiting.

Am I being too judgmental??

Diege · 06/09/2010 14:15

Hello! FWIW I also thought the same thing as you Hippy about the acumpuncturist's comments to Beattie, esp the miscarriage one Hmm Not sure I would wait, esp as there doesn't seem to be convincing grounds to wait, at least not as yet?
Hippy I'd say your symptoms looks v.good and that test may well be too early - our fault for nagging you Blush
Italian great to hear from you - you are a wealth of information! Re: me, I'm a sociologist and lecture in sociology and politics to social policy and social work students. Very overworked at present and waiting to hear by from HR if they'll extend my 0.8 contract to full-time as getting sick of doing 7 days work for 4 days pay!!
Beattie what;s this soup then
??? Any soup, or something 'special'? Grin. Welcome to the agnus castus club - I love the stuff! Fertility friend has told me that my luteal phases 'appears normal' since taking it,so I'm (easily) pleased.
Oh and what's the goss on Toni???? Please don't say she'sbeen unmasked as a massive fraudster and is really a hairy biker in Staines reeling it in off Amazon!!!
Right, must get back to my ever pinging work e-mails...supposedly annual leave today too Angry

hippychick66 · 06/09/2010 14:25

diege You are forgiven for nagging me, I cannot blame anyone else - it was my pee in the cup after-all Grin Will wait a few days and try again. Sorry if i keep honking your boobs in the meantime!

You are soooo clever, what a posh job title. i am a very important 'stay at home mum' at the moment. It's a tough job - but not now they are back at school.Grin

i found the hours between 9 - 2 today rather easy. i'm hoping now they are at school that I'll be able to get this house a bit more 'shabby chic' and less 'shabby gypsy camp' and finally get it on the market!

Glad I'm not the only one who is a bit Hmm about being told to wait to TTC. Are you offended beatie - please say no Wink.

hippychick66 · 06/09/2010 14:28

How funny if 'Toni' turns out to be a middle aged bloke who knows nowt about women's cycles. unlikely though!

Diege · 06/09/2010 16:15

Yes that's it - obviously a 'Tony' Shock
Thanks for the 'clever' tag - I agree it does sound impressive...sick to death of it at the moment tbh - the students have reached a new level of neediness and my superiors aren't answering my e-mails..
Anyways, back to the stuff of real life I'm gearing up (v.slowly) for the next round of SWI - got to love this early ov..no sign as yet, but cd 4 so will have to start opk testing soon as ov cd 12 last month. Have a good feeling about this month for some reason Smile
What cd are you on Hippy?

Beattiebow · 06/09/2010 16:51

I'm not offended Hippy. And not at all sure that I will wait. She did say that if I was already pg from swi this month, then we would just deal with that.

I'm not sure how soup will boost my blood levels, but apparently I have to eat lots of hot food.

jolls how are you?

I can't remember many interesting facts from the interview with "toni" apart from the fact she didn't have children (by choice).

muchlove · 06/09/2010 17:12

Hey All

So DIEGE You got an OLOGY eh ....clever thing you x
HIPPY Stupid test showing a BFN ... gggrrhh have you dismantled it yet... looked at it in every available light???? Good sign for no spottng yet tho ??? Maybe a late implanter..... x
Have you tested again GG? Sorry to hear you got sad at the quilt making Sad but I know how you feel, the least little thing is setting me off lately I know it's hormones settling down again after my chemical but even so it takes its toll on us x
BEATTIE That's a tough call on having to wait a few months HmmI don't know what I would do - understand totally what HIPPY is saying aswell - I had ACCU back in January (a 7 week course) and just found it made my temps lower and messed my sleep up a couple of nights a week Confused BUT I did get PG in the Feb - unfortunately that ended in MC, I was also taking herbs with it too, not sure what was in them as my ACCU lady could'nt speak a word of English and I had to have a translater ?????
Welcome MsLUCY really hope all works out ok for you - don't worry bout the emotions just crash out in the snug and have a good cry if you want

Hi to ITALIAN (I don't watch x factor anymore because I don't like the auditions on the stage - but I did catch that bit when she clobbered her... so funny ...so Vicky Pollard...)
SASSY How are you today ?
DJINNI Hope you get some answers with your bloodtest - sorry bout the BFN. Like your website specially the embroidered cushions
Waves to GUM and JOLLY

Well I'm gearing up for OV but I think it's a coupla days away yet.... always weird how after a loss my body misbehaves for the first month so I don't hold out much hope for this month and I honestly can't stop bloody crying (I am not the worlds greatest cryer...I dont like what it does to my eyes) but I seem to be walking around under a cloud Sad .... so I'm gonna go n sit in the SNUG for a while and paint my toes whilst watching a film
xx

AlbaDeTamble · 06/09/2010 18:24

Not at all medically qualified here, but medical advice I got was no need to wait, and i'm currently pregnant having fallen pg immediately following chem preg, and that one was was only a one cycle gap after MMC... Though in terms of my body being 'ready' I have drunk a lot of iron sachets to keep anaemia at bay (low iron can suppress ovulation), taken rather expensive and allegedly very good high strength pregnancy multivits, and I know I've gone on about it before but read a lot about benefits of folic acid and its role in good cell division, hence reducing risk of MC. I was taking 800mcg per day rather than the advised 400, and have read of other over 40s being advised to take even more. I agonised about progesterone then decided if my body could hang on to poor little MMC bean for nearly a month then the problem was unlikely to have been low progesterone in my case as early sign of that is spotting... But others swear by it and if you think it's an issue then the peace of mind and stress reduction that brings definitely helps. The antiphospholipid antibodies test worth it to find out if you have clotting issues that aspirin could help with (google Hughes syndrome to get website of chap who discovered the problem, it's very informative). NHS won't do it before 3 MCs, privately it cost me £80. Can help rule out a cause and give some peace of mind, or if positive, gives you something you can do something about.
Finally, hypnotherapy is great for stress reduction and there are a few CDs around for conception and pregnancy.
Hope that helps? Sorry can't reference all the wonderfully helpful websites I got all my info from, typing on phone and it's just too tricky

Hippy, First Response, surprisingly, are actually not very sensitive tests... Try again in a couple of days. Meantime my fingers are still tightly crossed for you!

hippychick66 · 06/09/2010 18:27

muchlove sorry you're feeling so down. Watch a comedy in the snug - not a bloody weepy Grin Hope you feel better soon and are ready for some SWI.

Can't remember who asked but - I am on CD 24.

I had a bit of egg whites with 1 streak of blood earlier. So i'm wondering now if i'm mistaken and AF is on the way. But my boobs are very inflated (not looking just feeling). all very confusing - the next few days will tell.

glad you have a feeling about this month for you diege - so you've got the old silver hoop earrings and chrystal ball out again then Wink (it was you before wasn't it?)

love to all. xxx

beattie - phew - glad I didn't offend.

AlbaDeTamble · 06/09/2010 18:28

Oh dear, my last edit disappeared... The other thing that's imperative is a big dose of good luck, which I wish for you all Wink

Big squeeze particularly for Jolls, lovely to see you dart into the other thread, missing you!

hippychick66 · 06/09/2010 20:15

Just watched yet another truelly unrealistic labour on Coronation Street. She went from - 'ohh first contraction' to 'arrgghhh I need to push' in record time. I guess they can't have the whole programme taken up with her waiting for her contractions to kick in.

Did i tell you that our car broke down on the way to the hospital when I was having DS2 - all very Eastenders (i kept saying to DH "if this was on a soap - i'd never believe it!" All ok in the end though Grin

I have pains in my thighs (endo pain). i usually get it before I ovulate so have no idea if the pains are a good sign or a bad sign. Every wipe with the tissue in the loo is like suspended animation. Ahh well what will be will be - if I'm not preg i've got to do muchlove's Sperm meets egg plan next time(arrggh sounds exhausting!)

Anyone in the snug??? (Hippy pokes head around door).

Italiangreyhound · 06/09/2010 20:45

Hi all busy washing up so no time to name check but seems like the X factor joke is on me as even I don;t know who the star judge is!

What was Toni saying in the paper and which paper was it.

SassySusan · 06/09/2010 20:54

Evening all xx

Noticed if someone asked if I was temping, and I was going to reply "no, I have a permanent job".
I am clearly not with it today.

Welcome to Ms Rose

Muchlove Big hug for you - glad you are making use of the snug.

Hippy I think I was mixing up pg sore boobs with post-ovulation boobs... fingers crossed for you xx

CD8 for me tomorrow... will have to pysch myself up for the EMSP!

randomimposter · 06/09/2010 21:06

oooo, there's been a lot going on. Sorry, have been lurking a bit, though still trying to get on top of juggling small person and 5 cats in a shoe-box... But also a bit down, so not much to say.

BB.. glad you saw E, and thought she seemed impressive. She has a certain presence doesn't she. Mind you am thinking of asking for a refund, worked no arsing magic for me AngryWink. Really interested that she "diagnosed" that about you - was that from pulse and tongue (I only ever get "fine, good"?) I empathise HOOOOGELY about the whole wait thing.... I agreed first time round as I thought it seemed reasonable that she would need a period of time to treat me, knowing for sure I wasn't pg. I saw her 3 days after MMC confirmed (pre-booked appt) hoping she might be able to move things along, but have not booked up yet to see her again. Am going to make an appointment at the Agora and get some recurrent MC advice - have been recommended to see Carol. I know I will get some tests on the NHS now, but think I need to hurry things along, and maybe some AC advice might be wise...?

Sorry will catch up on other news and post again. Wave to all. Have rose to drink (corner shop does NOT sell OBSB, will have to move IMMEDIATELY) and Bouquet of Barbed Wire to watch... LOVE LOVE LOVE Trevor Eve Grin xx

OP posts:
Beattiebow · 06/09/2010 21:50

Hi Jolls, yes she took one look at my tongue and gasped! (I had also mentioned to her that my periods are very light). She recommended the Agora for me too for when i can't get any progesterone. Will see the dr first and see what he says.

sorry you are feeling down - quite understandable really I think. enjoy Trevor Eve!

randomimposter · 06/09/2010 22:04

BB was going to make a joke about the au pair also gasping when she saw your tongue.... Grin... I have Spatone in the cupboard, I really need to start taking it. Good luck at the docs - be strong and assertive!

sassy love the temping joke BTW.

hippy have been meaning to ask what you were planning to get upto workwise and there was my answer! Hope SAHMness proves splendid.

Hi to all
Off to bed - very tired zzzzzzzzzzzzzz

OP posts:
gumblossom · 07/09/2010 04:32

Hi all. I seem to have lost my place because I've not been posting, but I really have nothing to report.

Opk's starting to look darker, so should Ov in the next few days.Feeling optimistic this month, so will do my best to do the SMEP. As long as O is near the weekend, it won't be a problem, but, frankly, during the week,it really requires a great deal of juggling and planning!

I was in the chemist this morning, stocking up on Co Q 10 and saw a new brand of pregnancy test.It wasn't all that expensive, so I thought I'd add it to my collection. I now have internet cheapies, first response, bodytalk and another brand I can't remember.I'll try to hold out til AF due instead of using them all up in the week before(Shockyes,it's happened before).

I've so much to catch up on I can't really do personals. Just want you to know I'm thinking of you all and crossing everything for loads of bfp's.

Charlie had a bad night due to teething, so I'm ready for a nap at 11.30 a.m.

Just when I thought things were getting easier with him...
