Just to start us off.

May this be a happy and lucky thread for all of us.

I have to admit I bought The Book when I was 34. I read it then, and concluded it was a good idea to conceive straight away, rather than leaving it any later. I had just met DH, so hence DD, conceived a year later. I have been too scared to look at it again - in case it says - you are very old - don't bother. I think that's what I gleaned from it on the first reading...

I think we probably stop SWI-ing too early - so maybe I should get it out...

We don't watch any tv, so I was very concerned to hear Natasha had killed herself after failing to get pg. I thought she must be a regular poster Shock

Diege · 24/08/2010 16:30

LolSassy,if it's any consolation I think that, in a virtual 'virtual' world, Natasha would indeed be an avid mumsnetter Confused

randomimposter · 24/08/2010 18:43

feel bad that I've stopped watching Corrie of late... still endure watch 'enders, but Corrie a bit early after getting DS to bed... so don't even know who Natasha is... :(

Thx for all your lovely wishes. ERPC today, necessary in the end as had only had light bleeding... all went well, was in exactly the same bed as my first ERPC, and realised as I lay there that is is exactly one year to the day since my first MMC was confirmed at my 13 week scan... so exactly one year of sadness and worry and obsession and knicker-checking and timing SWI; a year of a new understanding of what baby-yearn is :( .... Cried a lot when came round in recovery and when back on the ward. But feel ok now.

Hippy thinking about your blood concerns, you old (not in age terms) hypochondriac worrier you! Am sure all fine... but keep us posted, sweets.

Love to all - must go as need to sort DS for bed etc.

Keep thinking broadband will disappear next time I log on... hopefully I won't be absent for too long.

SassySusan · 24/08/2010 19:00

Jolly I'm glad it is over at any rate, and you are feeling ok - I know you are not feeling ok... I am the Queen of OK too Sad

Anyway, as I don't know anything about Corrie, I thought I would contribute this instead...

When I was wee, there was a poster on the wall at school. It was a beautiful sunset - the sun setting into the sea, the photo taken from the coast - through a rock arch with the sun in the middle. YOu could look at the rock arch - or your eye could be drawn to the sun... Underneath it said - obstacles are what you see when you take your eye off the goal...

randomimposter · 24/08/2010 20:22

thanks sassy - was going to say can I be your Princess of OK, but then realised I can't be as am blimmin' older than you EnvyAngry, hence can I be your Dowager Duchess of OK... Grin

OP posts:
SassySusan · 24/08/2010 20:48

That sounds a bit extreme Jolly given you are only a few months older than me. How about you be the PrimeMinister - that sounds very important and you get a salary too Grin

randomimposter · 24/08/2010 21:03

the current PM has been quoted as saying "it just popped out" about his wife's CS today.... so cerebrally I must be an improvement on him.... Grin

OP posts:
SassySusan · 24/08/2010 22:21

You were anyway! Lets hope things improve for us all. Onwards and upwards xx

hippychick66 · 25/08/2010 11:36

jolly so sorry to hear about you crying when you came round. Natural of course and completely understandable but such a horrid thing to imagine. I like to imagine you being all jolly. I really really hope you are feeling jolly again soon lovie.

oh by the way - Moi a hypocondriach???? What do you mean???

diege - I might make love to my lovely DH tonight yes. I would never consider sex with a grimace on my face - I Love him so very much Wink Can you tell we have made up?

How sad about Natasha. I don't find that actor who plays Nick the slightest bit sexually attractive. He does zero for me. Defo not worth all Natasha's heartache. Wouldn't it be funny if corrie characters went on mumsnet. I am Envy of Fizz cos she has her 12 week scan this week - YES I KNOW IT'S NOT REAL Smile.

sassy I think what Toni says about old girls having babies is that it's best not to leave it to after 35 (yeah thanks for that excellent advise!)

But she does give good advise about keeping track of where your body is at in it's cycle and I find it a very helpful book. I got preg 3 months after my MMC and I'm sure it was cos I was more aware of when I ov'd. Hopefully it will happen again but with a more sprightly egg.

Diege · 25/08/2010 14:37

I agree Hippy, Nick does nothing for me either..having said that, if he were one of my friend's dps,I think I would be quyite impressed if that makes sense ConfusedGood luck for tonight you smoothie Wink
Jollster sorry to hear how traumatci the whole thing was and how upset you were, though totally normal.I know we've probably asked and asked, but is there any advice/tests they are running to see if there's something that can be done?(if indeed there's anything underlying at all).

Well slanket time for me Grin. FF has identified ovulation for me at day 12 (my temps rose again this morning - seems I have a gradual 'staircase' rise post-ov as opposed to a sudden shift) so can lay off for a few days, thank goodness Blush.I am starting to have quite vivid dreams about taking my temp, and then wake up after each one where I check the time..not great, and obviously anxious, but maybe they'll stop now that I've ovulated? Hmm. Anyway, what will be will be!

djinnie · 25/08/2010 15:03

Hello everyone

This is my first post having lurked for a few days. I decided to register just to thank you all really - you have answered loads of my questions Smile

I am 43 and for the first time ever my AF was late (I'm currently CD 34]. Normally I have a 24 day cycle. (can't believe I've managed to pick up some of the abbreviations!!) Grin

I'm married, have 4 step kids (17 to 24 only youngest at home now) and have always wanted one of my own. DH had his vasectomy (he'd had with first wife) reversed 4 years ago but a sperm test at 6 months showed no swimmers. I kind of gave up at that stage.

Anyway, got all excited about it - read the symptoms (was amazed at how little I know about all this stuff). I've been cramping since CD26 and it is driving me to distraction. Having read loads on these boards, I did a pregnancy test this morning. It was a BFN of course. I feel sad but also like it is not ever to be for me. It was a long shot.

Thanks anyway ladies and good luck to you all Smile

hippychick66 · 25/08/2010 15:30

djinni welcome to our thread. Quite a few of our ladies on here have had partners with vasectomy reversals - so they might be more help to you.

I'm no help to anyone really but I like to chat Grin.

diege Ahhhh settle in to that slanket girl Smile i can't join you yet. I got a pos on an OPK yesterday as well. Must have caught the surge at the begining and the end. So am still not sure if I've ov'd. Will ravish Mr Hippy tonight and then review the situation re: slanket tomorrowGrin

jolly ((((()))))

GG How are you doing - keep expecting you to pop on and tell us you are up the duff cos your DH winked at you again this month.

loony How far along are you now?

lia You must be about 9 weeks now.

Waves to all. xxx

galwaygal · 25/08/2010 18:18

Hippy - yep it is getting near that time again. Well I failed to seduce dh on sunday, so only managed one swi on cd6, but yesterday on cd10 got ov pain, spotting and loads of ewcm for previous 3 days, so now it looks like I might have ov'd on cd10 argggg. It is enough to get preg with my dh just being in the same room as me briefly, but to go back to my old short cycles huh.

Jollster - sorry to hear you had to have the erpc after all. Hope you find jolliness again very soon.

Deige - enjoy slanket time.

Got to go, as worked through my lunch break and am still here on works computer, now starving hungry, but desperate to catch up with everyone!

hippychick66 · 25/08/2010 20:29

I'm off to try to persuade my 'tired' husband to have sex with me - ahh what a chore for him.Wink

Love to all.
xxx

hippychick66 · 25/08/2010 20:31

sassy you don't watch any TV Shock. Our TV is on all the bloody time. Only time it's off is a power cut!!!

Don't dispare though Natasha is defo not real (THET ARE NOT REAL PEOPLE HIPPY - THEY ARE NOT REAL PEOPLE HIPPY!)

Diege · 25/08/2010 20:35

Hope you are in the throws of passion as we speak Hippy GrinHave a stinking headache here,so glad I'm dusted. Bol*ocks to the implantation-friendly spermies!
Galway, you never know, the swimmers may stay around long enough!
Welcome to djinnie Smile

Diege · 25/08/2010 20:35

That should have read done and dusted!

SassySusan · 25/08/2010 20:54

Have decided today I don't feel pg. As I don't feel pg, there doesn't seem much point in seeking out implantation-friendly sperm.

Came into see if lunatic had posted after her 12 week scan today....

Instead ended up with a mental image of GG's wee swimmers sticking round for the long haul - don't think even TONI says 4 days is impossible and of Hippy getting down and groovy with DH (her DH that is, not mine)...

Hippy - that's what I thought TONI said about getting pg. I read it at 34 and thought - shit - I thought I was young... I meed to get pg right now...

liahgen66 · 25/08/2010 22:36

hiya everyone, Just a really quick one as I have no internet and am using dh's laptop, only have limited time allowance, :)

Yes Hippy 10 wks tomorrow and keep having mini panic attacks about getting this far. I still feel like shit so thats good I think, resorted to sea bands today and have to say I do feel a little more human tonight so hopefully thats why.

No time to name check but hope evryone is well and hope you will find some peace jolls

Be back soon with full power restored hopefully. :)

gumblossom · 25/08/2010 23:47

Hi everyone.
Jolly I am glad it is over but sorry you had to go through that again. I hope you'll get some answers soon.

Aunty F found me this morning. Which is a good thing as I was getting a bit sick of waiting! It's 13 dpo, so my LP has lengthened a day since I've been taking multi B vitamins all month. I really thought I might have been in with a chance this month, but obviously loads of shagging at the right time isn't necessarily going to get the job done at this age.

Although I'm a little disappointed, I'm still hopeful. I really do want another baby and the longer I ttc, the more it becomes clear that I do want to do it. Whereas before I was wavering a bit.

Liaghen, 10 wks already. That must feel good.Your 12 week scan is just around the corner.

I found the sea bands really helpful when I had ms with my last LO.

Does anyone know when Ilovegregoryhouse is expecting her baby?It must be getting close, or perhaps it has been born.I wonder if I can find her on the site?

My boy had just woken, crying, so must run...

djinnie · 26/08/2010 09:04

Hi

Thanks for your welcomes. Still haven't come on so now CD35. What a complete nuisance. Still a bit crampy, so expect it every 5 minutes.

Ah well. Have a nice day all Smile

gumblossom · 26/08/2010 10:00

Hippy, did you see the doc yet? I hope all is fine.

hippychick66 · 26/08/2010 10:46

gum docs today at 4.00. Sorry AF got you but glad to hear it is defo what you want to do - keep at it lady.

sassy You wont feel preg until the embryo has implanted and your body has begun to produce HGH - so not feeling preg is no excuse to get you out of the SWITI Wink So get to it asap (bossy Hippy strikes again).

I had pains last night and this morning, so I think Ov has occured -plus I had a slight temp rise this morning. i usually go up a bit the first day and then much higher the next. So I think I'm done with SWI - slanket on until next week when I begin SWITI (thanks to susan!!!!)

lia congrats on 10 weeks. I think most early MC's occur prior to 8 weeks so you are getting safer all the time (I know that's not true of you jolly - sorry, honey.) But I think in general you can start to relax a bit now lia and in 2 weeks you'll get a scan - whoop whoop.

I think ILGH was due in september (she was not far behind my first pregnancy on this thread). I heard she was having a girl. Hope she pops in and tells us all when she has her baby.

sassy I read a thread a couple of months ago about a woman who was upset about the things people said to her after the death of her daughter. I realised last night that it was you. I didn't read it all but i just wanted to say if I say anything stupid or unintentionally hurtful please please let me know. I would hate to say the wrong thing and offend you. OK?

Diege · 26/08/2010 10:49

Morning! Sorry to hear about af Gum Sad.I had had a good feeling about you too. At least LP has lengthened though, which is excellent news. I'm hoping the AC will do the same for me this time round.
djinnie is there a chance at all that you could be pregnant, or were the results from dh's vasectomy pretty conculsive?

Hippy sure dr's appoint will be just routine and nothing esp exciting. Let us know anyway! How did the SWI go?

Had a massive temp rise this morning but realised I was pretty covered in cover, so took again and a little lower but still impressive. So 4 days post ov and things moving in the right direction. TBH, as this is the first month of charting I'd just be happy to get a decent LP, anything else a massive bonus!
Off to dreaded playbarn this afternoon with friend and her 2 DCs, should be fun Hmm
LOve to all x

hippychick66 · 26/08/2010 10:54

diege here is a blow by blow account of my most recent SWI ........ haha not really!

All ok troops in place, nothing to do for now but hope a decent egg has appeared and that they get together.

Enjoy 'playbarn' it sounds very country-fied. Grin
