For anyone old and new trying to conceive their first child. Lovely friendly ladies with a penchant for acronyms, charts and unsuitable snacks await your arrival with open arms. Here's the blatantly copied and pasted List from the last thread. If anything's wrong, I absolve myself of any responsibility!

Sorry for such a short post but I just wanted to say a HUGE congrats to Halo - so excited for you!

Hope everyone else is well and enjoying Friday

pixiestix · 23/07/2010 14:50

Halo I am soooo happy for you!
We have missed you so much on the grads thread. I know you must be terrified, but please know that everyone is rooting so hard for you and your little bean. Come and see us whenever you feel ready - your seat is firmly reserved over on the other side. [massive hug!]

LankyLegs · 23/07/2010 16:27

Hello gals - just dropping off a load of bubbles for you all since it's Friday and cause we are worth it!

Have good weekends all!

haloflo · 23/07/2010 19:00

Evening all! I just wanted to say thank you for all the congrats. I love you all. I know it can get a bit when others get a BFP so feel free to feel that like, I won't mind! I know I am very lucky.

DP was really pleased but cautious like me. I got a huge kiss and excited smile and then we went back to the one day thing. Basically he asks how I am before and after work, meaning has ERTD started. He said it's weird hoping I'll feel awful but he know's its a good sign.

grads Thank you so much for the welcome. I WILL see you all soon.

Good luck all those on the 2ww. zippys I really hope its your turn. How did I not notice you were on CD35?! You test when you are ready.

felicityFlick · 23/07/2010 19:18

Hello lovelies,

Back at my parents now so should have more time to catch up- before I do though, just wanted to say a huge congrats to the lovely flo! So pleased for you lovely xxxxxx

Big waves to all of the newbies that I've not welcomed yet I am not normally so rude- I promise!

Off to read through and catch up so will be back in a bit.

xxx

alien06 · 23/07/2010 19:21

Congrats Halo :0)

gardenpixie · 23/07/2010 20:11

Hi Halo just read your last post and realised this is the first time in AGES I've heard about someone else getting pg and been genuinely thrilled for them rather than ... (awful thing to admit, I know)

Must be the company of all you lovely ladies!

I'm off for some wine with my DH and parents, I'll have a secret toast to you!

stegasaurus · 23/07/2010 21:08

ERTD arrived today. That's bad obviously because I'm clearly not pg, but a surprise because it's the first period I've had all year that wasn't drug induced.

Hermya321 · 23/07/2010 21:30

Yay Halo that is such fabby fab news!! I'm so so happy for you!!

felicityFlick · 23/07/2010 22:08

Right am back - Had a quick skim through but think have missed too much to catch up on so will start afresh with the most recent bits and pieces and anything else I can remember from my lurking when I was in America.

Just wanted to say again how pleased I am for you flo and am glad you?re staying around for a while or I will miss you! Also need you for help with my CBFM when I no doubt run into probs at a crucial cycle point

How is your nephew aries? Hope he is doing ok and that you are not working too hard and that you are managing to get a bit of shagging in.

lanky you dear girl- your posts have made me chuckle in my lurking thanks for your excitement re. my CBFM and finally starting to ttc. Not needed to do any POAS for my CBFM yet as it doesn?t ask me for my first one until day 6 so I have a couple of days until I have to contend with that whilst staying at my parents with a very nosy 16 year old sister who likes to rifle through my things when I visit! Have you made up with Mr. L yet? I think your idea of having a ?party? month and then a month to focus on you is a great one. It will definitely take the pressure off as you will have other focus? and if you keep up the shagging anyway then it hey presto.....???!! and OMG how did I not know about the pregnology website?!!! It is amazing!! I love how it tells you how pregnant you will be at certain points- have been looking up things like Christmas, friend?s weddings etc- Love it!

kaloki Ouch!!! You poor thing. At least now you know what all the pain has been and glad you have some strong drugs to take take the edge of it. I was pleased to read about your dp?s tribunal while I was away- that must be a weight off your mind at least. How are the wedding plans coming along?! It?s not long at all now seeing as it?s August next week!

MrsW 4days in a row of SWI when on nights is V.impressive! How much longer ?til you?re finished on nights? Am keeping fingers crossed that your ?casual? approach will be a winner this month

Cave How exciting to be at the same/similar stage to your real life friend! Hopefully you will be able to get cracking at the same time and how lovely if you got preg at the same time?!! Sorry, am getting carried away here. I?ll keep my eyes peeled for your friend- will she recognise you from your name do you think?! or did you tell her? Hello if she is lurking already

kkas Hope you get the last interview scheduled in soon- it?s so frustrating waiting around for job stuff! Hope you have a lovely break in Edinburgh, I?ve never been and would love to go at some point.

alien From one teacher to another....?School?s out for summer!!!? Yipeeee what are your plans for the holidays? Hope lots of relaxing is on the cards. I can?t remember if you said that you were a secondary teacher before? I wish I hadn?t told anyone when we were going to start ttc as I do feel under pressure now having told lots of people- I am such an idiot, but I?m just a crap liar!

florin so sorry about your ERTD after all of those promising symptoms Hope the BBQ with your parents went well and glad you enjoyed some wine. It must be so frustrating to hear your friend say things about regretting her DD when you are so wanted to get pregnant. You are almost at the SWI stage now so hopefully you are getting in some PSFs in preparation and gearing up for a SWIathon superpenguin stylee. We are almost cycle buddies so we can keep each other calm during the 2ww.

Good luck Tomboy in your SWI? ing. Did you get the chance to make a doctors appointment at all? I am sure that there will be nothing wrong but it will just help to put your mind at rest and help you to feel like you are doing something, which I think is half of the battle.

zips, glad you had a lovely holiday. It sounds divine I know that you don?t want to get your hopes up but your symptoms are sounding good. I so have everything crossed for you XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX- there are all of my fingers and toes crossed for you. You have great willpower to resist your free tests- you go girl! How is your sickness at the min by the way?

Sorry ERTD got you too karstan it sounds like you are being very positive though so onwards and upwards with you lady! Good idea about the MIA list people too- I think we should definitely do that.

Hello highheels, I?ve not said hello yet- I would also recommend testing before your holiday too then IF it is a BFN, you can put it out of your mind (easier said than done, I know) I just know that if it was me and I didn?t test I would ruin my holiday thinking ?Am I, Aren?t I?? so it would be better for me to just know I think. Where are you off to? Sorry if I?ve missed it. Am also a waxer but only in a salon so can?t help there- definitely don?t ruin all of your hard work with leg hair growing though by shaving- It?d be better to keep the hairy legs I think

Also welcome to curiouselle I think we have all slowly got obsessed! How are you finding being off the pill? Has your body settled down well? My cycles took quite a while to get back to normal and I think this is quite common-It?s also common for your cycles to get straight back to normal so lets hope you are one of those people!

Hi to gardenpixie too Don?t worry about all of your ttc stuff. My DH also thinks I am crazy after finding my stash. I think the final straw was my copy of TCOYF and bottle of cough medicine that I had stashed away- whoopsie. He also knows I go on MN (although not the thread, thank god!) and teases me about my ?cyber friends? all the time- what a bunch of crazies we all are, but nice ones!

Histeg No SWI every other day here either, don?t worry! Your job sounds very demanding- did you say it was shift work? I?m a teacher and often asleep as soon as my head hits the pillow too.

and our last newbie waterloo- Hello!!!

Hope you're having lovely holidays bella and womanly you both really deserve them. The lay on the plane back from USA had an Ipad Bella and I was v.jealous!

How are you cherry? Are you about? I can't remember if you were one of our holidayers as well?

saorand ifat big waves if you?re lurking and lovely to see our grad popping back- I have the grads thread on my ?thread I?m watching? so do lurk and check up on you all xx

So, update from me. Not much going on- Arrived at my parents today where I?ll stay for a week. Dh will be here with me until Tuesday and then he is going back up to his parents where I?ll join him a week tomorrow for a wedding we have. I plan to spend the week sleeping, eating and catching up with my school friends who still live where I grew up and went to school. So lovely to see my parents as have not seen them since Christmas. They also have our two cats who we had to leave behind when we moved to HK so it is lovely to have a snuggle with them too!

Think am all caught up now- phew

Happy Friday all xxx

felicityFlick · 23/07/2010 22:09

X post steg sorry about ertd xx

evilgiraffe · 23/07/2010 23:38

Halo - fantastic news! Congratulations!

stegasaurus · 24/07/2010 00:34

The arrival of ERTD was not helped by my MIL constantly asking when we are having a baby and making references to it. She literally mentioned it about 5 times in 2hrs today. We have just bought our first house and are moving in tomorrow. Everyone seems to think this automatically means we should now be having a baby. I wish I knew how to answer when people keep asking when this is going to happen.

MrsWajs · 24/07/2010 00:55

Steg Just tell them to mind their own bloody business!!

Gonna try and read and catch up with everyone since it's quiet tonight.x

Right, done it!! It's getting more difficult now with more bodies!! Not that I'm complaining of course

Flick Lovely to hear from you again, you sound like you're having a fab holiday so far! Are you excited for the all important CD6?? You have totally rumbled my 'casual' approach! Once the info is in your head there's just no getting it out - I just can't switch off the little voice in my head that chants, between CD 15 and 20, "if you don't do it today you might miss your chance"!! Even on holiday I couldn't just go with the flow!

However needs must!
I finish nights on Thursday morning and am back in the land of the living - 6 days off and then back onto day shift, am a bit hacked off cus I have no weekends off (after next weekend) until the beginning of September

Steg Also should have said earlier - hurrah for non-drug-induced ERTD!!

Halo I am totally not at your BFP, you are one of the most deserving of it. Not that anyone else on here isn't at all but you have had a difficult time recently so am really chuffed for you!

Kkas Baby dreams are so freaky!! I had a really bizarre one a while ago where I was actually in labour!! I felt like I was really going through the motions, although obviously I don't really know what the motions are, but anyway it felt very real to me! My mum was there and everything and I also had a girl. A girl that changed into a boy and then back to a girl again, a few times, throughout the course of the dream . . . [sceptical] Anyway, wahey for hotel sex - you can't beat it - enjoy

HighHeels&Equations Alas I also cannot help with leg waxing advice - I am a fairweather leg shaver (perhaps shouldn't admit to these things but what the hell) It's not that I mind leg waxing, although I am definately adverse to bikini and under arm waxing (muchos painful), I can just never be bothered to make appointments and spend the money when a razor does the job fine when I can be arsed
I can definitely recommend not using veet or the like though, they are evil and stingy!
I also think you should patent your idea for long time TTC-ers preg tests though, would be so much nicer!

Karstan I gave up trying to plan a good time for a baby ages ago! Now any baby at any time of year will do for me! For a while I was convinced I would conceive around March/April time so I would have a January baby as it is the only month I'm not allowed to have one (too many birthdays already) but sod and his law didn't curse me so here I am still bloody waiting!! Although I'm glad anyway as I'm a January baby myself and like you say - it's not a big enough gap between birthday and Christmas - I can definitely vouch for that!!

Zippys How did I neglect to notice you are on CD36! How are you feeling? Could we have another BFP before July is out? Keeping my fingers crossed for you lovely
I hear you on the non-testing though, I've given up on it after the stupid long cycle in March/April, 6 BFNs and no ERTD is a bit too much to take. (sorry Evil no disrespect meant towards you there as I know you are still very patiently waiting for your ERTD to return)
To answer your earlier question re: GP visit, I was going to go before ERTD arrived this month, just to see what the plan would be if it did come but figured they'd just send me away again until it did, so instead I plan to go the day it arrives if possible!? My friend who has also been trying for just over a year has been already and they told her to go back on the first day of her period for tests although I always thought the ones they did were on day 3 and 21 etc?? Anyone got any ideas on this? Unfortunately for her, her period keeps landing on a Saturday so she hasn't been yet to have them done and now as her wedding is in June next year, I think the TTC plan might be going on hold for a year it's a shame.

TomBoyWife I must have missed your post earlier about the no drinking thing. Is this government advice for when TTC??? If so it's completely ridiculous!!

Aries Hope you're ok and your little nephew is doing well.

And hello to everyone else I've missed - cavemum, lanky, gardenpixie, florin, alien, evil, cherry, IfAt, Kaloki and Womanly

Oh and waterloo we'll need your stats to stick you on the list.

Ariesgirl · 24/07/2010 09:00

Nephew is doing ok thanks for asking everyone. He's still in the SCBU but is now off his ventilator and they got to hold him yesterday - for the first time at a week old . But sorry, Flick we're working 14 hour days and therefore there's no shagging to be had! Should all calm down over the next couple of days hopefully.

Steg tell them it's none of their bloody business and haven't they got anything better to think about that the promulgation of their genes It makes me so cross on others' behalf when I hear of crap like that and makes me very grateful for my own sometimes awful and barmy in-laws who at least don't ask that. After 8 years of marriage they've probably given up mind.

OP posts:
highheelsandequations · 24/07/2010 10:57

Morning everyone, once again the sun is trying to shine so I am almost smiling

LankyLegs I am too embarrassed to get my bikini wax done in the salon. My legs frequently look like a gorillas though (sorry if TMI ) so I have invested in many pairs of tights! I also like your idea of a 'final party month' although it is hard to switch the little voices in your head off.

gardenpixie hope you enjoyed the wine!

Steg sorry about ERTD but sounds like good news that your body's behaving itself? My family are the ones that are always asking about babies and/or weddings. Have always responded to the baby question with response that we either don't want kids yet or at all, it seems easier than admitting we would love one but it is not happening, but it starts getting very a bit painful after the millionth time. I have a colleague that repeatedly questioned me recently about why we needed such a big house when we didn't have any children, ended up walking off. I've recently started thinking about telling my mum what's been going on but I don't know if I could handle the constant questions.

Flick hello and thanks for the advice. Have a test tucked up in the drawer waiting for Monday or Tuesday morning, although to be honest I'll probably cave on Monday by telling myself I'll need to know before packing! We're not going anywhere exotic, Edinburgh then the lake district I think (not booked it all yet) but it will be a nice break and have a very posh hotel booked for Edinburgh! Glad to hear you've broken up, I am also a teacher but north of the border so we're halfway through the hols already

MrsWajs glad to hear the night shifts are coming to an end but that sucks about the weekends. I actually epilate my underarms now, was agony a little painful at first but just a little nippy now, quicker than shaving and means I only have to check for regrowth once or twice a week. If I shave I need to shave twice a day to get smoothness (sorry think I might be in an oversharing mood this morning!) probably due to the PCOS I think. Maybe I'll send my test ideas to clearblue, they could make a variety so you could pick the most appealing message. Can't really help about test timing. I've had my hormone levels checked a few times and they never bothered which day of my cycle I was on. Day 21 tests are to check progesterone levels and see if you are ovulating although these should only be on day 21 for a 28 day cycle with ov around CD14 as progesterone should be checked 7 days after ov (I need to get CD23 tests). I'd be tempted to just book the appointment and go chat, they can give you all the information then.

Karstan I'm forever checking dates and thinking when would be the best time to concieve but to be honest I'd be happy whenever it happens.

Aries glad to hear your nephew is doing okay but 14 hour days ouch.

Zippys I've still got fingers and toes crossed for you and I've resolved to get over my POAS addiction next month.

Hello to everyone else, it's quite hard to get my head around who's who still and keep up with the news. Very sorry if I've rudely ignored anyone.

I'm feeling sick this morning and trying to convince myself it's a sign, rather than a result of eating my body weight in sushi and thai take out last night. You'd think that after 12 cycles I'd learn but it seems that every month I convince myself that every little thing is a sign [sigh].

pinklady76 · 24/07/2010 14:14

Hi Everyone! I'm a new first time folicker and am a friend of Cavemum. She told me about this lovely bunch of women all supporting each other through the highs and lows of TTC! My first acronym hope I got it right! Well I'm only just off the pill and so this is my first cycle and am on day 19. Have been doing plenty of SWI and had to go to the doctors cos I was having stomach cramps but she said it was quite normal for someone who has been on the pill as long as I had. So I felt a bit better. Hope to do lots more chatting soon if any other info is needed just tell me!

CaveMum · 24/07/2010 17:01

Whoop whoop! She's here! Yay!

Nice to see you here! Everyone is lovely and I'm sure we'll have much fun.

Not much to report in my world, I've been cramping for about a week but no sign of ERTD. I'm on about day 28 and last cycle was 36 days, all SWI has been with protection this month so don't a gone go getting any ideas .

A new car is in the cards - same as yours Pinklady . I've been toying with the idea for a while and think I've found a good deal through one of the car supermarkets. I've got to wait for it to be brought to a showroom in my part of the world and that will take a week or two, but hopefully it will work out.

Felicity nice to hear from you, glad your travels are going well and fingers crossed for you when TTC kicks in.

Aries ouch also for the 14hr days. Glad to hear your nephew is getting better.

Sorry for not posting direct to everyone else, needless to say you are all in my thoughts.

[waves]

alien06 · 24/07/2010 17:33

hey Felicity - I am a primary school teacher, don't think I could cope with secondary! lol
No one knows that we are TTC which makes it hard when worried about it! hopefully things will work out for the better though, I bought one of the ovulation kits but to be honest have no idea why I bothered as my cycles have not even got regular yet, i had my Mirena out 16th June and had one, so going to wait to see if next one comes and creates the beginning of a proper cycle :0)

cherrycobbler · 24/07/2010 18:25

hello all - been in no-internet hinterland (I KNOW - very vexing - can't really access m/net at work and don't want to use DH's iphone for it) - back connected today and thought I'd have a quick read and post properly tomorrow/ Mon but couldn't read thelovelyflo's news and run! MASSIVE congrats halo, I have everything crossed for your for a smooth ride this time and a brilliantly uneventful nine months. I am very, very glad you were our long overdue BFP.

Nothing exciting here - off to go for posh dinner for family birthday and enjoy some guilty champagne and yummy wine in my 2ww.

Love to all - I have missed you! xxx

alien06 · 24/07/2010 18:45

ps Felicity I don't have much planned, but am off on holiday to Dubai this coming Friday then mostly just chilling and visiting family . you?

raspberrytipple · 24/07/2010 19:08

hello all,
Can I just ask as a relative newbie and still trying to find my way through the threads and acroynms - who/what is agnus cactus? I am still trying to get to know my cycle, been off the pill for four weeks and am on CD13, ttc number 1 and have seen Agnus mentioned a few times.

mumnerves · 24/07/2010 20:48

Hi lovely ladies!!! waves

Hope most of you are doing well and keeping my fingers crossed for more BFPs!!!

haloflo!!!! CONGRATULATIONS

I know it's silly and completely unrelated but am feeling a bit smug that it's those freebie tests that showed your BFP
Come join in when you're ready (of course everyone else is welcome too!)

Big welcome to any newbies I've not said hello too, we're a lovely bunch and I hope you feel just at home as the rest of us have.

So pleased to see the list get smaller and smaller, can't be much longer for the rest of you! Have a lovely weekend all!
