For anyone old and new trying to conceive their first child. Lovely friendly ladies with a penchant for acronyms, charts and unsuitable snacks await your arrival with open arms. Here's the blatantly copied and pasted List from the last thread. If anything's wrong, I absolve myself of any responsibility!

Bella I do nights every 3 months roughly. Do 15 in a month so have 8 this week then 6 days off and then another 7 nights after that! It's not too bad and the money is good but it kills your sex social life!!

It's raining here so am not missing too much although T in the Park is on the tv just now and I'm sick that I'm not there!!

Bellaby · 10/07/2010 15:59

I admire you for being able to do that. I seem to have no sex social life just doing normal hours

I'm still shut away - think DH has forgotten me

CaveMum · 10/07/2010 16:03

Afternoon all.

Just arrived back home and apart from feeling very tired I'm doing well!

karstan welcome to The Frolickers - probably the best thread on the board!

Hermya321 · 10/07/2010 18:41

Karstan Welcome to the thread!! It is an uber lucky place to be. In fact if we were a larger we'd be Carlsberg. I hope you get your BFP soon. I do know what you mean about feeling strange not using contraception. I felt so odd when I came off of the pill.

Hello Flick!!

Aries Hahahahahahahaha!! That sounds like something I'd do.

haloflo · 10/07/2010 20:19

karstan welcome welcome! Ask any questions you wish, there's a lot to take in at first.

mrsw Thanks for the T in the Park heads up - I've just turned my tv to see the rather nice Kelly from the Stereophonics!

Karstan · 10/07/2010 23:00

Weather's finally cooled down enough that getting into bed seems like an option now

Going to have to look at getting some folic acid I think, do people just take that or do take a pregnancy/pre-conception multivitamin which includes it.

CaveMum · 10/07/2010 23:18

karstan personaly I take the Pregnacare Conception tablets, which contain the recommended amount of folic acid as well as other helpful vitamins and minerals. You can never start taking folic acid too early and my dr encouraged me to start taking it straight away (in May) even though we don't plan to ttc till November.
Be warned though, the Pregnacare pills will turn your pee bright yellow!

haloflo · 11/07/2010 08:31

karstan I just take folic acid as I don't like the idea of lots of supplements but I think it's a personal choice. Folic acid can just be bought from boots but I think people have found Pregacare to be cheaper online.

Bare in mind if you are TTC for a while (hopefully not - many graduate on the first month) you will need a big box!

You should try and take it asap like cavemum said and you need enough to take you through to 12 weeks pregnant.

kkas Any ERTD yet? I really hope not. Didn't you say something about POAS today?

Karstan · 11/07/2010 11:55

Finally manged to read the thread and get a bit of background.

Lankylegs: did your doctor say you had to do anything extra when you first got pregnant re the hypothyroidism? I'm hypothyroid, have been for about 5 years, again not really any typical symptoms. It was only after I was diagnosed that I was attributing some symptoms to other things, e.g. really dry hair because I was swimming a lot.

Anyway, I digress, my sister who lives abroad was told she had to go to the doctor asap to check thyroid levels when she got pregnant and seemed to be having blood tests and adjustments each week. My doctor didn't mention anything or suggest there was any urgency in getting to the doctors if i got a bfp.

I know that hypothyroidism can affect conception, it's part of the reason I'm starting now. Had polyps removed end of May and I've also got a fibroid and the consultant said long term hysterectomy might be the solution .

Looking for positives, my older sister was told she might have trouble conceiving as she's also hypothyroid so she might want to try sooner rather than later. It took one attempt!

evilgiraffe · 11/07/2010 12:45

Hi all, and welcome to all our new recruits! I'm just reporting in - still nothing happening, but I have decided to try and organise an appointment with the doctor for the end of July - I have a day's holiday on the 30th anyway so I may as well try to sort it for then. That should bring me right up to the six month mark, and I'm not wasting any time once I've got there!

Fingers crossed for everyone on the 2WW

Karstan · 11/07/2010 14:47

Folic acid bought. 90 day supply for 1.20 so won't break the bank if i'm trying for a while

IfAtFirstUDontSucceed · 11/07/2010 15:38

Good Afternoon ladies.

I've been spying on your thread for a little while now, but have been too shy to join

A little backround, DH & I have been TTC#1 forever for 3 years!
Visited docs beginning of this year, had blood test done (thyroid & 21 day progesterone) both OK, DH had his test, that was fine too!

Were referred to a fertility specialist in Feb who lined up a few more test for me, then suggested IVF at the end of the year. Found out I was PG the day after seeing fertlity specialist - he must have been some sort of miracle man .
Had an early MC a few weeks later
Doc then said that there was no need for the test as we can obviously can concieve naturally (WHAT - ONCE IN 3 YEARS?!?!?) and said not to go back for a year!!

That was 4 months ago, and still no joy, so am taking myself back to the docs next month and standing up for myself!!
Rant over!

Kaloki · 11/07/2010 16:31

Hi to the new people! Hope your stay here is short and sweet

I still haven't been to the GP's, and will be staying at the MIL's Mon-Wed as DP's disability tribunal is over near hers (wish us luck, this time next week we will either be intensely relieved or we will have been reduced to no income at all)

So can't see the GP till at least Wed. By which time I will be CD30 and will have had cramps and tender boobs for 16 days continuously!

And if ERTD turns up and the cramps don't stop then I will be in an incredibly foul mood.

kkas · 11/07/2010 17:22

hi and welcome to the newbies

just checking in. had a tiny bit of spotting on friday but pretty much nothing yesterday or today. i did POAS this morning, but it was BFN. had a little cry in the bathroom but didn't bother saying anything to DH. i think he knew anyway from the way i was moping around this morning. temp has now dropped below the cover line too. this is the longest LP i've ever had though (13 DPO) usually it's only 10-11, with 12 being the longest so far. i expect ERTD will hit properly tomorrow with the cramps.

but hopefully i'll hear something on the job front this week so that is something to look forward to, i guess.

Just updating as I seem to have lost a few days - not sure how as I did the list on Saturday!!

CaveMum · 11/07/2010 17:49

Afternoon all, and another big welcome to IfAtFirstUDontSucceed, though you may find yourself being reffered to as IAFUDS! Sorry to hear about your miscarriage. Fingers crossed you won't be with us for long - in the nicest possible way of course!

A quiet day for DH and I today as we're still recovering from Friday night! DH made it to bed at 4.30am but had a 2.5 hour "nap" yesterday evening to make up for it!

BiL is off to Afghanistan in 10 days, but thankfully as a contractor and not with the Marines. He had a tough time of it when he was out there 2 years ago so keeping my fingers crossed that he has an uneventful 8 weeks.

I really don't know where DH and I stand over his posting at the moment. He has now told me that they are looking at an "in command" posting for him which means he would stay in the country, though perhaps be a bit further away than he is at the moment.

Of course this is great news, but I'd psyched myself up so much, assuming that he is definitely going away, that I now feel utterly confused!
Either way, we will know for sure in the next 2 weeks.

Have a lovely evening everyone.

CaveMum · 11/07/2010 17:50

Also meant to say sorry to kkas about your BFN (((hugs)))

womanlytales · 11/07/2010 20:32

A big welcome to those who've recently joined this list. Hope you are very soon on your way to our graduates thread
Sorry about your bfn kkas - I know how it feels - hope you have a quick bounce back and wish this next cycle is the one.
cavemum Don't be hard on yourself - it seems like the situation is pretty fluid and so it's natural that you'll feel yourself not knowing what to feel given the pace of change.
Wave to halo and mrswajs and good luck to all those poas.
My wkend was nice - did the race for life, it was fun - want to commit to doing it more and perhaps even training for a half marathon.. Today we did some shopping for our holiday..so three more days and we're on our way.

Karstan · 11/07/2010 21:18

Hmm, do I just play a waiting game now or hedge my bets in case my dates aren't quite right? Decisions, decisions...

Bellaby · 11/07/2010 21:31

Well done one the race womanly

Bellaby · 11/07/2010 21:35

Hi Loves,

Had a few spare minutes whilst waiting for a load of washing to be done (rock and roll on me hols!) and thought I'd update the list for you. I have moved chalky back to 'not counting days' as unfortunately things have not worked out for her this time chalky, if you're lurking, I wasn't sure where to put you so have put you in the 'not counting days section', if you want to be back somewhere else, or even not at all, just let us know- just wanted you to feel welcome back here if you wanted to try again xxxx

Hope all goes well with the disability hearing Kaloki and that you get some answers to your mysterious cramping soon. Keeping fingers crosse for successful outcomes on both parts.

Sorry about your bfn kkas- keeping fingers crossed on job front for you my lovely xxx

Glad you 've had your tests lanky and zips am very hopeful for your both xxx

Welcome to karstan and Ifat- You'll love it here Sorry to hear about what you've had to go through ifat, give those doctors a stern talking to!

Congrats on race for life womanly!! Did you run the whole way round? Hope you have a lovely holiday and get a chance for the well deserved rest that you deserve, special hugs coming your way xxx

Glad you've checked in again evil- am always wondering what you and missKurlyVoice are up to. Glad your doctors date is not too far away now and you never know ertd may still pay a visit before then.

Not long now until your hols now bells! So excited for you. What kind of books do you like? Do you like chick lit trash or something a bit more high brow? I can recommend loads of chick lit trash if you like that kind of thing but not a lot else ;) Have you read the Steig Larsson trilogy? both DH and I enjoyed these.

Was your race today too flo? I missed you when you were AWOL but have only had chance to lurk so could not find out where you were!

Sorry for AF mrsW- I think a relaxed and chilled SWI month could be just what the doctor ordered, although you probably know better than me, being a nurse and all ;)

Hi to hardworkingsummerAries hope all is well with you xx

HI HERMYA!! Glad you're doing well and that your little boy is now his own separate entity wow- what a great feeling that must be! We would so be Carlsberg if we were a larger ;)

Love to all, especially cave- really feel for you as have had a couple of emails from best friend who's DH is in Afghan whilst I've been away and she is really struggling as he has been home for mid-tour break and is now off again 'til Oct and she is finding it tough at the min.

Sorry, If I have missed you-only meant this to be a quicky whilst I adjusted the list!

AS for me, no ERTD still and am leaving the USA on Thursday to come back to my beloved England where I will still have three more weeks of seeing friends and family before I go back to work in the smog ridden Hong Kong I so can't wait to come back and live in England, leaving it for a while really makes me appreciate all that is good about it which is a really nice feeling. There are so many things that I took for granted that when I move back I will really appreciate

zippys · 12/07/2010 08:25

Bella hope your were finally allowed aout of the computer room . Books wise I have just bought an ereader for my hols, its amazing. I would usually take about 8 for a week, so it means I can take more shoes now! I personally like a mix for hols, got a couple of trshy like Sophie Kinsella's new one and then less trshy ones. What other books do you like? If I dont post before your hols, have an amazing time and make sure you relax.

Kaloki good luck over the next few days, I will be thinking of you hon x. I also hope your cramps get better and you can get a doctors appointment for later in the week.

LankLegs your porn star cocktails sound amazing! When do you go back for all your results?

Cavemum your ball sounds lovely, I love getting all dressed up in full length gowns. I can understand why you feel mixed up about the news about your DH posting. I can imagine its hard and then when you get your head round it its weird for it to change.

Womanyly well done for doing race for life and for your dieting. When I come back from my hols I am on a serious diet (hmm it seems to have fallen by the wayside this last week or so!) so we can spur each other on .

Cherry I hope you enjoyed some PSF and sitting out in your garden. We have a garden for the first year too and I love it.

Almost sorry to hear about ERTD, if you want to go on not counting days or just want to post every now and again we are here.

Karsten hello and welcome. Lets hop your stay here is short

KKas hope you are feeling a little better today after BFN. Keeping my fingers crossed for you job wise.

Evilgiraffe at least the 6 month mark is not too far away now. I know a few people who have received drugs to kickstart cycle and got a BFP straight away so I am keeping everything crossed for you. JUst make sure you do as you say and dont get fobbed off!

IfAtFirst hello and welcome. You sound like you have had a rough time. I agree I think you should go back and get a second opinion.

Flick you too will be joining the sad group but hey you have good company . Travelling obviously has upset your cycle. I hope you are enjoying your hols.

Hello to everyone I may have missed.

Right well, mission SWI went well over the weekend. Its weird I feel alot more relaxed this month and we have SWI much more . Had what I think were OV pain on Saturday while shopping and we SWI on Friday, Sat and Sunday so you never know .

Had a busy weekend packing for hols, v excitied as we go tomorrow, so last day at work today. However I am feeling so so sick this morning, puked 3 times already and sat at my desk feeling so poorly. I thiught my sickness had got a lot better but no, and its now been going on for 8 months!!!

Right off to do some work now, I will be checking on you all from my phone but may not be able to post.

LankyLegs · 12/07/2010 09:25

Buenos dias chicas,

How are we all. Hope good weekends were had....

Firstly - welcome to Karston and Ifatfirst hope this is a lucky thread for you both. And Ifatfirst sorry to hear about the nightmare you have had already. Hope you manage to whip your GP into shape girl! Stern words should be had!

Karstan the hypo is all very new to me - only been on the levothyroxine for 3-4 weeks so not sure it is the right dose etc - have a blood test in 3 weeks to check levels. The GP said it may or may not be the reason for not getting pregnant yet - all my other reproductive hormones were ok indicating that I was ovulating etc. It sounds like you have had it quite - have you been recently to the GP to get your levels checked out? Apparently if you get pregnant you will need to potentially have your thyroxine dose increased as the baby will need more - so they regularly check your levels during pregnancy.

Bella hope everything was resolved with Mil! Books for hols - well the millennium trilogy is VERY readable, so is Angels Game by Carlos Luis Zafron (they are my recent reads) other ones I have read recently are Wolf Hall (although quite intense), White Tiger. Will have another look at bookshelf for you. Are you get like getting bloody excited like?!

Cavemum the ball sounds brilliant -hope you have recovered! I am so sorry you are in limbo about your DH and his posting - must be so worrying and frustrating for you - I hope you both get some definitive decisions soon - so at least you can put a plan into action.

Halo how have you been? I know what you mean - I have had NO symptoms at all - normally I have really sore boobs post ovulation but this month nothing Hope you are OK and had a lovely weekend.

Evil goodness - am pleased that you are sorting out a GP visit - 6 months is a long time. It might happen all very quickly after that!

Kkas - truly sorry about BFN and I totally empathise with you. Although the spotting did sound promising. My LP is normally 10-12 days and have been taking 100mg of vit B6 for the last few months in efforts to increase it and has added on the extra day. The positive thing is that a longer LP is better for implantation so you should look at that being positive. I got myself very worked up about LP defect a few months ago and read way too much into it. I hope ERTD doesn't arrive and if it does massive hugs to you (sorry I am feeling really soppy as i think my ERTD is arriving imminently too!)

Womanly well done on your race for life! I hope you are feeling a bit cherpier after the weekend! And good on you for thinking about the half marathon! You should try a 10K for some warm up races too. How exciting about your hols as well - not long now! Where are you going?

Flick! How is the trip? Sorry all that travelling is paying havoc with your cycle - what a pain in the behind - I know you must be itching to get the fertility monitor going. I bet you cant wait to head back over here hey? Must be nice coming back to see everyone.

Kaloki good luck for DP's tribunal - I really hope it goes well and I am truly hoping all the things you are reporting are good signs for you.

Zippys have I missed something - why are you feeling so sick? Hmmm. Anyway - hope you have a good last day at work and a wonderful holiday!!! And well done for getting in lots of SWI-ing! Lets hope that all these tests are not needed and you get a BFP this month I get my results back tomorrow - both DH and I are seeing the GP together to get his SA and my scan results in more detail.

I am feeling quite shit today - temp dropped (not below cover line but enough to warrant bitching ERTD!) I have had no symptoms this month so not surprised but its just like a kick in the gut every month that goes past. Anyway it doesn't help having spent all of Saturday with a load of babies and pregnant women at my nieces third birthday party. And to top it all if sisters bump is totally showing now (her second baby is 8 months and she is already 3 months pregnant!) Obviously totally happy for her. But she totally just rubs her yummy mummy life (yuck) in my face sometimes and she can be really quite insensitive. Sorry - enough ranting from me! God I sounds like a bitch don't I?!

On a good note - I drank copious amounts this weekend (fab) and our offer got accepted on Friday for the house - but not getting too excited as we need to find a buyer for our flat! And I had a great morning shag with lovely DH this morning. So life isn't too bad I guess!!

Good morning all on this slightly cooler Monday.

Thanks to felicity, zippys and lanky for your kind words. It is a complete and utter PITA trying to get my head round all the Forces stuff, so I have decided I'm going to stop stressing thinking about it until we know what the heck is going on.

Yes the Ball was fabulous and we had a fantastic time. They had a silhouettist wandering around doing portraits of people (for free!) so DH and I had one each done.
I'd never heard of it before but the results are amazing and DH and I are so pleased we are going to get ours framed!
You can see more on the lady that did them here

If I were throwing a big party I'd definitely consider hiring her!

Right, work to do so must dash
