Splash - I have been trying to get rid of a Persona for ages! I had thought that a £15 donation/subscription to Mumsnet would be ideal but would also be happy to give it away! I don't need it anymore and would like someone who does to make use of it. Contact me today if poss (will check again before I leave work) if you want it, or w/c 28 July as I am on hols until then from tonight and can only email/internet at work at the moment.

quackers · 18/07/2003 10:03

Hi Luchar! You're still around! Hope Splash takes u upon your offer!!

karen01 · 18/07/2003 11:53

Hi All

I am excited today as having the coil removed this afternoon. I am getting married 4 weeks tommorrow so we decided lets try straight away. I already have a 6 year old daughter and fell pregnant with her within three weeks of coming of the pill (for a three month break). (BEST ACCIDENT I EVER HAD)Nightmare pregnancy though SPROM and placenta insufficiency!! Hopefully things will work quickly this time also (and hopefully trouble free.)

Fingers crossed. Good luck to all of you xx :0

Tillysmummy · 18/07/2003 12:41

How are you all doing ?

luchar · 18/07/2003 16:53

Congratulations quackers!! - am really pleased for you. Although I now have two boys it wasn't easy getting them so I do feel for anyone who is ttc and am thrilled when it works!!

Splash - am off work for a week now but email me if you like and I'll get back to you.

Good luck everyone!

quackers · 18/07/2003 17:00

Hi All - Haven't been on the ttc thread for a while as DP has been away abroad so no chance at the moment.

Just catching up on what's happening to who!! Congrats to those lucky ones and fingers crossed for those still trying

Is anyone on this thread over 40 and if so have you been trying for a long time?? Sorry I'm just curious!!!

Jane101 · 19/07/2003 15:40

dot1 - sorry to hear your're feeling so down. I'm pretty fed up with it all now too. We've been ttc since Jan. 2002 and been having fertility treatment since Oct. 2002.

The next thing is a scan next Thursday, to see if we're having another go this month.

caydeb · 20/07/2003 04:39

just doing my weekly check in to see how everyone is doing looks like this is a lucky thread with quackers and tilly both getting positive tests.well still trying with the persona and got my little ovulation sign today day 18 in my cycle which I think is better than it has been as my cycles have been 38 days for the past 4 months.I feel more in control of things with persona am trying emping as well but that seems to be all over the place.

dot1 · 21/07/2003 08:55

Good luck with the scan Jane - I've been trying on and off (with more offs than ons!) since March 2002. It's such a long time isn't it..? A friend of mine said the other day it'd be really weird if I got pregnant - we're so used to it being a bit of an 'exercise' that everyone would be in shock if it actually worked....!

So, I'm on day 27 today, and my cycles are usually between 27 - 31 days, so a few more days and I'll know. Have had incredibly sore boobs, but sometimes get that anyway. As I tested last week and it was negative, I'm trying not to test again at least until the weekend - which should be past when my period's due anyway. My temperature's still high, but would be anyway if my cycle's going to be 31 days this month.

Not that I'm obsessing or anything...

Still, the good news is that I've worked out roughly when I'm next due to ovulate and it (hopefully) falls on a weekend and our donor's free! So at least I'll get another go straight away.

quackers · 21/07/2003 08:55

Jemma7!!!!!! Come on!!! HAPPY BIRTHDAY for yesterday!!! Hope you had a lovely day with your family!!!
Have you and your DH any news for us?
xxxxx

BigBird · 21/07/2003 09:22

no good news from me either. AF arrived yesterday. Was fairly down but ok now.
Splash and hd, we are all fairly close in our cycles...so better luck next month, eh ?

One thing I found handy though was I had started temping this month and my temp took a distinct drop on Saturday morning so I knew that meant I wasn't pregnant (cos if you are the raise in temp is sustained). So I knew about a day and a half before it happened. Saves on all those 'am I or aren't I ?' moments and testing!!

Cornflower · 21/07/2003 10:34

Hi everyone
Saw my consultant yesterday, good news, cyst is still the same size(ish) now 6cm so they are not going to operate, follow-up in 6 months. Bad news says because periods are still irregular since m/c am probably not ovulating again yet, is why am not getting pregnant. Has anybody else heard of this? Have to wait until I am ovualting on other side or cyst goes. If still irregular, not pregnant and cyst still there in 6 motnsh will start me on therapy to start me ovulating. Not sure about it all really. Was extremetly frustrating every month trying and not being pregnant but at least I was hopeful. Now he tells me am probably not ovulating and maybe it won't happen anyway. How long did it take other people's periods to settle after m/c?

hewlettsdaughter · 21/07/2003 21:13

Sibble, that's interesting (but also a little depressing!) that an m/c might mean you don't ovulate for a while. I had 2 early m/cs. The second happened only a couple of months after the first, so things obviously went back to normal pretty quickly that time. Not so sure if that's going to be the case this time (just had a 31 day cycle, which is v. unusual for me). Have started using Persona, so hopefully this will help with detecting ovulation.
Glad you don't have to have an op!

niknik · 22/07/2003 08:34

Hi everyone
I've been reading your messages for the last couple of weeks and wondered if you would mind me joining your thread. I have been ttc since April 02 and using Persona since October 02.
I had a miscarrage at 7 weeks in Feb but knew it wasn't right as was really ill the whole time and even ended up in hospital with severe abdo pain.
I have my first appointment in the fertility clinic on Aug 4th day before my 31st birthday, so fingers crossed he wont give me any bad news. I've had my blood levels checked for day 5 and DH has had his sperm test but I'm not sure that his looks very good - (20 million per ml). Does any one know if this seems OK?

Jemma7 · 22/07/2003 09:37

Hi everyone, I'm back!
Feel absolutely awful today - think i've gotthe flu - had all of about half an hours sleep last night and was getting very wound up with myself - needless to say, absolutely shattered now so just trying to soldier through at work.

Anyway, i tested on Sunday evenign with one of the internet test - Acon i think - Came up big fat negative.

However, still no sign of af - did someone else mention not too long back that the internet tests aren't very good?

splash · 22/07/2003 09:43

hi jemma, been waiting to hear from you. there is stillhope though, buy a boots test. i hate all the am i? aren't i? lucky for me i was stopped in my tracks on friday and it ws a short month not one that kept dragging on. i can imagine how you felt on sunday. how long was your last cycle?
hi to nik nik and everyone else.

quackers · 22/07/2003 10:54

Oh Jemma7, bad news! However, Tillysmummy has defo proved these are not the best, so why don't you try a clearblue/first resp/boots?? No sign of AF either. Any symptoms??
Sibble, despite conceiving, my periods after m/c have been VERY irregular. I was using Persona so knew that they were funny. Started at 32 days and then 29, 26 and then it would have been 24 but I got pg. Very irregular and I was always so clockwork 28 days.
Is it worth asking for Clomid, like Bunny2. maybe she can shed some light on how long you have to wait to have it? Is it poss to have an earlier appointment with a consultant, or if you were impatient even go private.
Take carexxx
Hi HD, how's it going on Persona??

dot1 · 22/07/2003 15:59

Bayleaf - sorry you're sounding a bit down aswell...

Meanwhile I'm on day 28 and temperature's still high so I'm still obsessing!

I've got some Acon tests, but I don't think they're as sensitive as Boots/other ones, and the really sad thing is that money's so tight I can't afford to go out and buy a Boots test!! This is probably good, as I'm probably not and it'd be a waste of money anyway - just have to wait and see. Pay day is in a week's time, so I'll know by then anyway!

Much luck to all on this thread..!

BigBird · 22/07/2003 17:01

good luck dot1. At least the temp is still high and you can kind-of use that as an indicator instead of the tests.

bayleaf · 22/07/2003 20:29

HD - don't get down about not ov - it's far from automatic - I certainly think I ov'd after early miscarriages - both times I was pregnant again within 3 months ( oh for the days when dh's sperm swam!!)
