A new thread! This is for anyone who is trying to conceive their first child - anyone welcome!

The current stats list is shown below, UCL means usual cycle length, and CD is cycle day.

In theory the person who starts the thread gets a BFP before the end, but I'll just be happy to get AF turn up again!

haloflo · 30/04/2010 15:36

Congratulations Homebound!!!!!!!! If When I get my BFP I'm defiantly getting a clear blue digital. It must be amazing to see it confirmed in writing. Did you have any symptoms.

My 2ww craziness continues. 3rd higher temp in a row today & FF says I possible went triphasic on CD19. In TCOYF she says she has only seen triphasic charts in pregnant charts, FF says 12% of pregnancy charts are triaphasic but 4% of unsuccessful charts are too. (Obsessive geek alert I know) I will have to wait and see & hope the high temps continue. I plan to wait to POAS until a week tomorrow if no AF by then. That would be CD 30 & I've never had a cycle that long.

Today I woke up at 7 (to temp), back to sleep until 8, then got up with DP as he's at work. As I'm off today I thought to myself that a lie down wouldn't hurt so I went back to bed at half 9. I fell straight back to sleep until 12! I haven't sleep that much since I was a student. Rationally I'm thinking I must have been not getting enough sleep recently and it was just a catch up. You all know what my inner crazy baby lady was thinking...

I'm now sort of awake and just tried something called red bush tea. It's like tea but naturally caffeine free. I'd never heard of it until yesterday but a friend recommended it after I said I wanted to cut down my caffeine intake (I'm still on 3 coffees & 1 tea a day) It has a strange smell and I wasn't sure at first but after drinking the whole cup I might be converted.

Mrswajs I hope it wasn't me that made you worry about hypothyroidism. I'm sure your temps are totally normal. In fact I think hot is good (provided you aren't running a fever) Do you use FF? Did you get even a dotted ov line or has temping not really worked for you for so far?

zippys thinking of you, hope these tests get you some answers and help you toward your BPF.

kaloki I didn't know you were engaged! You wedding plan sounds lovely . You dress sounds really nice too, I'm very impressed with your sowing skills. Do you make a lot of your own clothes? How you holding up today?

Welcome lankylegs and Aims80

Lankylegs During your last cycle did you get EWCM earlier in your cycle too? I think sometimes you get a second oestrogen surge during your luteal phase and it can cause fertile looking CM. It's not fertile though as you would have already ov'ed. That could maybe explain the CM you got 7 days before AF last month? I've read that if your luteal phase is 12- 16 its considered normal but a couple of days either side is ok too. Below 12 days can be a problem when TTC but not always.

Probably the best way of telling is to temp chart. Join up to Fertility Friend and you can read all about it there. Maybe try temping for a couple of months as your luteal phase might be longer than you think & if you still aren't pg try going back to your GP (or maybe another one more helpful one)

Kaloki · 30/04/2010 16:43

Yay homebound that's great !

I'm ok, still no AF, but I'm still holding off. Went to the doctors earlier about my back and my depression. He's going to read my notes and get back to me. DP has been turned down for help from the mental health team - and we know why. We got messed about by the Brighton mental health team. Nice huh?

We got engaged 3 months after meeting

I've started making more of my own clothes, when I have cash to spare for fabric anyway!

PinkiePoo · 30/04/2010 17:26

home amazing news honey.......we are all so pleased for you, and inside all really very Can only but imagine how excited you are!

Hope everyone is all set for a lovely weekend, even though the weather is meant to be the usual crappy British weather, always on a bank hols!!

one thanks honey....well, went to docs knowing full well, what i was going to hear and yep i heard it. He said that the stress i have put on myself is probably the reason for no AF and the reason why i have been getting headaches for past 5 days. I have to chill out for now.....er i am fooking trying Docs. I do think he is right though, i do stress out over the baby thing.....and lets face it i am not the only one fellow crazy baby ladies!!

He told me to do another test in case, so stupid me went and got a CB and got a BFN (oh hello again BFN!!) so guess its just a waiting game.

Never thought i would get like Cassandra from only fools, but i might join in the temping thing now....joined fertility friend, so will try and learn all about it, as ladies, this little pinkie is not the brightest spark!

my nipples are like bloody bullets at the moment too....hurt like hell....PLEASE GOD, LET THIS BE MY GOOD FRIEND AF.....now when i say 'good friend' i mean she can show up once more and then disappear again for at least ooh lets say 9 months....

Why do i feel like i am having a conversation with my laptop...what was that? i am? oh, thought so. not to self: must get out more.

CaveMum · 30/04/2010 17:42

I'm here pinkie! sorry your dr wasn't more helpful, but I guess they do say that stress doesn't help with ttc. Gonna be a problem for me then as I'm a total stresshead!

I found an iPhone app called Period Tracker if anyone else is in the market for something similar. It only cost £1.19 and it allows you to chart, input symptoms and after three months of inputting data will be able to tell you when you're next period is due. It's very discreet too - it appears on your phone with a picture of a flower and just says 'P Tracker'.

homebound · 30/04/2010 18:31

Thank you all for your warm wishes! To be honest im so not believing it yet, will get a few more tests tomorrow and just go to town with them and see them all in a row before i believe.

I felt really crappy all last week and have been getting car sick really easily (never actually throwing up) and for the last week or so relentless heartburn...oh the heartburn!! Last week I also had really annoying back pain, but things seem to be settled this week so this all may be a false alarm, but it also may be that im on holiday so have been able to get some extra sleep.

I really hope its true! (I should change my name to sceptical!) (been trying since last August)

Lots of love!

Ariesgirl · 30/04/2010 18:41

Aaah, well done homebound. You've brought some good news to my shitty day.

I'm having a mare today. And the stupid thing is I have no idea why. I feel like bursting into tears for no reason. Clearly hormones, though I don't normally get like this with hormones. Normally I'm very . I'm SO glum! I mentioned this to DH and he looked sympathetic for about 3 nanoseconds, said "Oh dear," and carried on talking about fucking engines. Sorry about the crudeness and general foul mouthedness and foul moodness.

Hello everyone else

CaveMum · 30/04/2010 19:37

Awww Aries, have some cake.

My day was going reasonably well till about half an hour ago when I got a call from DH to say he's STILL on the road and stuck in traffic on bludy M25! He left his base near Swindon at 3 o'friggin clock! At this rate he won't be home before 8.30pm

wannamummy · 30/04/2010 19:41

Evening all and hello to all the newbies!!!

Congratulations homebound, I'm so pleased for you!

I've been staying away from MN for a few days to try and clear my head. Still no AF and it's really getting me down. Like someone said in an earlier post (sorry, there are so many posts I can't remember who it was!)until AF arrives, we can't get on with TTC! AARGHHH !

To top it off, it's a year since my nanna passed away and my mum wants to scatter her ashes this weekend. Going to be a heavy one which I am not looking forward to. That, and I had really hoped I would have had a BFP by now... Oh well!

Having read the posts for this week, it seems there's quite a few of us feeling down, pissed off and fed up, so BIG HUGS to everyone xxxx

Enjoy the weekend girlies, I'm going to open a bottle of wine and try and find something crappy on tv to watch !

hairytriangle · 30/04/2010 19:47

Hello.

I'm just letting you that I am having an early MC right now.

Now, I know it's sad, but I am looking at this as an extremely positive thing.

I am forty two. I have been trying for a couple of months. Although tests were good, I was never convinced that I could conceive at my age.

On Thurs night I had been late for 6 days, so did a test, with the idea of eliminating the possibility. It was a huge shock.

Friday morning I did another test, which came out faintly positive, and within an hour I had light spotting.

Saw doctor who did a blood test (confirmed positive) and then started bleeding heavily. Saw doc again last night - 99% sure it's a miscarry.

I'm at terms with it (a bit sad of course) but feeling WOW! I can conceive and WOW I can stop thinking that I might have something wrong!

I'm going on a health kick now - to maximise my chances.

This has happened at a time when I've just moved house, not eaten particularly healthily etc, so if I change my lifestyle, I'm really positive it might happen again for me, with better results!

claire196 · 30/04/2010 20:01

Hi ladies,

I've been trying to stay away from MN(unsuccessfully), hope I can come back and join you. Am now 4 days into the 2ww and going CRAZY! Thought I was really sick this morning but then read that you cant get symptoms until implantation. Hey ho it was all in my head then.

Sorry for everyone feeling down. I hope those wishing for AF get it soon and those hoping it stays away get a BFP instead!

The last few days there seems to have been quite a lot of shitty dr stories - makes me and I hope you guys get what you need in the end. I recently had a run in with the NHS when DH was ill and couldn't believe the incompetence and arrogance!!

On red bush tea (aka rooibos) - I'm a big fan. You can get yummy vanilla or chai flavours as well which are lovely with milk and a spoon of honey.

Gongrats to homebound and hello everyone else.

OneOf8 · 30/04/2010 20:35

Evening All,

Shit, HairyTriangle Not going to say to much, but agree in finding positives. Thinking of you [no face appropriate...]

CaveMum The tracker sounds really good - I however would need the upgraded version, which is more like the tags they put on convicts to enable me to know when AF would be visiting!!

Kaloki wish I had a talent like that - the only things I can make is a) a mess, b) "a mountain out of a molehill"

Aries Ha ha, Bad mood... Maybe its your rain cloud and not the great british weather! Still, at least you got the sympathetic look for the 3 nanoseconds. Last time I cried I got "your scaring me, please stop" as I NEVER cry (although feel like I want to regularly!) Darn whore-moans - hope downer passes

I got the same "stress blah blah issues" talk from my female GP Pinkie - the NHS must supply card with "Useful Crap to tell stressy birds" with the white jacket when they graduate!! That said she (this particular GP) is really nice, so kinda let her off

Everyone else ok?

CaveMum · 30/04/2010 22:07

hairytriangle sorry to hear your news. I think you are taking a fantastic attitude so well done you. Hope that doesn't sound patronising.
I think you do have to take the view that everything happens for a reason, and as you say at least you know you can conceive.

Kaloki · 30/04/2010 22:20

hairytriangle you are an inspiration, you know that? Really sorry to hear your news, but you are right on the silver lining.

Anyway, in other news, AF showed up. But DP was really good and pointed out that we had all the time in the world and that in all honesty it made it easier to focus on the wedding, and lessened the money worries. Days like these I remember how lucky I am to have him.

hairytriangle · 01/05/2010 07:43

Thanks everyone. x

felicityFlick · 01/05/2010 08:28

Morning all of you UK sleepy heads ,

hairytriangle Just to echo what the others have said- your positive attitude is amazing. I am certain that it will help you deal with what's happened and allow to try again with confidence. xxxx

Sorry about AF kaloki but your DP is right- bless him, he sounds lovely.

BIG CONGRATS to homebound- fantastic news! We've been a bit short on BFP's this month but our list is quite top heavy so who knows what the next few days will bring? I can't believe it's May already! Where is this year going?!

aries- I am very suspicious of your symptoms.... I know that you're trying to be good and not mental in the 2ww but this seems unusual......what are your thoughts? any of your usual AF signs about?

and flo FF says you've gone triphasic?!! Well.. If that is not a reason to get your hopes up, I don't know what is! Any other symptoms? and you're going to wait until a week today to test- fingers crossed for you!! What day did FF say you ovulated on?

Sorry your feeling down in the dumps wannamummy- I really hope this weekend goes ok for you. I hope the wine and crap TV took your mind of things too last night.

pinkie sorry your doctor was not much help. At least you can feel like you've done all you can and have taken some action. I always get horribly sore, bullet like nips about ten days before AF comes so fingers crossed it's the same for you and she's on her way to pay you her last visit for nine months

Did you DH get home ok in the end cavemum? How's Molly been behaving this week? My two cats have had a shocker of a week. Monday- we go to work and the last of our visitors are still sleeping when we leave. Cats go outside for the day as does their litter tray. When we come home one cat is inside the house and the litter tray is not. Yep, you've guessed it....one of my darling fur babies had done a wee. Not just anywhere though.... on our bloody bed! So her big pile of wee had soaked though the duvet cover, the duvet, the sheet, the mattress protector and on to the mattress That means that we have spent the week scrubbing the mattress and trying to get the stinky cat piss smell out using all sorts of old wives tales. Meanwhile we've been sleeping in the spare bedroom and the double bed in there seems so small so we have been cramped and hot and this has interfered with my temp charting as all my temps have been hotter than normal! Thats not all... on Thursday we get home from work and the other cat is licking her stomach suspiciously and is very grumpy. DH picks her up and examines her and sees that she has a huge wound on her tummy just by her left back leg. It was not very deep but was quite wide. So off we go down to the vets who says it needs surgery so we had to leave her there on Thursday night and she had her stitches yesterday. All went well but I now have one very grumpy cat, wearing one of those horrid cone things to stop her licking her stitches and she's desperate to go outside but has to stay in for ten days 'til she gets the stitches out! The annoying thing is that the other bloody cat keeps licking the injured one's stitches!

evil good luck for Tuesday and zippys still thinking of youxxxx

Welcome to lankylegs and Aims80

Lovely to see you popping in lucky, hermya and bunny i always check the grads thread to see how you all are so I get to keep up to date with all of your news. Great news about your scans bunny and herm! and also about your course with Mr Nice Voice hermya, just think...you'll be a mummy by then!

Big waves to all I've missed. Keep going with the temps MrsW hope you all have a lovely bank holiday weekend.Anyone going away for it? We have bank holiday here too today (May 1st) but seeing as it's a Saturday they don't give us a day off in lieu for it which I think is very stingy! I had planned to do loads of jobs today- sorting out my clothes and having a big clear out and whilst dh is out at rugby. I also wanted to do some marking and catch up with some friends on skype but I went out for birthday last night and have a blooming hangover today so I am cross with myself! It's nearly 3.30 and I've done nothing except walk into town and buy myself an ice cream so I need to get my arse into gear and get on with my jobs!

I'll be back later- hopefully I'll have achieved something by then!

CaveMum · 01/05/2010 09:13

Morning Felicity
DH finally got home 4 and a half hours after setting off on what should have been a 2 and a half hour journey!
Sorry to hear about your poorly cat - and the cat pee- they always look so grumpy in the cones don't they. When my two were 6 months old we had them both done. Obv this is a bigger job for the girl than the boy so we took his cone off after a few days but left hers on. However he decided he'd help out by washing her stitches so I had to put his cone back on him too. He wasn't impressed! He would sit down on his haunches and put his back feet on the cone to try and push it off. He succeeded a few times!
Sadly we lost him 8 months later in a car accident .

Hope everyone has a lovely bank holiday weekend and that the weather is ok for you. We are racing this weekend as it is the first big meeting of the year in Newmarket. They are running the 2,000 and 1,000 Guineas which have been run for over 200 years and are two of the big five Classic races run in this country every year. I don't have any tips as such, but I will be backing a horse called Al Zir each way in the 2,000 Guineas. Haven't decided who I'll back in the 1,000 but that race is tomorrow so I'll decide then.

Ariesgirl · 01/05/2010 09:18

Your poor cats,Flick. If you can cope with them, you can deffo cope with a baby. That's what DH told me last night after I came clean about my wobbly 48 hours moment, which I'm still in.

Sorry, me me me me me.

Am extremely sorry for your loss, HairyTriangle (have I said how I dig you username?) and admiring of your brilliant attitude. The best of luck with carrying on.

hairytriangle · 01/05/2010 09:33

I just have this kind of philosophy that looks for a positive in all things, I really believe it's possible, with hard work, to choose how we deal with things (well, it works for me).
As I say, had I not tested I never would have know and would have just thought I was having a late, weird, nasty period!
But I do know, and it proves my body is not too old and knackered!
x

hairytriangle · 01/05/2010 09:36

Im being very me me me here i know blush

I just see it as a small disk of cells that could have become a baby one day, but didn't.
So I grieve for what might have been, and look to the future and next time

CaveMum · 01/05/2010 10:17

I think part of the problem is that we can test so early on in the pregnancy now. In the past you'd have had to wait a good 6-8 weeks to have an indication of whether you were pregnant or not, so wouldn't have really noticed the loss early on. As hairytriangle says, you would think that you were having a heavy, slightly later than ususal period.
I read some statistics that said something scary like 1 in 5 conceptions will be lost early and 1 in 9 start out as a mutiple pregnancy!

claireinthecommunity · 01/05/2010 12:09

Just a quickie from me as have a busy few days ahead.

Homebound, congratulations, the POAS story was very funny

Hairytriangle, your philosophy on this is fantastic, you have given me hope too!

Hello to everyone else, hope you all have great weekends.

claireinthecommunity · 01/05/2010 13:29

hairytriangle Sorry to hear your news. We are all here if you need us. xx

felicity Don't get too exited for me, just in case its not to be! I'm no good with disapointment. FF said i'd possibly gone triphasic on CD19 if I ov'ed on CD12. Just possibly, not definatly. This is if I ignore that low temp I mentioned which was after a very disturbed night's sleep. If I don't ignore the low temp then I ov'ed on CD14 and there is no mention of the word triphasic. That means i'm either 9 or 11 dpo. No symptoms that I've not had before. I actually feel like AF may arrive any day now though. I feel heavy down low if you know what I mean. Its all far too confusing and thats why I think i'll put off testing until next weekend.

Kaloki So sorry about AF, your DP sounds lovely. I hope the wedding plans start falling into place now you have hopefully found your venue and that will take you mind off things.

pinkie Argh doctors! Sorry about your BFN, I hope AF is coming soon and you can just get on with things.

cavemum I have that ap! You can change the skin & I have one with lipstick kisses on a mirror during the fertile period. Bit tacky but it makes me smile. Its not great to input your temp as the graph doesn't really work but its a good place to store them until you can get onto FF properly. I've not bet on your horse today - probably regret it, hope you win a few pennies.

Aires I hope you feel better today. I also feel a bit crap. Not that will help you at all. You like cider? I have some pear kopparbergs going spare if you fancy one in the rain?
