Ridiculous Symptom Spotting... come on... you know you do...

1000 replies

millymoo1234 · 29/03/2010 21:22

OK, so since TTC I've thought (or wondered briefly) the following might be signs of being pregnant...

funny rash on my legs - still don't know what this was
three spots on my forehead - I was convinced this was a hormone induced 'breakout' as I don't normally get spots)
General bad mood - turns out I'm just grumpy
crazy dreams
needing a wee
not needing a wee
not liking the smell of coconut - weird
feeling very weepy and sore boobs - hmmm... this could have just been PMS!
stuffy nose

This month I have a massive craving for Mango which I'm normally indifferent to - I am of course CONVINCED that it's my month...

Am desperately trying to hold out till next weekend to test... I need distractions! anyone else had any funny symptoms and wondered if it could be a SIGN?

pleas join in the madness and let me know I'm not the only one! xxx

Really really hope things work out for you shelley.please keep us posted x

Bossy good on you not letting af get the better of you! hopefully the rest of your cycle goes without a hitch with a nice bfp at the end as a reward for all the shittiness.

I spent a lovely day with my very pregnant friend and my ds,shopping and having lunch. Now i've got the tv/computer/sofa to myself as dp is away on a stag do and ds is in bed.got myself a nice romantic film(leap year) and a chinese..heaven

My boobs are def bigger today, and had a wee bit of crampiness earlier,so the symptom spotting is off to a good start

seanybosmummysfedupwaiting · 03/07/2010 22:52

omg just looked at them and they are massive!!

shelleylou · 03/07/2010 23:09

seanybosmummysfedupwaiting · 03/07/2010 23:13

Oh yes much better than the post pregnancy deflated balloons lol dont know about you but there was a point where i could pinch my boobs and my fingers met through the skin(hence the deflated balloons comment)

shelleylou · 04/07/2010 00:18

bev2102 · 04/07/2010 05:38

Hi all TTCers, mind if I jump in on the thread?
Firstly a massive congrats to all BFPs, good luck to all poss BFPs, lots & lots of baby dust to all TTCs, and my heartfelt wishes to all BFNs.
A little about me;
I've got a DS of 19 months and am TTC DC2. I've had 6 miscarriages now (1 prior to DS, DSs twin and 4 since DS). I'm currently cd33 of normal cd28 and not sure what to think! I too have been a neurotic POASer and last test yesterday afternoon was BFN! Having said that though I didn't get a BFP with DS until I was 5 weeks 6 days pregnant and he was a twin at that stage! I just wish I knew either way (I find the not knowing sooooooo much worse than the monthly curse rearing it's ugly head!). I've so many symptoms but then again they could be linked to other things so don't know what to think. I sent my DH out to buy a batch of cheapie tests (2 for £1 at Poundshop) do these work or do you think I'll continue to get BFNs even if, dare I say it, I am pregnant? Has anyone ever got a real BFP on tests this cheap or shall I get a CB one? Dilemmas dilemmas!

Sorry it's a long post but symptoms as follows (TMI INFO WARNING!)

bev2102 · 04/07/2010 05:44

Sorry sent last msg rather than finishing!
Symptoms are;
Being ditzy (see above lol)
Feeling sick
Lots of little spots
Incredibly thirsty
Abnormally hot (profusely sweating when others just warm)
Bigger appetite but don't want to eat as everything tastes funny
DS pointing at me saying 'baby!'
Very tired
Peeing loads
Change in bowel habits
VERY horny!!!!!

Others too but can't think of them at moment. Just wish I knew one way or the other!

bossyboop · 04/07/2010 09:01

Hello bev, so sorry for all the sadness you have faced, think all you ladies that go through this are so brave. Ive never used the poundshop ones but I would say if you are inclined to poas too early or like yourself who may not get a bfp till later than most people then i would say cheaper the better until symptoms are soooooooo obvious it couldnt possibly be anything else, then i would get a more expensive test!

shelleylou, still thinking about you, big hugs.

Seany if anyone deserves a bfp its you, in my Zita West fertility book it says to visualise the growing baby in your tummy and take time out each day for this thinking positive thoughts and all that, i must give that a whirl next time.

AF returned straight away after i came off the pill, thought everything was back to normal but maybe this weird cycle is me actually getting back to pre pill normal as its bright red and watery, dripping into loo (sorry tmi) whereas normal for as long as i can remember has been reddy brown, thick and sticky, making it hard to tell when brown spotting has ended and actual af has began. Just feeling sick and crampy tho the positive side is i dont have spots, usually get some serious hormonal dont want to leave the house spots, so theres my silver lining!

shelleylou · 04/07/2010 19:34

Thanks guys, I'm trying to be positive but something at the back of my mind says its the worst. Cant bring myself to go hospital and get checked out and not the easiest thing to do anyway as DH at work and noone is aware were TTC so childcare woud be a problem. Oh well theres always next month

StormTTCbabyNo1 · 04/07/2010 19:38

for Shellylou xxx

seanybosmummysfedupwaiting · 04/07/2010 20:39

Thank you Bossy, thats so nice.I def must start the visualisation technique, sure it couldnt hurt to try (thanks for the tip) . Apparantly bright red bleeding for af is meant to be healthy.I was considering going to acupuncture and read that it makes your af bright red.

Shelly is the bleeding still there? Hope you're ok. Have you not told anyone in RL that you're ttc?

Bev hello and best of luck to you! Sorry to hear you have had such a heartbreaking time, like Bossy said you are so brave.

I have been feeling 'off' all day. Had dodgy stomach cramps during the night and felt a bit sickly this morning. Dont know whether it was a dodgy chinese last night or im coming down with a bug or something. Ive also had cramps for almost all of today though its weird cause they are not like af cramps, more like a bloating and aching really low down, accompanied by a sore lower back.
Not to mention the huge swollen boobs+sensitive nips ,which felt a bit sore earlier when i had my bra on.
Im only cd19 so dont know whether i am imagining all this or not!

On a lighter note,we got ds a lovely little pet today-a netherland dwarf rabbit who we have named Ruby.Shes only approx 6-8 weeks old but she is soooo timid and is just hiding in her hutch. Doesnt help that ds keeps going over shouting Ruuuuuubyyyyy!! Whys she not coming out mummy? lol

arrgh stupid laptop keeps double posting

shelleylou · 04/07/2010 23:35

Ye its stil there long with the cramping been quite painful today. I've tried do nothing at all and jut curled up on sofa, thinking rest might help. No we havent told anyone theres enough goin on in my family atm without this.

bev2102 · 05/07/2010 01:47

Lots of hugs and warm thoughts to Seany and Shelley. Hope you're both feeling lots better soon. Thinking of you x

bev2102 · 05/07/2010 01:49

Thanks Seany and Bossy. I don't think I'm necessarily brave, just trying to think of MCs as heavy bleed rather than what they actually were. Funnily enough though every MC I've said to DH 'I'm pregnant but don't get too excited as I don't think it'll happen'. I don't know why I felt like that but just had a gut feeling. Same with DS, as soon as I found out I was pregnant I had a feeling it was twins but knew I'd only have one baby. Thankfully my gut feelings have made the MCs easier to cope with. It was still traumatic as I felt useless and wondered why my stupid body kept letting me down. Having my DS is the only thing that's made it a little less heartbreaking. I keep reminding myself my body's done it once so can do it again. I'll keep trying until I have another DC as my DH was an only child and said it was so lonely. I would love 4 DCs but would be happy with two. I'm lucky that I have such a supportive DH, even though he doesn't understand my compulsion to POAS he is happy with me doing them if it makes me feel better! Bless him.
Just re-read instructions on PoundShop tests and it says to get best results wait until 7 days after missed period!!!! How is that humanly (or should I say womanly) possible?! I'm going to buy another type of PT tomorrow, CB or FR. Does anyone know if FR tests are still BOGOF at Boots?

PMSL at Seany's DS shouting at timid bunny and wondering why she's cowering in the corner! That's made my day!

bev2102 · 05/07/2010 02:12

Shelley just been thinking about you and really think you should go to the hospital. I know how difficult it is to pluck up the courage to go but after I went each time I felt a weight lifted from just knowing what was happening to my body.
If it is worse case you can start to grieve.
If it's implantation bleeding you'll know to take it easy and won't have the additional stress of 'what if's' (which can make things worse).
If you're hospital has an EPU (Early Pregnancy Unit) then they're usually wonderful and completely understand your feelings as they'll have seen it all before.
I went to EPU after bleeding a few times. One time in particular I'd been bleeding several days before I plucked up the courage to go. After booking me in they did a POAS on me which was negative. The nurse was so kind, caring and most importantly, non-judgemental.
I hope you are ok and feel reassured that if you do go and get a negative POAS that they won't treat you like an idiot.
Hugs and best wishes xxx

bossyboop · 05/07/2010 08:40

7 days after missed af?! You can get the packs of pee sticks, 10 for £4.99 and they are more sensitive than that!

Not sure if i read it here or another MN post seany about body having a clear out after coming off the pill so the acupuncture sounds similar. This could be me getting back to normal after 8 months of no pill taking. 2 days of bright red and not a sign YET this morning, teeny bit of brown, so could be coming to an end now, which is more than welcome after 2 weeks of this.

I did read that having 1 cup or more a day of caffeine can affect your chances of fertility by as much as 50%, no idea if thats true but its put me off my morning cup of tea anyway!

bossyboop · 05/07/2010 08:46

oh seany - the whole positive thoughts thing, I did it a lot towards the end of my pregnancy telling myself I could do this, women have been giving birth for a long time in the days before our sophisticated pain relief and intervention techniques and that its normal, natural etc etc had the most peaceful labour, not as bad as i thought, the midwife kept asking if i was ok as i was so quiet, shutting my eyes between contractions, totally chilled and calm tho totally assisted by the pethidine! When i got to the hospital i was nearly fully dialated, they asked how i had managed so long on my own - totally believe my positive thoughts helped. It makes sense, im totally into the power of the mind and psychology. Whenever i need to do something im a bit wary of i tell myself i can do this, i gave birth and was snipped with scissors - works a treat!

shelleylou · 05/07/2010 09:56

I might sound realy dumb here but whats a POAS? Been bleeding since lunchtime saturday so i wouldnt have thoguht it would be implantation bleed. AF was due over a week ago

StormTTCbabyNo1 · 05/07/2010 10:01

POAS - Pee on a Stick - not dumb at all I'm pretty crap with these acronyms but I knew that one

bossyboop · 05/07/2010 10:14

Ive gone over to the dark side and have ordered 50 10miu pee sticks from amazon, £7.79 i think with free p&p, they may end up being hopeless but will at least satisfy an urge for 50 days! So much better then the £4.50 i was paying for 2 pees so thats made me yey to lots more peeing on sticks!

shelleylou · 05/07/2010 10:20

learn something new everyday lol. Im going to rest on the sofa again today see how long i can get way with it before DS tells me off

They should keep you going for a while bossy.

TheDiceGirl · 05/07/2010 11:25

i'm back! Extremely sorry for the late update, my internet is the most unreliable thing in the world! As it turns out, i had a bfn but i'm so sure i felt like i was ovulating over the weekend! So i did a lot of bd'ing, just to be sure, you never know! But i do have an appointment with my doctor for this friday to find out what's going on. Baby dust to all of you!
