Ridiculous Symptom Spotting... come on... you know you do...

1000 replies

millymoo1234 · 29/03/2010 21:22

OK, so since TTC I've thought (or wondered briefly) the following might be signs of being pregnant...

funny rash on my legs - still don't know what this was
three spots on my forehead - I was convinced this was a hormone induced 'breakout' as I don't normally get spots)
General bad mood - turns out I'm just grumpy
crazy dreams
needing a wee
not needing a wee
not liking the smell of coconut - weird
feeling very weepy and sore boobs - hmmm... this could have just been PMS!
stuffy nose

This month I have a massive craving for Mango which I'm normally indifferent to - I am of course CONVINCED that it's my month...

Am desperately trying to hold out till next weekend to test... I need distractions! anyone else had any funny symptoms and wondered if it could be a SIGN?

pleas join in the madness and let me know I'm not the only one! xxx

that sounds promising... are you testing any time soon??

Dandeliondrama · 24/06/2010 19:12

Had a 'blink and you'll miss it' moment of a spot of pink-tinged cm...but it was literally a spot. Still 5 days to go before af, so .....sigh, can't believe the extent to which I'm analysing each day . Have had 4 days of twingy lower left abdominal feelings together with running a low-grade temperature and being shaaaaaattered, and am petrified that rather than it being the signs of pg it is warning signs about a possible ovarian cyst. Have been through that before, not good!

madas I'm so pleased for you, congrats!

bossyboop · 25/06/2010 07:53

oh dont say that dandelion, was just nodding my head at the twinges, ive had a few of those tho actually just one twinge to the left but mainly just feeling constantly...well how do i put it, wont say i feel pregnant as that means af will arrive but it just feels like a dragging sensation that starts from my belly button downwards. Several bras and several pairs of trousers feel tight tho washing everything like i normally do so dont think ive shrunk anything as leg length is still the same on the trousers. Still have a stuffy nose yey!

Yesterday gave dd her tea and couldnt help but have a bite of her chicken fingers and fish fingers. Really didnt like the chicken finger and spat out the fish finger. Though not in the same league as a nice piece of lemon soul (which funnily enough i was craving the other night) but i am partial to the odd fish finger. Didnt think anything of it at the time but this morning i remembered it and put 2 and 2 together and automatically came up with a baby!

Couldnt resist using my FR even tho i talked myself out of using it yesterday morning on the basis that first of all i was about a week early and they only detect about 6 days if you are lucky as only 99% effective from the day af is due and second of all i didnt want to know in case of chemical pregnancy. Oh im so weak, so yesterday afternoon was the bfn which made me a bit grumpy tho at least its out the way now. Did buy a couple of cheapies from the chemist which are to be used from the day af is due and so ive given dh them to hide.

Anything else to report.......oh yes with dd i lost weight at the start and in spite of bloating and tight trousers im 3lbs lighter than i was a few days ago. Oh let the madness continue!

bossyboop · 25/06/2010 07:54

does trying to put the iron away in the fridge class as a symptom???!!!

Madasajarofwasps · 25/06/2010 09:18

Bossy I have everything crossed - I hope the next week goes quickly for you. Trying to put the ironing in the fridge could well be a symptom . I couldn't think straight and still can't!

7 days is very early to test, even with a FR so try to resist. I hope your DH is a strong man

Madasajarofwasps · 25/06/2010 09:20

Ooops iron not ironing - now that would be batty!! See can't see straight either lol!!

seanybosmummysfedupwaiting · 25/06/2010 22:48

oooh bossy thats interesting!!! lots of things crossed all round!!!

madas how are you feeling??

ant did you test today??????????

Well cd10 for me and have very odd crampiness, very very weird for this early on!! also had very bouncy feeling boobs last night ,and yip just had a quick check and they are still like that.early ov maybe??

bossyboop · 26/06/2010 08:28

that was the first thing i thought of seany, ive given up trying to work out when i ovulate without splashing more cash on sticks. Tho i think i might get some if this month doesnt work as it will give me something to focus on.

ok so 5 days of having a teeny bit of pink tinged cm once or twice a day when i wipe, achey lower back and lower abs, bloating, twinges, very thirsty and dry mouth, stuffy nose, sore boobs, just feel heavy, suspicious looking boob, being a bit irritable, disliking foods i usually like, some nausea and dizziness, bright blue veins on thighs and stretchy cm.

Ive learnt so much about myself with your help the last 3 months

  1. that i have a suspicious looking boob
  2. that i permanently look like an a to z
  3. i have no will power or patience
  4. that i can obsess over anything

oh the list goes on!

Dandeliondrama · 26/06/2010 10:07

Ah bossy, you make me laugh . I completely over-analyse every little symptom I have now, some of which I didn't even know were symptoms until I joined this thread!

Have to admit that I couldn't resist any longer and had to test this morning sheepish look. As I should have expected it was BFN, BUT as it's still 4 days to go until AF perhaps there's still hope. What pushed me over the edge was that my boobs have also begun feeling a little sore, the twingy abdomen pains are still there, and I was so thirsty yesterday when I'm normally one of those woman who never even get close to drinking the requisite 2 litres of water a day. Of course, the hot weather couldn't have had anything to do with it......

bossyboop · 26/06/2010 10:46

couldnt help google and ended up on an old mn thread from 2006 i think and 1 person had bfn for several days using fr and it wasnt till she was actually late she got a bfp so that gives hope. Did have odd taste in the mouth last night but most likely due to dodgy spagbol, did raid the spice rack.

Well im off to get changed and going for a sit in the sunshine, good excuse to stand in front of mirror and do some vein spotting...

seanybosmummysfedupwaiting · 26/06/2010 12:07

pmsl at bossy, loving the list .
I think i came across that thread as well when i was goggling a few months ago. its great what you can find on google, but also sometimes scary as it gets you imagining all sorts!!

dandelion dont give up hope coz 4 days before af is still way to early for some people. do you usually get sore boobs?
That is one thing i never really seem to get.they sometimes seem heavy but never really sore.cant actually remember if mine were sore with ds they mustnt have been if i cant remember.

How is everyone else?

I def think i mite be ovulating early as had tugging type pains in the right ovary area a wee while ago and my boobs are still bouncy. didnt even get bding last night cause dp went to bed while i was on here and by the time i got upstairs he was asleep. I didnt want to wake him cause he was quite tired yesterday and he had to start work at 8.30 this morning. oh well,im not going to stress about it.

Oh forgot to update after my docs apt on thursday..he rang hosp for me and the receptionist at gynae told him they have me on the list for an apt in august (much horrified expressions from me at hearing this). anyway turns out the receptionist is a patient of my docs and he asked her could she quite possibly manage to get me fitted in for an apt in july instead, and she said yes!! nice woman! Just waiting on letter arriving with apt date on it

bossyboop · 27/06/2010 08:27

true seany, i am imagining allsorts, think if af does arrive next week i think i will take a trip to the Drs as this cycle has been very unusual for me, last night had a teeny bit of pink tinged gloop so thats the 6th day of that. Ive never experienced that before, and been getting niggly feelings and twinges, went to bed in the end. Im definitely keeping away from the FR in case it has worked but isnt taking. Sad thing is that altho ive got lots of genuine symptoms going on i dont really feel like i am but i just wish this heavy feeling would go away, got my lower back sore with it.

Yesterday was awful, my tollerance levels took a massive dip and i was screaming like a fishwife all day over nothing! Thought DH was going to have me commited to an asylum, even i was sick of hearing my own voice. But today is a new day and hopefully i will be better, this may be the worst case of pmt ive ever had!

I think i will have to go and google and scare myelf witless about what else could be going on. Last night was crying when i saw someone else crying on tv, i felt so sad for them, but was maybe down to what a rubbish day i had. Nice calm cup of tea to start the day!

bossyboop · 27/06/2010 08:50

oh forgot to say seany, so glad you are getting seen in july, nearly july now so not long and i wouldnt have been happy with august either!

Dandeliondrama · 27/06/2010 09:24

Oh bossy I empathise with you with all my heart! Yesterday I was so grumpy with DH, snapping at the silliest things, that my normally very tolerant man even commented on it. Which of course made me even more grumpy.

seany I'm not actually sure if I normally get sore boobs - this is the first month that I'm charting my symptoms every day, however potentially the prodding hasn't helped!

In general, I've now been running a low grade fever for a week and am seriously concerned as to the lower abdomen twinges as have no other symptoms which could explain the fever. If AF does arrive this week then I'm also off to the doctor bossy as I'm still worried about the possibility of a cyst

bossyboop · 27/06/2010 09:38

cheers dandelion, its great being able to come here where everyone understands what its like. Ive no idea about sore boobs either, have started getting them recently, tho may have had them longer just havent really prodded them till now! Did have them after dd was born - how can i forget the hideous mastitis. I think i will def be going to doctors too. Last time i had a weird cycle and i went with a list of things i was worried about she said if i still have concerns go back to have blood and swabs taken and they may send me for a scan. So at least willing to investigate rather than brush me off.

Ive now given up on internet and sticking with mn archives, lets face it, how many times have i read that womens cycles are 28 days and you ovulate on cd14 - load of rubbish and as for days when implantation bleeding occurs its all different according to what you read so im sticking to reading about real women who can give real accounts about their experiences and you cant argue with that!

seanybosmummysfedupwaiting · 27/06/2010 22:36

Hello everyone

bossy how are you feeling today? calmer? . I think we all have had those days where we are ranting and raving like a lunatic and just cant help ourselves,so i am very sympathetic. Hope today has been more pleasant for you..That is great that you have a supportive GP (tbh mine is a wee bit of an arse normally, but he was quite nice to me last week when i went so he musta been having a good day). For a change lol

Dandelion i am convinced the symptom charting makes us even more deranged lol but we just cant help ourselves .

My bouncy boobs are still in attendance today lol have had horrible backache all day,its really twingey. prob due to last nites enthusiastic bding .

We had a celebration in our house tonight..ds went to a wee on the big boys toilet for the first time [proud mummy emoticon]
Oh his wee face and big suprised eyes when he realised he was actually going was priceless . I got him a big pack of animal stickers out of tescos and when he goes he gets to pick one and he sticks it to the wee stool he uses to climb up on the toilet. aww im so proud lol

bossyboop · 28/06/2010 07:58

awww seany thats brilliant, i was super proud when dd went to big girl loo for the first time and still am, she still needs more practice at it all and tbh potty training has been one of the hardest things so far.

I was better yesterday and didnt shout once! Was still feeling a bit icky and just not quite right but once i got lunch out of the way and spent a few hours in the garden I didnt really think about it and therefore didnt notice any symptoms!

Was trying to convince myself my nipples were darker last night tho not really sure what my normal colour is and was wondering why on earth i dont have a colour chart made up for moments just like this?!

Not feeling as bloated or heavy, tho boobs more sore tho could easily be af getting ready. Still dont really feel anything tho thinking about it, the pink tinged cm has stopped so if it was implantation then its only just settling in so its still actually early days. Placed a BD ban while having the pink cm as didnt want to disturb anything just in case and lifted the ban last night, no sore back for me seany but after i felt like i could be sick, poor dh! Did have nasty taste in the mouth again yesterday - dodgy sausage and mash this time?!

Where is everyone else up to on their cycles, im cd25 of 27-28 day cycle????

seanybosmummysfedupwaiting · 28/06/2010 13:51

Bossy i pmsl every time i read your posts, theyre so comical (sorry for laughing at your state of confusion )
What age is your dd? my ds is 2yr 9 mths and that is the first success we've had on the big toilet.

Bossy that def sounds like implantation, have you decided when your gonna test?

bossyboop · 28/06/2010 16:38

dont worry seany, im laughing too, you have to dont you otherwise i think i would be locked away somewhere! Thursday I think thats the day im due, its all so confusing and i keep getting muddled up and no matter how often i check the calendar and count the days i still cant remember. Now i wish I had kept my FR. Hopefully if it is, and fingers crossed it is, then it should be detected then, but not sure as didnt have implantation bleeding before. 3 more sleeps tho af could turn up, cant do anything but wait and see...prod boobs, check veins...!

DD is 3 we thought she would start nursery in sep so intended to give it ago over the summer after many failed attempts since she was 18 months. Then the letter came to say she had a place in april so said right we must do this, had a bad start, then she was poorly, we stopped, then i said right times running out and luckily she just wanted to do it and she sat on the potty. Shes had a few accidents at nursery but no where near as many as i expected but that was due to her needing someone to take her to the loo and when i explained it to the teacher, someone started taking her and shes started going on her own now and started using big loo at home instead of the potty. No night training as yet as nappy still soaked in the morning.

Dandeliondrama · 28/06/2010 18:59

Hi bossy I'm CD28 out of 28 so AF due any second. Had some brown-tinged cm today so it's not looking good for me. Seriously. what does it take to get this right!?!

So any idea on how implantation works? As in, how long the bleed goes on for if it happens? Holding thumbs for you bossy!

Well done seany with ds and the big toilet...have absolutely no experience myself but think the sticker idea is v cute .

I just found out today that I'm not on DH's work private medical cover, grrrrrr. Am still battling a temperature and sore lower abdomen and side, so was planning on bypassing the NHS to get checked-out. Sigh, guess I'll be doing it the long way now!

StormTTCbabyNo1 · 28/06/2010 19:36

Hi guys....

My I join your post please?

I'm currently CD17 of a normally 28 day cycle (i think). I'm 2DPO and already trying to guess if I am PG or not.

REALLY P**sing myself of to be honest!! I drank 2 and a half litres of water today and convinced myself that I went to the loo that many times I MUST be PG - silly cow....who wouldn't go to the loo alot after drinking that much!!

Well....I do have a slight dull ache in the Womb region that can be a little ucomfortable and I have been experiencing painful headaches and these were both symptoms the last time....ARRRRRRRGH - whats going on! I wish I could stop thinking about it!!!!!

Sorry for the rant x

seanybosmummysfedupwaiting · 28/06/2010 20:23

Thanks dandelion ,i was suprised at how enthusiastic he is about the stickers,i though i would have to bribe him with sweeties lol

Bossy i was starting to panic a bit about ds getting potty trained, but after reading your post and reading over some other peoples posts about it has made me feel a bit of relief. ds did not use the toilet at all today. His teacher in creche told me that he sat on it twice today but didnt go and he had no interest at all in sitting on it when he got home.I dont want to rush him though so i suppose he will do it in his own time. He has been at a creche since he was 7 months old and i went back to work, and will be going into the preschool at the creche in september so def need him to be trained by then.fingers crossed for the coming few weeks!!

Hiya Storm and good luck, sounds like you will fit in with the rest of us nicely
lol at your 2 and a half litres

swizzlestar · 28/06/2010 20:36

Hi can I join you?!

This is my first cycle after having my mirena removed, and I'm now 3-4 days dpo and crazily symptom spotting!! In my head I know it's ridiculous........but i can't help it arrghhhh.

So I've had cramping type period pains for the last few days, metallic taste in my mouth and I swear blind my boobs are swollen.

How the hell am I going to last 2 weeks??!!! Plus I feel stupid for even thinking this could happen on the first month .

bossyboop · 28/06/2010 21:02

Welcome to the newbies!

Seany, they do it when they are ready and as your ds is interested and having a go im confident he will be fully trained by sep! DD ran a mile from the potty, even the all singing all dancing one, then one day she just sat on it and went, it was fantastic and the batteries werent even in the fancy potty! So once they get it, they get it and it will just happen one day!

I was thinking about my last ttc and how it wasnt at all like this, then i remembered why...I didnt have access to the internet then! Wouldnt change it for the world tho, this is far more interesting and im in good company here!

Im sure i was retching this morning at the smell of the water out the tap if my toothbrush had been at the back of my mouth i would have said it was just that but it was at the front and i wasnt even thinking about retching, smells or feeling sick or anything. Tho i was then trying all the taps to get a whiff of that smell but there was not a suspicious drop to be found!

Also funny taste again, dodgy strawbs this time?? Seems to be the same time each day i notice it. And dare i even mention the flatulence

As for implantation bleeding everything you read says something different and the people who have actually had it all describe different things too including red rather than pink and brown and lasting all week or just a few days, heavy as well as light and some say 6-12dpo and others say diffrent so god only knows, so that gives us all a final bit of hope!

swizzlestar · 28/06/2010 21:16

bossy your symptoms do sound promising!! When do you plan on testing??
