I thought I'd start a thread for all of us who worship at the shrine of Toni Weschler, spend whole seconds analysing cervical mucus, slip over in the shower checking cervical position and spend two minutes every morning flicking their heads from side to side in a valiant attempt to stop a baby pulling the thermometer out of their mouths. Ladies, this thread is for all of us, may it see many many BFPs!

theteasonme Thanks. I know what you mean, i can't wait till I've had this last baby (please god) and then I will know I definitely don't want (and don't have time for) any more. Then I will be able to look at pregnant womens bumps and smile with genuine pleasure for the rest of my days.

I think because 3 years is a popular gap there are always preggy women hanging around the nursery doors. Could be you really soon.

Did you still want me to find out about a reflexologist???

theteasonme · 16/06/2010 22:21

Ooh, yes please I want to give everything a try before it's in the hands of the 'reproductive medicine' people.

PS) why is spilt abusing herself?!

hippychick66 · 16/06/2010 22:27

Ok I'll ask her by email.

splits put impossible temps into FF and it rejected her - she is naughty and needs to work harder if she is gonna pass this year at school!

spilttheteaagain · 16/06/2010 22:33

Tis hard when you keep waking at stupid o'clock in the middle of the night and don't get more than 1hr unbroken sleep after that. I just took my temp the first time I woke up... which was as early as 3.15am on occasion.

FF thought I was being a tad inconsistent!

hippychick66 · 16/06/2010 22:37

I know what you mean. I always find it hard to know whether to go with the 4.30am wake up to visit the loo or the 7am (but without 3 consecutive hours rest before).

But you have been told - so you must do it right. Anyway, it sounds like you're getting to grips with it - good luck.

theteasonme · 16/06/2010 22:41

Anyone else think we're slightly bonkers trying to add to our brood when we're all already up at the crack of dawn?!!

BabyValentine · 17/06/2010 13:49

Hippy, hope you're feeling okay today. I agree with the others, the scan has told you nothing definitive and although it must be nigh on impossible, you have to try and stay positive, for your own sanity if nothing else. The fact that there was no heartbeat is not necessarily a marker of a problem.

Be kind to yourself. Try not to Google, and try to stay busy, busy, busy. Or come speak to us

spiltthetea, when I woke during the night at 4ish for the obligatory toilet-trip, I would still take my temperature when my alarm went off at 5:30 even if I'd had less than an hours kip. It didn't seem to make too much difference to my temperatures. 'Tis very hard though when you're a poor sleeper.

LittleSilver · 17/06/2010 21:29

hippy how are you this eve? shaggy is full of wisdom. In fact, was walking along a road this afternoon hippy thinking, hmm, well, OK, hippy may know when she ov'd but can't be certain

  • when fertilisation took place
  • when embryo implanted as shags says. So lots of (perfectly good) reason why LO may be measuring small

Chatting to friend on Tuesday and she asked me how my "fatigue levels" were (is a GP and obv finds it hard to switch off!). I said, oh, yes, bit tired at mo, 1st trimester knackeredness! I ended up telling her about charting and she said, why are you doing this, you obv don't have a fertility problem, why bother. And I ended up going frightfully jolly hockey sticks on her and telling her was super fun it was testing CM consistency and finding one's own cervix! . Bet she never wants to talk to me again!

spilttheteaagain · 17/06/2010 22:03

ROFL silver at you disturbing your friend!

We chart because it is fun, fascinating and addictive, and because it gives an illusion of being in control of a seemingly random process.

bessie26 · 17/06/2010 22:19

i reckon about 80% of my temps are marked as "disturbed"!

my acupuncturist said just to take it whenever I woke up. If I do wake up at stupid o'clock then I'll take it then, and again at my 'usual' waking time - 9 times out of 10 they're almost the same reading anyway!

got very confused this morning when my temp was 38.1 - think I might be ill!

BUnderTheBonnet · 17/06/2010 22:21

Or you could try my tactic of taking your temperature 3 or 4 times, and taking the one that looks the most pregnant.

BUnderTheBonnet · 17/06/2010 22:23

BTW - have got serious nervous twitch now. I am 9 dpo and my temp rose significantly this morning. Don't think I'll be able to sleep tonight for excitement about what tomeorrow's temp might be. That'll mess things up properly.

BabyValentine · 18/06/2010 11:19

bUnder that is so true! The most important temperatures are always the most disturbed due to the excitement/terror/dread!

hippy, Shaggy and LittleSilver speak sense. The margin of error on these type of measurements is probably quite large. There are after all an immense amount of varying factors - date of ovulation, date of implantation, position of sac, tilt of cervix, sonographer error etc. etc. The figures that the sonographer is working from are only averages, after all, and we all know someone who has measured big/small for their dates and then delivered a weeny/whopper, or had a large NF measurement and then gone on to have a non-Down's baby. It is not an exact science, and most babies don't follow the chart. Hopefully your LO is just being contrary. Chin up

hippychick66 · 18/06/2010 13:25

Hi guys.

Yes my chins are up - as much as possible. Lots of positive replies to my post on the pregnancy thread.

I agree with everything you've all said and would say the same if it were the other way around. It is just so bloody hard to stop those dark thoughts that come along at 4am!!!

Anyway 2 days down - 10 to go.

I wish i would stop spotting though. it is literally a little bit of pink or brown but it makes toilet trips a suspenseful nightmare!

I don't think only people with fertility probs should chart at all. It helps us be in control (ha ha Hippy - you're not in control now - are you??)

Personally, i charted because of my age - I felt i needed to get on with it and not wait for it to happen by chance. And it defo worked 3 months of trying is very good for an old bird!

I like the idea of going with the temp that makes you most pregnant - very good!

Love to all. Keep on charting. (and mooncupping )

spilttheteaagain · 18/06/2010 17:10

Glad you're sounding more positive hippy.

According to FF I'm now 7 DPO. I hope so because I'm boooored of waiting and wondering. After the excellent examples set on this thread I intend to be waiting until at least 16DPO. Which should be pretty conclusive one way or the other given I have a short LP. But gawd it's a long time until then!

Do you drink on the 2ww?

BUnderTheBonnet · 18/06/2010 18:22

hippy thinking of you...

spiltthetea I actually think it's fine because the bub doesn't get stuff from your system really until a bit later. I think. Please don't flame me! I'm not an alcoholic or anything.

My temps were still up this morning. I will whisper "triphasic?" very quietly...

spilttheteaagain · 18/06/2010 18:51

Excited for you B, how many DPO are you?

theteasonme · 18/06/2010 20:35

Ooh! B I'm so excited for you!! Hope you see another rise in the morning - I too like the ones that look most pregnant!

I only started temping again on CD8 as I gave myself a week 'off' while AF was here. I've started peeing on ov sticks again so will be gearing up to another month of SWI unless the AC works some sort of miracle!

I'm hoping I'll be one of those ladies who turns up to her first fertility appointment already pg...

love and biscuits to all xx

ps) hippy still thinking of you hon, hope you're managing to distract yourself at least some of the time x

BabyValentine · 18/06/2010 21:03

Oooh, BUnder, that does sound promising! Hope tomorrow is even higher.

spiltthetea, I had a glass of vino (well, it was Eurovision!) at 7DPO this cycle

Fingers crossed for an AC miracle teasonme. I think it may take a while to work, but you never know - some people have mentioned pretty drastic results, so fingers crossed

BUnderTheBonnet · 19/06/2010 11:10

I am only 11dpo, but my temps went up again this morning, so I tested. And it was totally inconclusive. Something that might possibly have been a line if you really squinted at it. Gaargh! Will try again tomorrow. I am reluctant to waste my digital tests, but it might come to that by Monday....

BabyValentine · 19/06/2010 13:10

BUnder! Step away from those tests. Patience. How long is your LP normally?

BabyValentine · 19/06/2010 13:10

BUnder! Step away from those tests. Patience. How long is your LP normally?

BUnderTheBonnet · 19/06/2010 14:28

Normally a 13 day LP, so I wasn't that premature...

I've always had early BFPs before too.

BabyValentine · 19/06/2010 14:46

Okay, you're forgiven

Inconclusive sounds good though. But if I were you I'd hang fire until at least Monday. 13 days is such a nice sized LP, long enough, but not too long! I tested positive on 18DPO this cycle (but negative on 18DPO the cycle before that ), that felt like an awfully looong time - not that I am complaining mind...

Good luck!
