I thought I'd start a thread for all of us who worship at the shrine of Toni Weschler, spend whole seconds analysing cervical mucus, slip over in the shower checking cervical position and spend two minutes every morning flicking their heads from side to side in a valiant attempt to stop a baby pulling the thermometer out of their mouths. Ladies, this thread is for all of us, may it see many many BFPs!

Oh IfAtFirst I am so sorry.

The visible reminder of what you haven't got can be so upsetting when you're just taking in that this month isn't your one.

Really hope it happens next time for you. When's your DH back? Hope he gives you a big hug xx

LittleSilver · 12/06/2010 19:34

Oh ifatfirst my dear, Iam so so sorry. That is crap. I was so sure it was going to be your month. Is DH supportive, will he say the right things?

BabyValentine · 12/06/2010 19:47

Oh, ifatfirst, so sorry

I know this may be no comfort whatsoever, but last month I was sure too and took at (negative) test on 18DPO. My temperature was above the coverline, although low, and AF appeared within the day. I never thought that things could be so different this month. Make sure you have some wine.

IfAtFirstUDontSucceed · 12/06/2010 20:42

BV - I'm on my second glass of vino now

DH will be great, can't wait till he gets back tomorrow and give him a huge cuddle. He's out in the sticks at the moment so he's really difficult to get a hold of - that and the blinkin' football

Oh well, as the saying goes - "If at first..........."

theteasonme · 12/06/2010 20:55

Oh no IfAtFirst I'm so sorry. I know how you feel. Hope your DH is home soon. Someone very wise told me CD2 is so much better than CD1 and that was so true. Have a week 'off' - caffeine, alcohol no temps & you'll feel a bit better in a couple of days I'm sure You know where we are if you need us xxx

So sorry ifatfirst it is so much worse when you think you've cracked it.

I'm feeling a bit at the moment.

Since Friday i have been having the tiniest bit of pink/red spotting. It is literally just like small specks on the tissue.(Not even every time I wipe).

But, of course it's enough to make me feel very scared.

I still have all my pregnancy symptoms and am trying desperately to focus on them but a bit of me just keeps thinking it's all going wrong again.

I do have the occasional sharp pain in my cervix as well so it's possible the specks of blood are coming from my cervix.

I am going to try to get a an appointment with my lovely GP tomorrow (she has some emergency slots) and ask her what she thinks. I'm hoping it might just be thrush again (I had that in my last pregnancy and it made me very sore up inside and caused some pink spotting).

Anyway, i'll let you all know how it's going - just need a bit of hand holding from you all at the mo!

spilttheteaagain · 13/06/2010 17:06

Hippy sorry to hear you're so worried. Hopefully as you say everything will be fine. From what I've heard, bleeding/spotting isn't uncommon in early pregnancy and often is no problem. Hopefully your GP can check it out and reassure you. Let us know how you get on.

Thinking of you x

IfAtFirstUDontSucceed · 13/06/2010 17:32

Keeping everything crossed for you Hippy - sure it will all be perfectly fine!

theteasonme · 13/06/2010 19:21

Good luck hippy I'll be thinking of you. I'm sure it'll be nothing to worry about but hopefully the gp will be able to put your mond at rest. How many weeks along are you? I think distracting yourself with mumsnet is the only way forward

take care xx

LittleSilver · 13/06/2010 20:04

hippy thinking of you lots and will you come back and tell us what the GP said? Fingers crossed you'll get booked in for an early scan (you must be 51/2-6 weeks now?) and you can get some reassurance. Hang in there, we're all here for you. x

8rubberduckies · 13/06/2010 20:38

hippy thinking of you too. I had two episodes of bleeding when I was pg - the first was around 8 weeks and although it wasn't heavy it lasted for a few days and I was so distraught. I was on holiday in NZ and paid for a private scan on Christmas Eve and all was well . I still don't know why I bled then, the docs came up with no explanation, but I spent lots of time on the internet reading up and I found out it's really common.

Then, the night before I was due to fly home, about 4 weeks later, I woke in the middle of the night and was bleeding quite heavily, like a normal af. I went straight to a and e in the morning and missed my flight home. Turned out I had a low-lying placenta. God, once I eventually got home to the UK I was a nervous wreck!

Everything is crossed for you x

hippychick66 · 13/06/2010 21:24

thanks for all the support. Will update soon. xxx

theteasonme · 13/06/2010 21:27

dur!! mind not mond!

xx

hippychick66 · 14/06/2010 13:10

Well I'm afraid we have to wait a bit longer. All the emergency appointments with my doc were gone by 9.00 because a doctor was sick and they transfered the appoints over Why can't the physician heal thy self!!!

I can call in the morning and TRY to get an emergency appointment otherwise I'm stuck with thursday at 5pm.

Was feeling a bit more positive but then i just went for a wee and saw a few more spots (the most so far if i'm honest!).

I do feel uncomfortable up inside so am just hoping it's coming from my cervix. Can't really get scanned yet anyway (6 +1 today) so will just have to wait and see 1) if the GP can see any reason for the spotting and 2) if she can get me a scan for about 7 weeks.

Thanks to all for your support - you are wonderful. Will up-date asap. Sorry not to name check everyone- head is mashed!!!!!

spilttheteaagain · 14/06/2010 18:47

Poor you hippy, having to wait and worry. I do feel for you.

Might be total crap but I was wondering about dates? Is this about the time you would have had your next period if you weren't pg? I remember you had very short cycles. I was thinking about how some people carry on having very light periods for the first few months, so it could just be something like that?

Look after yourself x

BUnderTheBonnet · 14/06/2010 19:44

hippy. Can you contact your local EPU direct? Or ask for a phone conversation with a midwife, if your GP is not available?

Danilou22 · 14/06/2010 20:39

Hope all is well with you hippy I am sorry that you are going through a worrying time.

I am getting frustrated. I am due to ovulate but I never seem to produce much EWCM. I am actually becoming really jealous of people who do!

Can you still concieve without it?

spilttheteaagain · 14/06/2010 20:48

I'm sure you can Dani but EWCM does improve your chances. You can buy a lubricant called Preseed online (search Amazon) which is designed as an EWCM substitute for couples ttc and has fantastic reviews. Don't use KY etc as it's not made of the right stuff and will upset the sperm.

Alternatively try taking Evening Primrose Oil as a lot of people (me included!) have found it increases production... I'm taking 1500mg a day from CD1 until ovulation. Apparently it can cause small uterine contractions so is best avoided post ovulation incase you have conceived.

BabyValentine · 15/06/2010 19:42

Oh, hippy, just logged back on after a few days away . I hope you're resting up as much as possible. I agree with the others that this may be nothing, but you must be dreadfully worried. GP appointment-making is a major bug-bear of mine - if they want to free up A&E for the real emergencies, why is it so bloody difficult to see a doctor

I second the EPU phone call, and if you have the front, p'haps you could tell a very, little white lie and say you've tripped over the cat or something...

Dani, the EPO is a good idea. I used 2000 mg per day from CD1 until ovulation, and I also used Pre-seed, although it is a bit pricey.

hippychick66 · 15/06/2010 20:07

Hi guys. I saw my lovely GP today. She said it sounds like a very minor amount of spotting but she is taking no chances - she got me booked in for TOMORROW for a viability scan. I was amazed cos i thought it was too early but she said they will scan if you're over 6 wks and I'll be 6 +3 tomorrow.

So i have a scan tomorrow and hopefully will find out if all is ok in there. The spotting is so slight that i am trying really hard to be optimistic (which works some of the time). See I told you she was a lovley GP. She even asked me to drop a note in to the surgery to let her know how we get on.

I will of course let you know how I get on. Please don't fret if I don't let you know immediately - hopefully I'll be busy dancing up and down the street.

dani I've heard great things about pre-seed as well. Don't get the ready filled applicators tho - they have so much in them it can be like a tidle wave - apparently!

How are you BabyV & Silver - any symptoms yet? I am soooo tired at the moment and I have the usual nausea - so hopefully that's a good sign.

Much love to all.

LittleSilver · 15/06/2010 20:09

Oh hippy that's great, (oooh and how exciting too!). Prayers winging your way and please update as all asap.

OP posts:
Danilou22 · 15/06/2010 20:09

Thanks for the replies. I am on EPO already, I started it this month. I am feeling really really fed up today. I am on day CD20 and no EWCM and no temp shift yet. Was day 20 last month and am getting worried I am going to have an anovulatory cycle

Will just have to keep SWI and hope for the best i suppose! If not there is always next month or the month after that or the month after that etc!

hippychick66 · 15/06/2010 20:25

dani So sorry. Hope you don't have an anovulatory cycle cos that would just be so frustrating for you. Have you had them before??

silver I will update you (as soon as I've finished dancing - optimistic!)

Forgot to say that the GP did give me a pessary for the possible thrush but she doesn't want me to use it tonight incase they do an internal scan tomorrow.

So i felt that she covered everything.

Danilou22 · 15/06/2010 20:29

I don't really know as have only been charting for 2 months. Last month seemed ok but i have suspected PCOS. Am waiting for a scan.

Good luck for tomorrow xxx
