Hello world!

OP posts:
hairytriangle · 01/06/2010 19:49

hello lovelies! Dr from hospital phoned and eased my worries massively. basically there is likely a microscopic bit of stubborn stuff that my body is failing to get rid of and methotrexate is the best thing for it.

I will take the injection tomorrow and hope for the best!

I will lurk here to see how you are all doing, and rejoin you when TTC (in September - booooo!)

Love and light and BFPS to all of you!

Thank you all so much for your support, you are all stars

Diege · 01/06/2010 22:26

Just off to bed but wanted to back up what Genghis says about trisomy 22 Rainbow. My research is in the area of antenatal screening (I'm a medical sociologist) and I have been to countless conferences where chromosome issues are discussed time and time again. I can categorically say your consultant,or whoever you saw,is talking bollocks and that you are highly, highly unlikely to have another tri 22 pregnancy. Sorry, just cross at what you were told Rainbow when it flies in the face of current evidence-based practice. Just needed to get that off my chest!
Right, bed for me, the deed has been done and a second line on opk though faint,so ov in its way!

Diege · 01/06/2010 22:31

Oh and couldn't go without saying to Rowing that I have everything crossed for you this week - calm acceptance is good (as is crazy optimism!), but it must be extremely nervewracking waiting like this xx
Hairy I'm so glad you seem to have an answer and that you are ok about what's going to happen. September will be here before you know it xxx (sneaky non-MN hug). xx

rowingboat · 01/06/2010 23:17

Hi all,
just popping in to see what's happening.

Hairy that sounds like a very helpful chat with the doc. Always worth checking these things out.
It sounds like just what you need. Good luck tomorrow.

Deige thank you! Wow you do seem to have a lot of strings to your bow. I remember you mentioning midwives a while ago as well.

Yep calm, that's me [runs around room tugging at hair]

OP posts:
gumblossom · 02/06/2010 07:14

Well, you certainly sound calm, Rowing.
Sorry you aren't feeling all that positive, but let's just wait and see, shall we?

Hairy, you really have been through the mill, I'm so sorry, I do hope it will be resolved soon.

Rainbow, I'm blowing a bit fat raspberry at the doctor who said such nonsense. What an insensitive prk.I'm a glad Ghengis and Diege were able to make some sense of it.

Diege your job sounds very interesting.I'd never heard of a medical sociologist before today. Do you work for a Uni or are you working for the government?
I have been thinking about switching careers as I'm a bit sick of teaching, and have always been really interested in health. However, I don't think I could handle going back to study, so will just stick to my career as chief cook and child-cuddler(I'd say housewife but I don't do much cleaning).Besides, I'm going to be pregnant really soon, aren't I? That should keep me busy for a while.

I'm feeling a bit ill today.Don't know if it is related to a cold, but my tummy feels a bit off too, and I've been drinking ginger and peppermint tea all day.My acupuncturist says that a cold will upset the large intestine. I'll see her tomorrow afternoon for some needles and tweaking.

BTW, how much caffeine do you have while ttc? Some days I'll drink 5 cups of tea (the black kind).I try to drink green tea too, and herbals, but I do like my normal cuppa a lot more.Do you think it is too much when ttc(especially as I'm an old bird)?

rowingboat · 02/06/2010 08:26

Hi all,

Gum, there you go! Stick the teaching and have a baby instead!
I work in a health library (amongst other things) and we have a lot of mature students (over 23) for nursing and midwifery and social care. There is still funding for nursing, although midwives don't attract funding at the moment.
Isn't ILGH planning to train as a midwife?
I need to sort out the side of things as well.
Shall we make a plan?

Still calm, not positive, more neutral.

OP posts:
gumblossom · 02/06/2010 12:17

What "other" things, Rowing? Just curious. I only do 2 hours a week tutoring (which is fine by me!)but I'd like to pick up some other little things.

I was selling a bit of stuff on ebay, which helped financially, but lately I'm sick of whingey buyers who expect the world for less than $5! For the first time I got negative feedback and now I feel very put out! despite that I felt I was spending a lot of time doing it all for very little return. So back to the drawing board. Mainly just trying to spend a lot less! Unfortunately it is getting costly just feeding my lot! I can't imagine why I'd want another- just loopy I guess!I'm also hoping my eldest will soon move out _ I love him, but he's 19 and it is time for him to try a little independence. I won't kick him out, but I do think we'd all benefit from a bit of space...

Hubby is cooking tonight - yippee. He's barbequing as I type. I still don't feel 100%, but do feel like eating, so I can't be all that ill!

rainbowdays · 02/06/2010 13:56

ghengis and Deige - thank you so much for your encouragement. It was obvious from the outset the the junior doctor had not a clue what he was talking about. But it did make me wonder if the recurrent miscarriages have been a series of genetic mix-ups rather than low progesterone (as suggested by the private clinic) or any other reason. I am going to persevere anyway. If it is a series of genetic mix-ups, at least my body is effeciently doing its job with the incompatible with life ones. My dh and I would not be at all upset with having a child with special needs, so there is no reason for us to stop due to a fear of that. So the results have really just helped me to know that going for the erpc last time was the right thing, that the heartbeat had really really stopped (saw it on scan but did not want to believe it). So in many ways the trisomy 22 finding was more reassuring than worrying for me. I just need to find my golden egg that will do the job and produce a baby!

Hairy - I am glad that the doc reassured you that you are doing the right thing. If it helps do stay with us and we will do our best to distract you during your wait til september. I hope that it all goes smoothly from tomorrow, will be thinking of you.

gum - hope you are feeling a bit better today.

Rowing - well done on the remaining cool calm and collected!

deige - every other night now, remember..... just get on with following all the instructions to get up the duff.

hairytriangle · 02/06/2010 14:02

All done and feel fine. sorry to post and run but am emotionally tired. Feel absolutely fine, wasn't an ordeal, nurses and docs were lovely looks up methods of detox after methowotsit

Rainbow - insensitive doctors aside, you've got the right positive attitude - yes, your body is doing an excellent job and its not just eggs involved are there? no one ever takes into account the contribution (or lack, thereof) of the other half of the equation... Am sure, you've both got an amazing little one waiting to be born...

Hairy - Perhaps it was for the best (the medicated bit)?

(I was made to let my MC take its natural course, and just waiting for it all to come out on its own was excruciating. On top of everything, the in-laws insisted we go on holiday with them when it was all happening. So there I was, in agony, in holiday cottage, forced to keep polite 'normal' face on for intolerant MIL. Ugh, wouldn't wish that ordeal on anyone.)

Gum - How are you feeling now? I've given up on Ebay too, after a few dodgy buyers who I had to refund when they insisted they received damaged stuff , rubbish! There's no seller protection.

Hippy - happy for you, keep us posted on the ongoing signs and symptoms, so us unfortunates may enjoy a little in lieu

to Diege, Genghis, Rowing and everyone else who hasn't been posting lately...

hairytriangle · 02/06/2010 17:27

Oh Rainbowdays so sorry (have read back - thank you for your comments and good wishes) - how awful for you. There seems to be such a varied set of people out there in the medical profession and it seems you have got some rotters Big hug to you!

I really feel the metho was the best route as my hcg only went down by 1.5 from yesterday so there is something stubborn going on in there. I still feel fine and have had no side effects (and no discernable effects at all in fact!).

Diege · 02/06/2010 17:37

Afternoon! Just back from a day out in Southport with the older dds - totally fleeced as usual . Can't believe it's just day 3 of their 2 weeks hols!
Hairy glad you got through OK, though as you say you must feel emotionally and physically drained. Hope you can find time to relax and chill over the next few days. Did you say you were returning to work for a few hrs initally soon?
Gumblosson job is pretty interesting thanks. Uni-based, 50% teaching (sociology, social policy),50% research - at the moment I conducting research into midwives' perceptions of risk surrounding antenatal screening for chromosome abnormalities. Interesting stuff but quite 'heavy' too at times - final interview next week then writing up time! Did you say you teach too?Hope you feel better soon x
Rainbow sounds like you have a brilliant attitude and that you are miles ahead of the rubbish 'experts' you spoke to.
Rowing I can't imagine the mixture of emotions you must be feeling at the moment; hold on in there, we're all here for you!
Big wave to everyone else.
Have had another faint line on opk (so neg still, right?) but have loads of EWM (sorry!). Did the deed last night, so I presume tomorrow is in order? CD11 so I guess the pattern of things would sort of fit with 26/7 day cycle? .Right, better go and get dd3 and ds from nursery!

rowingboat · 02/06/2010 20:29

Hi all,

Gum, sorry the other things was a reference to the other subjects covered by the libraries I work in. I do Ebay occasionally and agree it has become too heavily weighted in favour of the buyer. It is madness that a seller can't leave a negative for a buyer. I would find it useful as a seller to know which buyers are pedantic twits who claim not to have received damaged items or even nothing.

Hairy sweetie, enormous hug for you. It does sound like the best course of action. When do you get next bloods done?

Deige that does sound a fascinating mixture. I remember you mentioning an interview with a midwife and I thought 'eh?' So that explains the interview. Now do remember to look interested during the next session, even if it is because you are watching 'Brother and Sisters'.

DSL hi again. Where have you been? Holiday?
Poor you suffering with a stiff upper lip. Crabby old MIL, not very helpful during mc.

Rainbow you seem to have found some meaning in the midst of the the madness. You sound calmer.
I think golden egg is just around the corner waiting for golden swimmer.

So the diet is going OK. I'm trying not to scoff and having smaller portions. Not sure what to have for pudding tonight.... Wanders off to look for pudding.

KiwiKat · 02/06/2010 23:09

Hippy, wonderful news! I'm so pleased for you. Will be good to see you back on the Pregnant Old Broads thread.

Rowing, best of luck. I'll be lurking, waiting to hear.

A wave to everyone, hope all is well.

x

gumblossom · 03/06/2010 05:42

Deige - just read this really interesting article about H.G in pregnancy. Thought you might like to take a look:
www.mothering.com/pregnancy-birth/medical-marijuana

rowingboat · 03/06/2010 08:31

OK I have tested and it was negative - not a surprise.
So have the blood test tomorrow, but I think it will confirm the test.
So I think the saga continues.
Anyone want to meet in Hungary?

OP posts:
Diege · 03/06/2010 09:00

Oh bugger, that must be a disappointment Rowing, even if you were thinking the worst I think I would have tested too in the circumstances though, to sort of prepare for the bloods. Would you have expected a pos by now with the type of test you used?
Gum many thnaks for the link,I'll have a look at that
Hairdresser due any minute.I must be mad,as have dds 1& 2, ds and hairdresser's 1 year all here while I have my roots done. Goodness knows what my hair will end up looking like!

liahgen66 · 03/06/2010 10:03

Hi All

rowing sorry about your neg, I have to say, I never give up till the red lady sings though so am still keeping fingers crossed for you.

I am day 11 i think and had ewcm yesterday, we swi Sunday morning, Tuesday and yesterday and dh away now till Friday night so just have to hope really. Day 11 fits with my shorter cycles so thats good right?

Hope everyone is enjoying the sunshine, taking kids to park today and hopefully get ds onto 2 wheels. Just been invited to a 21st (former step daughter) so have proper incentive to lose weight before 9th July.

Have good day all. x

hairytriangle · 03/06/2010 11:10

So sorry Rowing.

rowingboat · 03/06/2010 11:21

Hi all,

Thank you Deige and Lia, you are lovely, you guys!

I'm not 100% about the test being correct, it was an Ebay cheapie, but I feel it is right.

In some senses I feel relieved in having something concrete. At least, if this is definitely a no-go I have time to lose some weight and get on with the running. I could definitely be in better shape than I am.
Also a bit of time to think about work and what I want to do work-wise, have been coasting along because of DS.
I don't even know if I will have time to go to the blood tomorrow, because we have a school weekend away, might have to wait until Monday.
I mean if I went, they would have to phone me whilst I was on the trip and it might be awful.
Waffle waffle....
Oh I don't know.

Lia if you are up for it I am trying to watch my food intake at the moment. Could start a thread. I think there are other who might fancy a bit of support on the conception threads?

Better run, have to go to get DS, parent chat thingy today.

OP posts:
gumblossom · 03/06/2010 12:17

Just dropped in to say how sorry I am to hear about what happened in Whitehaven today. It is just horrible.

Rowing, I am sorry it was bfn on the internet cheapie. I guess I would feel the same way as you do about getting the blood results while away, but don't know if i could wait either. Sending a big hug...

gumblossom · 03/06/2010 12:20

P.S, just got back from acupuncture and can't believe it but my sinuses are clear and tummy discomfort gone...gotto love that!

doubleshotlatte · 03/06/2010 14:09

Rowing - so crummy to get another BFN even on an internet cheapie... at least the 2WW is over

Hate being 40 and not knowing if these weird symptoms are due to just old age OR withdrawal from ADs OR maybe-possibly-impossibly being up-the-duff...

Whats up with feeling so cold on a summer afternoon, sitting next to T-shirt-clad DH and DD, in a parka but no flu?

Feeling dead tired, drowsy and confused... but not for lack of sleep?

Bah! Can't wait to test on Saturday, all cheapie "early" tests so far BFN.

hairytriangle · 03/06/2010 16:04

double those sound like symptoms to me!
