Hello world!

OP posts:
Curlylox · 04/05/2010 20:35

Of course Triggles why not have just re-invited myself back on

hippychick66 · 04/05/2010 21:02

triggles and curlylox Hi. Both are very welcome .

Italiangreyhound · 05/05/2010 01:25

Rainbow thinking of you.

Rowing all the best.

Hippy Chin up, or chins up, as I like to say. It will get better.

Had an argument with DH tonight and feel very fed up. He is brilliant but we are on totally different wave lengths. Turns out I have not done such a great job of hiding my disappointment at not having another baby! We are all set to try adoption but I am not a Sandra Bullock lookey-likey, so who knows how it will go.

Waves to all, especially the newbies.

Triggles · 05/05/2010 08:19

Thank you for the welcome. DH & I are ttc'ing again for awhile, in hopes of having one more baby. We have 4 children (DS1 25, DD 23, DS2 3, DS3 9 mos), and are trying one more time. DH & I are both 44, so we are not keen to share the info that we are ttc with family and friends. They would most likely be supportive, but after having 4 losses between DS2 and DS3, we would prefer to keep it silent until after 3 mos into pregnancy.

Italiangreyhound sorry you seem to having a rough time of it right now - hope things turn around for you soon. We did look at adoption after our losses, then got pregnant with DS3 while getting started on the adoption route.

liahgen66 · 05/05/2010 11:35

Hi all

hippy I so understand where you are coming from. I had major wobble last Friday when bloody period turned up 2 days early, i was in pieces, (privately, dh has no idea it still bothers me) that I shouldn't even be having a fucking period, I should be approaching 7 mths preggers, and moaning about restless legs and swollen ankles. I am so not over it, it consumes my most waking thoughts, and the thought of not managing to get pregnant again is absolutely heartbreaking. Hugs to you, I'd like to say it gets easier and tbh when I had my other mc's it didn't seem so bad, just seems like we have so few chances as we get older, it does actually feel much much worse.

Apologies if that's not very encouraging for any newbies, I'm sure it's not like this for everyone, and I have a Doula client at the moment who is suprisingly pregnant at 44 so we know it can happen.

I'm normally such a positive person too, bubbly and cheerful but can't seem to drag myself out ofthis black hole.

Hello to anyone new and curly i remember you from somewhere.

rowingboat · 05/05/2010 13:33

Hi all,
Italian, sorry to hear about the argument. I suppose it's ineveitable when you are discussing such a 'big' topic. Are you fully committed adoption now do you think?

Hi Curly and Trig.

Curly where have you been?

Trig sounds as if you would have lots of potential babysitters there with your older children.

CD 27 for me today, no sign of AF, but usual PMS type stuff, so soon hopefully.

doubleshotlatte · 05/05/2010 15:06

Hello to Curly, Trig and linda, wonderful to meet more feisty 40+ ladies. No wrinklies here, just glowing-fabulously-fertile soon-to-be-moms

Cycle day 30 here, of a usually clockwork 28 day cycle. No sign of AF (and 2 x BFFNs). Seriously and [sad} in turns. What is going on? My body seems to have detected my above-normal obsession with itself and shut down shop and thrown away the key ....

Has this happened to any of you? Did it all turn out alright in the end?

worried...

hairytriangle · 05/05/2010 18:06

I have posted this in other threads, but I wanted to let you all know that the surgery rang me this afternoon.

Yesterday's blood tests show that the pregnancy is progressing :0

Could only speak to the practice nurse, as docs are on a jolly, but I have to ring up tomorrow at10am to get proper news.

She didn't say it was 'progressing normally' but she didn't say it wasn't

I am so excited!!!!! after that bleed it is such a shock!!!!

hippychick66 · 05/05/2010 18:52

hairytriangle Wow, so it wasn't an MC after all, just a bleed. That is fabulous news.

Quite weird actually cos last night I dreampt (or is it dreamed) that I did a preg test and it was positive and I said but i just got my period and they (????? whoever) said it was just a bleed.

I hope it all progresses ok from here. Keep us posted .

liaghen Yes that's exactly how I feel. If I was younger I wouldn't mind so much getting my period cos I'd know I had time for it to happen but my fear at all times is that it's too late.

Did someone on here say something about 50% of women ttc in their 40's would have probs and the other 50% would have the same fertility as in their 20's - did i imagine that - can't seem to find it but wanted to read it again to make me more positive. Who posted it or did I imagine it????.

hippychick66 · 05/05/2010 18:56

When I was reading back to try to find that quote I read the bit about Jollster's house being sold for asking price - well done to you Mrs. You must have done a good job at tidying up!!!

rainbowdays · 05/05/2010 20:58

Hairy - wow, that it great news.

Hippy - spooky, I had that same thought about someone here having a bleed rather than a m/c, we both must have had a sixth sense about hairy!!!!

I decided not to take the progesterone suppositories, just going to see what happens. But ARRRGGG I find is so irritating that I am so in tune with my body that I know when I have ovulated. I wish I could be in the 2ww with not knowing. Now I have the temptation of POAS next week. I promised myself that I will not test until I am at least a couple of weeks late,,,,, yeah, likelyhood of that is minimal!

Hi to the newbies here!

ghenghismaam · 05/05/2010 21:06

Hairy fantastic news!
I think it was Diege who quoted her very nice sounding consultant on the 50% stats, prob about a week ago?
Now scuttling back to the primary education boards where i am finding out how to battle for DS preferred school at appeal next week - like I need this now!!

Hi to all!

hippychick66 · 05/05/2010 21:11

Was it you diege - what was it again? i need positive input. Must try old Zita again.

genghis yeah all the other stuff doesn't stop does it. Still I guess it takes our minds off babies for 5 mins - good luck with the appeal.

Curlylox · 05/05/2010 21:22

Ah Hairy am very happy for you, please keep us posted.
Waves to doubleSL rowing liahgen and all everyone else.

Liahgen you remember me from either earlier on ths thread or a mc thread or due September thread.

rowing been hiding after mc (although was on mc thread) but am back now, yay.

doubleSL know exactly how you feel, our bodies/mother nature plays tricks with our bodies can be very disheartening. I'm trying so hard to remain relaxed and not to mentally note every bodily function but just can't help obsessing. I had rusty/af arrive 17 days after last one, I thought WTF and am convincing myself menopause is on it's way!

ghenghismaam · 05/05/2010 22:17

Hippy go back up on this page to Tues - quote from Diege is there you didn't imagine it!
DSL the cycle before my BFP lasted 42 days - unprecedented and convinced was menopause as had numerous BFNs. When AF eventually arrived, then ov on day 13 and got BFP day 33 - am hoping next cycle will do as it's told!

Triggles · 05/05/2010 23:11

hairy what wonderful news! bleeds are so scary - glad things are still going well!

linda good to see others around my age still ttc - makes me think we're not completely insane (partly yes, but not completely!)

rowingboat well, yes some babysitters, but DS1 and DIL live a couple hours away and have their DS (our DGS) who is 2wks older than our DS2, so they are quite busy. And DD has her DS (our other DGS) who is about 6 months older than our DS2, although she lives quite close and has babysat for us on occasion. But caring for 3 boys under the age of 4 is not for the faint-hearted!

double the only time my cycle seems to be thrown out is by pregnancy or m/c, so I haven't had that happen. TBH, the women in my family usually go into menopause very early (late 30s), so I was expecting to start getting erratic cycles then, but still like clockwork or close enough. Hope it all sorts out for you!

Well, we've just been through the O stage, so now we can rest for a week or so . It's our first cycle back to ttc'ing again after DS3, but wow I almost feel like we never stopped!

gumblossom · 06/05/2010 00:53

Hairy I'm so pleased for you. I did have a feeling too, that it was a bleed rather than a mc, so glad you are still preg. Now get some rest, drink plenty of water and relax!

This thread certainly does move quickly! Hello to newbies, nice to meet you.

So, Triggles, how old were you when you got pregnant with your youngest?

boy, I am so sick of waiting for AF to return.I must be one of those ladies that don't ovulate for three years if they keep breastfeeding.I'm sure it wasn't quite this long with the others, but then again, they were in daycare while I worked, so I guess there was long enough between feeds to kick start my fertility. I think I'll just have to resign myself to waiting patiently because I just can't summon up the courage to wean...I'm such a softie!

Well, I hope everyone is okay. Hang in there...it is definitely possible, it might just take a bit longer.

Hi all,
busy on here!

Gum I'm sorry it is taking so long. On the plus side, from a purely 'me' POV. I like you being here. [ducks]
I know I've said this, but I haven't said it for a week or so, but have tried agnus castus?

Trig I agree with the 3 under 4. Sounds like you would have fab family get-togethers though. You must be relieved to have missed out on the early menopause.

Ghengis are you the only person appealing for a place or do you know others? It's not much fun. I might pop over to your thread and cheer you on.

Hairy that is great news. I thought it must have been a chemical. Conception can really surprise sometimes. So what's next, do you have another blood test lined up?

Curly I'm glad to see you have recovered from the mc and are fully back on your feet. Do you actually have curly locks?

Hippy when do you start using the progesterone cream?

Rainbow good luck with not testing. Perhaps this is the time to take up the guitar or trombone, that'll keep you busy.

DSL not sure about the extended cycle. Could still be a BFP, some people take days after AF to get a positive.

Lia I'm sorry to hear this is getting you so down. I was in that place a couple of years ago and just felt so miserable, but I did come out the other end. I hope things pick up for you soon.

My news is this is CD28 and I have had quite a few PMS-type symptoms, so hopefully...

Curlylox · 06/05/2010 10:43

Fingers crossed for you Rowing and yes I do have very curly hair can be ringlety too which I think is not suitable for someone turning 43 in 19 days (yikes)! You know when I say that out loud, it feels really alien to me as surely I can't be that age

Diege · 06/05/2010 10:46

Hello all . I have been reading through but very busy at work and have struggled to keep up yet again!
Just wanted to reassurre Hippy that yes, it was my consultant who told me about the 50% of women thing - he's not a carzy dr. either (like some of those mentioned on this thread!!!) but keep very up to date with research findings and works with Prof Kypros Nicolaides from time to time. He actually gets quite cross with all the media scares stoties about women 'leaving it too late', as he says it lures women who have completed their families into a false sense of security (hence unplanned pregnancies) and depresses thoise who, for a variety of reasons, are ttc in their 40s. So, yes very good news I'd say
Hairy that is brilliant news! Let us know how things progress!
Rowing looking good! When do you plan to test? (not that I'm leading you into bad ways you understand
Well I'm only cd 9 but have had EWM, which I suppose would sort of fit in with my shorter cycles at the moment (25/26 days). Dh is away again this weekend so will have to do the deed tonight, then Sat eve when he gets back (whatever state he's in), Monday, Wednesday....I do favour the every other day thing (think Zita West goes on about how it maximises sperm quality and every day doesn't give you that much more a chance). Poor dh says the only time he 'gets any' is when we are ttc-ing - a tenny bit of truth in that
