Shiney new thread before we drop off the end of the last one!

OP posts:
bebejones · 22/04/2010 14:24

Tabitha first name & Emily Jane as middle names. Oliver first name & Robert Bern as middle names or Logan Robert Bern. I think Amelia is a beautiful name, but not sure DH would go for it. Love Elena too.

With car seats/pushchairs I wanted a maxi cosi car seat as it can fit at side of my car rather than in the middle like the old one. Then this mothercare own one which the car seat can fit onto the chassis. Hope that makes sense! I was looking into maybe getting the chassis & seat unit now for DD then getting the car seat to go on it when we have DC2! Can you tell I have too much time on my hands!! (well not really, spending too much time doing things like that instead of houseork!)

ah, misread your post. I like Oliver too, is getting popular here but DH says no cos was a famous cartoon called Oliver and Benjy years ago.
What are your DH's preferred names?

bebejones · 22/04/2010 15:26

DH likes Hannah or Emily as first names for a girl. I like both but not enough IYKWIM?!

For a boy he likes both Oliver & Logan, we had pretty much picked them out before DD was born. Both liked Gabriel but worried it was a bit too obscure. DH also likes Luke but I don't think it sounds right with our surname & the only reason he likes it is because of Star Wars

OP posts:
pipoca · 22/04/2010 15:33

I don't think gabriel's obscure. Lol at luke cos of star wars! I quite like luke. Would be lucas here, which I don't like.

I think if we had a girl it would be Isabel almost certainly. For a boy I have no idea really. I feel Alejandro was the 2nd choice for DS and I'd feel bad about a DS2 having a "2nd choice" name IYSWIM? silly probably.

Would you like a boy or a girl? I'm not fussed in the slightest 8which is funny cos before having DS it hought I'd be gutted to never have a girl, but now I'm not bothered). Think MIL would be disappointed though. Sometimes i think she thinks you put in an order and tick girl or boy or something. She's always saying " so when are you going to try for a girl?" Like as if you choose...

bebejones · 22/04/2010 15:41

Always thought I'd want a boy, especially since I might have to stop at 2. We had planned to try shettles method for a boy. Just lately though I've really been thinking another girl would be lovely, I'd just like another baby what ever flavour!! I know DH would like a boy to do boy things with though. DD is such a little tomboy but I am not letting her play rugby!! Need a DS for that! My mum was thrilled that we had a girl, said she wouldn't know what to do with a boy (I am an only child), DD is the youngest girl in the family on DH's side so she is doted on a bit there too, everyone else since has had boys!

Had you thought about shettles or anything? I think for me this whole waiting thing has been going on so long now that I'll feel blessed whatever we have!

OP posts:
pipoca · 22/04/2010 15:51

I've read about shettles but I think I'm a bit too much of a control freak and if I actively tried something like that and then it didn't work I might be more disappointed than if I'd just let nature take its course. Also have heard that it v often doesn't work, too many variables.
The control freakery is why i can't just say "oh well it'll take ages to conceive" and stop using contraception, cos once I've made the decision to stop using it I'll get all excited and before you know it be in full blown TTC mode. it's all or nothing I've learnt. i either ttc or I don't, halfway house won't work for me.
We will only have 2 as well, so I suppose a girl would be nice, but I really really truly wouldn't be at all bothered either way.

bebejones · 22/04/2010 15:58

I think before I was told I had to have medication it was easier to think I would have more than 2. Now with the medication aspect soooo much more planning is needed & if I go onto the better meds postnatal it is highly unlikely that I will be able to stop them to TTC again as the risk of me relapsing is too high. This is why I am feeling like I just want a baby and don't mind at all whether it is a boy or girl. I think the thing that puts me off shettles a bit is the timing to conceive the 'desired' sex. Just seems like it could all be a bit hit & miss tbh. Like you said, too many variables. I found last time I did go a bit scary whilst TTC didn't even realise I wanted a baby so much until we decided to try...and it was only really supposed to be halfhearted! Goodness knows what I'll be like next time?!

Wow this thread's been busy. A whole page of messages. Yep you're both right - how are we supposed to get through all these months of waiting if we can't indulge ourselves a bit! Erm names I'm none too sure about. I'm keeping a list of names I like but it changes all the time and DH doesn't like a single one of them. He reckons we have to choose one of his family names, i.e. George, John, Thomas or Charles - which narrows things down a bit! At the moment I'm liking April, Polly or Thea for a girl and Hayden, Warren or Yorke for a boy. None of these will be allowed of course. DH likes Charlie for a girl which is quite nice.

bebejones · 23/04/2010 08:31

AC - my DH's little sister is Charlotte & she gets called Charlie (DH calls her Lottie just because he knows it annoys her!) I think it really suits her she is very dramatic & cheeky, it's a nice name!

Forgot to also mention Marianne for a girl, I just love it but I know it's a definate no from DH!

OP posts:
pipoca · 23/04/2010 09:04

I like Marianne and charlotte for girls. There's a really big fashion for what I call "codger names" at the moment....I know an Alfred, Francis, Monty and I've heard names like Pearl, Edith, Hilda are big again for girls. Not keen myself.

AmandaCooper · 23/04/2010 19:00

I think Charlotte will be top of our list if I'm honest, because we both really like it. It was the name we chose for our make-believe DC when we went mystery shopper-ing at a boarding school.

pipoca · 25/04/2010 14:52

Hello, ladies.....

Monster wave of broodiness the last day or 2, and dou you know what...looked at the calendar and I reckon I'm ovulating round now. Obviously mother nature trying to get me to go for it! . But I'm still with the programme...will just content myself with perusing the baby nakes section..
Work's been crapola this month (I'm freelance) and I've been getting a bit twitchy with nothing coming in, has manifested itself in insomnia lately, which I've never suffered from. I'm tired but when I go to bed my mind's just racing. Not consciuosly worried, just can't switch off.
How's everyone else?

pipoca · 26/04/2010 20:10

where is everyone?

bebejones · 26/04/2010 20:54

Sorry been really busy last couple of days! Still here though!

Nothing new to report. Went to Asda (my idea of hell on earth) today & they have loads of deals on baby stuff atm, what's the betting when I actually need stuff they don't have anything I want/need on offer!

OP posts:
AmandaCooper · 26/04/2010 21:02

Bebe Asda is where I really naughtily bought my non-existant PFB his/her little sleepsuit. It is the Hungry Caterpiller one. I couldn't resist!

bebejones · 26/04/2010 21:17

AC- I saw that one, it is insanely cute! I nearly bought DD the hungry caterpiller dress up costume, but thought perhaps that was bordering on child cruelty!

OP posts:
AmandaCooper · 26/04/2010 21:19

My friend bought one for her new baby and posted pictures up on FB. I had to have one. I don't know why, I must be losing it! I haven't seen the dress up costume.

bebejones · 26/04/2010 22:11

Dress up costume The very hungry caterpiller is DD's favourite book & is the 'theme' for her 2nd Birthday party! I say theme, I'll make a cake & get some hungry caterpiller napkins!

OP posts:
AmandaCooper · 26/04/2010 22:42

That's cute! And caterpillar cakes are ace.

BroodyRhi · 27/04/2010 12:07

Hello,

Just started a thread bout wanting to start TTC but can't. I am currently without a baby or child of my own but DP and I are both broody and its really just common money and work sense that is stopping us TTC right now. A friend has just had his first baby, he is now 4 months and he is my broody vent, I often buy him little things etc.

Is there anyone else here who is also childless but wants not to be?

AmandaCooper · 27/04/2010 13:27

Hi BroodyRhi glad you came to join us! If you've read through the thread you'll know this already, but my situation is work/finances as well. I have no children but am pretty sure I would like some! Probably best if I do have at least one, seeing as I have been buying him/her clothes (see above)!

The earliest possible time I could TTC would be July, but we're planning on starting in December so we can get some savings built up just in case.

When do you think you might be able to try?

BroodyRhi · 27/04/2010 14:04

Would love to start in new year for late summer baby, I would of finished the course I am on then aswell so could take some time with baby before going full time but who knows! I just vent by buying things for others babies don't think I dare buy for my own yet, even though I did keep hold of last present for alot longer than was necessary just in case the line turned blue! Do you find you get fake pg symptoms? Just before every lady week I am sure I feel something different or unusual! Just torture!

BabsH · 27/04/2010 18:16

Hi Broody,

my OH wants us to wait until our wedding, which is only 13 weeks away (not that I'm counting!!!) but I would love to get preggers now, although I do know that being sick on the wedding day would be horrible, I cant wait to get started!!!!

I have little fantasies about having a honeymoon baby, I've already printed out all the lists of things you should have, my DSIL has a bunch of stuff stored away for me at my DM's house and I have worked out which nursery I would send my DC to - it's not distracting me, although wedding planning helps!!!

Don't buy a puppy though - I love my dog, but it's just made me worse!!!

BroodyRhi · 28/04/2010 12:38

BabsH lol DP and i are thinking of getting a cat!

Honeymoon baby would be lovely! now that DP has strung on me the not wanting babies till married thing I will be doing the same as you are and haveing everything crossed for the BFP on return from lovely holiday, what else is there to do on a honeymoon tho than to SWI?

AmandaCooper · 28/04/2010 18:05

I never get fake symptoms, but DH and I are fastidiously careful the last time I did a pg test I was a neurotic teen! I don't think getting a new pet immediately before you get pg is a good idea, but I know where you're coming from!
