Just a l'il update from me- have been off this thread as I was very stressed about TTC (see my other thread). My AF finally came on CD37 last period so back to square one. I'm now CD 27, been using Pre Seed and bd'ing as much as poss! Not sure how long this cycle will be but hoping not too long. Have also ordered a Clearblue FM from amazon to make life easier with guessing when I'm ovulating!

Oh Whiteroses, that sounds horrid! I hope the Mr is better soon. It's hear, hear by the way, because you like what you're hearing.

About to start the dreaded two week wait here. No idea if things are happening this month, I'm not holding up too much hope after the problems last month.

It's funny thinking about the last decade. In 1999 I was still a student, terminally single, and not a clue what to do with my life. In the following 10 years I got my degree, did a postgrad, moved home, got a rubbish job, met a man, broke up with him, decided to be single, met another man quickly afterwards, tried to be single but he was rather sweet and persistent. Ended up marrying him, bought a flat together, got responsible jobs and decided to start a family, got pregnant and lost the pregnancy, and now here we are trying again.

claireinthecommunity · 02/01/2010 18:06

Happy New Year everyone

Lots to catch up with, but I'd just like to welcome Mumnerves and WorrisomeHeart I think I remember you (WorrisomeHeart) from the waiting to TTC thread, seems a long time ago now!

And huge congratulations to Eleanora, that's fantastic news

Sorry to hear of the recent AFs and BFNs - Here's to 2010

Hobnob76 · 02/01/2010 19:16

So yesterday I got a smiley face on my OPK, today I didn't get a smiley

Have I OV'd then or am I about to OV ?

So confused!

mumnerves · 02/01/2010 19:20

Aww Yorkshire, sorry about the Af
Hopefully 2010 is your year, keeping fingers crossed for you hun!

Claire Thanks for the welcome!

addie81 · 02/01/2010 20:38

AF arrived today, at least four days early. Very disappointed, as I really thought that there was something going on in there. Have never had an early AF before so don't know what to make of it all at all. Oh well - Maybe october will be the month!

Kaloki · 02/01/2010 20:56

addie Sorry to hear that!

whiteroses Sounds like a fun night At least the year can only improve from that!

Talking about things changing, only 2 years ago I was swearing that I would never ever get married and never ever have kids. I'm now engaged, living with DP and trying for baby. I barely recognise myself!

aly323 · 02/01/2010 23:13

Hobnob, "they" say that you'll ovulate within 12-48 hours after your positive opk. I generally go negative and then have a temp rise, so I think I O right after the opk's go negative. Lucky you for catching it on time!!

Addie, sorry about af. It's strange that it came so early, especially after you felt so different. I know it sounds silly, but are absolutely sure about af. It's just that we hear so many stories about women thinking it's af, but then finding out they're pregnant(I know, I'm insane).

It's amazing how much we've all gone through in the last 10 years! May the next 10 bring us all loads and loads of happiness and good fortune!

bunnygirl80 · 03/01/2010 00:59

Whiteroses Your poor DH being so ill. I can't imagine what possessed him to wind down the window of a moving vehicle to be sick! I'm sure after cleaning up all that mess a baby will be easy.....or tell DH it's his job for the first month or so to make up for all the cleaning up after him you've done

Kaloki Can't believe your DH told your MIL when your period was late.

At least I don't have to worry about that as my DH has no idea what's going on when it comes to cycles, ovulation etc. When we first started TTC I tried to explain it, I even drew him a diagram but he still doesn't get it. He really didn't concentrate in biology at school.

Speaking of MILs, mine's coming out to stay with us next week so will have to hide thermometer and folic acid.

Yorkshire sorry about AF. At least you might still be able to get your bloods done this cycle, and you'll be one step closer to finding out what's going on.

I've also been thinking about how my life has changed over the last 10 years. I spent Millenium eve with the boyfriend I'd had since school, convinced we would eventually get married. Well I dumped him six months later, and thought I'd enjoy being single. Met DH four weeks later so that plan didn't last long! I also finished not one but 2 degrees and 2 other postgrad qualifications (I am a total nerd!), bought a house, got married, moved to the other side of the world and decided it was time to start a family. Seems like such a lot to do in such a short space of time!

I wonder what the next 10 years will bring

Hobnob76 · 03/01/2010 11:57

aly232 thanks so much, understanding all this TTC info is really hard, there's so much more to it than just having sex isn't there ?

whiteroses hope the DH is feeling a lots better now. I can deal with most disgusting things, but other people's sick is a no no!

addie so sorry that AF came.

kkas · 03/01/2010 13:27

AF is gone - so getting down to the BD!

addie i also think there might still be hope unless you are absolutely positive it is AF. I've updated you just in case it is, but let us know!

Hi folks

Just checking in - hope everyone has had a good start to the New Year. Thanks for the birthday wishes and for the welcome Claire - I remember you too! (and you're right, doesn't that thread seem a long time ago??)

Sorry to those who AF has hit - here's to a more successful cycle next time!

whiteroses I kinda know what you mean about TCOYF but to be honest, it has helped so much in just letting me understand my cycles, which has in turn made me sure (as you ever can be!) that we're not 'wasting' a cycle by BDing at the wrong time. The book also says you should be BDing at every instance of EWCM as it helps the little swimmers survive while they're waiting for egg.
Sorry to hear about your DH's illness BTW, sounds like a horrible trip! Hope he's feeling better now and you've managed to get the BDing chore done!

addie I agree with the others in tems of being sure it's proper AF. Is there any possibility of it just being implantation spotting?

Well, I realised yesterday that we've actually been trying for a month longer than I thought, as we tried for a month before I got started with temping. So that puts me at 9 cycles down with no luck.. strange to think that if we'd been successful first time I'd be ready to pop now . Anyway, having the clinic appt booked in helps a bit, although I have now convinced myself that there will be something dreadfully wrong which will mean we'll never have kids... must stop obsessing!

I've updated the list to reflect the change in cycles for me...

Its definitely proper AF - heavy and painful. Talk about adding insult to injury! I am trying to think positive, I ordered pre-seed to use this month, and I just bought a book about fertility so if that has any useful pearls of wisdom I will pass them on to you all. I am going to start charting my temp as well as using the OPK sticks.
I don't feel too bad now that AF has come and its the start of another cycle. The waiting to test time of the month is by far the worst in my view. At least once AF turns up you know where you stand.

mumnerves · 03/01/2010 17:47

Sorry to everyone who has had AF

whiteroses : hope your DH feels better soon! x

pixiestix · 03/01/2010 18:49

Aw Addie, sorry you have been hit by AF, that cycle really sounded hopeful.

WhiteRoses - OMG! What a rubbish start to the new year! I guess things can only go up from here!

I hit my first day of "high" on the Clearblue Monitor today, so once again, the madness of BDing starts for a week. DH is manfully stepping up to the challenge though He has definitely got over his initial "don't put pressure on me" attitude and is quite enjoying TTC now!!!

OP posts:
bunnygirl80 · 04/01/2010 00:07

addie sorry AF got you - your symptoms earlier this week sounded so promising.

I'm now completely unsure as to when I ov'd. Was pretty certain it was day 19, but then temps never really rose by much. Got more ewcm on days 22 and 23 so got in some extra bd just in case. Temp this morning was still not up. Yet again I concluded that my ovaries must be broken

Decided that I would take DH's temp just to see if it really is me or if perhaps the thermometer is dodgy. It gave him a riduculously low temp as well. On closer inspection the end was covered in gunk - yuk - so I gave it a good clean and retook my temp (yes I know I'm not supposed to but I'm addicted to it) and lo and behold it is now consistently reading about 0.6 degrees higher than it was. I think it was the filthy thermometer and not broken ovaries all along!!! And I can't believe that I was putting it in my mouth when it was in such a state.....am surprised I haven't caught something from it Only problem is now I don't know when temp actually rose - will assume it was the later day and only test if no AF by cd 35 (12 days after latest possible ov date)

I think I have shared tmi about the poor standards of hygiene in the bunny household Am off to bleach everything in sight to make up for it!

CJ2007 · 04/01/2010 07:27

Lol at bunny, I've had similar confusion with temps this cycle so after reading your post I quickly checked my thermometer!!!
I'm now in the horrible waiting period...
Hope those with af are feeling better.

Hoping we have some new bpf's for the new year soon.

YorkshireTeaDrinker · 04/01/2010 09:57

Morning all,

I've emerged from the hut and am ready to face a new cycle again. Thanks for all the lovely comments. It i good to know that when I am down (sometimes irrationally and unreasonably) there are a bunch of fab girls here who know just how I feel!

WhiteRoses what an awful car journey . I hope your DH was suitably appreciative of your support!

Lol at Bunny. I am also having slight doubts about my thermometer, as I sometimes get no variation in temp at all. I think I may have to consider investing in a slightly more robust thermomenter, as I think my ebay bargain might not be just up to the job.

Just back from the docs, they managed to fit me in this morning for a blood test, so that's both tests done at the happropriate time. Just a swab test for me (on Wednesday) then I've got thr first round of blood tests done. Ironically there's a 2ww for the results from the progesterone test, so it looks like I'll have two 2 week waits this month! DH is waiting on his appointment at the fertility clinic (should be next week sometime) to deliver his sample and then the first round is done.

I have been pretty impressed so far with the speed of appointments, but so far everything we've done has been GP based. Waits could get longer if we need a referal to the fertility unit, but so far I am feeling reasonably well served by the NHS. [fsmiel]

Bummer about the two-two-week waits though. One is definitely enough for me!

Yorkshire glad you've had the blood test done!

Bunny eeewww at the thermometer!

Well today Hobnob will mostly be confused! I had a positive OPK last Friday and a negative one on Saturday, so I entered this data into FF last night and FF still reckons I'm due to OV today!

I'm confused, I thought I'd read on the instructions of the CBD OPK that I should OV within 48 hours of having a smiley on my OPK ? So I'd have OV'd anytime from Friday night to Sunday night wouldn't I ?

Somebody please help! Do DH and I DTD tonight just to cover myself ? Has FF fucked up or what ?

Hello everyone, can I join? I'm on the October bus as well, and am about equal parts excited and scared! We are just starting out on the TTC journey, took the scary step today of buying folic acid and a couple of pregnancy tests (I am nothing if not optimistic!). DH actually seeming more excited than scared as well, so everything quite encouraging right now
