bunnygirl80 I love chocolate too, is it wrong to say sometimes it hits the spot better than sex

kkas I think its a good time of year too, even better since I've been able to indulge in all that christmas brings, then settle down to TTC! I agree, christmas is crap without children, I also felt that something was missing this year I remember where I was on Millenium Eve, with a different bloke (one that did the dirty on me 6 months later!) What a difference a decade makes, now I've got my lovely hubby and we're TTC our baby. So sorry the witch got you

NovemberAli massive congrats on the BFP!

WhiteRoses two yrs did feel like a bloody lifetime! But it'll be worth it to have our own baby

Calyx glad you like the term, I also find it amusing!

Kaloki sorry the witch appeared

Turkeydrumstix it is a much nicer way of putting it isn't it ?

Yorkshire your Aunt sounds very insensitive! I really need some classic comebacks for occasions such as this!

Zippys yes very restrained, too much I fear. Now we're TTC, I actually wish we'd just had a 'happy accident', I'm only on month 2 and already hate the stress of it all

Welcome Worrisomeheart, I think I recognise you from the waiting thread ?

Eleanora massive congrats! Wishing you a happy and healthy 9 months!

Sevans glad things are getting better for you

Welcome mumnerves, I?m also on cycle #2

Claire so sorry to hear you got AF

Sorry for the mammouth post, not had chance to get on for a few days!

As for me Christmas was ok, glad its over after a falling out with my brother but hey ho! I'm now gearing up for OV around 5th Jan, am starting to get EWCM, which is always a good sign, I seem to get this a few days before I OV so time to find that nice underwear and get cracking me thinks!

Hi girls. Sorry quick update from phone so just a short one. I will catch up later. Just wanted to ask advice. Still no af, now 4 days late and no signs af on her way. When do I test again, I am at the doctors next tues so may test again on Monday if no af then it will be over a week late, what do you think?

WorrisomeHeart · 30/12/2009 14:09

Zippys, I would test Monday for sure - at least then when you go to the docs you have a 'fresh' test to discuss with them... Good luck for that!

Thanks for the further welcomes folks, Hobnob yep, I thought your name was familiar too! Still waiting, although now it's for that elusive BFP...

Well, I've booked DH and I in for our tests at the London Fertility Centre on the 29th of Jan. Am nervous but tentatively excited, as it will be nice to get the ball rolling if anything needs doing...

Better get back to pretending to work...

rollerbaby · 30/12/2009 17:17

Hello everyone - it's been ages since I've posted and so much to catch up on!

Xmas was predictably bonkers driving round the country to in laws etc, eating and drinking and generally putting on half a stone.

Have been using my new CB fertility monitor and today was high fertility day 1 so lots of BD today! Great that I'm not back to work until Monday so we can make the most of the fertile time ha ha!

Zippys good luck next week - lots of people take ages to register HCG so not necessarily too late yet.

Claire sorry to hear about you BFN and hope you had a good one in spite of it.

Whiteroses good luck on the job front - I think your decision is the right one personally. There is never going to be a perfect time!

Muser hope you are gearing up for January and feeling perkier!

PS the other big news is that DH and I are getting a PUPPY! We pick him up in Feb... decided a bit of responsible 'parenting' would be good for us!! Can't wait - am buying doggy stuff and planning training at the moment... an outlet for my maternal instincts methinks.

Kaloki · 30/12/2009 20:04

honeymoo Yay! Puppy! Sounds fantastic

I'm totally guessing right now, thanks to my random cycles. I've discovered that my cycle last month was 36 days and last month was 19 days. In theory I should be ovulating the day I move house, so I'm writing off this month as I think we may be too knackered before moving to attempt anything more than sleep in bed (all available surfaces are covered in boxes )

mumnerves · 30/12/2009 20:17

Thank you everyone for the warm welcome!

kkas, not sure what info you need,
TTC #1, cycle 2 not sure what UCL and CD mean
So sorry to hear about the stress, I know how you feel, we just bd after work last cycle to get it over and done with which was quite stressful and this time have just taken it a bit less seriously. I cried when I got my period last month then felt so stupid about it Am determined not to get so hung up anymore and this month we didn't get so tense in bed or feel we had to do it solid for 7-10 days

I'm so nervous about the prospect of being a mum though, I'm guessing that's natural?

Sorry everyone if I don't reply to any of your posts, still trying to get my head around the abbreviations and catch up, but you all seem like such a friendly bunch I felt I just had to post!

Kaloki · 30/12/2009 20:22

UCL is cycle length and CD is what day you are in your cycle. It's very confusing getting used to the abbreviations on here! There's a link at the top of the forum which helps with some

mumnerves · 30/12/2009 20:31

Kaloki: Thanks, I got the main ones from the link but couldn't find those 2

UCl is then 25-28 and CD is 22 but I don't think I'm there this cycle just feel like a normal period coming on and am restraining myself from reaching for the first response

I'm also 33 and worried I've left it too late

Kaloki · 30/12/2009 20:34

I know people much older than you who've had a first child despite a lot of drug abuse done to their body! Try not to worry too much, I know it's easier said than done!

mumnerves · 30/12/2009 20:39

Kaloki: hugs
Thank you so much for the reassurance, I can't talk to anyone but DH atm as my mum had 2 mc when I was little and I'm just so paranoid about pregnancy. I also don't want the constant questions, so this site is so so appreciated!

Kaloki · 30/12/2009 20:40

I haven't properly told anyone IRL right now, for a variety of reasons people will think I'm being irresponsible. So I'm quite reliant on MN too

turkeydrumstix · 30/12/2009 20:48

Oh Sevans I can't believe you are having such an awful time. I had no idea that a MC could be like this.

Worrisome - I agree that if tests will clear up any worries that you have then you should go for them. I'm on cycle 7 too but I have realised over the weeks that I don't ov anywhere near the time that I originally thought, so alot of those months were "wasted". On to a more scientific approach now! If its not too personal a question, are private tests very expensive? I may need to try them myself if I have another 7 months of this waiting!

Kaloki - holy shit, CL 19-36 days! I can't work out what my body is doing when I'm only five days late, I couldn't cope with that at all.

Honeymoo - a puppy!! Jealous!

Hello Mumnerves! Don't worry, I cry most months when AF arrives, and at the same time am scared shitless whenever there is the possibility that I am up-duffed! TTC is very emotionally draining, isn't it?

I really must think of a new years name, any suggestions anyone?

Kaloki · 30/12/2009 21:00

turkeydrumstix I've given up trying to understand my body, though DP is insisting on seeing the GP if my body has another random cycle this month.

bunnygirl80 · 31/12/2009 05:05

Hi everybody

I officially no longer have any idea what's going on with my body and I'll award a prize to the person who can figure it out!

Last month I ov'd on day 19 - got plenty of ewcm, a temp dip on that day and then a massive temp rise the following day. This month all signs seemed to suggest the same was going to happen - noticed ewcm on days 16,17,18 and temp dip yesterday. But no big temp rise today, in fact it's still lower than every day this month except for yesterday. So now I have no idea if I have ovualted or not - feel as though I have as no longer feel mega horny and cm has dried up but the thermometer says no! aaaaaaarrrrrrrrgggggggghhhhhhhh

Am trying not to read too much into this - I am probably just overreacting as I am prone to do about everything in life. I'm such a control freak normally and this is the one thing I can't control at all. Just feeling quite about it all today.

I think that's quite enough of me ranting on about myself. How is everybody else?

Hope you all have a good new years eve. See you all in 2010- hopefully I'll be in a better mood

WorrisomeHeart · 31/12/2009 07:30

honeymoo - so exciting about the puppy! What breed are you getting, or are you going for a pup from the pound?

mumnerves am totally with you about the stress of ttc - I always tell myself not to get my hopes up, but then feel crushed whe AF arrives.. daft really but when more and more people around me tell me they've got a BFP after not even trying, it gets a bit frustrating!

turkeydrumstix Not too personal a question at all! If you can't ask on MN, where can you? We're booked in at the London Fertility Centre which is on Harley St and Portland Place. For the initial consultation, DH's semen analysis, a scan for me, and bloods for me it will be about £650. For us, it seems a small amount to pay to hopefully remove the not-knowing factor. Also, DH had an op for an undescended teste at the age of 11 and although he doesn't think that will cause any problems, I have to say I'm starting to wonder... I'll let you know how I get on - first impressions were good as the booking in lady spent about 20 mins on the phone with me yesterday while she explained all the tests and got us booked in.

Well, NYE and no AF yet.. but she's due yesterday or today so I'm not getting worried/excited yet.. am more stressed about the dodgy chinese I had last night which seems to have left it's mark... yuck! Hope you all have a fantastic NY's!

zippys · 31/12/2009 09:33

Hi another lightening post from me as heading out the door. CD1 today was so sure this was the month as 5 days late!!!! Catch up later.

YorkshireTeaDrinker · 31/12/2009 09:52

Morning all,

It's sod's law, but the one month I'm hoping that AF will turn up on cue, there is no sign! I'm only a day late and I have had 30 day cycles before, so I'm not excited, as I expect it'll arrive some time today / tomorro (I am experiencing the full range of pre AF symptoms). But I'm bloody annoyed cos I was supposed to be at the docs for my second blood test today (they can only do this one during your period). So I've had to ring and cancel and docs is now closed for 4 days, so if AF turns up tonight, I've probably missed my chance to test this month - bah!

So as consolation for now having to wait until cycle 16 until I find out if there's anything wrong with me, I get to take my 5 months pregnant friend shopping for maternity clothes today! In RL I am generally very good at being not especially bothered about having a baby or not and most people don't know we are TTC (or if they do, I've let them know that we are just going to see what happens - don't really mind either way), but this morning I feel the need to share with all you lovely ladies that sometimes waiting to get pregnant totally sucks!!!

I think I feel better now.

Anyway, enough about me, Mumnerves, don't worry about being over emotional and irrational, it affects mosts of us (see above ) and definately don't worry about being too old, I'm 33 as well and I reckon we've got a few years of fertility left in us (although I occasionally feel like a barren old hag) and even if we do have problems (speaking about myself here) there's plenty of time left to fix 'em.

kaloki I agree with your DP, it probably is best to go see your GP if your next cycle is still alover the place. It can take a while to establish a regular cycle after coming off the pill (is that what you've done, or were you using something else?), so if you go too soon they will probably just tell you to wait a bit longer, but I think 4 cycles is a reasonable length of time to wait.

WorrisomeHeart - good idea to get the ball rolling on the testing. It will take another cycle for you to have the relevent tests done (much more straight forward for the blokes though ) as they will need to take bloods at the start and middle of your cycle. Hopefully there won't be a problem, but I think it will set your mind at ease if you get the all clear. I have always been prepared for it to take a long time, but I think it might be easier to be patient if you know there is nothing actually preventing you from concieving (and if there is, you'llhave found it and can fix it )

Pixie lol at "at the same time am scared shitless whenever there is the possibility that I am up-duffed!". I know what you mean - I am prepared to go to all sorts of lengths to get pregnant and yet I'm pretty sure I'll be terrified if I ever find out that I am!

You should automatically get tests on the NHS after 12 months of trying. If you don't want to / can't afford to go private, maybe give it another 2 or 3 cycles and then go to the GP and tell them you've been trying for a year. I don't generally advocate ripping off the NHS, but I think 10 months of serious TTC is long enough, and the year limit is fairly arbitary (they have to draw a line somewheer) so just tell 'em you've been trying for a year and you should get an automatic referal.

zippys Sorry to hear that

yorkshireteadrinker I came off the coil. This is such a shock to the system, as I've been regular as clockwork since I was 11. Though strangely, my last cycle on the coil was late too.

WorrisomeHeart · 31/12/2009 11:24

Sorry to hear the AF has struck zippys Although on the (very small plus side) no holding back on the NYE festivities!!

mrscinco · 31/12/2009 11:43

CD 1 for me so out of the game for this month. Having had a talk with DH have decided to take the pressure off and just see what happens rather than actively trying. Don't know about anyone else but feel as though my life is on hold waiting for a baby that might not come. Really want to start our own business but have been scared to do so thinking best to have security and mat pay! Just need to get on with it otherwise we'll always regret it.

So going to start 2010 on a positive note and make loads of plans for our future - am also 33 so fingers crossed plenty of time yet anyway.

Sorry - very me me me and haven't actually posted for long so I doubt this of interest really (!) but will be avoiding MN and any googling of baby related stuff for the forseeable future.

Zippys - commiserations for you too.

Worrisome - good luck, sounds positive that you're late.

All the best everyone else - and happy 2010!x

Kaloki · 31/12/2009 11:57

mrscinco Know that feeling. Don't stay away too much, come back sometimes and let us know how you are.

CurlyCasper · 31/12/2009 14:58

Just a quickie to say congrats to nov and el and wish you all a very happy new year when it comes. I hope it's the year for you all! x

rollerbaby · 31/12/2009 18:34

Evening all, just a quick one to wish you all a jolly good evening and hope the hangovers aren't too severe tomorrow.
