Welcome everyone from the old 'Mid 30s and TTC for the first time' thread. And welcome newbies too. Don't mind the poster in the corner dipping pregnancy test sticks into her glass of gin.

OP posts:
VeryAnnieGertie · 23/06/2009 11:10

Gawd - in that case I absolutely Know Nothing about this gettin' up the duff lark.

Break a leg on the exchange, wildfig - where are you moving to?

wildfig · 23/06/2009 11:23

Oh, sign up to Fertility Friend, they'll boss you around like no one's business, plus you get to nose on the charts of other, much more obsessive people, which will make your own efforts fall into the 'we're just relaxing and seeing what happens' bracket, even if you're doing it with a stopwatch and portable scaffolding.

New house is nearly in Wales, deep in cider country. That is my alternative summer drink of choice now, after a nice clinky g&t. [Daily Mail elderly mother disclaimer: ...or it is when I am drinking, which is approx twice a month, depending on company.]

donttrythisathome · 23/06/2009 11:28

Oh sorry Aussie it was actually Laurie and nocoffee I meant to harrass!

Laurie my last cycle was 32 days too and am on day 30. Have period pains since Saturday but have grasped at geeky's saying that she had period like cramps as a sign.

There is no end to my pathetic-ness (what is the correct word?!)

ski don't you dare slope orf to asmuggymummys thread. It will turn into the Lat Stabd at the Old Corral here if all the preggers ones leave!

Preggers ladies are permitted to lurk, and occasionally post, on other threads, subject to approval. But you belong to us

wildfig that must have been sad for you on the other thread, hang in there gal.

donttrythisathome · 23/06/2009 11:30

Oooh I loves a Westons cider I do. Or that scarey looking green goblin one mmmm.

donttrythisathome · 23/06/2009 11:31

Ahem..Last Stand

Aussieng · 23/06/2009 11:40

thank goodness donttry - I was feeling the pressure!

wildfig · 23/06/2009 11:41

Donttry Oh, that is definitely a Sign. Testtesttesttest.

Also, Last Stand at the OPK Corral should prob be the title of our next thread...

Cosmosis · 23/06/2009 11:55

Brilliant title for thread 3!

VeryAnnieGertie · 23/06/2009 12:02

House deep in Wales does sound dreamy - I do remember you mentioning it now (though not much penetrates the gin haze). Quite enjoyed some pear cider recently, can't remember the make. For non-gin days I hanker after a Fentimann's Ginger Beer.

Believe the correct term is geriatric mothers - though back in the day when this was used, it was applied to first time mothers over 26.....

skihorse · 23/06/2009 12:09

donttry I had period like cramping from 6DPO until I tested at 14DPO...

YOU"RE UP THE DUFF!

Geekylass · 23/06/2009 15:08

Guys, I have no intention of sloping off to other threads (although I admit I've joined the Due February 2010 thread, but only so I can see my name up in lights!). You are more my kind of gals, and you have to do my share of drinking for me! Anyway, I thought I had to be your guinea pig for this foray into the unknown?

Just so glad to be sticking it to the Daily Hate DETERMINED to have a successful pregnancy just to show them!

ski it's quite surreal, isn't it? I've known for a couple of weeks now, but because no-one else knows apart from OH it doesn't feel like it's actually happening. I suppose it'll sink in tomorrow when I have to tell the dr.

donttry I'm still getting those cramps - keep thinking 'oh, my period is about to start' and then remember I'm actually up the duff! Tis bizarre. Will be back to nag you to test in 2 days [excited emoticon]

wildfig best of luck with the exchange - new place sounds like heaven!

More tests, come on guys - it's not like it's going to go away if you ignore it you know!

Aerie · 23/06/2009 18:16

Hi Everyone,

Thought I'd swing by the new pad and have a nosey - nice and cream I see, good work!

Congrats to all the PG-but-in-denial ladies, there must be something in the water gin this month ....

Don't know if you remember me, but I was the one with the previously reluctant, but now keen spouse, who was putting off ttc as I was currently unemployed (boo to company who made me redundant!).

I think it's you Cosmosis who is in a similar predicament, so you have my sympathies - damned if you do, damned if you don't and all that..... anyway, I appear to now have a job lined up at long last, so can join you all for real!!!

What's a respectable time to wait after starting my new job before I unleash the A game on DH? a day, a week, a month?

triggerhappybaby · 23/06/2009 19:41

yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay pregski

donttrythisathome · 23/06/2009 20:41

Aerie don't wait at all, break out the A Game and congrats on the new job. Who knows how long it might take to get up the duff and as someone else said there is never a good time.

Will hold fire on POAS until Friday (already got a BFN on Sunday).

I am thinking my cramp and bloatedness may just be wind as I am a farter supremo.

laurie CANNOT believe you hold it in in front of DP! I tried that for the first flushes of the relationship but was helpfully informed that I just fart in me sleep anyway!

Mortification (at the time - now don't give a shite!). I draw the line at "doing me toilet" in front of him..for now...if I get a BFP I can let it all rip as he's stuck with me then. Evil cackle

skihorse · 23/06/2009 21:14

donttry thank GOD there's another farter here. I read in horror about laurie holding in her farts for 13 years. 13 years?

I mean there are limits right? You don't do them in their face or dutch oven them... but I'm not going to leave the room every time I need a Lady Pump.

donttrythisathome · 23/06/2009 21:31

What, you don't fart in their face? Though it was a sign of true affection. {confused emoticon]

And the dutch oven was my bed every night. DP has now insisted on separate duvets.

SkaterGrrrrl · 23/06/2009 22:18

Did you exchange on your house wildfig? God I love cider, will you make your own and send us all a bottle at Christmas? Cornish Rattler is my favourite!

Hi again Aerie.

Why is our old dead thread still an "Editors Pick"?

OP posts:
Nocoffeenoworkee · 23/06/2009 22:38

Oooh, look at how busy this new fartin' drinkin' peein' on sticks forum is. I love it already!

Sorry to disappoint but I'm holding off peeing on sticks for a few days yet - DH is away and I don't fancy delivering any form of yay or nay via the medium of text. I'm now 5 days late with nips from hell and have had cramping for the last 3 weeks (although it disappeared a few days ago so what's going on there?) but am resolved, yes RESOLVED goddamit, not to test until le weekend [polishes not-POAS halo]

Clinkies ladies - mainlining babydust as we speak

laurielou · 24/06/2009 08:12

nocoffee 5 days late? Sounds like you're cooking, lady.

Me, I'm either 3 days late, on time or still 3 days to go, depending on which of my previous 5 cycles you choose to go by. Which is why I'm not going to POAS just yet.

wildfig - did you exchange? Hope so (fingers crossed).

I have meetings & training all day today, selfishly getting in the way of constant gusset checking, so I'll catch all you lovely ladies tomorrow, x

skihorse · 24/06/2009 08:17

Well I've been counting up over the last 24 hours and realise I've had nearly every symptom going over the last 2 weeks except sore boobs. But of course when you're LOOKING for symptoms it's so easy to read something in to everything - when there can be a logical explanation. E.g., my nips have been like bullets - but I work in an airco office...

Spent all last night with "flutterbys" running up and down my uterus. I've read the sensation described as "bubbling". It's like when you've got chronic diarrhea and you feel that bubbling in your gut.

Am on a bit of a downer and have just had a cry. I have a difficult relationship with my parents but I thought my dad was "on my side". Anyway, I sent him a text this morning saying "No skiing for me next year, but good news for you. You're going to be a grandfather late Feb". He replied with "That's a big responsibility for you. I'm off to work now."

VeryAnnieGertie · 24/06/2009 09:18

Oh ski - perhaps you just caught him off guard and he couldn't think straight at that moment. I hope he realises and comes back to you later today with some proper congrats. Some parents find it really hard to accept their children are of an age to actually do stuff like this. As a much more minor example, when we got engaged, DH's Mum was passing through London (they live abroad) and we had to practically force her to meet up with us (you couldn't have kept my parents away with bear-traps) and when she saw my shyly proffered ring she said "oh, you've got one of those already have you?" We're fine now, but I think she felt I was rushing her first-born baby into something he was too young to do. ditto several comments over our marriage about how she's "too young to be a grandparent".

I really hope he comes through for you today - I think he will once he's had time to get used to the idea. And we're all thrilled for you! Though I know that doesn't count for much when RL issues arise.

VeryAnnieGertie · 24/06/2009 09:20

ps sorry for rambling on about self at this time.

triggerhappybaby · 24/06/2009 09:42

Ski my father-in-law was the same - he said 'Oh right well that's a turn up' and that was more or less it. However............................................................................................. .................................................................................................... ............................................................................

Did a test this morning, the morning of my darling mum's 70th birthday, and I am officially preggerhappybaby for the purpose of this thread!! Decaff coffees all round!!!!

skihorse · 24/06/2009 09:54

TRIGGERRRrrrrr! I hope my tips from the fertility clinc about using the correct hole were inspirational!

You'll need to put that g&t back on the sideboard though.

As for my dad, he's not particularly emotive at the best of times. I should've perhaps waited until he's half-cut after golf on Saturday.

skihorse · 24/06/2009 09:56

blimey, us oldies are doing quite well this week aren't we?
