Hi Stac. Absolutely no monitoring at all in terms of blood tests and scans - and this is at a world famous NHS fertility centre...

I have to go back at the end of June so they can change the dose if I haven't had a period by then (they told me that if I have a period within 6 weeks of starting the tablets then it shows I am ovulating. Hmm...)

Clure · 26/05/2009 22:40

welcome pinkypanther sorry to hear about mc. I'm not being offered any monitoring either. I might just ask GP to do a 21 day blood test, he may just send me away with a flea in my ear but it can't hurt to ask my next appointment with consultant early august. Anyway you should get lots of support and advice from this thread if you need it xx

MamaMaiasaura · 26/05/2009 22:45

Clure - hello yes i started tonight too. Nice that we are at same place. Took 150mg in the end. was considering 150 for cd2 and 3 and 200 for 4 & 5 then back to 150. Will re think this though as seen comment by attila

Attila - thanks for advice, i thought it was 200mg max dose which was why i was considering it. Just want to give it a really good go to counter act almost countaer act any suppresion of egg release due to breastfeeding. Also my CM has been really good on the clomid still so wasnt too worried that it would have a neg affect. Is there any danger you know of by taking 2 days on a higher dose.

Stac - fingers crossed this is going to be lucky for us all. Hope you bloods go well.

peju25 · 26/05/2009 22:52

im on cd24 tommorow...too early to test??? trying to hold off!! sooo want this but think i may be making symptoms appear!! Took bra off tonight and ow my bbs hurt!! also am sure i was feeling sick earlier!

AttilaTheMeerkat · 27/05/2009 08:23

Peju - I would hold off testing anyway. Breast discomfort can be a side effect of clomid usage.

AttilaTheMeerkat · 27/05/2009 08:27

Hi awen,

re your comment:-
"Is there any danger you know of by taking 2 days on a higher dose".

Am not sure but in any event if you've been prescribed the 150mg I would stick to that for the duration and not deviate from that dosage.

AttilaTheMeerkat · 27/05/2009 08:29

Hi Paddington,

re your comment:-

"Anyone know what happens after 6 cycles on clomid? Do they put you on more or go for other treatment".

After six clomid cycles other treatment options are usually looked at as clomid resistance can be seen in PCOSers. Two possible options on from clomid include injectible drugs and ovarian diathermy surgery.

paddington21 · 27/05/2009 09:16

Hi Attila the injectible's does that mean i inject myself? And the surgery what does that mean? Due on tomorrow and think the pains are kicking in... 3rd month done now i hear the success rate goes down after this? Anyone else got any thoughts on it?

Good luck Stac

Hope and dust to all... will update tomorrow on any period news!

peju25 · 27/05/2009 11:45

well i caved and did a test....as expected BFN

onto the next step i guess..

amelied · 27/05/2009 13:29

Hi Peju25 - is Day 25 a bit early? Dont give up hope yet.

KiwiKat · 27/05/2009 13:53

Hi all, just popping in to say hi. As Amelied says, Peju, day 25 is pretty early, so don't get down. Give it a couple more days at least, and you never know. Didn't someone recently have a couple of negatives before they had a BFP?

stac14 · 27/05/2009 14:12

Hi paddington
I didnt even ov until the third cycle of clomid so dont get disheartened, I hope its not true that the chances are less lol, if you go onto ask jeeves the search engine you may find info about stats

kiwikat I think your right someone did have a couple of negatives before thier bfp.

peju25 How long have you been on clomid? I am getting sore boobs just now too and have felt sic for the past week but I am only on CD20 trying not to symptom spot as it drives me mad lol If no af try again in a couple of days

Awen A girl on the other thread I am on too clomid CD2 150mg, CD3&4 200mg CD5&6 150mg and she ov'd that month for the first time, she says she didnt have any extra side effects, this was her 3rd cycle of clomid, but I have stuck to 100mg and ov'd on 3rd cycle so who knows may give you the kick start you need

pnikypanther I would request monitoring as clomid isnt always great for people with pcos, can cause your ovaries to be over stimulated

clure Hows af treating you? Any clomid side effects? Hope your well xxx

amelied Whats been happening with you?

attila I was wondering if I will keep oving now that I did last cycle as it seems they stop doing bloods after the first ovulation(have heard from other girls who's docs have stopped monitoring)I have still to go for CD21 bloods but am dreading being disappointed this month, thanks

Hope everyone else is well xxx Sorry for such a long postxxx

stac14 · 27/05/2009 14:14

awen that should say took clomid lol think I was trying to type too fast

amelied · 27/05/2009 14:29

Hi Stac - just trying to keep out of mischief - think I changed the list wrongly and you had to tidy it up for me .

Started the Cambridge Diet last Thursday as the hospital are moaning about my BMI for the HSG at the end of July so decided to get proactive - have my first weigh in tomorrow night - wish me luck!

Still using my EFT to keep me positive; apart from that no other news.

Looking at the bottom of the list - couple of gals nearing the end of the 2ww - good luck and keep us informed.

stac14 · 27/05/2009 14:36

Hey amelied
Whats the Cambridge Diet like? I've lost nearly a stone just by going for walks every night, I try to do about 40 mins at a time, weekends off of course lol I will keep my fingers crossed for you, let us know how you get on xxx

peju25 · 27/05/2009 15:07

Hi Stac ive been on clomid on and off for the last year...took 2 lots had a break 2 more then another break and just taken last lot. Felt i needed to have a break so as not to get a one track mind! I havent had any symptoms from clomid on any cycle maybe i was lucky!!

Since i tested today am sure i am getting af pain on its way! still got a slight hope it might not and i just tested too early - will wait and see if i end up being late before i test again - going on hols next thurs so will leave it till then!

fingers crossed! and babydust to you!

peju25 · 27/05/2009 15:09

know what you mean about symptom spotting too - but if you like doing it check out twooweekwait.com it has stories with symptoms that ended up in BFP and lots with peeps using clomid!

amelied · 27/05/2009 15:12

Hi Stac

It is actually ok - you dont have to work out what to eat, you just have your two shakes a day and a chocolate bar to eat and 3 litres of water. It is hard the first three days which is when all the carbs come out of your system - like a detox. Im pants at sticking to anything but I can say, hand on heart, I have with this.

What I have noticed though is the amount of bloody adverts that are on TV for food - especially the Dominos ones (cos of BGT) and I heart Dominios BUT it is for a good cause - me trying to get pregnant so it has to help.

I have been to two social occasions over the w/e and just sticked to water and avoided the buffet table - was chuffed with myself fo that! I have also been walking two miles most nights and at the w/e. Have downloaded audiobooks onto my i-phone so it doesnt seem like a chore.

OracleInaCoracle · 27/05/2009 15:23

hello ladies!

scan was a mixed bag. 3 follies on tubeless side and 2 on tubed side. official line is to abstain this month. there is a v small risk of egg travelling across from tubeless side. but tbh the odds are so long that we are going to try anyway. am i mad? we've waited so long and dh and i think its a risk worth taking.

amelied · 27/05/2009 16:22

Hi Lissielou

As I said to Kiwikat when she put out the same question - GO FOR IT! Life is too short and in all probability they wont all fertilize.

That's my humble opinion

OracleInaCoracle · 27/05/2009 16:42

totally agree. if it were the other way round I might feel differently, but the odds of the egg travelling are v small.

hope28 · 27/05/2009 16:45

hi, just had my very first day 21 test, result was under two , my periiods are very irregular so my gp wants too wait until next one too determin when too have next test and discuss clomid. anyone have similar experience???

Clure · 27/05/2009 17:04

hope haven't been offered any CD21 bloods this time, my periods are too erratic. I can sympathise with your frustration at having to wait. I'm not sure what you scoring of 2 means though I'm sure there's someone here who can offer more than me!

stac hi, are you nearing another cd21 blood test? Fingers crossed for you

lissielou go with your instinct.

amelie well done on your will power and good luck with the diet - such a worthy cause.

peju will you do another test?

Well ladies I am in pain, I tried to lift a big bag of sand to put into DD's sandpit yesterday and have pulled so many muscles across top of my back. It hurts like mad and am walking like I have rod up my back. took first clomid last night. Had a hot night but was wakeful due to back pain. hope all of you ok

baby dust xxxxxxxx
