triggerhappybaby · 13/06/2009 13:42

nah, not on a Saturday

triggerhappybaby · 13/06/2009 13:42

Thoughts I mean.... oh I've ballsed this right up haven't I

triggerhappybaby · 13/06/2009 13:46

OK that wasn't helpful I'm going to blame the fact that I've been non-stop since 8 this morning doing household shite and having stupid petty set-to's with DP, the useless waste of space gorgeous hunky spunk-donator. Just about to take my souffle out of the oven but I wanted to tell Cheggers to get the hol and the wedding out of the way so that you can savour the taste of the gin/sangria. Then go at it like a bull at a gate.

wildfig · 13/06/2009 18:24

love the idea of a hit squad of 30-something women in gloves and veiled hats descending on ropes from helicopters, armed with magnolia paint and Bombay Sapphire, ready to transform any house into An Appropriate Residence to Bring up a Mid-Thirties Child. Done and done in three hours, with one of us casually chucking a black cat into the sitting room as a finishing touch/calling card.

cheggers I'd say go for the holiday/wedding, on the grounds that you might not get time to do it again once you're encumbered with offspring, and, as has been pointed out, the chances of you begetting a Euromillions sprog while on holiday will be exponentially increased. You do have loooooaaaaddds of time (relatively speaking) and now you know what's going on, you can get it all planned out. Twins not at all uncommon...

I went for my day 3 bloods yesterday, so am being slightly more proactive about all this. Tried to cheer myself up afterwards by going to an Orla Kiely sample sale which was rammed with trendy mums and pushchairs and screechy kids (ie, not the ideal place to go after infertility tests). After twenty stressful minutes, decided that one advantage of being child-free was not needing to buy wipe-clean handbags in babysick-friendly prints, and left. Lulu Guinness online sale now on!

SkaterGrrrrl · 14/06/2009 23:00

Hello thread! Phew you lot have been busy!

""

Dealer is such an ugly word, cosmosis. I prefer 'hedonism facilitator'.

Guilty food pleasures: white chocolate in any guise. I have the sweet tooth of a 7 year old girl. Having said that, Skihorse I see you liking salad and raise you growing my own salad ... its cheap and tastes better than shop salad!

"whether we get cracking straight away or wait another cycle so we can go on a holiday we planned in august and a mates wedding...?"

I've spent a year putting off TTC because there were always weddings and holidays etc. Cheggers, I now figure that there will always be weddings and holidays, and if we waited for the perfect free time to get PG that time would never come.... I reckon better to crack on with breeding and maybe miss one or two events.

"How many of us would go for a home birth?"

Yeah I'm tempted .. I read Naomi Wolf's Misconceptions about the medicalisation of birth and got all shouty and cross. I like the idea of labouring in (relative) privacy, not having to share a bathroom with other mums afterwards when my undercarriage resembles the battle of Hastings, having food and drinks on demand and being able to fall asleep beside SkaterBoy afterwards. But you know, each to her own and everyone should choose what works for herself.

skihorse · 15/06/2009 07:58

skater yep... grow my own too... and tomatos and peppers and strawberries.

I'm still all pro the home birth but I'm terrified that because of my advanced years they're going to try and pressurise me in to going in to hospital - so I think I'm going to have to LOUDLY and forcefully dictate that this will not be happening. A fear I'll have a fight on my hands.

I'm now CD21/26 and trying desperately not to symptom spot especially as I fell asleep on the couch at 6pm last night.

skihorse · 15/06/2009 08:01

I also got totally "weirded out" yesterday when I took a look over in Relationships. Half the stuff seems to be "my OH hit/spat/punched/kicked me but I know he'd never do it again" vs. "is it OK to accidentally on purpose get pg?". Depressing stuff. Isn't there anyone left who has a happy and honest relationship? Or are we all too far gone on the drink/drugs to notice?

SarahAbroad · 15/06/2009 08:14

skihorse, the ones with the healthy relationships are all here talking about TTC instead of hanging out on "Relationships" worrying about theirs.

Feel like a bad slummy mummy already--can't garden for sh*t and while I might manage tomatoes, salad would be completely out of the question!

I am on CD24/28 or so and desperately trying not to symptom-spot too. We're off to Glastonbury on Saturday (we're volunteering so get to go early and get all the volunteer bits out of the way early so we can enjoy the festival). I am thinking I'll pack LOTS of tampons AND a pregnancy test (although I am struggling to imagine peeing on a stick in the middle of a field (portaloo or no).

skihorse · 15/06/2009 08:32

Oh Sarah I'm so sorry, clearly as you're off to Glastonbury and will only be able to do your toilet in a hastily dug hole in the ground you will get the heaviest period ever. That or you'll spend the entire time thinking "ohmygod I'm pg I can't drink/eat that half cooked burger and I need to pee on a stick N.O.W!"

triggerhappybaby · 15/06/2009 09:08

"do your toilet"??

oh that's tickled me almost as much as the misheard lyrics in Chat have done this morning!!

Cosmosis · 15/06/2009 10:29

Lordy the first few pics in that house look like you would be living an a womb

Aussieng · 15/06/2009 11:55

BabyFAIL - back to CD1 for me

Made it to CD26 this time. According to Toni Wechsler I am lucky because I have a short cycle so this gives me lots more chances to concieve each year Can I have my money back please?

CD1 AND Monday morning coinciding???? [WTF emoticon]

Anyway positives:

I am going to a cocktail party on Saturday and can now drink copious amounts of sloe gin and champagne cocktails...

March babies are definitely where it is at...

Aussieng · 15/06/2009 11:56

PS I'm off to book a skiing holiday for January

Aussieng · 15/06/2009 11:56

Or since I have zero £££'s look at brochures and set my heart on a skiing location for January - will that work as well?

laurielou · 15/06/2009 12:14

aussie rubbish at CD1 & Monday morning, .

Enjoy your cocktail party on Sat, you deserve it.

Well going on from previous discussions about the way to conceive is to act like a teenage chav, based on my Sat I should be up the duff with triplets! I'm ashamed to admit I went to a house party, got rip-roaringly drunk, DP had to carry me shoe-less to the car, then pull over on the hard shoulder for me to be sick (such a waste of good alcohol), I crawled up to bed, managed to undress & fell asleep naked apart from my jewellery & full make up. I'm very ashamed as it was all at the wrong time of the month & as I speak a little bean could be drunkenly floating in a sea of wine & champagne.

But I'd got to the stage where I'm sick (literally) & tired of putting everything on hold while TTC, its been too long.

Hello, my name is laurielou & I'm a disgraceful old lush.

skihorse · 15/06/2009 12:39

Aussieng my CD26 cycles also try and tell me that I get lots of chances... so far 8 chances of BABYFAIL. Tsk.

I want to go skiing in January to the rockies. Now if I book my Air Canada flights right now I'll get a good price. I will then get a BFP. I'm thinking of just doing German/Austrian alps by car...

Cosmosis If I were to buy that house I wouldn't need painkillers during my home birth - all my senses would already have become numb.

laurielou I know what you mean. This is my 8th month of trying and I'm getting more relaxed about it now. If I want a bloody G&T I'll have one (even during 2WW!). Clearly what I really ought NOT to be cutting back on are acid-house raves, staying awake for 36 hours and having bumsex with strangers. Oh... maybe not the last.

wildfig · 15/06/2009 12:47

Hello, you disgraceful old lushes! Laurie that sounds like a great party; aussieng that sounds like a good one coming up! Sloe gin and champagne. Numnumnum. I don't think you should put too much on hold while trying to get pregnant. I mean, heroin, yes; the occasional party, no. I'd quite like any child of mine to be conceived via some merry, possibly messy, frolicking following a excellent night out, instead of through a miserable duty shag - start as you mean to go on, no?

In defence of the much-derided NHS, when it gets moving, it does get moving. I had my blood tests done on Friday, called in for a different appt at 9.10am today, and the results were already back - my LH and FSH levels were both in the normal zone, so that's a relief. I've got to go for day 21 bloods, to check progesterone levels. Luckily, this time didn't get the teenage doctor, just a nice lady who didn't even sit me down to explain about having sex with my partner.

VeryAnnieMary · 15/06/2009 12:49

Boo to BF Aussieeng - but as a long-cycler it is soo frustrating to have to wait and wait for each fertile window to come round. Still no BF for me though I am feeling really sorry for myself this morning, Monday blues and can feel work stress mounting. Did get drunk at the weekend too - think I should be putting more effort on the raucus front though to live up to laurilou's standards.

Wildfig I was at the OK sample sale too! - though not till Sunday afternoon - loads of stock and only one buggy - we spent ages deliberating, and I came away with a matching purse and cardigan...which also match my OK handbag. Colourwise not patternwise but still.... (have "quirky" tastes where this sort of thing is perfectly acceptible)

Anyone else have hay fever that struck big-style over the weekend? - must go read if I'm "allowed" antihistamines.

wildfig · 15/06/2009 12:49

Also, no to the home birth, thanks. Not only is my home far too messy to pass muster, I wouldn't want any 'assistance' from the dog. Who is clearly an expert now, like everyone else.

triggerhappybaby · 15/06/2009 13:06

By Christ, I go to chair a senior management meeting and you lot have been gassing over the fence big time in my absence. Shift up a bit

V sorry to hear about your square one ishoos Aus but pleased that the oft-overlooked sloe gin is going to make an appearance. It truly is the nectar of the Gods. I spent almost all yesterday drinking it. DSD was 18 on Thurs, and DSS was 21 yesterday so I have essentially been three sheets since before the weekend. I have invented a wonderful drink: Creme de Cassis, Grey Goose Vodka and Slimline tonic (it HAS to be slimline to reduce the guilt factor calorie intake.) Made up for it by cooking a giant roast yesterday AND made top quality choc souffle for afters . If that don't make you fertile nowt will!!

wildfig · 15/06/2009 13:20

Wildfrig? VAG? Is this Freudianism at work or are we going to Profanisaurus our names up?!

VeryAnnieMary - doh! [slaps head] shows how my local knowledge has crumbled. Of COURSE the peak sample sale times for yummage would be in school hours. Gutted. I have the car print bags and that nice red tulip pattern. Don't even want to contemplate the bar-gains I have missed.

trigger love the sound of that. It sounds like a Party Ribena.

triggerhappybaby · 15/06/2009 13:43

It is EXACTLY like party ribena!!

Sorry for the name change, I was feeling a bit bored/mischievous in fact wildfrig has put an image in my head that I can't seem to shake so that just serves me the hell right doesn't it lmao

wildfig · 15/06/2009 13:52

Sorry! Monday morning sense of humour lapse. As an ex-car hack, alas, VAG to me will always be the Volkswagen Audi Group, also commonly referred to as vadge, no matter how hard they try to persuade people otherwise.

Aussieng · 15/06/2009 14:31

Love the re-christening. Wildfrig is quite an image.

Adding Vodka cassis to Melon bellini recipes - I'm going to be the star of the cocktail party.

VAM - sorry, in retrospect, that is true, and while I do get impatient for the 2ww to be over the run up to ov (the fun part) at least flies by.

I was just deciding whether to chart properly this month in which case I might need a new thermometre so was checking them out on the internet and accidentally left a huge picture of a uterus on my computer screen for ages

SkaterGrrrrl · 15/06/2009 15:16

"left a huge picture of a uterus on my computer screen for ages"

Aussie!

I am wracked with Glastonbury envy. Now: tonight need to book very expensive plane tickets to a destination wedding in December. Shall I pee on a stick first or would I be allowed to fly at 6 months pg?

[just wants an excuse to pee on a stick, really]
