Hi everyone,
Was also away at the wknd for SIL's birthday so missed all the boozy action it seems.

Though I did have some of my own.

Welcome cheggers.

I ordered some very non-pregnancy clothes online last night - beat that!

My A game is starting tonight. Day 8 - I am such a little swot.

donttrythisathome · 01/06/2009 22:38

Never been to the States.

Feel left out

I gave in and updated my wardrobe a couple of weeks ago having been adamant for months there was no point. I hope this tips the balance for me! I was also thinking along the lines of custom fitted ski boots - because apparently your feet change shape during pregnancy...

laurielou · 02/06/2009 08:12

Morning everyone!

I'm on day 11 so I'd better get my A Game going too.

Although I've had a bit of a set back in the "wanting to get PG stakes" - a friend of mine who is 8 months PG has only posted pics of herself a la Demi Moore on Facebook! I thought I knew her so well. The pics are, well, um, horrible. Am I insane to think that maybe some things should be kept personal? Honestly, my coffee isn't lying well just thinking about it. Its not exactly making me feel like the A Game tonight.........think I'll get my thrills sitting on the washing machine instead - satisfied grin & clean clothes at the same time. Talk about multi-tasking.

SarahAbroad · 02/06/2009 08:34

Oh, laurielou, I can see why your stomach is turning...I would be bothered to see any of my friends a la Demi Moore, with or without a bump....

I am glad so many of you are fond of Boston--it's the city where I was born. . And I'll always love New York (lived there for 8 years).

I must get onto planning some non-pregnancy compatible events. Have used up all our holiday with honeymoon, although we are scheduled to go to Glastonbury at the end of the month....

NCNW--thanks for the canteloupe bellini recipe, if AF comes at the end of the month as expected, I will be making bellinis!

For those OVing this week, count me in too...I am on Day 10. I've not started temping or testing--just thought we'd better treat EVERY day as if it were OV day.

I am wishing you all lovely days in this fabulous weather--hope at least some of you can spend the day outside. (I am planning an afternoon in the garden with a book...there are some advantages to being credit crunched.)

x

laurilou - argh! I know! I may not have a size ten model figure now but holey-moley when skin's all stretched like that.....ergh.

Namign child Boston, eh? - Could I call it Charles instead? I suppose that's a better option than, er, Clapham. Sarah I'm jealous of all your time in Boston, you must miss it terribly.

I bought some very tight, very expensive jeans a couple of months ago in order to jinx myself - sadly I have got quite a lot of wear out of them so far (though if biscuit consumption continues this may end in a different way....)

Oops - impatient this morning.

Fitful sleep last night - dreamed I was about to go into labour. Honestly, if my hormones want so much for me to do this, they're going the wrong way about it.

Aussieng · 02/06/2009 09:58

I think I may be about to be dismissed from this group...

I didn't love Boston....

In my defence I had spent 8 very hot days in DC prior to my visit, been to all the monuments, Arlington, Robert E Lee's house Smithsonian for 4 days in a row etc etc etc and was kind of cultured out. After that I had a bit of "tude" when expected to walk the Freedome Trail and exclaim over 200 year old churches....

Perhaps I should give it another chance - I hear it is better in autumn

I do love New York [hopeful face]

triggerhappybaby · 02/06/2009 10:09

Tsk - I advise you to start your own thread entitled Mid thirties TTC but didn't like Boston. See how popular you feel then. Non-conformist.

skihorse · 02/06/2009 10:43

I have never been to Boston so I'm sat on the fence for this one. I've never been a fan of tea either.

laurielou · 02/06/2009 10:57

I flew into Boston & immediately jumped into a car & drove out to.....Cape Cod, possibly? I know we went there at some point, we spent 2 weeks driving around. Back to Boston - to fly home again.

That's probably even more disrespectful that saying I didn't like it - whoops.

same as aussie loved New York, so good they named it I visited twice.

Hope I'm forgiven............

VeryAnnieMary · 02/06/2009 10:57

First time I visited Boston I didn't love it - was with an ex (stressful holiday) and it rained and he got his bag stolen with passport in...anyway, subsequent visits were much more chilled. Was never that taken with whole Freedom Trail thing though did do it once. Prefer hanging out on Newbury/strolling along the Charles/watchign the planes down at the harbour/trips to Newport or the Cape etc.

Love New York too - haven't been since 9/11 happened, DH not too interested in going and if we cross the "pond" I tend to want to go to New England.

Cosmosis · 02/06/2009 11:20

Like skihorse I have never been to Boston and I don't like tea. I did used to watch Cheers though, does that count?

triggerhappybaby · 02/06/2009 11:26

Newport was fab. Did a 12 miles walk along the headland past all the 'cottages' and rounded it off with a trip to Ben and Jerrys. Loved it.

VeryAnnieMary · 02/06/2009 11:54

"Cottages" is such a misnomer, what a lifestyle! We used to go to The Red Parrot for deep-fried onion and beer (like onion rings but all still attached - healthy option obv).

Watching Cheers perfectly acceptible. Can I own up to having DVDs of three series? Wasn't the same after Diane left. Have been to the Bull & Finch - thrilling walking down the steps, at least!

VeryAnnieMary · 02/06/2009 13:39

Forget Boston, I'm naming my child after gin! Pure genius!

donttrythisathome · 02/06/2009 13:53

One of my exes (mmmm, he was gorgeous) lives in Boston, and used to live in Martha's Vineyard.

I will book a flight now.

Please let me back in the gang

VAM lol.

Don't you think Tennents Super Strength has more of a ring to it though for your little darling?

Way more cachet... depending on your social circles of course...

OP posts:
SarahAbroad · 02/06/2009 14:45

Well, if Chardonnay is a good enough name for a footballer's wife (I think that was a character's name on Footballer's Wives...), I don't see why "gin" (Virginia for long, perhaps...)

dont, of course you can stay in the club...just visualise Boston....

triggerhappybaby · 02/06/2009 14:47

Stella.

VeryAnnieMary · 02/06/2009 14:53

My best friend's fave food is potato in all forms - working on a campaign to persuade her to potato-name her kids: Edward, Piper, Charlotte, Maris etc.

Admit to not much progress to date.

SarahAbroad · 02/06/2009 15:16

Funny, my brother and SIL have been referring to their baby (due 20 July) as Spud....

SarahAbroad · 02/06/2009 15:16

Or VAM, they could always call the baby Chip!

triggerhappybaby · 02/06/2009 17:03

An unpleasant revelation has just now come to light.

There are fewer buttons in a packet of M&S chocolate buttons than when previously sampled. They are smaller and there are fewer of them. And for some reason they are organic. So what?? I don't want buttons that appeal to the guilt-ridden middle classes. I want buttons that arrive in sufficient quantities to satisfy my craving.

I'm going to have to eat DP's bag now as well because of this.
