Hi everyone! Hubby and I are desperately broody and have been for a few years. We're hoping to TTC later this year, we're having to wait til Hubby finishes his degree as we just can't afford to have a baby whilst he's a student. Am wanting to come off the pill round about May, and hopefully TTC about Nov/Dec. Want to come off the pill a few months early as I've been on it for over 14 yrs, and would like to know what its like to have normal periods!

Be nice to know if anyone else is in a similar situation.

I get really bad baby envy! It is terrible.

Bebe, I was really tempted to buy some pink baby clothes in the mothercare sale a few weeks ago. I had gone in looking for a duvet for DS1's cotbed and nearly left with baby clothes for girls.

tanmu82 · 24/01/2010 17:05

I've just had my sister visit and took the poor woman all over town to look at baby stuff, and bombarded her with tonnes of websites I've found doing 'research'.....I am unashamedly living vicariuosly through her pregnancy! Spiltthetea...yes the waiting to TTC part is really hard - I just want to be able to get started......

Florin · 24/01/2010 19:13

Yippee found out we have some money coming to us which we will get once we have a baby so money won't be holding us back so so excited. Have decided though that we will wait till start of June to ttc as got a sailing holiday booked and it is going to be windy so will require me doing some heavy work so don't want to be pregnant for that otherwise I will worry. Spent ages this afternoon looking up baby stuff so feeling extremely broody!

Kayzr · 24/01/2010 19:24

Yay Florin!!! What brilliant news!!!

It seems there are quite a few of us starting in summer. It'll be here before we know it.

We're going to need a new thread soon as this one is filling up.

bebejones · 25/01/2010 16:00

Florin - FAB news! I am hoping to TTC June too! (Well I say May & DH says June so will probably end up being June as I can't do it on my own!!)

Another AF to strike off the list, have started temping now too which really makes it feel like I am doing something! It keeps my mind occupied at least!

GirlWiththeMouseyHair · 25/01/2010 18:35

Crochet I really worry about money too - mainly the costs of childcare. In my line of work, I don't earn much after tax and childcare for one so sensible me should really wait until DS is at least getting his 15hours a week free or until school but I really don't want an big age gap.

Am starting to wish we'd started TTC in august just gone like originally planned...then I'd be 4.5 months pregnant now. Booooooooo

but then DS is really ill at the mo, so spedning all my time cuddling up in front of films with him, grateful to only have him to worry about!

Florin · 26/01/2010 14:45

Bebejones glad to be trying the same sort of time as someone else! My dh is really keen on having a summer baby so wanted to wait a couple more months but pointed out very likely not to happen on first try so could still be a summer baby. We talked about starting to try when we go on holiday (end June) but this is now been brought forward to start of June then dh birthday is end of may so thought maybe that would be a good time to start! I stopped pill in first couple days of jan and waiting on my first real af on a positive note since coming of pill I've lost weight and boobs got smaller (mine are big so it's a positve for me!) for once really want af to start so can start tracking my symptoms.

takethatlady · 26/01/2010 20:29

Hey again - sorry for not replying sooner Eadwacer, somehow didn't get to this thread. Good luck ttc! And good luck with submitting your thesis - definitely sure that it will be an incentive to get it in rather than turning your brain to cottage cheese!

I start my first pill of three remaining packs today. Countdown to April 14th!

Kayzr · 28/01/2010 10:12

Why does everyone I know seem to be pregnant or has just had a baby??

Stupid broodiness!!!

bebejones · 28/01/2010 13:23

Kayzr - I feel your pain!

Kayzr · 29/01/2010 08:02

I gave in last night and bought a baby magazine. Not sure why but I feel a bit better about it!

bebejones · 29/01/2010 09:19

Think my DH would be really cross if I bought a magazine...well if he found it he would! He keeps changing his mind all the time! Last night he spoke to one of his friends who said having 2 is much harder than people tell you, so now he has gone off the idea and said his 'head isn't in that place right now'!!! WTF?!?!

Kayzr · 29/01/2010 10:56

2 is much easier than having 1 I think. You already know exactly what you are doing and the older one keeps the youngest one amused.

Suinoko · 30/01/2010 12:06

Just joined MN because I am feeling so broody, but not planning TTC until 2011. Getting rather impatient - glad I'm not the only one! I often feel so guilty that I am getting broody, I am rather young at 22 (but have been told I have the mentality of someone in their 30s, and I feel pretty old! Not at all like my peers.) and went 'til the age of 19 without any intention of ever having children, ever - and it's all come flooding out at once! I keep researching so much stuff and DP seems as enthusiastic as me - we just can't commit right now. We intend to move house in September closer to my parents and have very little savings (DP just got into work after almost 2yr unemployment period). I work from home so the move won't affect me as such, but I worry how it will affect DP and I think it will take some time to get back on our feet after that.

nickelbabe · 30/01/2010 13:17

i've only come on here because i'm getting broody.

in the past week i seem to have become obsessed with the subject (MN probably helps...) my dance teacher is pregnant again and it's really making me jealous.

i've even made (and had reciprocated) comments to my OH about being fat when pregnant (to which he strokes my tummy and tells me i'll be gorgeous )
i think we're waiting till we're married, but i haven't had a proposal yet...

Kayzr · 30/01/2010 15:08

Suinoko, I am 23, 24 in April. So I don't think you are that old considering I was 20 when DS1 came along!!

macaco · 31/01/2010 15:43

Hello everyone,

This thread sounds like just the thread for me...mind if I join for the next 5 months or so?
I think I want number 2! I've been thinking more and more about it lately and find myself drawn to conception/pregnancy threads. DS is almost 2 and we'd said we'd start thinking about it from when he was 2 or 2 and a bit and then we had some financial difficulties so thought we'd wait a bit longer, but I'm starting to get broody. People are beginning to ask (gps for instance) when we're going to have another. Really we should wait til the summer as DS will go to preschool in Sept and I had terrible MS with him and so it would help a lot to have some child care in place in case I'm puking my guts up. Also just started working freelance and it's going well but should give it a little longer...but but but...reaaaally beginning to feel the urge.

bebejones · 01/02/2010 08:11

Welcome Macaco! Your situation sounds alot like mine! Except DD's childcare won't start til next Sept! I can't wait that long so just have to hope the sickness is not as bad next time!

Kayzr · 01/02/2010 08:18

Morning,

Welcome Macaco. My DS starts preschool in September too. I am actually looking forward to it so I can spend more time alone with DS2.

I have never ever had morning sickness. While I was PG with DS1 I kinda felt I was missing something as everyone makes it out to be such a big part of pregnancy. But now I realise I do not want morning sickness.

Kayzr · 01/02/2010 08:45

Oh and I feel more broody than ever at the minute. I am so deperate to be pregnant!! Argh!!

macaco · 01/02/2010 15:06

So, when do you think you'll actually start ttc bebejones and kazyr? It's not like it would be a total disaster if I got pregnant now, just that there are a whole heap of reasons to wait a few months and only one not to...broodiness. It's probably why I'm feeling broody, cos the time I feel I "can" ttc is fast approaching.
I've just heard I've got a little bit of funding for new business so I supose we could push back from Sept to June but then there's still the issue of if I get horrendous MS again, it would be much better to have DS in nursery in the mornings.

Kayzr · 01/02/2010 15:07

We are actually going to be very very naughty and try tonight. If I don't get pg now then we are waiting until August.

macaco · 01/02/2010 15:19

Oh Kazyr, how exciting! Is it a good time of the month or have you just thought, to hell with it!
I feel quite torn, we really should give it a bit longer but I'm soooo tempted. I've started thinking about if I got pregnant now, what the age gap would be etc etc. But then...i should wait. I'm going to wait...but then again.... I think I need to get a grip.

Kayzr · 01/02/2010 15:28

I think I ovulated yesterday. So we might be too late. But I am really broody. So we'll give it a try and if it doesn't work we'll wait until August.

bebejones · 01/02/2010 19:33

Kayzr - how exciting! Won't deny I am a tiny bit ! Good Luck It's as much as I can do to get DH to commit to this year let alone NOW! Thought I might get some celebratory 'action' later but DD put a stop to that by damaging him in the nuts with The Very Hungry Caterpillar!

Macaco - trying to convince DH to TTC May, he is still saying June or later! We'll see!
