Hi all - last day of my week off work here.....and I've just got up . Dd slept until 7am and dh got up with her and has just taken her to the park, so I get some indulgent mn time in my pj's!

MJIM - yay for a better night's sleep. Hope it continues

Dawni - how's your head today? We've just got a Wii for dh's birthday and we're hooked already....very funny!

DawnAs - please don't beat yourself up about childcare. I was lucky enough to be able to take 12 months off with dd (we had a measley £600 mortgage before we moved) but with this one I'll be going back after 6-9 months, as we've nearly doubled our mortgage. Tbh those 6-9 months will be a struggle, but I'm hoping the money I save on petrol and nursery fees will just about cover the gap. Just on the tax credit thing, our combined salaries are slightly higher than yours and I still have got £40 a month since dd came along, so look into it. It's not a great amount, but combined with the £80 a month child benefit it all adds up. It sounds like you have great childcare in place, so please don't worry - and being able to do your hours in 4 days means you will have 3 lovely full days with Jelly

Right, better go and get showered - dsis doing Sunday Lunch later, yum.

MrsPuddleduck · 01/03/2009 11:33

Hi all! Still here, just don't get on much at the weekend!

CE - thank goodness you're back. You need to really relax for the next few weeks!

I will reply in full tomorrow.

Potty training going OK on the wee front. Still no poos. He is now hysterical and refusing to do one in the nappy or potty! HELP!!!!

To make matters worse he will only wee in this ridiculously large winne the pooh toilet potty thing that is the size of a house. I have bought him the basic lion potty from mothercare so I can take it if we go out and about but he refuses to wee in it. At this rate I am not going to leave the house for months! Thank god for mumsnet!

daisyj · 01/03/2009 11:39

Oh goodness - I've missed so much. I haven't even been lurking - taking an MN break was the only way I could keep up the energy to work! I promised myself I'd come back and catch up this weekend, and I've spent the past half an hour with my heart in my mouth at everyone's ups and downs.

CE - I know I've missed the boat a bit, but I'm so glad you didn't leave us for good. Especially not since we share a due date, and I really wanted to know how you been managing with work and getting organised.

So glad everyone is still here and together - been thinking about you all, and even dreamt Mandy had had her baby the other day.

I'm massive too - DH took some pics yesterday so will post them later. Baby Bo is still really active, particularly in the evening when I just want to rest. It's almost scary sometimes, but I think we may already have had the 'biologically impossible to birth through your belly-button' conversation on here.

So good to hear the the pg ladies are all OK. DawnAS - our financial situation is pretty similar to yours - I'm going back to work full time in October, but we are really lucky in that DH works for a magazine so does crazy hours on Mon and Tues, has most Weds and Thurs off in lieu and then works Fri, so Bo will be with him for two days a week, and my parents for one. Just have to sort out a childminder for him/her for the other two days. Hope we haven't left it too late...

We've decided to go for a homebirth - we're picking up the pool and kit from a friend this afternoon. Fingers crossed there will be no obstacles in the way - Bo seems to be head down, so I'm really hoping things will be straightforward .

to the ttcers - it's so amazing to follow everyone's journey and share support and advice. I would have found this much harder without MN, and even now it's strange to be anticipating Bo's birth when this time last year we were losing our first lo - I don't think anyone here takes anything for granted, which is what makes it such a wonderful thread.

Dawni - I'm in awe at the strength of you and your DH; and Bluestar - I really hope there's a way for your that won't involve such a horrendous wait or bankrupting yourselves. Guaranteed that if there is someone on MN will be able to suggest it...

to everyone. I'm determined to keep up properly now and be able to do proper responses and keep up with you all. Missed you .

ray81 · 01/03/2009 12:08

LaDiDaDi · 01/03/2009 12:49

Sorry I haven't been on for ages and haven't managed to read how everyone's doing. I will try to catch up tonight but for now I'm as AF has arrived, bizarrely early I think though I'm going to check my dates but I think I'm only d22/23 today.

Better luck next month eh?

LaDiDaDi · 01/03/2009 12:51

Yep, just checked last AF arrived on the evening of 06/08 which was around D25.

DawnAS · 01/03/2009 12:53

Hey all,

This is my second attempt to post this morning - I'd started one and got half way through when my dog decided to jump on my laptop and lost it all!! I couldn't be too mad at her though because she looked so proud that she'd been up to my room and found my little red-devil teddy that DH got me for Valentine's day and worked out how to make it whistle!! So... here I go again!!

First of all, a big thank you for all of your responses after my slight melt-down last night. It's really really helped me to know that I'm not on my own...

Daisyj, hey hun!! Oooh, so not long for you to go either. DH and I did contemplate a home-birth, but I'm so paranoid about things going wrong (and if anyone's been to Torbay - trying to get to Torbay Hospital in the Summer is virtually impossible due to holiday-maker traffic), that we decided against it. There is a birthing pool at the hospital though so I will add it to my birthing plan that I'd like to use it if no-one else is!

Willmouse, so is your little one actually constipated or is he just refusing to do a poo? My nephew suffered very badly with constipation (still does)and it's heart-breaking to see them in pain like that. Fingers crossed it sorts itself soon. As a last resort, maybe a little bit of lactulose? What a nightmare about the potty though. Gosh, I'm not looking forward to this bit - sounds like all you ladies cope amazingly!! I'm in awe of you all!!

Detox, thanks so much for your post hun, it's really helped me. Can I ask you a question about tax credits? Do you have to produce receipts for childcare to get them? We are going to be paying my SIL to have Jelly for two days a week but won't be expecting receipts from her, will this impact how much we can receive? It's only because that's what someone had told me, but I'm not sure whether they're right or not. Do you also know where I can go to ask about ALL the money that we can receive, especially what extra we might get during ML? I'm not really up to speed with this stuff... Hope your enjoy your Sunday lunch with Dsis - how lovely!!

CE, glad you enjoyed your Nandos last night!! Thanks for your post. It definitely helps to know that I'm not alone. My best-friend and her husband have an arrangement similar to yourself actually. They both work at the hospital. She is home for about 4.30pm and he leaves for work at 6.00pm until midnight. Unfortunately he works weekends aswell so they don't get to spend much time together at all. But their situation is purely because they're trying to clear a lot of debt. I guess we all have to do what we have to do...

Dawni, I hope you had a drink for me last night hun!!

MJIM, I live near Torbay, in Newton Abbot. Whereabouts are you? We're about 5 miles from the sea but we hardly ever go there, terrible really how we take our surroundings for granted... I'm sure that'll change though when Jelly arrives, we'll have lots of lovely places to take her that are free of charge!! Glad Naomi slept better last night!

Juanitad, thanks for your post hun. It really sucks doesn't it? But I guess you just do what you have to. We're having a pink one by the way... I went a bit mad in Tescos yesterday in the baby clothes department. I kept saying I didn't want her to be too pink, but so far, that's the only colour clothes that I've bought!! Even DH has bought her two "Daddies Little Princess" T-shirts, both in pink and white... Bless!!

HC, thanks for your support as always hun. I have to admit that we were very lucky to get on the property ladder at all to be honest. We spent the first few years together clearing off all of our debts, loans, credit cards etc, and then had to wait a few more months until any discrepancies had come off of our credit files and then we applied for a mortgage. The only down-side, which is the same for anyone I guess, is timing. We agreed a Fixed Term Mortgage (luckily just for 2 years...) at 7.9% - GUTTED!! But, unfortunately we don't have the luxury of hindsight, so we're stuck with it now... Luckily our salaries do allow us to save quite a bit at the moment, which will cover the mortgage while I'm on ML and will allow us to save a little bit once I'm back at work and we're paying for childcare, as we still have a quite a lot to do on the house. We need a new boiler and new double-glazing. It will take us a good few months to save the money but hoping to get it all done before the winter sets in. How wonderful to have built your own place. That's DH's dream but I can't imagine it happening anytime soon!! Until then, he'll just have to make do with watching Grand Designs...

Sorry about the mammoth post ladies!! I hope that you're all having a nice Sunday. DH is working today so the dog and I stayed in bed until 10.30am!! Very naughty but I felt I needed it after another bizarre dream last night. In the dream DH and I had gone on holiday to a massive hotel which sort of had a theme park and shopping centre within it. We'd been out and were heading back to our room when I realised I'd lost something. So DH carried on to the room and I went to find whatever it was (a phone charger I think - bizarre!!). Anyway, I was trying to get back to the room and I kept getting lost. I was wandering around for 3 hours trying to get back to the room and getting more and more upset. I was so stressed and tired when I finally woke up from the dream and realised that I'd been asleep for 3 hours, so I wonder if I really had been in the dream for that long. No wonder I was so knackered!!

Anyway, I suppose I should get dressed and take Tilly out for a walk - not that I can manage much of a walk these days - for some crazy reason we bought a house on a hill and I'm carrying nearly two stone of extra weight and my legs give up half way up the hill these days. I sound like an old woman don't I?!

Dawni · 01/03/2009 13:51

Thats the ironing done and the dishes washed, going to visit mam shortly.

Ray Will have to try that game, ive not had this much fun in ages !!! I couldnt golf very well lastnight..not sure why !!!!!

LaDiDaDi Sorry AF got you hun, mines on route, my stomach is going mad and my boobs hurt like hell, ive got spots this morning so look like a dart board !!! Better luck next month

DawnAS Think i had 1 too many for you lastnight, hope you appreciated it !! We love watching Grand Designs, what i wouldnt give for a lotto win ! We rent our bungalow as we could never afford to buy one, they are so expensive !! We used to own our own house, but dont think we'll ever own our own property again, not sure if we would get back on the ladder ??

Much love

D xx

ChocEclair · 01/03/2009 14:12

ladidadi - really sorry AF arrived. It's a pain if your cycles start messing you around - can't remember if you're temping?

willmouse - glad at least the wees are getting done in the potty! I have no wise words I'm afraid!

I have put todays picture on my profile now - jeez! Surely this baby will burst out soon!

daisyj - let's see your bump then! I wonder who will pop first!

ray81 · 01/03/2009 15:33

Dawnas, I now have visions of you sitting on the pavement halfway up a hill!! he he Just think wont be too long before you have to push a pram up there, you'll be fit as a fiddle.

Dawni, I do so love the Wii when i get a chance to play it but that Mario Galaxy is very good indeed. What i like about it is you have loads of levels and me and DD can play together which is lovely. Id realy like a Wii fit but worried that it will tell me i'm overweight and need to get fit (all true of course) i'm 5.8 and weigh 11stone i wouldnt say that i am obese or anything but have a few pounds i realy should get rid of.

Ladidadi, so sorry Af got you what a bummer, perhaps if you arent temping you should try it ive heard good things about it and have started this month. How long have you been trying ?

CE how do you look at others profiles i realy am not very good at this computer lark?

majormoo · 01/03/2009 16:01

Dawn-we all do the best we can for our families so try not to worry. I took a massive pay cut and went back part time to a new job when DD was 10months. As long as you are happy with your childcare arrangements, it may sound harsh, but you soon get used to leaving them.
I did not go back when I had DS1, but that was partly because the childcare costs and hassle hardly made my job worth doing-not just financially-I would have been stressed out all the time with nursery, school run, TTC and having DS2! I worked up til 39 weeks with DD (and was commuting to London from Brighton) which was OK but as I knew I was leaving the job it was not stressful work at all. I worked til 37 weeks with DS1 which was also fine, although I found it hard to be enthusiastic about training the person covering my mat leave. I have never had to hand in receipts for tax credits. On your income I don't think you will get help with childcare.

Dawni · 01/03/2009 16:39

Ray To the right of our names is an envelope and ! Between this is a little yellow book, click on that and see our profiles individually and photo's we have posted xx

daisyj · 01/03/2009 17:00

Oh, CE, that's not a bump. That's a hillock. I am going to have to rise to the challenge, but the pics DH took yesterday were of clothed bump. I will get him to do naked bump later, then you will truly see what a freak of nature I am...

dawn - Ahhhh at your dog. How cute is that! Yes, one of the reasons that DH and I felt more confident about a hb is that we are so close to the hospital. Even in bad traffic it's not much more than 10 mins, so I can completely understand your reluctance. The consensus does seem to be that the best thing is to labour at home for as long as possible - certainly our antenatal classes made me feel more confident that I would know when to call the hospital and when I would need to go in, although I guess every experience is so different that even that's not a certaintyl

Must do birth plan and pack bags... I need another day of weekend...

DawnAS · 01/03/2009 17:03

Ray, luckily I managed to make it home from the walk in one piece and I did try and take a slightly easier route so that the last bit wasn't quite as knackering on the old legs... I'm 34 going on 74!!

Majormoo, I wonder if I might have had it confused then. Are there working tax credits ASWELL as assistance for childcare? In that case, it explains why, when I filled in a provisional form on line for working tax credits to find out what I might get, it didn't mention anything about receipts. It's really confusing isn't it?!! Thanks for the tip though, I did suspect that we wouldn't get much, but if we got about £40 a month for tax credits, that would help us definitely. Every penny helps doesn't it?!

I'm going to take the plunge and put some pics of my bump on here later on. I still think it's rather large for 25 weeks!! I'll also put some pics of the nursery on-line aswell!!

I've just done all the ironing and DH has just got home from work, so we're going to change the bed.

xxx

ray81 · 01/03/2009 17:17

Dawni, thanks for that i have found it and had a nose on everyones pics.

I finally added some pics to my profile too well impressed with myself i can normally do these things!!!

Dawnas, glad you made it home safely well done for taking the easier route that was very sensible. I probably would have done that too and i'm not pg.

CE your bump isnt that big at all ive seen bigger he he.
Oh i do hope that soon i'll be posting pics of my belly on here.

God need to do ironing and dont want to but if i dont DH wont haveshirts for work and DD wont have school uniform.

I'm going to the new IKEA in southampton tomorrow and i'm so excited how sad is that!!!

detoxdiva · 01/03/2009 17:40

Dawn - I have never had to show receipts for anything, and agree with the post that you're unlikely to get help with childcare costs, but you should get some tax credit help...like you say it all adds up - and child benefit has just gone up to £80 a month too The website you need is here...bear with me as I'm rubbish with links...

www.hmrc.gov.uk/TAXCREDITS/

Woo hoo - it worked !!

detoxdiva · 01/03/2009 17:43

This is a good site too

www.direct.gov.uk/en/MoneyTaxAndBenefits/BenefitsTaxCreditsAndOtherSupport/Expectingorbringingupchil dren/index.htm

ChocEclair · 01/03/2009 19:07

ray - I hope all the ttc-ers on here are posting pics of their bumps very soon - you included. Fingers crossed xx

DD - thanks for those links. I did a rough calculation and it seems we might get about £50 a month tax credits plus the £80 child benefit. Much better than nothing!

daisyj - I have done my birth plan! It mainly involves being left alone to get on with it and not being fussed with! Oh, and I'm going in the birth pool if at all possible!

My mate has brought round all the dvd's so we are starting with episode 1 series 1 of 24 tonight!

daisyj · 01/03/2009 19:18

CE, I'm of the 'leave me alone' school of thought, too, especially if I'm in pain - DH has had fair warning .

Right, pic now uploaded. Let the bump-off begin!

at your DVD watching, btw.

daisyj · 01/03/2009 19:25

Just had a look at my picture and realised that it doesn't look that impressive. Honestly, I'm huge - maybe the background is having a minimising effect.

And now CE will think I'm a stalker as it looks like I'm wearing the same top as her, too!

DawnAS · 01/03/2009 19:40

Hello all,

Detox, thanks for the link hon. I've just added all the info and it looks like we get about £67 a month which is amazing and a lot more than I expected!! Obviously that's only an estimate, things can change I'm sure in the next few months!!

Daisyj and CE, I'm not going to get into your bump race as I'm 10 weeks behind you, but I have added some pics at last!!

So, added bump pics aswell as nursery pics!!

HumphreysCorner · 01/03/2009 19:46

Loving the bump pics ladies.............actually makes me quite nostalgic for being pregnant. Whenever I see a pregnant lady now, I go all gooey and think, oh I'd like to be pregnant!!! A little too soon perhaps!!
