Hi All, have been on a couple of ttc hreads but due to sad arrival of af yesterday and x2 negative pg testa thought I'd start a September one.

We are ttc#2 we already have dd(2) and had a mc in September this will be cycle 3 since mc.

Mc hit me hard, more so than other adverse life events for some reason also head full of other stuff such as trying to complete a Post grad Diploma in Cognitive Therapy!!

Anyway want to try to be optimistic and hopeful and not (too!) obsessive this month!

Anyone else fancy joining?? xx

Hi Everyone,

So leaving it until today to test was a good call - AF arrived last night and like you smallone I am in bits with the pain (used to get them really badly before I went on the pill and now they are back with a vengeance

Congratulations to Headfairy and Snowfalls - I am absolutely delighted for you. Hopefully you'll see me on the ante-natal threads soon.

Thanks for all the support and everything girls - heading to the October thread now. I'll check back in on the rest of you to see how things go. Fingers crosed for all of you .

MoreThanChocolate · 12/01/2009 11:54

Hi Everyone
This is doing my head in. Day 26 and no ovulation as yet (my whole cycle used to be only 24 days pre mc). Last cycle was 31 days with ovulation day 20/21. No idea what?s going on! Blaming my size(22/24), hormone imbalance , my age(38.6) ... things I did in a former life etc.etc.
On the plus side bding for England and getting into the swing of things since at least every other day since christmas week as had been expecting to ovulate between then and new year. Had found sex a bit painful emotionally and physically after the mc but hopefully recovering from that via what amounts to immersion therapy!!!
Best of luck to all of you and congratulations to those lucky ones that were successful this month.
I?ll check back to see how many bfps the September thread got in the end but since my body is acting up I am not going to qualify for this thread now and maybe should move to the October one and think about seeing GP for advice
Morethan x

Sunnydale · 12/01/2009 13:25

Hi Morethanchoc, how are you measuring ovulation? I once ovulated without it "showing" on a pee stick: I only knew coz I went for an ultrasound and the sonographer saw the egg on screen. Next time AF comes, count backwards 14 days, coz if OV occurs, it usually tends to be 14 days before AF. Apparently. Not that I'm a doctor. You're doing the right thing, all that BD'ing... anyway sure I'll see you on the Oct thread soon. Try not to get down x

minxofmancunia · 12/01/2009 14:40

morathanchoc don't be despondent you're more than in with a chance, ihad mc in sept and had 2 cycles of 28 days ovd on day 17 both of them , then got fed up and stopped monitoring, bd on xmas eve ( and ONLY then) thinking i was out for this month, got awful pains of xmas day thinking it was af, day 28 no af and no bfp!!

felt just like you but did pg tests every 3 days like it ways on the packet and got a bfp last tuesday!! Must have been ov pain on xmas day, day 26!!!!

you might have ovd already and be in with a chance, and you're making an effort, I only bd once and the 2 previous moths all the time, so don't give up hope just yet, mc can do crazy things to your cycle.

MoreThanChocolate · 12/01/2009 17:46

Thanks for your encouraging posts minx and sunny I read them to dh hope you don't mind. dh and I are motivated and tonight we are 'on duty' iyswim dspite that the opk kit says noooo (again) hey ho

minx congrats to you we are inspired by your story best of luck with your beanie

littlewifey · 12/01/2009 18:12

Congratulations Snowfalls, Minx and Headfairy, so pleased for you all
I'm fed up with my body at the moment am currently on day 34 of a cycle that can be anywhere between 30-38 days. We bd'd soooo much over christmas holidays and really felt it might happen this month because we were both off work so less stressed. However, I'm feeling like AF is due any second, and I have been testing everyday with ebay cheapies since day 30 but all BFN. GRRRRRRRR!!!!!! SoI think I will be making my way over to the oct thread any day. I shall keep checking back in here though to see if you lovely ladies have anymore BFP's. Good luck everyone xx

HeadFairy · 13/01/2009 01:28

thanks for the congrats everyone. to be honest it all feels a little unreal. Last time we were so excited because it was our first (and we didn't know how horrendous the first weeks of a new baby's life are ) but this time it's all a matter of fact. We haven't really talked much about it beyond the practicalities. Ho hum, I guess no one's that interested in your second baby. I guess also it's such a shock, considering my age and the fact that we only bd'd once and I was so ill I really really really didn't think it would happen this month. It's all added to a slightly unreal feeling to the whole thing. It'll start to feel real soon enough, I've already started getting some morning sickness bouts

Sorry to hear about your missing ov morethan, I'm sure sunnydale is right and that sometimes it can happen without you noticeing. Heck this month I didn't have a drop of ewcm and although my cervix did move up a tiny bit, hardly it's usual amount but despite that I still managed to get pg. Enjoy all the bd'ing!

Sorry to hear about af irish I hope the pain has subsided now.

I'm on nights this week so I'm not going to be able to get on much, got to sleep as much as I can! Good luck to those on the 2ww, and those testing. I'll be back to see how you get on x

littlewifey · 13/01/2009 06:34

Morning ladies, I need some advice!!! After my post last night I decided that I would do one more test as I have had two first response in the cupboard and I have no willpower!! I am on day 35 today my period is usually 33-34 days but has been known to be 38 a couple of times in the last year since I started monitoring. I don't think I ov'd until day 25 so was expecting that my Af might be another late one. Anyway, I have got up this morning and tested with FR. After about 2 min there was no 2nd line, so I shouted at myself for having no willpower and got into the shower in a sulk. When I got out again I had another look and there is a very very faint 2nd line, but it is so faint I thought I might be imagining it, so I had to get DH to double check. He said that he thinks it could be an evaporation line because it was in bathroom with me while I had a shower, but my bathroom is large and it was right over other side of room on the windowsill and I only jumped in for a quick wash- 5 min max!!! Sorry just realised I am really waffling (and prob clutching at straws).. So what do you ladies think??
I'm really confused as I really felt on sun that AF was def on it's way. Has anyone had a faint line on here but then got AF? xx

Gateau · 13/01/2009 08:31

Big congrats to you Headfairy. And all the other newly pg ladies out there too, of course. I remember "talking" to you some months ago; you were giving me advice on something or other. Don't worry - it'll all feel very real before you know it!
Like you, we have BD'd very little this cycle - and on CD6 and cd14, so am not hopeful for a BFP. There again you never know! But I'm scared I didn't ov because I've seen no signs and am not using kits. Can;t help feeling my two recent mcs have messed with my system a bit. It's all in the lap of the gods, really.
Look after yerself.

HeadFairy · 13/01/2009 08:51

Aw Gateau, I'm sure things will settle down again soon. I quite often don't have any signs of ov, esp this month, and you know what happened next

Littlewifey, it's so hard to tell. The only time I've used an analogue test I was four days late so got a very strong line. All I can suggest is splashing out on a digital and waiting a few days. If you are pg, you'll still be pg in a few days (hopefully) so it won't change things. But it is flipping hard waiting I do appreciate that.

MissieMoosMummy · 13/01/2009 13:04

Hi all,
Just popping back after a bit of an absence so Happy New Year!! been doing the usual crawling around the country visting the rellies over xmas, and have finally come home.

This growing list of BFPs is wonderful and has given me a lovely happy feeling to start the new year with. Congratulations to you all! Commiserations to those of you who've had AF & hope next month proves more fruitful.

Whilst I'd love to feel hopeful of a BFP for myself, I really don't think this will happen. MissieMoo was horrid sick all though December, stopped eating and ramped up her breastfeeding until she was doing almost 24 hrs a day. I faithfully temped, knicker-checked and opk'd, but by CD19 I was getting despondent having not had a sniff of EWCM or a +ve opk - I was pretty sure that she'd managed to surpress ov completely and I would be doing it for the next 3 months with no useful results. Sleepless nights and the hassle of trying to fit BD into the few minutes DD would leave my side soon put a dampner on the whole venture. So I stopped trying on CD20, only to see a temp shift after CD23! Really hoping some of Hubby's swimmers survived to do their job, but since there was no EWCM (v.unusual) I'm going to assume AF is on her way and not obsess for the rest of the month. I'll pop back onto this thread every so often just cuz I love seeing the BFP announcements you ladies are having!

I've updated the list for those of us that are still waiting for a September BFP.

littlewifey · 13/01/2009 19:57

Thanks Headfairy, I think you are right, I will have to splash out on a digital test. I will wait til the weekend and then go and buy one if AF hasn't arrived by then!

Sunnydale · 13/01/2009 22:12

Hello all. Just catchin up. Wifey, I think Headfairy is right - a positive will still be a positive tomorrow, and remember HCG levels double every 24 hours so it really is worth testing again tomorrow - morning wee is strongest, apparently, although I guess it's different for digital tests, not that I've tried one. If it's positive again you are definitely PG!

Gateau, I'm not using ov tests either, but from what other ladies have been saying it sounds like ov can occur at very random times indeed (CD26??!) so I'm definitely gonna invest in one of those predictor kits for next month. I think you can get them cheaper on ebay than in the shops. I BD'd on CD 10, 12, 13, 14 and 15 this time, and was feeling mighty pleased at my achievement. But I still don't know if it was the "right" time - I had no EWCM to speak of, I kept forgetting to temp and I'm too squeamish to feel my own cervix (pathetic, aren't I). I assumed I'd OV on CD14, but it really sounds from others' experiences that you can OV any old time. At my age, I feel I can't afford to take any chances. I'd buy a frickin' ultrasound machine if I could!
CD 27 for me, AF due in two days, who knows what will occur? Good luck to all those testing x

HeadFairy · 13/01/2009 23:27

Good luck sunnydale!

Littlewifey, do come back on here and tell us what you get. It's so hard to wait isn't it? I'm really excited and impatient, and it's not even me testing

missiemoosmummy, hopefully some of the little swimmers hung around long enough this month!

Hello to everyone else, hope the ttc rollercoaster isn't too stressful for you all x

littlewifey · 14/01/2009 07:11

Lol at your squemish comment Sunnydale... I'm exactly the same!! And thanks to you and Head for the advice, I have got a digital test, but am going to wait a couple more mornings before I use it because a) I will be able to tell I'm not if AF turns up! and b) I read somewhere that they aren't as sensitive. Headfairy, how are you feeling? Any MS etc yet?
Sunnydale and Gateu, I used the OPK sticks this time, really cheap from ebay, and was really glad that I did, because we were b'ding completely too early. Infact, if the OPK was right, I ov'd pretty late.
Good luck to anyone else testing, and Sunnydale, I'll keep my fingers crossed for the next two days for you
Off to work now... ho hum!!

HeadFairy · 14/01/2009 08:23

Another reason for waiting littlewifey, they're blooming expensive so wait until you're pretty certain you're going to get a positive No point wasting all that money for a farking "not pregnant"!

I've had the odd bout of nausea, nothing major, but I didn't with ds. Just occasionally I'll retch, not nice but better than actually throwing up. Got lots of achey feelings in my lower abdomen though, hoping it's all that stretching going on rather than anything more sinister. Doesn't feel like the pain I had when I had a mc, plus I was bleeding masses by the time I got the pain, so I'm fairly confident it's just the stretching starting. I do remember my friend saying to me last time I was pg, "oh lucky you, no periods for 9 months" except the stretching pains made it feel like a 9 month long period (but obviously without the bleeding). Mustn't grumble though, I did want this to happen, and anything to do with a pregnancy progressing is good!

Gateau · 14/01/2009 08:47

Morning ladies,
Thanks for all your advice. Am not sure whether to get OPK kits or not as then I'd be totally obsessed!
Feel as if AF is looming - getting that old heavy feeling. Boo hoo. But then this morning I also noticed what looked like EWCM. IF so, that would mean I am ov on CD23, when my cycle only used to be around that long. WTF??!
Bloody hell, these mcs have a lot to answer for. I haven't a clue what my body is doing these days. I guess the thing that scares me the most is that I am no longer ovulating, or at least not regularly, or that my eggs are not as good quality as they once wwre. (I am now 39).
What ages are the rest of you ladies, if you don't mind me asking?

HeadFairy · 14/01/2009 08:57

Gateau, I'm 38, 39 in July so the same age as you. I always worried about the age thing as it took me 18 months to get pg with ds, but I have started to rethink that as I got pg the first month of trying (but went to on to mc) and then got pg this month which was our 3rd cycle, and with only one bd and me with an awful cold. I'm increasingly thinking I didn't have a clue when I was ttc ds!

Gateau · 14/01/2009 09:03

Know what you mean, HeadfFairy.
I got pg the second month of TTC with DS. I realise now what a flippin' miracle he was because I got pg twice after that - moreorless straightaway, but sadly both ended in mc.
That makes three mcs in total (I had one 4.5 years ago as well).. Worried this is it for me now, but trying to be positive. Am desperate for a sibling(s) for DS.
How old is your DS?

HeadFairy · 14/01/2009 09:11

my ds is 16 months. the funny thing is now I've had one mc, I think I've had one before. A few years ago I had a funny period, late, heavy and clotty. At the time I panicked because my friend had the same symptoms and had abnormal cells on a smear and had to have some cells removed. My periods returned to normal straight away and I gave it no more thought. I think that was possibly an early mc. I was wierdly calm about the whole mc, my sis had one a couple of years ago and she was great, reassuring me it wasn't anything I'd done, that the baby just wasn't developing properly and the body does it's best to prevent problems with a pregnancy but sometimes it just has to end it.

My poor mum had one at about 22 weeks (back in the late 60s, dating wasn't so accurate in those days) and she had to deliver a still born baby, she didn't get over that for years and had terrible pnd after having me as a result.

A friend of mine has a theory (she did read it in a medical journal so not totally unfounded) that some women alternate successful pregnancies with miscarriages as sometimes some remnants of the previous pregnancy remain and causes the body to reject the new pregnancy, thus clearing out the uterus and allowing the next pregnancy to be successful. I have no idea if that's true, but she's had 5 children and miscarried in between each one, so she's convinced it's true, and almost expects it.

Gateau · 14/01/2009 09:21

Could be true for some women. I hoped that was true for me when I got pg after my first mc last year. And then I had another mc and was devastated. I couldn't believe it was happening again.
Your poor Mum. She probably never got over it.
And yes, you're probably right about your previous mc. My Mum says she is pretty sure she had one years and years ago, but at the time must thought it was a late, very heavy period. Pg tests are so sensitive now that we all detect pregancies very, very early and so know about mcs very, very early on. Years ago, women would never have even known about early mcs.
So today's pg tests have their pros AND cons.

HeadFairy · 14/01/2009 09:35

That must have been awful for you Gateau, two mc's back to back. I must admit I'm absolutely bricking it this time round. I'm getting lots of abdominal pain, which the sensible part of my brain says is just stretching, but the panicky part of my brain thinks is a miscarriage. I'm trying to console myself that last time I was bleeding for quite a few days before the pain started and then it was obvious I was miscarrying.

You're so right about the pros and cons of early pregnancy tests. So many women have miscarried without knowing in the past and so have avoided the heartache of knowing you were so near and yet so far. Ignorance is bliss (sometimes). Having said that I'm currently debating whether to go for an early scan for some peace of mind.

How old is your ds Gateau?

Gateau · 14/01/2009 09:42

He is 21 months tomorrow. I would have loved another Dc before I was 40, but it doesn;t look as if that'll happpen. I'll settle for another DC - anytime! Pickers can't be choosers.
I would ask your Gp to refer you for an early scan, but I'm not sure they would scan you before seven weeks??!

minxofmancunia · 14/01/2009 09:46

Hi headfairy, I'm getting lots of abdominal cramps and pain too, although no bleeding. Worried though cos had pain before blood when miscarried last time.

Boob huge and felt SICK this am though until I ate, am sleeping for England too, went for bloods at the walk in EPU yesterday though as fraught with worry over these cramps, having repeat tomorrow then they will call me tomorrow pm to let me know if hormones are behaving as they should do. Fingers crossed but bricking it.

best of luck to you too xx

minxofmancunia · 14/01/2009 09:48

headfairy if you call your local epu they can advise you where the nearest ealk in centre is, my nearest one is Gp referral only but the city centre one is walk in which is where th local one advised me to go. V helpful. Didn't bother with a GP referral cos the Gps at my practice are completely dismissive unless you're bleeding from an artery in front of them .
