6wk old sac with HEARTBEAT

Have another appointment in 3 weeks to check again.

Feeling very relieved

fifitot · 01/04/2009 14:11

Wahey!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Some good news and we were all on tenterhooks waiting.

Well done you! (And DP I suppose ;)

dixie64 · 01/04/2009 14:13

Yay congratulations itofr brilliant news - try to relax now and enjoy!

xx

vonsudenfed · 01/04/2009 14:29

fantastic news! and a heartbeat too - how brilliant.

Sorry haven't posted for a bit- life taking over.

Kiwicat - it's impossible that feeling isn't it, completely irrational and unfair, and totally inescapable. My best friend had her first baby 4 months after my m/c. I almost turned round and went home instead of going to see her for the first time. And I felt so petty and pathetic, but I couldn't help it.

Rowing - glad the Hungary escapade has gone well so far. Hope it all keeps moving forward - has he sent you your instructions yet?

Will catch up properly later. I have no news other than am ov'ing a week late. For why? [bemused].

catsmother · 01/04/2009 14:37

Congratulations ITOFR ! Lovely news.

KiwEasterKat · 01/04/2009 14:52

Isthisoneforreal - YES! Very real, and such fantastic news. Congrats for starting April off in just the right way.

KiwEasterKat · 01/04/2009 14:57

Looking forward to hearing about your results, Spiralqueen.

Isthisoneforreal · 01/04/2009 14:59

Sorry for BFN Spiral, but it sounds like there still may be hope. Fingers crossed x

spiralqueen · 01/04/2009 15:36

That's wonderful news IFTOR - so happy for you and . Brought a tear to my eye and really lifted my spirits.

You must be so excited - congratulations!

Rockdoctor · 01/04/2009 15:54

Hi everyone,

I seem to be becoming a bit of a lurker - sorry - combination of work and toddler and DH about to start a new job.

Wonderful news ITOFR, that is soooo brilliant and gives us all a little bit of hope.

Spiral, sorry about the bfn but sounds as though there's something going on so fingers crossed.

Nan, how are you doing today? So sorry things didn't work out and thinking about you over the next few days.

Well, I'm still tentatively ttc although don't think much will happen this month. I guess I got a bit negative with a combination of thinking I'm too old, we can't afford it, and I just couldn't cope with another mc. At this stage I'm thinking I'll keep trying to the end of the year and then decide. Doesn't help to have MIL staying at the moment and dropping hints every few hours about a sibling for DD as though the fact I've managed it once means it should be straightforward to do it again.

Rockdoctor · 01/04/2009 15:57

....Oops, that finished on a bit of a downer. Never mind, it's a gorgeous spring day here which has got to make anyone feel better

gonepearshaped · 01/04/2009 16:35

That's lovely news ITOFR so very pleased for you and a splendid start to the month.

latestarter2009 · 01/04/2009 16:44

hey everyone - absolutely thrilled for you ITOFR....how exciting...a hearbeat

fx for the bloods spiral

any news on yours beam? and did you have a look at the book?

are you hanging in there nan?

any news from hungary rowing?

i'm about 6dpo and am feeling pretty chilled this month......determined to stay that way ....pretty warm and sunny in london today

beamel · 01/04/2009 18:41

Hi All,

Great news ITOFR, really excited for you !

Fx for you spiral Hoping for good news for you !

My day 3 blood results back which were OK, and the scan was normal other than one ovary was a bit small. The other was normal and there were follicles in both so quite pleased. Apparently some of us have a dominant ovary ! (That amused me).

lates - I read most of the book, it was definitely food for thought (ha ha !). There was some really good stuff in there but I know that to eat the way she suggests would involve too much self-deprivation for me. However, I am encouraged to make some changes in the name of general health rather than just TTCing, so have decided to 1) limit caffeine, dairy and wheat to minimal/sensible levels 2) drink alcohol only during AF 3) purchase a small selection of supplements 4) increase fruit and veg intake and go organic where possible 5) stop all sugar (my dermatologist says it ages your skin anyway) 6) stay away from the chocolate machine at work !
I also read Fertility and Conception by Zita West which said a lot of the same stuff but was a little less extreme (and a lot shorter !)

rowing - any news from your doc ? I took Marvelon for a few years and don't remember any side effects at all. Is the plan to go for it this cycle ?

latestarter2009 · 01/04/2009 21:16

you're scaring me again beam...only other thing i'd add is that rather than giving sugar a miss try the xylitol she recommends...looks exactly like sugar but isn't i've been having in my coffee and made some muesli slices with it....couldn't tell the difference...same with decaf coffee which really surprised me, but maybe because i bought illy which is my favourite, but expensive.........the sacrifices, the sacrifices....at least you've had a drink recently......i've actually managed no alcohol this cycle (two weeks now) and I've still got at least a week to go......unless i get lucky of course

rowingboat · 02/04/2009 17:50

Hi everyone,
ITOFR congratulations that's great news! How exciting to see a heartbeat after all this time.
Beam that's funny about making a few little changes like having NO SUGAR! Aaargh! It will make you go mad you know - I'm certifiable already from trying to remember to take supplements and buy organic milk.
Well done on the no alcohol LS!
Hi VSF, good to hear from you.
Rockdoctor, I have those kinds of 'next baby' comments about another one from the other mums at nursery. As if, why didn't I think of that! I'll just have another one. Doh! I don't want to say anything because they are very nice and would feel awful if they knew we had been trying for ages, so I just look a bit thoughtful and change the subject.
I have my schedule Yay! I have to take marvelon until the 15th then stop for three days. (good - I don't like it!)
Then take even worse hormone stuff, which requires injection.
Then I have to be back in Budapest on the 24th. So just organising annual leave. Please let this go smoothly. I bet old wotsername has requested a day off right in the middle of the treatment and I wont' be able to go. [every the optimist]

beamel · 02/04/2009 18:29

lates - will give the sugar-like stuff a try. I sort of assumed it would be dreadful but will definitely give it a go now. Ok with the no alcohol thing so far but not had to sit and watch anyone else drink yet.

rowing - can't go any madder as already completely bonkers ! How cool that you will get to start straight away ! What will they do when you go back to Hungary next ?

spiral - any news ?

I am merrily playing with my gadgets again. Have a nice little routine going, temp/microscope/POAS for monitor every morning. Spot the obsessive compulsive !

rainbowdays · 02/04/2009 20:27

ITOFR - huge congratulations, so happy for you.

Rowing - I was on marvolon for 10 years, it had no nasty side effects for me, only made af much more bareable, which was the reason I was on it.

I have just ov'd I think, got a positive opk this morning, but also my temp shot up, but perhaps it is just that I am ill and running a temperature.... oh the fun of it all!

spiralqueen · 03/04/2009 09:59

Nan - how are you doing? Imagine it was pretty awful but hope that you get lots of pampering at the weekend. Will DP be around to take care of you?

spiralqueen · 03/04/2009 15:04

Thanks so much for everyone's positive thoughts and crossed fingers but results have come back negative

Still no clearer as to why I have gone this long without AF. Especially as the tests I had before Xmas showed I was a long way off menopausal. Perhaps it's just my body telling me to forget about ttc.

DH has been trying to persuade me that we should sell on all the baby stuff and buy it again if we need it but I've always resisted just in case that was the month we got lucky. Now I feel like just getting shot of everything and just concentrate on being grateful for our DD. We're so much luckier than many others including some of you lovely and supportive ladies I've got to know on MN that it seems greedy to want more than what we already have.

Perhaps I'm giving up too soon but I don't think I can keep going through this constant cycle of optimism and sadness without it impacting negatively on me, DH and DD.

Anyway, thanks for all your support everyone it has meant a great deal and I do appreciate it. I really hope that all your dreams come true and that there's a well deserved rush of BFPs to come. Take care xx

spiralqueen · 03/04/2009 15:52

Sorry for sounding so morose. Haven't stopped blubbing since the chirpy receptionist at the doctors happily said "Oh, you're not pregnant - is that good news?"

Will shut up now - have previously off limits wine rack to do some serious damage to.

MumofAdela · 03/04/2009 16:13

Hi everyone.

Just found this thread - fantastic, though not had time to read it all yet ( at work ).

I'm 45, with one dd ( 8 years old ). Was very surprised to find myself pregnant just before christmas, and was delighted after the initial shock. Unfortunately had a miscarriage at 9 weeks in Feb, and am now desperate to conceive again.

It's very reasuring to see so many other 40+ ladies here. I'll catch up on all the thread over the weekend.

Nice to have met you. I'm in Oxford.

Lou

sussexoldspot · 03/04/2009 16:43

Hello, everyone!

Not sure how many of you will remember me, 41 years old, lots of mcs, told by Consultant eggs are rubbish? Just got another BFP this week, so just wanted to say hello - hoping this one's going to stick around!

nanbred · 03/04/2009 17:23

Hello all,

Special congratulations to ITOFR and Sussex, that is such lovely news! ITOFR especially happy to hear your little bub has a hb!x

All over with me, had m/c Wed and sort of ongoing, looks complete on scan, so going to resume normal ttc activity as soon as possible.

Everyone else ok? sounds like the thread is at last turning in fertile directions for us ladies. So fx to all still on the rollercoaster!

(....Passing virtual ungainly slices of cream cake to all).... It's my 'special day' Sun, wow can I really be 45? Seems very late in day to be trying for our first baby, but what the hell! As long as I still feel young and hopeful I'll keep giving it a shot. DP going to put a fence up for me, and then we're going to buy some lovely flowers for garden, and choose a special tree to commemorate my lost little one. Feeling kind of calm and accepting about it all at the mo. Not for long I bet!

Have a lovely weekend all.
