giggly - congratsulations

Mummyfor3 - like twigs here, I am on the other thread, so do come and join us there, then I won't be the oldest one!

Rowing and fifitot - thank you for bringing a great laugh in today! Just Wish I could be so witty.

Juicylucytoo · 28/01/2009 19:56

Well yesterday was a wash out. Both too knackered to do the deed.
All our hopes are on 5am tomorrow Maybe Feb then!

Rowing - DH is back in 2 weeks then we're off to Brighton in time for the next OV at the end of Feb.

rowingboat · 28/01/2009 22:33

Thank you Rainbow, I'm actually half asleep most of the time.
Juicy, you had better pop off to bed then, got to get busy early tomorrow. Remember don't say 'gerroff, I'm sleeping'.

Juicylucytoo · 29/01/2009 14:07

As luck would have it Rowing we decided to be sensible and just get on with it when we went to bed. Just as well as DS woke us up at 3am covered in vomit. There followed cleaning up session and DS coming into bed with us, so the 5am BD would have been written off anyway!

I think we can safely say this month was a waste of space, we only manged to BD once, last night and I don't OV until Saturday. Twould be a miracle to say the least... Off to H&B to get many supplements for next months attempt.

nanbred · 29/01/2009 14:26

Hello everyone, hope you don't mind me crashing into this thread. As a senior oldie, at 44.10 no children, but recent starter wonder if you have any advice re things I should be doing. Reg cycle 28-29 days, BDing from Day 11, every other until Day 17. No joy, 1 year later! Is there still hope? What's B6 all about, should I be on it? Advice needed please!

Juicylucytoo · 29/01/2009 16:15

Nanbred welcome - there are quite a few things you can do. Here are some of the ones I have done / considered. Sure the ladies with more detailed info will be on later to elaborate:

Evening primrose oil - days 1-6 of cycle - improves CM - useful for us more mature ladies
grapefruit juice - also improves CM
Guafanesin (certain cough meds contain it) - day 1 to OV (I think) - also improves CM

Certain Amino Acids - Rowing and COC(?) are the experts on which ones and what they're for.

Royal Jelly - general fertility

Fish Oil capsures - also general fertility (I think)

Reduce caffeine, alcohol and give up smoking. Eat fresh Fish and shell fish.

Zinc tabs - These are for the boys too.

There are also a few things for improving the luteral phase - one of the other girls will have to help you with that. Not sure what it is you take.

You can also consider temping to get the timing more accurate. Taking temp at same time every morning before getting up. There are threads on this for more advise.

You should be taking folic acid just in case too.

HTH

All Regulars please check what I've written and post corrections where necc!!

Mummyfor3 · 29/01/2009 16:44

Excuse my ignorance, I am still struggling with some of the acronyms: bd, AF, CM - please elucidate (had to look that one up )

I have been lurking on and off, but am at work so really shouldn't...

Thanks for invitation to TTC No4 board; I will pop in there when I have more time.

6pm roll on!

fifitot · 29/01/2009 16:45

Hi Nanbred - start charting which gives you tons of info about your cycle. Go to fertility friend dot com for advice on this. Helps pinpoint fertile days. use ovulation predictor kits. I had acupuncture too last time but not this time. Good luck.

rowingboat · 29/01/2009 17:50

Hi Nanbread, I love your name! I think Juicy has covered pretty much everything, but there are a couple of posts with a list of amino acids by COC further up this thread. I would definitely recommend reading this thread, it has loads on it which might help and I probably won't remember.
MummyF3 AF = Aunt Flo/period CM = cervical mucous (you did ask) which is one indication of your fertile time of the month, just before you ovulate.
There is a glossary somewhere at the top of page, next to all the other Mumsnet stuff. Mind you people seem to create new acronyms on a weekly basis.
I second Fifi and recommend joining fertility friend as a free member - they send you around five emails as an introduction to the things to look out for as an indicator of your most fertile period.
HTH

Hello all, yes, Rowing had another miscarriage last Friday. Am feeling better now and have scan tomorrow to check it has all gone, bit grim, but hopefully will be reassuring.

How are things with you?

fifitot · 29/01/2009 20:00

Sorry Twiglettini. It's sh*t isn't it.

I am currently on 2ww (well 12 days for me) and fed up. DH bought a nice bottle of wine and is sinking a big glass of tasty shiraz and I am drinking bloody ribena! Great.

No symptoms whatsover unless you count gorging on choc which I do most days anyway. Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

Juicylucytoo · 29/01/2009 20:21

Sorry about your mc Twig. Boo Hiss Buggar. Hope your scan is good and you're feeling better soon.

Nanbred - As well as Acupuncture you might want to look into reflexology - have heard that can be good.

latestarter2009 · 29/01/2009 21:14

hi fifitot - i've just started my 2ww and both my chocolate and wine cravings continue unabated

fifitot · 29/01/2009 21:38

latestarter - it's a bloody pain in the @rse isn't it? My DH is now a bit drunk as he drank most of the wine all by himself and he is getting right on my nerves. Good job we are past BDing for this month!!!!

I wouldn't mind if I thought I was going to be pg at the end of it but probably won't be!

fifitot · 30/01/2009 08:13

Is it just me? The board has changed it's format, not sure if I like it. Can I change it back?

Anyway - hope everyone Ok today, have had an awful night of crampy tummy and sort of diorreha (sp). Feel crap. Am thinking it's just a coincidence and not going down route of symptom spotting as that is where madness lies. (Think I had too many pulses in my bean and veggie casserole!)

Juicylucytoo · 30/01/2009 09:46

When I tried to log on last night the site was down for "major changes". I guess that's the new format. Give it a couple of days. There'll probably be a "we want it back" thread by then and the option to choose the format! There was last time

latestarter2009 · 30/01/2009 11:39

my dh doesnt drink...this is a bad thing when i want to celebrate with a glass of champagne, but a good thing when it comes to pg.........and as i always have a driver

fifitot when i was pg i had an upset stomach and lots of bowel related cramps.....i haven't been on this thread long, but it seems like we could all do with some happy news, so fingers crossed this is your month and a positive month for everyone else no matter where you're at.

are there any bfpers out there - i would love to hear how you are doing?

Twiglettini · 30/01/2009 11:48

Good luck for those on 2ww.

they wouldn't give me a scan as neg preg test and bleeding stopped, so have to believe that all is back to normal as if was a heavy period -

Fifitot - got my fingers crossed for you, hope it is not a reaction to bean casserole

latestarter2009 · 30/01/2009 12:30

twiglettini i had an mc in december, but have kept on bleeding until the last couple of days, i had a scan yesterday and all was clear, even though i still have funny cramps and very lumpy breast tissue....even went to the doc with quite a specific lump, but she said is just mc and it can take a long time for the hormones to go back to normal

hope you feel better soon

Twiglettini · 30/01/2009 13:17

oh latestarter, that does sound worrying. Glad the scan was clear, are you taking your temperature or using ovulation pee sticks?

latestarter2009 · 30/01/2009 13:33

have used the sticks this week and got a on tuesday - i have to use digital hpt and opk as analysing the lines freaks me out!

Twiglettini · 30/01/2009 13:39

that's good news after the mc. Does this mean you are in 2ww now??

latestarter2009 · 30/01/2009 13:59

i think so, but it is my first time where we are actually trying and it all feels a bit unbelievable

it was so nice last time as it happened by accident and it's funny knowing i will never again have that ignorance of everything that's happening

was this your first mc?

Twiglettini · 30/01/2009 14:24

no, third. Had one after DD1, about 6 years ago, then had a suspected molar preg at 11 weeks in Sept, was luckily completely fine after erpc and histology, then this mc at 6 weeks. This time has been so much easier as so early on. Am focusing on the received wisdom that it is 'easier to get pregnant after a mc'!!! don't know if this is true...

Hope the next two weeks whizz by and give you a BFP. Will you poas early??
