Same here Scorpio, DH leaves house between 6 and 7 then gets in between 9 and 10. If it weren't for his finances I might as well be a single parent. It's hard but I'm used to it now and actually find it hard when he tries to do anything...

scorpio1 · 29/01/2009 10:14

same here Kat re finances. Although on weekends he is here and very good (cooks cleans takes them out etc) but i do find 5 days in a row hard going, especially as its school, nursery drop offs, home, managing money etc.... phew.

KatB · 29/01/2009 10:18

SNAP - I have him on weekends and he is good, loves to cook and look after the kids although he doesn't drive (don't get me started) so I have to do all the ferrying about still.
It is hard, mine are all at school now (DD1 started in Sept) so it's nice but I still have university lectures and assignments to do. Sigh.... still keeps me out of trouble I suppose

scorpio1 · 29/01/2009 10:20

See, i can't drive, so DH drives me everywhere on weekends. Am going to start in April. I'm supposed to be returning to uni but i just have no energy at mo.

Going to have takeaway and film this weekend i think, think dh is taking them swimming so thats cool.

Diege · 29/01/2009 11:53

Hello!! RAINBOW, what you say about everyone now thinking we were trying for a boy is exactly what I said to dh. I'm sure I'll get comments such as 'Now you've got your boy you can stop '. Ok, I'm def stopping, but not for that reason!
KATB, know what you mean about scans - I've never had one where they haven't found some sort of marker, although this particualr one wouldn't even have been reported in some NHS Trusts . Still, am keeping positive as amnio wasn't recommended (risk of miscarriage greater than edward's syndrome being detected). Plus baby was so active and is moving loads which does reassure me that all is well.
You and SCORPIOs dhs' days sound very long, though I know what you mean about when they do actually do something...I am lucky in a way that me and dh work equally long hours, so (and it's taken lots of training) we really do share 50/50 (having said that, I do all the washing/ironing so def. draw short straw, he the cooking ).
So SCORPIO when do you test??

scorpio1 · 29/01/2009 12:48

I don't know diege, i think im only like 8-10dpo, at very most.

When i had first scan with Mimi (dc3) they saw alot - my waters had seperated from uterine wall, i had had an internal bleed, a fibroid.....all fine obviously, but at the time was so scary. I think it always takes me a while ttc because of the fibroid - have always been at least 6 months for a BFP, and have very heavy periods, etc.

Soooooooo tired and cross.

babyblue3 · 29/01/2009 12:50

Diege - congrats on a good scan! I am so happy that you are getting your little boy! He is going to be a spoiled one isn't he?? LOL.. the youngest AND only son... wow! My DH is youngest and only son... and is a complete mamma's boy! LOL. I am keeping my fingers crossed for a DS as well... although I still feel its a girl, I am now starting to have doubts too! LOL

I don't envy you ladies that are home alone all week. I don't know how you manage. I am lucky that both DH and I work the same amount of hours, and share the housework (although sometimes I have to really get after him to do it!). He works 11:30am to 7:30pm and I work 8-4. Its nice... he gets up with the kids and get them to school, and I pick them up in the afternoon and make dinner. When he gets home, he tidies kitchen and gives baby a bath. Works good! We even manage to spend a few hours each evening together (when I am not alseep by 8pm that is!). Once I return back to work after mat leave things will be different though. I normally work shift work but because I am pg they have me on modified duties which means straight days. I guess I will worry about that in 18 months!

How is everyone else? Has anyone started the POAS yet??

Diege · 29/01/2009 17:02

Hi BABYBLUE! Sounds like you have a very similar set up with dh to me - takes some organising, but works pretty well! Thanks for the congrats - still coming to terms with it being a boy- can't believe it quite yet! I will try my hardest so that he doesn;t become the 'little prince' - not that my little princesses would let him . Now have a name to think of!

KatB · 29/01/2009 18:44

Sounds like a good set-up bb and diege. DH used to be an accountant in the NHS and it was great, he was on flexi and was usually home by 5 like a normal person. He moved to a big private company over 18 months ago which meant more money but they expect him to work well over his contracted hours - he doesn't get paid extra either but they are ALL workaholics at his firm and if he doesn't put in the hours then basically he has no chance of getting promotion or a good bonus It sucks.
I'm in a bit of a dilemma atm actually. I am due to graduate in June but can't decide whether to aply for jobs or not. If I get pregnant before I start will I still get mat leave even unpaid? And how pissed off will they be? It'll probably be lab work in the NHS and they are pretty good with work/life balance... hmm not sure what to do.

Also DD1 has been doing auditions at a girls secondary (private) school to see if she gets a scholorship (she is a FANTASTIC singer and dancer), but even if she gets the scholorship it's only around 50% of the fees so we'll have to fork out the rest which we could only afford if I got a job... arghhhh I really want a baby now but all my common sense says wait 6 months or so until I get a job and can get mat leave. She loves this school so much and in terms of her ambitions it's perfect... Anyway, she might not get the scholorship then I won't have to worry about it as we def can't afford 100% (£900 a month YIKES). Probably not much chance of getting pg this month with DH being away next week.....

WOW sorry for long rant, just needed to get it all out... dd2 screaming at me and calling me nasty because I won't get her a snadwich so I better go....
xxxxx

Twiglettini · 29/01/2009 19:39

Hey Diege - wow, how exciting. Boys are lovely, though I was a bit freaked to get one after only 1 girl, can't imagine how you feel after 3 girls!! (think someone else said this up thread too). Why not just call him The Boy and be done with it??

Hello to everyone else - how're you all doing? Anyone poas yet??

Have got scan in morning, so will let you know how it goes - [am thinking will probs be internal - ho hum - not a lot of fun]

theboob · 29/01/2009 19:46

hello all
just looking in to see how you all are and more BFP's etc
hope you are all well

rainbowdays · 29/01/2009 19:53

Twigs - hope the scan goes ok tomorrow, and that all is clear. yep, it will be an internal won't it - horrible.

theboob - how are you?

KatB - I think that if you put off ttc, you will just find things harder. How long do you have to wait to find out about if your dd has the scholorship or not? Have you been working lately at all, or just studying? Sorry loads of questions there!

theboob · 29/01/2009 20:24

i'm really well thankyou but i have seemed to developed a bump already,i'm only 5 weeks is this normal? i'm worried about more than 1 in there

rainbowdays · 29/01/2009 20:27

Well - they do say the more babies you have the greater the risk of multiples, but then I also work on the: the more babies I have the baggier my stomach gets with less and less muscle to hold it in .

theboob · 29/01/2009 20:38

I have put a pic on my profile,i'm normally a 10-12 and worked really hard all last year to get it flat again
roll on my scan date

scorpio1 · 30/01/2009 09:48

my Mumsnet has changed i don't like it.

feel pooh here, was il in the night AGAIN. Just so tired, have put ds2 in nursery al lday so just me & dd until 3pm, nice. Going to walk in town in a bit then do nothing all day.

cd 30 here today

Twiglettini · 30/01/2009 11:09

Oooh, Scorpio, sorry you feel grim - is that a long cycle for you? have you poas yet? could this be exciting????

the boob - enjoy and embrace your lovely bump

hi Rainbow and everyone else - hope you're feeling ok.

well, they didn't scan me as they did a neg preg test and bleeding has stopped and they don't scan under those circumstances. Was a bit sad and worried, especially after last mc and suspected molar preg, but am now ok with it as it hopefully means my body is back to normal now and can get on with ttc. [actually was sort of hoping they might be able to see my ovaries and let me know if they were gearing up to release an egg - but not sure if they could find that out

MrsD - where are you, any news??

scorpio1 · 30/01/2009 12:47

Usual cycles are about 34/35 days so.....

mrsdisorganised · 30/01/2009 12:52

hello...feeling a little down today, af didn't arrive yesterday have been feeling very sick, although I usually do with pmt, broke my 'rule' and tested, bfn...so I guess af on the way....
Sorry you weren't able to have a scan Twig, but at least you can start ttc when you feel ready...
Scorpio hows the pmt? I fully sympathise it's a pain....fingers crossed though, my symptoms are so similar to early pregnancy it's impossible to tell the difference
Lovely bump theboob!

Hello to everyone else!

scorpio1 · 30/01/2009 12:55

pmt is awful today again, though i dont feel like i want to rip stuff up as bad today LOL

Sorry about bFN, its not over till its over.

I bought tampons today, thats what im expecting. Breasts are so sore.

babyblue3 · 30/01/2009 12:55

Good morning all
Twigs - even though you didn't have the scan you wanted, glad to hear you seem to be feeling better and are gearing up for the next TTC cycle. Best of luck... they do say (not sure how true it is) that its easier to conceive after m/c. My LO was! Keepin my fingers crossed for you.

Rainbow - too funny about your tummy gettin bigger with the more kids you have. I couldn't agree more! Like I said, I am the same size at 15 weeks now, that I was at 24 weeks with DD2. I normally am a 10-12 (are US and UK sizes the same??) but started this pg off bigger since I didn't lose the weight from the last pg... not from lack of trying! LOL

Boob - enjoy your bump! I am counting the days till I feel my LO moving. I keep dreaming that I do... then wake up and realize it was a dream and feel all disappointed. Call me a nut! LOL

Scorpio - POAS yet???

Where is everyone?? Seems to be the same small group of us chatting lately.

scorpio1 · 30/01/2009 13:01

I have got back between babies, but somehow you can now tell i have had children, whereas before i dont think you really could.

I just want 4 please!

Twiglettini · 30/01/2009 13:25

Hello mrsD, been wondering how you are. Sorry you got BFN, but, as Scorpio says, it's not over until the red lady sings. It is SO hard not to poas, isn't it. Next month I'm determined to wait, [and yet I know I'll cave in early]

Thanks all for all your kind thoughts about mc and lack of scan, there is only so much obsessing that one can do in RL, [sorry if it is wearing thin here as well]

scorpio1 · 30/01/2009 13:43

its not wearing thin at all. Think if we cant say it here, then where can we say it?? DH gets annoyed when i talk about ttc!

scorpio1 · 30/01/2009 14:25

Any of you use ebay cheapies - 25miu ones? Tell me about your experiences, please.
